We chose the BBQ, and we truly enjoyed everything we ordered. The cleanliness was outstanding, and the staff genuinely seemed happy in their work, which made the experience even more pleasant for us. The positive energy of the space, the ambiance, and the cheerful people around us made our time at the table even more enjoyable. We stop in Albany as a halfway point to going to visit our daughter in VT. We keep trying places. Thought this sounded interesting, and was close to our hotel. So disappointed. We did not cook our own food on the tables, as we were exhausted from our drive. We did pass by patrons doing so, and were not impressed enough to try this option. The bar appetizers sounded like they would be great. The food was awful. All frozen pre-fab products. The sampler appetizer was a debacle. Essence of cream cheese and crab in the rangoons, "dumplings" were certainly not gyoza. All of the items tasted like they came out a box. The scallion pancake was disastrous. My reviews follow the Yelp sequence of review...Food, service and ambiance. However our server Naha is 100% trash. The manager should be ashamed to let someone out on the floor like this and it is a disservice to what this restaurant is trying achieve. Please remove Maha from the floor and have her trained properly. You do not drop drinks, food, soups and other ordered items on the table. You put them down. In addition, she did not check on us until we were 2/3rds of the way done with our meal. If you look at my account I have dined in hundreds of places like this and not once did she check in early after the 1st round of meats were put on the grill to check if we needed a grill change or check on our status. Lastly, there are 5 people dining how hard was it for her to hand the drinks or put the drinks down close to the owner?!?! Why was she leaving it all on one end to pass down from the direction she came!?!? There was more than enough room to hand drinks to the person who order the drink; but again Maha just wanted to deliver poor experience. She may want to dine out so she learns some service skills. To top it off, once she probably realized she pooped the service portion she tells us at the END that there was a gratuity charge for 5 people. Who the fuck does this?!?! These gratuity stipulations are usually mentioned up front and not the end. So I am not sure if this was added to make up for inept and poor service. Plus gratuity inclusion such as this is usually for groups of 6 or more...My cousin who is also an Elite Yelper realized that this was going south but I saw it early on when she only had 3 tables and focused all her attention on the other two tables, then when it started to fill up I saw her do a grill change on a table within 30 minutes. But the food, beverages, refill droppings was just ridiculous and stupid on her part. Absolutely pure shit service and as a PSA to the manger, Maha made the dining experience pure garbage. Not good at all. I'll remove Maha's poor service from the food review. The food was ok. The meats (beef and pork) were tasteless or had a sour taste (quality). The fish was ok but I did not have any to comment but would have been better if Maha had offered a grill change to prevent sticking (yes, we could have asked but the food was just ok and did not order another round of fish). Surprisingly, the shrimp and mussels we ordered were good. Catastrophically, the Kim chi was apparently home made but was sour and pungent. However the dumplings, fried shrimp, scallops and xu mai were good. Just mediocre is how I would describe the food. Any of the places I took my two aunts recently, would blow this place away easily and offered a better dining and service experience. So if you are looking yum food, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. Ambiance is a shining point. Really nice and ornamented. Just right, not too flashy but not plain. Seating was spot on with good spacing between tables. Lighting was also perfect, not cave dark but not blinding. Sadly, poor service from Maha and mediocre food doomed this experience. This place was pretty hip inside. I really liked the decor. The service was alright, definitely not bad. I just can't help comparing it to Volcano in Niskayuna. That server went out of her way to make the experience meaningful. The food is also alright. I liked everything I ordered as far as taste, no real complaints there. I just wish that the food that was supposed to be hot was served hot and some of the meat was really fatty and sinewy. I loved that I got to order endless green tea and they had mini crème brûlée