Have been going there for years, with my wife. She passed away a year ago. Recently i went i alone and wanted to sit where we always sat. There was ONE OTHER PARTY in the restaurant, nearly empty. I went to sit in my regular seat an was told "it is for four people only. You can't sit there." We sat there for years and I have sat there alone also. I was treated poorly. I left. I wrote to them, called them, texted them, and NO Answer! I will never darken their door again. I was treated so horribly. read more

Can I give 10 stars??! Man oh man I am totally obsessed with this place. No wonder I'm a regular and this time I dragged my brother along. He said everything was so good it was almost too pretty to eat, but let's be real, we took the obligatory photos and then dug in. We pretty much licked the plates clean, from appetizers to dessert. Wu, the owner, is like a ninja, providing top-notch service, always refilling drinks and clearing plates. It's no wonder this place is always popping. And let's not forget how spotless this restaurant is, the staff and owners are like cleaning ninjas, always on top of it. Had dinner there last night and I found it to be very good. The restaurant was very clean and quite quiet which was very nice. I ordered the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce which isn't on the menu, but they will make it for you. They add a touch of ginger which I felt was perfect. Service was ok, a bit slow in the beginning but it went fine after that. Only difference here is I'm use to getting the noodles & duck sauce & hot mustard while I'm waiting and they didn't provide that. A good experience overall! read more

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. We ordered take out and my husband ordered a seafood dish. When he opened the container, there was a strong ammonia smell. We called the restaurant and whoever answered said they would see what was going on in the kitchen. Yeah. Never heard back from them. I had the Pad Thai and when I reheated the leftovers the next day, I found a piece of metal in the food. They've lost our business. read more

It had been almost four years since our last visit. Our recollection was that we had an enjoyable experience then and wondered why we hadn't returned sooner. In reality, we don't dine on Chinese very often and the pandemic has certainly had an influence on our frequency of dining out. But we do enjoy good sushi and sushi had been on our minds since my godchild had been invited to receive sushi skills training at a three-star Michelin restaurant in Kyoto, Japan. We were not surprised to see the restaurant fully occupied upon our arrival. What did surprise us was the amount of time it took for the receptionist to acknowledge our presence while she was taking an order on the phone. Maybe 10 minutes? An "I'll be right with you" would have been an improvement. Eventually when her call was finished, she told us what we could already see on our own - no tables were available. I don't recall if my wife then asked or we were informed, any of the seats at the sushi bar were available. It's always a pleasure to watch the sushi chefs up close. We chose seats with a perfect vantage point. We ordered tea for two ($3 each) while we studied the menu. While the menu is quite large, typical of most Chinese restaurants, we concentrated on the Sushi pages and the Thai Specialties. My wife ordered three different nigiri preparations, smoked salmon, white tuna, and red snapper (each nigiri order consists of 2 pieces, $6/nigiri order) and an Out Of Control roll ($17). All the fish was fresh, professionally presented, and reasonably proportioned (2 or 3 bites to each nigiri). While gari and wasabi were presented on the side of the plate of nigiri, these sushi chefs did not place a dab of wasabi on the ball of rice under the fish. The Out Of Control roll consisted of yellowtail, tuna, salmon, and asparagus inside the roll, and seared yellowtail, tuna, salmon, wasabi mayo, miso sauce, and crispy rice pearls on top of the roll. Yes, that sounds like a mouthful, and it is. It's also very tasty! I ordered Duck Curry ($28) - boneless duck in a red curry, and coconut milk simmered with pineapple, potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers, and basil leaves. It was listed with one pepper on the menu for spice level, and probably would have been designated a higher spice level rating at most other Asian restaurants in the Capital District, but this slightly increased spiciness was perfect for me. The duck was tender, and the skin was nice and crispy. I enjoyed it so much; I couldn't stop until I had totally cleared my plate. Jade Bistro will continue to remain as an occasional destination for us when craving an Asian meal. read more

