Extremely disappointing food AND customer service. I ordered a salmon bowl from the Burbank CAVA today and was shocked at the quality when I got home. The salmon was completely inedible--extremely dry, hard, tasteless, and had the texture of something that had been sitting around for hours. I spent approximately $20 on a meal that I ultimately had to throw away. I called the restaurant expecting a simple resolution. Instead, I was met with one of the strangest customer-service experiences I have ever had. The manager, Melanie, initially told me I could come back and have the meal replaced. I explained that I was on my way to work and couldn't come back that day. She then said I needed to give her a specific day and time when I could return. I offered Saturday because I was trying to accommodate her request, only for her to then say that if I couldn't come back that same day, she couldn't replace it and I would have to contact CAVA Support. So let me understand this: CAVA serves me a $20 salmon bowl that is essentially garbage, I throw it away because it's inedible, and then I'm expected to rearrange my schedule around a specific date and time just to get the restaurant to make the situation right? When I expressed my frustration, Melanie repeatedly accused me of yelling at her. I was frustrated, but I was not yelling or threatening her. Instead of de-escalating the situation like a professional manager should, she argued with me and hung up on me twice. I called back a third time to request the general manager's name so I could escalate the matter. She initially refused to provide it and only eventually gave me the name Caesar, saying he would be there tomorrow. The food was unacceptable, but honestly, the way the manager handled the complaint was even worse. A customer should be able to call a restaurant and say, "The food I paid $20 for is inedible," without being argued with, accused of yelling, and hung up on twice. CAVA needs to seriously evaluate the management and customer-service standards at this location. At minimum, this situation warrants formal review and retraining. Customers should not be treated this way when they are simply asking for a legitimate resolution to a problem caused by the restaurant. Food quality: unacceptable. Customer service: unacceptable. The food was fresh and my glazed salmon also fresh with no fishy odors. I have been to the CAVA restaurants in Pasadena, Monrovia and Azusa and feel this is the best location to date. CAVA has focused on healthy foods with a Mediterranean twist. The toppings are served by the spoonful and the main starch is rice. As you go along the counter, various proteins are available, as well as vegetables toward the end. Avocados are also available, and special sauces. Don't get twisted by the bad reviews about this location. My boyfriend and I ordered pick-up through the app earlier today. We got a greens + grains bowl (braised lamb & chicken) & free pita. As soon as we got there, there was a good amount of parking spots in front. We walked in and unfortunately someone had taken our pick-up order. We hope there's a better way to organize pick-up orders so that it's easily not taken by others. I went to the restroom while my boyfriend shared what had happened with the staff. Cava newbie here. We decided to give this place a shot because we've heard so much about it. The first thing I noticed was how long the line was, but once we got up to order we found out that they really give you their time as there's a lot of things to choose from and many people ahead of us had multiple orders. I got the salmon yogurt dill bowl and I really liked it a lot. It was satisfying and was plenty of food. Next time I'd substitute power greens for the arugula. Maybe it's a sensory thing, but the long stems of the arugula was too much for me. The yogurt dill dressing was great and the salmon was cooked well. My daughter got a steak bowl and said she'd get her dressing on the side next time. I wished I ordered pita chips with some dip, but I'll grab some of that the next time. They have outdoor and indoor seating. Parking close to the spot can be challenging because they share an area with Starbucks, Sharkey's, Jamba Juice, etc. If you go down toward REI and walk you'll find a spot no problem. Stopped here while driving on the 5 north. Parking for this area was really hard, kind of a nightmare so the location is hard to get to. After we finally parked, We waited in line for about 15 mins which felt a bit long, there was only 2 people in front of us. The seemed to have a lot of online orders that take priority. The workers themselves were fine, not overly friendly but just doing their job. The food itself was not great, we got 2 menu chicken bowls instead of a pick the items yourself style. Definitely my go to after hitting up the 24 hr fitness center in Burbank and I just love how filling it is for how much you get! Came twice to this location and two times I felt that area was not clean.