for dessert which I thought was a total win! They are super tiny so if you order the maximum of two that you are allowed then it is almost the size of one anywhere else. I really appreciate Mosu for never hassling me about dining alone. Yes, it's a little silly to go to Asian barbecue alone, but I do regularly! Other places sometimes give you a hard time about taking up a whole grill, but at Mosu, I've always felt welcome. On to the food: I am trying to figure out the smashed cucumber salad marinade, because I love it. The meats are usually well marinated and well cut. There are not as many choices as some other places, but I don't need too many! I like the modern decor, and the tables are spaced so you don't feel on top of the table next to you. Better than other Asian BBQ places I've been, they're quick to replace the grill when needed and clear the empty plates. You have to decide if you want hotpot or Asian BBQ as the tables are different, with different types of cookers at the tables. We decided to get the BBQ and shown how to use the iPads for ordering food, depending on whether you wanted lunch, dinner or all you can eat. We ordered various items and cooked them using metal tongs on each end of the table. Veggies, including mushrooms, all sorts of meats and seafood are brought uncooked to the table in small dishes and you grill them until they're done. You can also get items such as kimchi that are already prepared. The dining area is very modern yet cozy, with comfortable chairs. Definitely worth returning for more great dining! read more

They also offer an a la carte menu and a hotpot option as well. Been to Mosu often and the service is always great, servers are attentative and kind. Should you decide to get charged by the plate instead, you aren't told that you aren't getting the same size plate, it is an "individual", read WAY smaller, plate. My rule of thumb has always been that any place that spends an extravagant amount of money on decor is usually distracting from subpar food. This experience did not change that adage. 4.5 stars. Found a nice Korean AYCE In Albany. Open fire so no smoke from the grill and they change it regularly. The exhaust goes through the side of the fire so nothing hanging over head and you won't be smoked out. Portions are small so if you order from the tablet, make note it's a serving for 1 person. Some meats were seasoned well and we loved the lamb chops. Now that's a big plus, never had that in a Korean BBQ. I took off half a point coz the banchans were not that great, it could be better. Their dipping sauces are different so I had to ask for sesame oil and salt. Unfortunately they don't have crystal salts so I had to mix the oil with table salt. Hungry hippos of the 518 at all you can eat hot pot. One of our best experiences yet. Service: 4/5. Staff is super attentive and kind. There were a couple of mishaps, none of which ruined the experience though. First off, a trainee brought us a different table's order. This might sound disappointing, but some of the hippos got to try kimchi for the first time because of it. For the duration of the visit you order from a tablet, which went smooth except one forgotten order. Not a big deal though, we just ordered it again. Broth was refilled while we ate. Atmosphere: 5/5. I was at Mosu for a birthday dinner hot pot celebration and reservations were easily made online on their website. If you are anything like me, you will appreciate how user friendly their website is and it will give you a glimpse of what is on their menu. Options are endless as they also have Asian barbecue as well which I equate to a do it yourself hibachi. An important thing to note is that if you are there for lunch you have the option to order from either their all you can eat lunch menu, their more expansive dinner menu (also all you can eat) or from their a la carte menu. I think this is really great, especially for those who are looking to try something new but are not big eaters and want to keep within their budget. The ambiance is modern and clean with a really fun vibe. You can tell that the place is kept immaculate and everything served is brought to you fresh and with attention to detail. There's an iPad at the table where you simply select your drinks, and appetizers as well as your entree choices. The staff is friendly and very attentive and will patiently explain everything to you. I really enjoyed all the options available and included in the per person cost. You also have choices to add on many many more extras and skies the limit! During this visit we chose two hot