at Jade Bistro in Scotia, NY we ordered ten items of which nine were good. The last item was roast duck which when I took the first piece it was dry & super tough to chew. I decided to try a second piece which was so hard I could not chew it at all! I called the restaurant & told the woman about it & she got angry & said she cut it & it was fine & hung up. I called again & asked for the manager who said, right away angry, she watched the cutting & it was fine. I told her it alone cost $30.00 & that It was uneatable. She hung up the phone!! The whole order was $160.92. I have cooked duck many times when we were younger & never was it tough, especially to the point of can't be chewed! We are in our 80's & our teeth have chewed tough but edible meats. Being on a fixed income I am very disappointed in a place that we have occasionaly enjoyed prior to this incident. Horrible service. We called ahead because we were a big group with 2 small kids, and when we got there we were the only people there - regardless it took 15+ minutes to be seated, and once seated we were never brought menus. My husband went to go get menus and the waiter (who was on the phone) told him "you need to have patience!" After we got the menus, we waited about another 10 minutes and were never even brought water or asked about drinks. We started packing up to leave when the waiter finally came over and asked if we needed something. We told him we were leaving and he very rudely said "you need patience, I'm very busy!!" Mind you, we were the ONLY table there and there were at least 5 staff that we could see. Disappointing as it was my sisters birthday and she normally likes their food. read more

don't go here on Christmas eve they were clearly over their head! I called early on to make a reservation for 2 but was told no worries no reservation needed, would be seated right away. arrived at 430, hostess who also just arrived didn't seem to have a clue as to operations for the evening. prior hostess seemed to be running the show. took forever just to be seated in an empty place. when we did get seated waiter told us right away to decide on dinner otherwise it would be 45 minutes. place was filling up quickly, felt sorry for groups with kids. the spicy rock shrimp tempura was just a big blob of tempura. the gyoza was average. the woo sen Thai chicken was another big blob of food served well before the other meal. no check in by waiter. other parties sat with no contact. The Spicy Tuna Dumplings are not only beautiful but delicious and perfect for sharing. I love the 3 roll sushi dinner and another favorite is the king po shrimp. My husband likes to try different spicy dishes and has really enjoyed the Thai Pad See Yu Chicken and Chicken Thai Style. If you love mojitos then, Jade has you covered, there are so many to choose from, my favorites are the Downtown and Tropical. Just a note about the hibachi, there are no actual interactive hibachi grills, but the food will still be delicious. read more

This place was spot on as far as the food goes. We did take out and this place was packed. With people waiting and more coming in. I had to wait a bit for my order too but it was worth it. We ordered 2 signature rolls. The naughty temptress and the pacific roll. Both fantastic. We also had a sushi appetizer, which was fresh and delicious, the shumai was great and an egg drop soup. I haven't had a good egg drop in a long time and this one was excellent!! They give you an ample amount of soy sauce and wasabi. Also they give you the eel sauce on the side which is a great idea. I would assume by the crowd that you should make a reservation to eat there on a Friday or Saturday evening. We will definitely return. Looking forward to dining there. read more

Food takes literally 1 and a half. Then they bring out 2 out of 3 dinners and 15 minutes later the third. When asked to warm it up so we all could eat together and was given the stink eye. Ordered a variety of items for my son's birthday celebration at home. Everything was absolutely delicious. Fresh, hot, well-prepared and plentiful. Very reasonably priced for all that we ordered. We have also dined in at the restaurant & always have a good experience. Not only did I find a hair in my sizzling platter but there was a long metal wire within the food. Most likely from some cleaning brush... When requesting a manager there was apparently none on site. I really love this little gem so much that I'm really shocked that I haven't written a review sooner. A friend of mine took me here a couple years ago, and I've been coming back every couple months ever since. The food is good, the atmosphere is festive, the staff is friendly, and it's a pretty lively place for drinks and dinner. Plus its right across the street from the Scotia Movie Theater, so it's a great place to grab a bite afterward. I usually start out with their shrimp Gyoza, which are scrumptious and yummy with their little dipping sauce, and a Peking Spring Roll which is deep fried, has shrimp inside, and comes with that orange sweet and sour sauce. Then I'll usually lean into my friend's plates for a taste of their other many delicious apps including Edamame (simple and classic), Shumai (one of my favorites), Thai Chicken Lettuce Cup (an incredible starter and highly recommended for the low carb crowd), or some California Rolls (I accepted that these will almost always be made with imitation crab when I moved back to the east coast, but I still enjoy them). Moving onto my dinner, I'd really love to write about all the wonderful dishes I've tasted, but it would be a true dishonor to not talk about the one dish I order almost EVERY single time... the Singapore Curry Rice Noodles! That savory yellow curry is so fantastic. It has just enough of a little kick to make my nose slightly runny, but not enough to ruin my taste buds for the weekend. It comes with two -- that's right folks TWO -- types of meat (shrimp and roast pork), atop thin rice noodles, and is mixed with egg and the yellow curry powder of course. So if you're in the neighborhood or just looking to check out a new spot with some great food, give Jade Bistro a shot. Then we asked someone else and she didn't know and asked the short woman who then said we needed to wait at the side where we we're completely blown off! Jade bistro has been my best takeout find during quarantine. I am usually skeptical about pan-asian places with multiple cuisines because I expect them all to be mediocre instead of having one great specialty. But having now tried the Thai, Chinese, and Japanese dishes here I can attest that they are all pretty good. My main point of excitement is the thai pad see ew (or yu on this menu). I had a great version of this dish out of town recently and have been searching ever since then for something comparable in the capital district. This dish is excellent here. The noodles are the perfect consistency - kind of gummy and slippery. The sauce is applied just right and has a hint of spice. And there is some smokiness from the cooking (maybe a wok). It's delicious and by far the best I've tasted around here so far. read more

