I ordered a Power Veggie takeout salad from this place, and it came out super duper quick! However, the salad itself was just mediocre. It didn't look as bountiful as the pictures made it seem - I felt like it was just a bunch of romaine lettuce, random nuts, and a few pieces of sweet potato tossed together. We just visited this location as we were seeking a tasty fresh meal. We were encountered by Tarin who was behind the counter. My friend and I were unsure and indecisive on what we wanted. This staff member was sooo helpful and informative. She offered a great visual description of our choices, interjected why she loved what they offered and convinced us on our choices. Later she stopped by our table and asked if we were happy with our choices as she cleaned up the area. From a distance we saw how she helped this disabled woman by running to the door offering her assistance. All of this was done with a smile so bright she lights up the day. This woman was amazing and we let her know. If we were Urbane Plates we'd keep an eye out for her as management material. She represents very well but mostly she was just an awesome person. I first tried Urbane Cafe during their Burbank grand opening where they were giving away free food in exchange for a donation to their partner charity. I'm so glad I got the opportunity to try it because they locked me in as a loyal customer. I love a good sandwich and Urbane is the king of a good sandwich. All the sandwiches are made on their delicious focaccia bread and everything I've had to date has been delicious. They have incredible chocolate chip cookies, too. After finishing a meeting in Toluca Lake/Burbank I was more than ready for lunch, when on my way to one of my regular go-to places I had the thought of trying something different. I was on Verdugo Ave. by Hollywood Way, and before I even pulled into the complex I saw the Urbane Cafe, which looked interesting. The menu features chicken, beef, and vegetarian sandwiches, salads, and bowls with some SoCal ethnic influences (I had the Cilantro Chicken Torta). The sandwich, on their homemade focaccia bread, was delicious with a broad range of flavors that worked very well together. It tasted clean and fresh. The sandwiches come with a side salad, and they have an impressive range of cane sugar sodas (no high fructose corn syrup), lemonades, and ice tea, as well as homemade cookies. The staff were pleasant and helpful, and the manager, John, went out of his way to make sure I enjoyed my food and the entire experience. It's a relaxed place with lots of light, good background music, and reusable dinnerware. I will be back again after my next meeting! read more

I ordered lunch for me and my hubby on the online app. We both wanted something healthy, so got the salmon salad and the ahi tuna salad. Food was ready in like 10 minutes and was easy to pick up. Didn't compare to the Pasadena location. We've been to the Pasadena location a few times, and it was always good. So, we decided to try the Burbank location, thinking it would be great too, but it was not. My wife ordered the Salmon Bowl. And the bowl we received was half empty. It literally had half as much food in it as the photo on the menu on the wall. And was only filled up half way. The picture on the wall menu showed the bowl piled up high full with food. And that's always how it was served at the Pasadena location. My wife was very disappointed, especially for the price. So she mentioned it to one of the staff. And the girl said that everything is measured and that's how much how much food you are supposed to get. She offered to bring more vegetables, which was nice. But she had the vibe like we were just trying to get free food. My salad was also disappointingly small. And again, the staff member said the portions are measured out and that is the proper size. Needless to say, I was still pretty hungry after eating that small pricey salad. All portions of everything were bigger at the Pasadena location. That's one of the reason we liked it there so much. Not to mention, the salmon in my salad, and the veggies were ice cold! Almost literally. I was shocked that I did not bite into any ice crystals. It was that cold! Not very pleasant to eat. You need to know that my husband and I love this place so much we're there for lunch almost every other weekend. I crave their tomato soup (which is dairy free btw!) and it's like a party in my mouth when we reunite. I legit tried to Google their recipe because it's THAT good. Whoever owns this place has a goldmine DUE TO YOUR AMAZING STAFF. They had major catering orders in today and the wait is more than usual. Every single staff member remained calm, professional and helpful as they could be. Despite the inconvenience, most of the customers stayed patient and kind, and I truly believe that's a result of the tone set by the staff. I would advise the app to updated to display more accurate wait times. Sweet and lovely, with bright flavor that paired well with all of the other ingredients. I appreciated that the salad was EXTREMELY fresh. I ordered the Cafe salad, which had really tasty and moist chicken with delicious pears and the creamiest goat cheese And avocado with pecans. Had the good fortune of attending a soft opening at this location. I like that this is a family owned business that also believes in giving back as today's opening benefitted the Boys and Girls Club of America. The food is really good and the staff was on top of it. As for the food, I had the salmon bowl. Luckily the salmon was cooked perfectly. Most places tend to overcook it, especially when it's busy. I visited here during the opening week and overall have to say I'm so thankful to have a place like this in the neighborhood. The food quality for a fast service restaurant is excellent - seeing them bake the bread gives the place a nice aroma and the bread has a light, seasoned and spongey taste. Soup & salad combo is a good option, too: filling, but not too much. A lot of the employees were just as new to this as I was, but they were very helpful. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and my only suggestion would be to put a wall of greenery or something on the border to the street by the tables (you can't beat dining next to truck fumes) but other than that, Urbane Cafe is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood! read more

Urbane Cafe has quickly become a go-to meal for us for takeout/delivery. Everything I've had on the menu is SO GOOD. Their focaccia bread is amazing. So soft and flavorful. They have so many options and are really great for health conscious meals. I regularly order the salmon bowl or salmon salad. I've tried both soups, multiple sandwiches, bowls, and salads. I'm always super satisfied whenever we eat from here. My only gripe is they do charge for substitutions - for example if I want no rice and double kale on my salmon bowl, they charge extra for the kale but don't take off anything for no rice. We've very rarely gotten an order wrong and when it does happen, it's quick to fix. Both delivery and pickup are pretty speedy. If you order directly online and sign up, they have track rewards that you can redeem to go towards a free item. Their cookies are pretty great too! read more

The food was good, but there's a need for the staff to be better informed about customer health and safety. On 12/6/23, approximately at 6:45 pm, my wife was placing a takeout order, and I was by the pickup area observing the kitchen. Unfortunately, the individual operating the pizza oven was simultaneously coughing without any attempt to cover his mouth while in close proximity to the bread. What's more concerning is that he had a mask hanging on his chin. To exacerbate the situation, after a minute, he spat on the floor beside him, I hope there was a trashcan. The Urbane Cafe is a truly great place to eat! Along with a personable and friendly staff, the food is phenomenal. While my wife was extremely pleased with the fresh soup, my ahi salad was superb. Aside from the many food options, the restaurant is immaculate and has a very welcoming atmosphere. For that matter, John T, the manager, made a point of stopping by our table to make sure that we were completely satisfied with our order.