pot soup options, bone broth as well as miso soup. It most certainly did not disappoint and the broths were delicious! Here's my beef. You have to pick hot pot or BBQ and that's a huge fail. As a lover of hotpot/BBQ's, it makes no sense to have one or the other. We settled on hotpot and the Szechuan and tom yum were both excellent and the broth was refilled by the terrific server. Service itself was an A+. Second major issue is there's no pork belly which is a MANDATORY item to try. The pork loin was sliced too thick. Third issue is there's no sauce bar where you can let your creativity flow! Let the inner scientist bloom. They give you three sauces. All kind of meh. These are likely three things novices might not know, but IYKYK. I saw some complaints about price, but $50 is fair for AYCE. Crème brûlée was missing vanilla which basically is the most essential ingredient. Tips for newbies: the Napa cabbage and soft tofu are must haves. Start with beef, go to pork, and then the seafood. But tbh, I would skip it because it wasn't great. But my point is seafood alters the flavor of the broth in a way that negatively impacts the beef. Don't eat rice. Avoid the noodles unless you have a big appetite. They're delicious, but also quite filling. Tip your servers in cash. You'll go throw A LOT of dishes. And lastly, order LOTS of SOJU. (Hot pot offers the diner the ability to cook their meats and vegetables in a steaming hot liquid and enjoy.) So, let's try the BBQ! Mosu offers ala carte or a one time fee to reap the rewards of Korean BBQ. Alcoholic or specialty drinks are not included in the price, but can be purchased separately. Also included in the one fee are appetizers (we picked deep fried calmari, shrimp and scallops), salads, and dessert. You select your meats/fish and vegetables from a tablet tableside. Your servers then deliver your raw choices tableside to cook on your personal grill. Selections include Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Pork, Seafood (shrimp and salmon), and several vegetable choices. Also on your tablet are suggested cooking instructions. You then have sauces for dipping to enhance the flavors or eat your cooked items sans sauces. We ordered several beef items including tongue and filet mignon. Veggys selected were asparagus, zucchini, mushrooms and lettuce wraps. Shrimp and calmari are cleaned and deveined ready for grilling. An enjoyable meal to say the least. Now my bad comment. I ordered a hot and sour soup. Their version of hot and sour is not. It is hot and sweet. What an experience! MOSU is an incredible date spot. I honestly forgot to take a lot of pictures because it was so fun. This isn't just a meal, it's a fun thing to do! This review is coming after a 3 hour blissful food coma. Just wow. This is all you can eat, so come hungry and pace yourself. You get two hours and can order as many times as you'd like. I think we ordered about 5 times over 1.5 hours. It's pricy but I felt it was 100% worth it for an occasion. Would be ideal for a larger group of people and you could literally sample the whole menu. You use an iPad to place all your orders for individual meats and sides. It was so seamless and the service was incredibly quick. It was easy and if you needed a drink, easy to order and quick to come. So we did Korean Bbq and you cook everything yourself, that makes it so fun. I thought it could possibly be stressful but you really wanna pace yourself so it was all perfect. It all cooks really fast, longest being chicken which was about 8 minutes total. Super fun. Think like, hibatchi but on a grill? The flavors are similar though the dishes so if you love hibatchi I think this is something new you'd love! We had some of the kitchen apps, plenty of fried rice, but it's the meat for me. I tried most of the cuts of steak, the marinated ribeye and thick cut ribeye were my favorite. We also had chicken, pork, lamb chops, shrimp, short ribs, some veggies. The sauces they offer are amazing and they all complimented the flavors so well. We came as a group of four. Parking is super easy in the plaza. The choice for all-you-can-eat is amazing for us who loves meat. The iPad for self ordering is really convenient, and our service guy is really nice in refilling water and changing grill. I'm a huge fan of the seaweed salad and cheesy corn. Fried rice is ok...less flavorful and too little of portion. But the quality of the meat is perfect in Albany. We almost got all kinds of beef if not second round. First time doing lamb and got really surprised by the juicy and flavorful meat. Love the fact that