I'm so conflicted about reviewing this place. Their BBQ is glorious, but trying their a la carte dishes gave a sense of bitter dejavu because the food was as puzzling as at Seoul Korean Restaurant that basically put me off for life. Here's the gist: - Tangsuyuk (aka sweet and sour pork): any person calling themself Korean should know at first glance that how they present the pork and the sauce just ain't right. The lightly battered pork strips should be served on a plate, not in what reminds of Arabian Nights. The sauce gets even more puzzling. What makes tangsuyuk sauce so magical is (1) the delicate balance between the sweet and sour, (2) thick, gloomy consistency that coats the battered pork, and (3) FRESH sliced veggies that typically include cucumber, carrots, onions, woodear mushrooms, and colourful capsicum. Instead, what they served was a runny, overly tangy concoction with frozen peas and carrots (!?!?). Needless to say, we didn't even eat half of the stuff which prompted two different staff to ask if we needed a takeaway box (we said no). When we pulled up the photo of this dish on their menu and online that shows a wonderfully authentic presentation (which we fully expected to havd on our table) and showed it to staff, they had this uncomfortable body language that indicated they knew what we got on our table was an abomination, but they apologised and said what we got was what it was. I'm so baffled as to why they didn't make even the bare minimum effort to slice some fresh veggies, which I know they have available because I see them in side dishes and appetisers, for the sauce. - Nangmyeon. A lot gets lost in translation but basically, what I expect is...well, again, what is depicted in the menu photo. What I got was a very poor, austerity version and I barely ate half of it. The nauthenticity and poor presentation of these a la carte dishes are a direct replication of those of Seoul Korean Restaurant. What is puzzling is how awesome their BBQ is, from the marinade and soybean soup to the egg souffle, purple rice, and the side dishes. So, my star rating leans towards the BBQ experience vs a la carte, and that's my recommendation. They have a lot going for it and they got a lot of things right, from the tasteful music selection and industrial-meets-pocha vibe to the flat screens showing endless footages of Korean goodies preparation. Staff are patient and friendly, even though it took some effort on the latest visit to get the cheque sorted due to administratively caused overcharge. I hear they have good soon tofu and kimbap. I hope they continue to improve and get the locals on board because I'm glad they're here and I want them to thrive. read more

We arrived just shy of lunch time. It's a beautifully appointed modern industrial look restaurant. Lots of TV screens. Far too many in my opinion. We waited quite a while to get the attention of the hostess to seat us. Finally after being seated we order drinks which came quickly. Order a beef and a chicken be bum bop. Branches came and was tasty. The lunches was delicious. The be bum bop was just okay. Wasn't a fan of the overcooked and soggy purple rice and the meat was bland on both chicken and beef. Overall, I don't think we'd eat there again due to the high prices. $20 for a single lunch is pricey. Service was just okay. read more

Review of the take out lunches rather than the dine in Korean BBQ experience. I'll have to try the BBQ, seeing as each table has its own barbecue grill. There are three flat screen TVs mounted to one of the walls in the restaurant. Soju is also offered. Drinks can round out your meal. Back to the lunches - protein and rice. I've tried the bulgogi lunch and the tofu over rice. Both have a lot of vegetables stir fried with the main protein. I think there's a bit of sesame oil in these dishes that lends a slightly slick feel and a faintly toasted, slightly bitter taste. To me, that taste is almost synonymous with Korean cuisine. The punch of acid and heat is provided by the side dishes (banchan), free of charge. They complete the meal. The salt, fat, acid, heat (thanks, Samin Nosrat) of the main/side dishes make for intriguing combinations of flavors. read more

Delicious food and modern atmosphere, I don't want to knock a star, but the service while friendly is a bit slow. It's not the fault of the servers, the company needs to hire more people, the place is currently packed and it's only two dudes zipping around. Maybe it's just coincidence, but every day is someone's first impression of a place. I had delicious fried squid and a cream cheese tteok-bokki. The two dishes pair wonderfully and I'll happily go back for them both. I love their purple rice, and mini-side dishes of broccoli, kimchi and masago. This place is a great Korean restaurant. this is my go to spot for korean food! kimbap, rice cakes, tofu stew so yummy! servings are perfect for sharing. staff has always been kind. i'm familiar with their latham location which is not BBQ it's more of a smaller cozier interior. central ave location has the hot plates for BBQ which i did not try, bigger interior and lots of tvs. same menu items though & many korean snacks and ice cream available to purchase. read more