As I drove over to the Mohawk Taproom this afternoon, I noticed Jade Bistro and decided to give it a chance, and I'm glad I did. I can really only speak to their sushi and sashimi, which was wonderful and thoughtfully presented. Apparently their fish is delivered from NYC daily. We also tried a pair of daily special appetizers which were creative and tasty. The real highlight here, however, was that the de facto junior restaurant manager is the owner's adorably savvy teenage son. Two slight criticisms: It definitely gets a bit noisy when the place is crowded... the metal roof can certainly reverberate some sound! We enjoy Jade Bistro very much! They have done a great job during COVID keeping up with orders, you always see a bunch of cars in the parking lot waiting for food. They have a TON of options. Very pleased with our recent trip to jade bistro. We went at 5:00 on a Friday and it was not busy at all. By 6:00 it was getting kind of busy, but still no wait. Classy indoor seating, with a great looking sushi bar. Definitely want to sit at the bar next time. We got a number of the Mojitos, all of which were great. I think the favorite was the Tropical Mojito. For food, we got the tempura fried avocado, which was fantastic but nuclear temperature (hah). We each got a roll and split a Pad Thai. Food was good, sushi was fresh and large portions. Will definitely be making this a regular spot! read more

I have to admit- when I first moved back to the area and my favorite Chinese buffet was now a regular restaurant I was a little disappointed. But after visiting, I'm anything but. I came for lunch between classes and the whole visit was wonderful. My waitress was attentive but not overwhelming. My food came promptly and was SO good. I'm always nervous to try curry in a new place but they did not disappoint. There was a lot of veggies in there but plenty of chicken, too. And it just tasted so good! The lunch specials come with a spring roll, salad and California roll but I don't like sushi so I asked they didn't bring the California roll. The waitress didn't even hesitate or seem bothered at all at my request and said they would give me 2 spring rolls instead. In fact she was just as peppy as she was before I asked to change things up. For me that's a big deal. I often feel like I'm putting people out with my preferences, but she didn't make me feel that way at all. I look forward to visiting again when I'm not in a rush to enjoy myself. FIVE DOLLARS. yes, 5.00. for RICE. we were both freaking out over the total amt. of 88.00 for our two meals, as it was, then she noticed the 5.00 charge for the rice. she then noticed the price difference on the check, compared to those on the menu. they charged us an extra 5.00 for my meal of "sizzling chicken" whatever it was platter, and an extra 6.00 for her shrimp and whatever meal. they need to update the menu so people KNOW OF THE STEEP PRICE INCREASE. we were both so stunned by the total amt., and my friend was so shocked they charged so much for the rice, that we just sort of stumbled out like drunken zombies. the next day we were angry at ourselves for not saying something. it's called "sticker shock", i guess? an indian restaurant we love in clifton park always just sends us home with our leftovers w. fresh, extra rice, without us even asking. our minds were blown after our last visit to jade bistro. Went here with family for a quick bite before catching a movie because it's one of their favorites and I can see why! The menu has so many options all for a very good price. The General Tso's chicken was hands down one of the best I've ever had, the chicken was unreal! They also have some of the most creative sushi rolls I've ever seen which adds a fun little twist.