they have ice cream and smores for dessert. Unfortunately, I do not have any photos. Our family went tonight for the AYCE BBQ and loved it. While I normally eat very little meat, tonight was an exception. We had lamb, ribeye & fillet mignon, and several vegetable items. Our little one, who is normally picky about her veggies devoured her broccoli along with the lamb. I enjoyed the dry rub which was not needed at all because the food was yummy without it, but it added another layer of flavor that did not disappoint. I really want to give 3.5 stars. But that's not an option. So I'm going 4 because I'd rather "round up" and! I did not eat BBQ or Hot Pot, which is clearly the key reason to come to Mosu. WHAT A NICE SPOT! Super high ceilings with all sorts of creative design elements. Lots of windows and natural light. Airy, roomy space that still feels comfortable. The bar is at the center of the restaurant, flanked by two sections of Korean BBQ and Hot Pot tables. For those who don't know, Korean BBQ and Hot Pot are meals you cook yourself at your custom built table. It is a very social, communal, fun dining experience. I imagine it would be a great idea for a first date! Or really any date... I sat at the bar. The menu at the bar is designed around Asian street foods. I don't eat beef, pork or poultry, but there were still things for me to order. The only "challenge" was that portions were so large I couldn't try as many things as I wanted. Which, honestly, is not a "problem" if you're dining out like a regular person. Suffice it to say you can sit at the bar have a drink or two (they have a WIDE selection of beer, wine, craft cocktails, even an entire Sake Bomb section...!) and order one or two things and be full. I was interested in drinking sake and they have an entire sake menu. Like 5 or 6 choices, but that works for me! I was able to order a sake I liked and then I ordered hot tea and they had barley tea, which is really mainly the only tea I ever want. When I'm eating Korean or Japanese I always want my three beverages: sake, hot tea and water. And I drink all of them. I started out with Edamame. You can get regular or spicy. So, of course, I got spicy. Weirdly, this was the most disappointing Edamame I've ever had. It wasn't actually spicy, despite the large, dried peppers. But that wasn't the actual problem. The problem was the Edamame was undercooked. Someone didn't steam them long enough. They were borderline hard...!!?? I'm assuming it's not always this way. Someone made an error in that kitchen. Then I ordered Kimchi Tater Tots. PURE GENIUS! I am HERE for every "update" to Tater Tots. You want to do creative things with Tater Tots? I will try them! These are CRAZY DELICIOUS: Cheddar Cheese, Kewpie Mayo, Sriracha, Scallions, Teriyaki sauce. They hit ALL the notes you're looking for in a snack/bar food situation: hot, crispy, cheesy, a little spicy, flavorful. I'm not sure it would be a "good choice" to eat two orders of these. But I also can't say it would be the wrong choice... Scallion Pancake. There was SO MUCH Scallion Pancake (which was perfectly fried and thin and flaky) that I asked the bartender HOW MANY PANCAKES had been cut up to make this order?? Apparently you get at least TWO pancakes when you order this. Again, portion sizes are not small here. These were totally delicious. But I was starting to be scared about how much fried food I was eating. So I ordered fried tofu skewers. Look, all I can say is that the whole mountain of Kimchi Tater Tots had me not thinking straight. I probably should have chosen something "less" fried for the final thing. Positive: these were served so hot I almost hurt myself trying to eat them. Negative: the tofu itself was not tasty and the sauce was very sweet and syrupy. Just didn't work for me. I am most definitely a "savory" person. There are other things I would have tried if I hadn't stuffed myself with all the delicious tater tots and scallion pancakes! The thing about Mosu is that they are telling you PRECISELY who and what they are: Korean BBQ, Hot Pot, Bar Snacks. It is hard for me to resist anything involving snacks. WOWWW!! 