This was literally the most authentic Lebanese restaurant I've been to in my 5 1/2 years of living in LA. The server chose our dishes for us except for the French fries, and each of the dishes blew us away. The baklavas and other assortment of desserts amazed as well. Love love love how perfectly made everything was! Will def be coming back

    Happy Mother's Day!

Across the street from Circus Liquor in North Hollywood lies an oasis tucked into the corner of a mini-mall: Hayat's Kitchen. Serving amazing Lebanese cuisine, the abolute must-get is the Kaak bread with toasted sesame seeds. This bread is made on the spot, fresh from oven to table, and is some of the best bread I've ever had. Everything else was absolutely delicious as well including great hummus, shwarma, and fresh vegetables to round out the meal. I especially loved the stewed fava beans ("Ful"), which were incredibly rich and satisfying. My vegan dining companion was very happy with his options as well. I was treated to free baklava for Mother's Day...thank you! The baklava was fresh and not too sweet, which is hard to find. Service was friendly and our server answered our multitude of questions with patience, making great recommendations. I will definitely be back! Patio or inside dining is available. Free parking in the somewhat small parking lot.

Wow!! Just wow!! I am amazed and blown away by the experience I just had with eating here. First off, the entree portions are HUGE. I had chose the "beef shawarma," entree platter and paired it with baba ganoush, fattoush salad, and rice. The beef was FANTASTIC!! they also have the meat on display for the thinly sliced cuts and a real fire oven where they smoke/cook the meats. I am very impressed and definitely had to take some leftovers with the portion size. My plate was $24 and my partner also got the chicken and beef skewers. All together our bill was about $65 and WELL WORTH IT. From the moment you enter you are given a whole pita for the table to share. We sat outside but there was inside seating as well and this place is pretty spacious! The servers were kind and friendly and once the meal was finished they brought out complimentary baklava rolls which were delicious as well.

Hayat's Kitchen in North Hollywood is a homey and authentic slice of the Middle East. I have been to many Middle Eastern and Mediterranean restaurants, and Hayat's truly impressed me with their warmth, friendliness, and authentic cuisine. While I have never been to Lebanon, I lived in Israel for a year, and I know authentic Middle Eastern food. My friend, whose grandmother was from Lebanon, came with me to Hayat's for dinner, and he said it was the best and most authentic Lebanese food he has eaten, aside from his grandma's. The kibbeh, grape leaves, baba ganoush, falafel, hummus, fresh bread, lamb shank, salad, and rice were all sumptuous, fresh, and delicious. The filet mignon kabab was juicy and tender, cooked perfectly. The cashew baklava melted in your mouth. The rosewater pudding was divine. We also had ghraybeh and ma'amoul, Arabic cookies. The ma'amoul, my favorite dessert, was stuffed with dates and sweet, but not too sweet. The ghraybeh was a "melt in your mouth" shortbread cookie. I loved that one, too. My absolute favorite thing on the table was the kibbeh. They were fried perfectly, the meat was seasoned perfectly, and I loved the roasted pine nuts. I want to go back and have a dinner of just kibbeh and hummus with fresh bread. Our server, Lisa, was as sweet as the baklava. What a love! Hookah smoking takes place on the patio, and the energy is busy and festive. Come to Hayat's Kitchen for a delicious Middle Eastern meal and good vibes.

Stopped by here today to pick up some lunch to go. The chicken shawarma plate was excellent! The portions were very generous (which I don't rate on normally but in these times, it's nice to be able to stretch a meal into two or three). I loved the pickled veggies, and the tabbouleh was so tasty as well. I also picked up a flan and rice pudding, and enjoyed sharing them at home. They also had so many delicious baked goods on display - will definitely be back to try more!

Hidden gem in N. Hollywood. Their falafel sandwich is 12/10. So delicious and fresh. I highly recommend this dish. The staff there is extremely welcoming and nice. I always get the side of garlic sauce (which is SO good). Definitely a go to spot.

Their food is very delicious, but I saw a cockroach in the resturant. Literally got disgusted after eating. I have mixed feelings and might not return because cleanliness/hygiene is a big deal to me.