We went in January everything was good except it was freezing cold. It was so cold. The servers were attentive and provide us drinks gave us our food explained how to make it gave us more fulls of the little dishes you get with a meal. I cooked on the grill I'm disabled so it wasn't the easiest but I was able to do it. They said they can cook it for you if you want and if you are disabled that might be something you might up for. I did prefer this to a hot pot I did a few years ago. Everything was so yummy. I think we had quarantine and I really liked it because I was so cold. You can't go wrong when you have pork belly fat it is awesome. They serve it with three little sauces to dip your food and I liked one it was a sweeter sauce. The rice was awesome too. I went with three friends we all had a nice time. It's kind of very modern and concrete with individual tables with a cook table inside the table. Everything was a five except it was so cold that's why I'm giving it a three. As in the building was so cold it was Winter I was already cold. I would not go here in the winter ever again. read more

I really enjoyed the food. I think it's one of the best Korean restaurants I've been to. I enjoyed everything and will come back. I love their Gimbap it was tightly wrapped and held its shape. The Jaeyook Dupbab the L7 for lunch was delicious. I always got to have the corn cheese at Korean restaurants. I can't wait to try more. I didn't picture the Korean bbq part of the menu. What a great experience. I never tried Korean food before and I wasn't sure what to expect. The prices were higher than expected, but since I had never tried Korean food before I can't complain about that. Our waiter Erin was a delight and he made excellent recommendations that we thoroughly enjoyed. The restaurant was open and clean with plenty of space. I enjoyed the Cucumber kimchi with our Hot Pot. We ordered beef Bibimbap for takeout. The gochujang sauce was missing which was a solid bummer and we ended up eating a bland sauceless bibimbap. It was around 4:30pm and not busy. So not sure how you can miss the main sauce in the order. So check your order before leaving the store. read more

My dad said there wasn't any good Korean food near him. So we found this place on yelp and said let's try it. We liked it! It was good food, good flavors, just as good as anything we would get on Long Island. The space was big and clean, and the service was attentive. Came for Korean bbq as a party of 3. We got the mixed combo for 2, and the portions were great. The pork and beef were fresh, lettuce was also served on the side to go with pork belly. The tteokbokki was not authentic with watery liquid sauce instead of a thickened sauce, and the rice cakes were dried out previously pre-cooking so there were cracks in them (didn't affect the taste, just an observation). For the sides other than beef, Bibimbap was good with a variety of ingredients, corn cheese was good, but the price for just corn cheese was 13 dollars (12.99) which is unreasonable for the minimal ingredients and effort that go in the dish. Steamed egg was super fluffy, 10/10 texture but not salted enough. I was happy to find a good kbbq place around Albany so I will be going back despite the minor issues mentioned above. read more

I frequent this place quite often with my significant other. The side dishes are excellent, I love the fish cake and the kimchi was especially flavorful this last time I came. It was my birthday and they gave me a $25 certificate for next time. I usually get the 2 person combo; and the portions are generous. I always take one of the sides home and the meat is flavorful. Had an amazing lunch here today. Food was delicious & portions huge. Had the BBQ combo with bulgogi, brisket, pork belly & marinated pork, we also had the steamed egg, cheese corn, and tofu soup. Lots of side dishes, including delicious and fresh kimchi. Our waitress was incredible, she helped us with the BBQ grill, and introduced us to a chestnut makgeolli which was so rich and refreshing we ended up buying 6 bottles to take home. The food and the service was good, but the prices changed. On the menu an item was priced 9.99 and on the bill it was 13.79. When I asked, they said it was a "credit card fee" and it would be less if it was cash. They should have the same price for both or have it stated on the menu. read more

This is the best Korean BBQ in the capital region. While they're obviously a big fish in a small pond, the food and service is excellent. We had the vegetable dumplings, which were crisp and flavorful, and then Galbi, also very good. read more