5/5 stars all around, especially for a brand new restaurant, they have it down pat already and they've only been open a few weeks. Everything exceeded my exceptions. The decor is a vibe. It's definitely an up-scale establishment. Everywhere you turn there's something that catches your eye. We mad reservations for four on a Friday night at 4pm. We decided on the all-you-can-eat ($50 per person) so we could try a little bit of everything. Great menu, good variety of meats, fish, veggies, dessert, and cocktails. We tried a little bit of everything but I would say my FAVORITES were the crab rangoon as an appetizer, the Korean short ribs were unbelievable- we ordered 3 more servings of those- probably the best Korean ribs I've ever had. The curry chicken, filet mignon, and salmon were all tasty as well. The only negative thing I can say is the rice wasn't the tastiest but with some soy sauce, BAM! The drinks were all on point. I got the Bangkok Gimlet and it was so refreshing- Gin, Lime, Cane Sugar, Triple Sec, Thai Basil- *yum* One of the servers came out with a FRESH cut of meat (no marinade added) for our table that was unbelievable. It was so tasty, perfectly cut. The chef trained in Japan for over a decade before opening up this restaurant and they focus more on the quality and cut of meat than the marinade. Exceptional. I'm very bummed I didn't ask for the names of who served us because they were all top-notch. My boyfriend loves korean/Japanese/asian cuisine and he could not stop raving about this place. We have been for hot pot and bbq. The food is great. For hotpot we did all you could eat for four people, 4 adults was worth it possibly. 2 adults and 2 kids we came out well ahead doing a la carte. The only (big) negative is that you have two hours to eat. When we came for hotpot we got there 90 minutes before closing. Not knowing this, we started getting more aggressive service and reminders about an hour in they were closing in 30 minutes. About 75 minutes into Bbq we started getting reminders and more attentive service. The atmosphere is nice, well decorated. read more

WHEN: Friday @ 5pm We made a reservation ahead of time. My party of 3 were seated immediately after arrival. Mosu is capital region's first AYCE kbbq & hotpot. It's a hotspot for foodies to gather, catch up with friends, colleagues, special occasions. You better be half starving before going to Mosu. I've eaten a fair share of ayce kbbq in CA before, I made sure I didn't overeat throughout the day. Mosu interior was larger than expected. Very upscale chandelier and modern take on ayce restaurants. Half of the restaurant has built in grills on the tables, half of it has built-in hotpot stoves. You can't opt for both kbbq & hotpot, only one or the other. MENU SELECTIONS A large variety of steak cuts, sirloin, filet magnon, briskets, you say it they have it. Pork chops, lamp, seafood options. Variety of veggies as well. And snacks. It's AYCE, I made a mistake ordering too many snacks for apps that I couldn't finish. Don't forget Mosu charges for extra leftovers!!!! Don't over order and waste food. We ordered 2 rounds of meats and veggies and were filled after an hour of nonstop eating lettuce wrapped kbbq. I highly recommend ordering kimchi, Szechuan chili veggies to eat w kbbq meats so you can digest quicker while adding flavors. Small beverage selection that's included in the ayce- water, soda, juices. Boba, cocktails, soju, sparkling water are additional charge. VALUE Not sure if it's worth $50/person. It's definitely not your typical CA ayce kbbq. It's the first in the capital region, demand is low, ppl are willing to pay as much as they can to experience it. If you aren't THAT hungry or have small appetite, don't go to AYCE Mosu. I mean.. you don't want to spend $55 bbq if you only eat two pieces of meat, right? Anyways, I went to Mosu for the first time last week with my boyfriend. We ordered bunch of meats (mostly beef & pork) and veggies, appetizers (popcorn chicken, crab rangoon and edamame), desserts (creme brulee and smores) and barley tea (so good). It's worth the price for the all the food we ordered. The sauces they have is delicious--soy, gochujang and peanut sauce. Clever combo! Though gochujang is still my fave. Despite all the goodness of the food & experience, I am giving 4 stars because I think that their seafood selection is still limited. I was hoping they would have squids or octopus on the menu--considering this is still korean bbq place. But then, I thought to myself, this is a fusion restaurant too, so I should not have expected much. Also, another issue I got is that there's no exhaust for each grill. My eyes was a bit hurting due to the smoke. I guess I'm used to the korean bbq place in asia, where they have exhaust right on top of the grill, so that your clothes won't smell and your eyes are not hurting. Still, I like Mosu and I think it's an AYCE restaurant worth going. I cannot wait to try the hotpot. Overall, service is above and beyond, and I like that they are very attentive. read more
