I was in the area and stopped by Shawarma King because I wanted to try some authentic, delicious, juicy, crispy shawarma. Instead, the guy behind the counter handed me this: chopped, stale chicken meat that had been quickly warmed up on the stove in a terrible, cracked frying pan--the kind that looks like it came straight out of the trash--wrapped in a piece of lavash bread cut from a store-bought pack (like from Super King). It wasn't shawarma; I didn't even know what to call it. It was just meat wrapped in bread that wasn't even suitable for shawarma; there was practically nothing inside--no cabbage, no tomatoes, no cucumbers, no sauce--it was just a total disaster. The shawarma wasn't grilled or even warmed through properly; it wasn't just that it looked awful--open at both the top and bottom because the bread was the wrong size--it was just a nightmare! Guys, I paid $20 for this "miracle" (without a drink). I beg you: never, ever serve something this terrible to anyone again. It wasn't shawarma; it was completely inedible. When I unwrapped it, the whole thing fell apart; the top wasn't sealed with the bread because the piece was too small and the wrong type! You didn't even bother putting it on the grill! When I ordered the falafel, the chef/owner literally said you don't want that you can get a falafel anywhere and what I focus on is give me... I replied I haven't had meat since the 90s so I'll try the falafel and boy did I regret not listening to the guy because it was disgusting not only did it cost $13 for the plate which is 70% rice, but the falafel were not edible. I threw it all away after trying to force myself to eat it. Panini grill down the road at town center or sipan bakery in Glendale on Glenoaks are both 1000% better. Don't feel ripped off like we did. Walked in, no one was behind the counter... a lone gentleman was sitting at the counter enjoying his meal. Had to yell out for some assistance... shortly after we were greeted with smiles from another gentleman and a woman. They were very nice, adlnd walked us through their menu since it was our first time. Will admit I was a little put off by watching the man combine old hummus with that appeared to be a new batch. He also did the same with some sauces that were put on our sandwiches. My son opted for the chicken shwarma sandwich, while I opted for a falafel sandwich. The lovely lady behind the counter suggested we have the lahmajun (pardon my spelling) which was delicious. The sandwiches were good, but had so much sauce on them very little else could be tasted. It seemed as though both of our sandwiches were prepared exactly the same except for the chicken vs falafel. Most of what I tasted in my sandwich was what tasted like watery hummus. Thank God we like hummus... Overall a decent experience, but I have definitely had better falafel sandwiches elsewhere. My son said his sandwich was good but next time he will ask for light sauce. The rice was good, but a little greasy. My other son ate almost all of it, but did end up vomiting later that evening. Not sure if it was his lack of chewing or perhaps old rice. I was teetering between one and two stars here, and it's only 2 stars because my co-worker did enjoy her Falafel wrap and the shawarma beef was nicely flavored. We had ordered off Grub-hub for the Beef Shawarma Plate, the Falafel Wrap, and a single order of the "famous" Lahmajoun. Like I mentioned before, my friend enjoyed the Falafel Wrap but was quiet on the specifics of it. She did say that there was a ton of cilantro in it, which isn't mentioned on the menu, and she had to spend time picking that out. She was still a bit steamed at the late delivery time, but that will be addressed later. The Shawarma Plate is described as "Marinated shawarma strips served with hummus, tabbouleh, a choice of rice or french fries and pita bread." The meat was flavorful, definitely lots of the good spices and seasoning, but it was dry and there was bit more fatty pieces than I've ever had with shawarma. There was some kind of sauce drizzled over the meat, and while it wasn't in the description of what it was, it was good, too. Rather than tabbouleh, it came with a salad. Not even a "Greek" salad (no olives, no feta), just sad depressing shredded lettuce, tomato, bell peppers (seriously?), and cilantro (again, seriously? it wasn't even parsley, it was straight up cilantro). The rice was regular rice, at least they didn't mess up on overcooking it. The pita was standard, nothing special and it could have been store bought. The hummus was okay, a bit too "gritty" and chunky from what I expect from a Middle Eastern place, but it was palatable. So, I'm wondering what makes this Lahmajoun famous. The description mentions that it's sauce with meat and cheese. I checked the other pictures on Yelp of this, and I'm seeing almost the same thing as my picture, so I'm a bit confused. My Lahmajoun was just sauce. There was no ground meat, no cheese, nothing else texture-wise. It was the most bland sauce, as well. I'm sure the meat and cheese would have popped the overall flavor, but I didn't get any of that. So, the delivery issue. According to Grub-Hub, it was supposed to be delivered between 11:30-11:40am, but it didn't arrive until 12:10pm. The deliver mumbled out something, but it sounded like there was an issue with the kitchen not getting the order. The driver refused to take the tip we offered. I would suggest skipping delivery and just picking it up if you don't stay to eat there. It sounds like this place can be hit-or-miss depending on the food, but this was a big miss. I was so hopeful that the Lahmajoun would be good enough to go back, but I'll move along and stick with my old favs. read more

The delivery was on time, the hummus & rice were excellent but that is about all the good things I can say about SK. My burger wasn't warm at all, tasted great but a cold burger just doesn't cut it :( The dolmas were really dry inside with little or no spice, but the lemony sauce they put over it was fairly tasty. The Falafel were really hard, they actually bent my fork :( and the problem with that were the pieces I could chew/taste had an amazing flavor, they were just extremely hard & dry. The salad in the dinner was pretty tasty, simple but flavorful. I just saw another persons review about the food looking old, maybe that's what it was. That sucks :( read more

The timing says they are open until 3 AM. I ordered food via Yelp. I went there by 2:15 AM and they didn't even let me inside and told me that it was closed. I was charged for the food and I tried contacting GrubHub but it was a long wait and eventually the call ended without talking to anyone. There is not even an option to get refund here. This is by far one of my favorite Armenian BBQ restaurants. I tried combo #26 when beef Lule kebob, pork chop and chicken. Everything was very juicy and extremely well seasoned.
