I had been CRAVING shawarma (my latest hyperfixation meal) and popped into Aleppo Grill for a bite to eat. I KNEW that this spot was going to be fantastic, simply based on the fact that they offer Syrian cuisine. I went during non-peak hours and, to my surprise, I was the only customer there at the time. I was greeted by an older gentleman who took my order and made everything on the spot. I had ordered a beef shawarma wrap, falafel, and muhammara. While waiting for my order, I sat in the dining room and took in the whimsical decor. There were quite a few handwritten signs with quotes that I enjoyed reading and gave me a good laugh. The dining room itself is spacious and well lit. Once my order was ready to go, I grabbed it from the ordering counter and dug right in. The falafel was fried to a perfect crisp and I LOVED that they were (obviously) Syrian style; beige on the inside (no parsley or greens are included in the mix). The tahini sauce on the side complimented the falafel perfectly! I did prefer the muhammara to be slightly more peppery and seasoned, but overall it was okay. I enjoyed the pita bread that it came with. And of course, the main star of the show was the beef shawarma roll. That was well balanced between beef, veggies, and bread. The beef itself was seasoned well and I really enjoyed the parsley/onion in it. The pickled turnips on the side were fantastic! I LOVE anything pickled on the side of shawarma; it's an essential for me! Overall, I had a great experience at Aleppo grill! If you are looking for incredible Mediterranean food in the Valley, look no further. This place puts so much love into their food and you can really tell. Every single dish was packed with flavor. The beef and chicken shawarma were delicious, and the luleh and chicken kabobs were so tender and juicy. All of the sides and appetizers hit the spot! The hummus and baba ganoush were great, and they serve the best falafel I've ever had (super crispy on the outside, and not dry at all). I also tried grape leaves for the first time today and I'm actually addicted... On top of the phenomenal food, the owner, Silva, was such a sweetheart and kept checking in on us to make sure we were having a great experience. This is easily one of the best spots around. Was a new customer coming here for the past month and a half today was very disappointing though. I placed a takeout order and in the pictures it shows that they sell the hot peppers together with the chicken kebab platter when I asked for it because they never put it into the platter they charge me an extra two dollars. I don't mind paying extra, but if you're promoting it as a part of the dish, it shouldn't be charging me an extra two dollars and sadly today that the chicken was very small. I stopped by Aleppo Grill for lunch and had the chicken kabob plate, so good. Instead of rice, i asked for all salad and it came with hummus and flatbread on the side. The chicken was tender and full of flavors, cooked just right. The salad was fresh and i loved that the dressing wasn't heavy, just the right amount to enhance the veggies. The hummus was creamy and smooth. The only thing i didn't care for was the flatbread, which was served cold. In my opinion, it did not add much to the plate. I would have liked a warm side of flatbread. But everything else was yummy and I will come back. The service was friendly and prompt. Such a delicious find with Aleppo Grill! This neighborhood restaurant features reasonably priced kabobs that are so well-seasoned that they're bursting with flavor with every bite. Usually when I order a combination kabob plate, either the chicken kabob or beef is better than the other, but both the chicken and beef here are equally good! I have been to Middle Eastern restaurants where the chicken is a little too dry or the beef is under-seasoned, that's not the case here. You really can't go wrong with either, and you can definitely do well by asking for the combination plate! The portion is good and the pita bread is plentiful. I asked the lady here and she confirmed the humus is homemade. You can immediately tell it's not just from a can or store bought. Everything taste fresh and made from scratch! The couple running the place is friendly and you can tell they put a lot of heart and soul into their restaurant. It really reminds me of when I visit some of my friend's house and their parents asking me to stay for dinner for delicious home cooking. I will have to come back here next time I'm around! A nice small place that serves a great meal. What I like about here is that, the salad that they make, is very delicious. I'm not usually a fan of salad but this changes the game in salad. The hummus as well is amazing and creamy which not many places can make it this way. I ordered a plate chicken shish kabob plate which the meats are both juicy and flavorful. No fountain drinks. Chicken Shawarma Plate ($13.99): All Shawarma plates come with hummus, salad, rice or fries; choose between garlic or tahini sauce. I thought chicken shawarma was HEAVIELY spiced (Cloves and all spice come to mind), maybe a tad too much for my taste. I wish there was more sumac or lemon juice to cut the overall spice. The included garlic paste toned down the spices for me, but not by much. Beef Kabob Plate ($15.99): All kabob plates come with hummus, salad, rice or fries; choose between garlic or tahini sauce. The kabobs were under seasoned, but otherwise tasted good: beefy and fresh. The sides included in the plate were all very fresh tasting and good. The Garlic paste is on the mild side. The hummus is also very mild. Taste of tahini and olive oil only, a hint of lemon would not hurt. Falafel Wrap ($7.99): Excellent! I would order this again. The falafel was crispy, mild, and not greasy even though it's fried. The veggies in the wrap were fresh and not soggy; properly dried. They didn't overly drench it in tahini either. I ordered extra garlic sauce on the side with the wrap. Baba Ghannouji ($4.99): Good. Very lemony. Wish it were more smokey, but otherwise not bad. After reading the reviews and weighing our choices we decided on this place. Well Yelpers, we did good! Tucked away in a little corner of a small plaza, this place is easy to miss, but shouldn't be. A great family-run business serving up delicious Syrian fare. I had the shawarma plate and my husband the lula kabob. The meats were tender, juicy and perfectly spiced. The rice buttery and fluffy, the hummus silky smooth, the salad crisp and tangy, and the bread warm and fresh. After trying out so many Middle Eastern/Mediterranean places around Burbank and Glendale, Aleppo Kitchen has consistently been my go-to. Not only is it super close to my house haha, but the food has always been good-quality and delicious. The value and portion sizes are great as well. I typically order either the Chicken/Beef Shish Kabob plates or the Chicken Kabob wrap. I love that they always include garlic sauce with my orders! If you're ordering for 2-3 people, I'd also recommend getting the Mix Grill. It offers a variety of meats with huge portions of rice, salad, pita, and hummus. Lula kabobs were thin. Tasted good and aromatic, but not enough to impress me. Rice had noodle like steands mixed in. Salad was blah. No roasted tomato. Hummus was ok, passing grade. I won't be back. Came here for dinner & definitely a very authentic Mediterranean restaurant. I had the veggie plate that came with baba ganouj, hummus, falafel, salad, and stuffed grape leaves since I wanted variety. Everything tasted amazing and my favorites were the baba ganouj had the nice eggplant flavor and a hint of smokiness and the stuffed grape leaves. I usually don't like stuffed grape leaves, but the herbs all paired so nicely that I couldn't get enough of them. The falafel was also very good. The baklava wasn't bad, but it was mostly just the flakey dough. The falafel tasted like it was deep fried several times in really old oil. The outer breading was dark and thick and all you could taste was the old oil. The grilled chicken in the kabob plate had sort of a weird after taste so I threw it out. The rice and hummus that it comes with was ok, so I just ate that instead. read more