This has been one of my favorite restaurants for years in North Hollywood! It's definitely a hidden gem. The food here is Lebanese/Eastern Mediterranean and it's so delicious and fresh! I take my family that comes from out of town here, especially my picky father, and now he wants to go literally every time he is in LA! It's a little hard to find. It's nestled in the corner on the left hand side in the plaza that it's in. It's across the street from Circus liquor. I usually get the Shawarma plate with half chicken & half beef. I get it with rice (but you have a choice of other sides), humus, and salad! They also give you a whole bag of pita bread (literally) which is amazing. The food is very simple but very well seasoned. At the end of the meal they bring you free homemade baklava drizzled in honey and it's some of the best baklava I've ever had. So delicious and flavorful. Both crunchy and soft and the flavors pair so well together. The ambiance is very casual and the staff is also nice too. I will be going back again and again, and the many people that I have brought here feel the same!

Baba Ghanoush & Chicken - yum!

Why I haven't been here in almost a decade, I have no idea. I still remember the Baba Ghanoush with meat that I had that long ago! This week, 3 of us finally came back & sat on their big outside patio. One friend brought 2 pups; dogs & humans were all welcomed super warmly! We loved all our food: Mint tea Chicken kabob w/salad Shawarma w/hummus & garlic fries Lamb shank special w/rice & salad Baba Ghanoush Pita, pickled turnips, olives, pickles Custard filled dessert Baklava The portions are generous so we all had leftovers to take home. A good thing, because we wanted to eat more again later! There's a reason this place has been here for so long. Easy parking, fantastic food, and warm & friendly service! Highly recommend!

Back then things were a lot different. Food portions were plenty and very good. I stopped by today around 2:45 pm and was greeted by Salim the owner himself. Service was just ok, could have been better in many ways. They have remodeled this place and it has been around for over 25 years or so..I liked the place the way it was before. Place was clean. You order at the counter and they bring out your food. Salim was not that friendly, nor was he unfriendly. I ordered 1skewer of Shish Kabob that came in 4 small pieces of square beef, 1 skewer of grilled big prawns-3 pieces, which came with Rice, Hummus, Pita bread(stale) & was cold, and cabbage salad. My total for everything including tax was $29.65. I asked my Shish Kebob to be cooked medium, and it was way too well done for my taste. Shrimp and the rest were delicious!! My server Cely could have been more pleasant and friendly. She just brought my food out, placed it on the table & didn't check on me not even ONCE!! One of the cooks from the kitchen asked me if I needed anything and I said, I am good. Had to get up myself to ask for water and napkins. Ambiance was dull and boring. There was no one in the restaurant. Right when I was about to leave, another employee by the name of Micalla came to work and right away asked me if I needed anything. I asked for a box to take the remaining of the food to go. Right away she packed my food and I left. Fridge full of cold beverages and my favorite TAN! An Armenian/Lebanese Yogurt drink. Another downside was that they didn't have an itemized receipt. The last 4 star was for Micalla. Will definitely return again some other time. Shared parking with 5 other businesses and has 1 gender neutral restroom. Place was Established in 1999 and is a Lebanese restaurant. They also do to go orders, catering, and pick up..

During a weekday lunch, you'll hear English, Arabic, Armenian, and Hebrew all being spoken in the same dining room. It's a reminder that good food has a way of bringing people from all walks of life together. I wish the world mirrored this environment. The only thing I miss is the original décor. Before the remodel, the walls were decorated with beautiful photographs of Lebanon that gave the restaurant so much character. The updated space is clean, but it feels a little plain in comparison. If you're visiting on a weekend, expect a wait because this place is popular. Be sure to save room for the homemade baklava. I also appreciate that they're one of the few restaurants in Los Angeles that serves Coke Zero. This is one of those places I keep coming back to, and for good reason.

Kinda weird that the salad entree came out last after the two meat platters. It is very loud in the dining room. So many diners talking! There was no follow-up at our table. I guess it's semi-full service? It's order first at the cashier and then they serve at the table with your assigned table number. I studied the menu the night before and forgot to get extra meat with my plate! Oh well, next time. Best place to park is across the street or in the adjacent neighborhood. No problem finding a spot.
