    Hibachi Chicken
    Zach R.

This place is small and cute. I tried the hibachi chicken which was decent but not the best. It did not taste like freshly made hibachi from a hibachi grill. But it would be a good lunch option. The service size was big. I couldn't eat all of the rice. And the best part is that it comes with the yum yum sauce on the side. I will say I think the best thing is the seafood here. Would recommend those boils over the other options here.

They lied with a bait and switch. Promising free shrimp for first time only to no honor it.

One thing that is very irritating is when businesses like this make offers to get you in to buy their food, then tell you "it's a mistake" or "the offer is no Longer available". They have a Yelp CheckIn where they will give you a free offer of shrimp, only to say that I have to spend $100 to get it. RIDICULOUS. ILL NEVER COME BACK HERE.

    Get ya hands dirrrrty lol

Another road trip.. Another seafood cajun boil bag.......saturday night and the place had one table of 2 in it... Made me kinda nervous... I ordered anyways. Take out..... Staff was very friendly and pleasant. I ordered get your hands dirty. Love the name but they weren't joking they did not add gloves like other places do which forced me to get my hands dirty well eating this boil bag. Picked a lobster tail a pound of headless shrimp and half dozen of clams. Butter garlic and cajun mild spice. I also ordered a side of rice which cost me $4 a little disappointed in that price normally a side of rice with those are typically $2. I didn't add the corn on the cob due to the fact that my teeth do not like eating into it right now due to my Invisalign braces. Came with enough potatoes and something that I've never had in a boil bag before was to hard boil eggs which tasted delicious. They left the seafood in the bag that does get boiled in but they also added a metal tray to dump it out in.. which was a pleasant surprise... I also ordered a Thai boba tea I like that they had a good selection of teas and different style boba's. I gave four stars due to the fact that the seafood was a little overcooked the lobster tail due to being overcooked with super tough. Along with the clams and shrimp as well.

    Unknown creature

Do not eat from here.. I ordered food on Uber eats from this restaurant and found this unknown creature in both platters.

I'm out of superlatives for Hooked, but since it had been a while since we had been, I thought it…read morewise to update my review. This is a haute cuisine place that is masked by the casual dining atmosphere. Seriously: top notch chef, original recipes, a core dedication to quality seafood, paired with a fresh fish counter and some prepared food to go. We usually go for something special, but tonight I decided to get an old childhood standby, fried clams (the Boston Basket) and the fish burger sandwich. I did not expect either to be as transportive as they turned out to be. The fried clams were as delicately done as I've ever had: not crispy, but not too floppy, with excellent breading. And while I prefer my clams naked, we tried all three of the dipping sauces -- a remoulade, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce. Now normally I loathe cocktail sauce and can take tartar sauce or leave it, so I figured we'd eat up the remoulade and ignore the other two. Still, I gave them little nibbles. Man! The cocktail sauce was like no other I've had, with a heavy hint of horseradish and a far fresher flavor than I've ever had. Then the tartar sauce -- genius! It had a delicate spicing, with capers providing a floral backdrop. That was only a preliminary, as the fish burger proved to be complex, with hints of multiple kinds of fish, and a fennel-based spicing. I ended up having that afterglow, as if I'd had a couple of cocktails and was sitting next to a fireplace, that is the hallmark of truly fine food at an advanced level. We also had the usual outstanding service, attentive without being pushy. I seriously think Hooked should consider splitting into two restaurants: one where the ambiance is upgraded to match the high caliber of the food, and another cheaper one that is strictly fast casual and takeout, and they'd more than double the business. There is a restaurant back where we come from in California, Turtle Bay, that did this with fine dining on one side and the quick, simple, and affordable food on the other side, with a big shared kitchen between them but with completely separate ambiances. That way I could come back more frequently, and still have the original Hooked for special occasions!

Well, the oysters were fantastic, and that's why I made the 35 mile trip. I hate city traffic!!!…read more I also had the calamari with peppers, also good. Not like rubber bands, tender. Now the downfall, the chicken sandwich. I did notice other plates coming to tables looking like the fryer temp. is too hot, or cook time was too long. Some fish fry that came out looked quite dark as did my chicken, as you can see! A slight burnt taste was evident. It had good flavor under that burn, and the chicken was close to not being juicy, almost dry. The place is clean, and if not for the location, I would sit at the bar and have the raw bar! Something very important to me that hit me the instant I stepped through the door, if you're looking for a great shot of A/C on a hot day, not here!!! Barely got comfortable from the almost 90 degree day on a bike, and then worked up a return of sweating as the place filled up.

As I waited for the hostess she was clearly overwhelmed and couldn't eek out a smile to any of the people she greeted. In the lively restaurant, a few tables of girls-night out, birthday dinners, couples both young & old, bar seating with the World Cup on TV. Our server was very pleasant. The food was good, by Albany standards, heavy on the butter, salt and cream. It wasn't bad but for me they could pull back on the richness and let the herbs/mushrooms/fish/etc shine through. 2 out of the 3 us intentionally only ate half our portions, planning to eat the rest "tomorrow" and told the server we wanted to box them togo. She offered to do that for us, while we were happily chatting, sipping the rest of our wine. When the boxes didn't reappear, the server apologized that someone threw the boxes away. It was disappointing, especially when we paid $25-28 dollars for our plates of pasta. Based on the overworked hostess and server, management needs to adjust their staffing to insure a better customer experience. When they toss out leftovers, not just a single bite, but huge plate of food, it would seem appropriate to provide a "peace offering" perhaps put a small dessert togo or certificate for a free appetizer on a future visit. If I was local I'd probably return.

Also enjoyed the Latin American flare/flavor incorporated into both dishes. Dining prices in Albany have (bewilderingly) been on par with Boston and NYC for years now, so Coray Kitchen is certainly reasonable for a high quality meal. I also appreciate that the specials were priced similarly to on-menu items. Will definitely be back to sample the paella and fresh pasta, unless enticed away again by specials!
