Knife skills are critical.

It had been almost four years since our last visit. Our recollection was that we had an enjoyable experience then and wondered why we hadn't returned sooner. In reality, we don't dine on Chinese very often and the pandemic has certainly had an influence on our frequency of dining out. But we do enjoy good sushi and sushi had been on our minds since my godchild had been invited to receive sushi skills training at a three-star Michelin restaurant in Kyoto, Japan. We were not surprised to see the restaurant fully occupied upon our arrival. What did surprise us was the amount of time it took for the receptionist to acknowledge our presence while she was taking an order on the phone. Maybe 10 minutes? An "I'll be right with you" would have been an improvement. Eventually when her call was finished, she told us what we could already see on our own - no tables were available. I don't recall if my wife then asked or we were informed, any of the seats at the sushi bar were available. It's always a pleasure to watch the sushi chefs up close. We chose seats with a perfect vantage point. We ordered tea for two ($3 each) while we studied the menu. While the menu is quite large, typical of most Chinese restaurants, we concentrated on the Sushi pages and the Thai Specialties. My wife ordered three different nigiri preparations, smoked salmon, white tuna, and red snapper (each nigiri order consists of 2 pieces, $6/nigiri order) and an Out Of Control roll ($17). All the fish was fresh, professionally presented, and reasonably proportioned (2 or 3 bites to each nigiri). While gari and wasabi were presented on the side of the plate of nigiri, these sushi chefs did not place a dab of wasabi on the ball of rice under the fish. The Out Of Control roll consisted of yellowtail, tuna, salmon, and asparagus inside the roll, and seared yellowtail, tuna, salmon, wasabi mayo, miso sauce, and crispy rice pearls on top of the roll. Yes, that sounds like a mouthful, and it is. It's also very tasty! I ordered Duck Curry ($28) - boneless duck in a red curry, and coconut milk simmered with pineapple, potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers, and basil leaves. It was listed with one pepper on the menu for spice level, and probably would have been designated a higher spice level rating at most other Asian restaurants in the Capital District, but this slightly increased spiciness was perfect for me. The duck was tender, and the skin was nice and crispy. I enjoyed it so much; I couldn't stop until I had totally cleared my plate. Jade Bistro will continue to remain as an occasional destination for us when craving an Asian meal.

I had lunch here recently with a friend. It was pretty slow so the server was plenty nice and attentive. We ordered the gyoza, the Tom Yum with Chicken soup, the Wonton soup and the Sex on the Beach roll. Everything I would order again except for the wonton soup. Unfortunately it was the quality of a take out Chinese restaurant. So would definitely never order that again.

If you and your family/friends can't decide between sushi, Chinese, Thai or hibachi, then Jade will check all of the boxes. Jade as some of my favorite options in the 518. The Spicy Tuna Dumplings are not only beautiful but delicious and perfect for sharing. I love the 3 roll sushi dinner and another favorite is the king po shrimp. My husband likes to try different spicy dishes and has really enjoyed the Thai Pad See Yu Chicken and Chicken Thai Style. If you love mojitos then, Jade has you covered, there are so many to choose from, my favorites are the Downtown and Tropical. Just a note about the hibachi, there are no actual interactive hibachi grills, but the food will still be delicious.

Service was slow but the waiter did eventually remember to bring us water. Instead of telling my friend the sake she ordered was seasonal they substituted without ask her. All the sushi and rolls ordered were fresh and well presented. This is a nice place to eat in Scotia. The sashimi cuts were thick. The fish was fresh.

I really love this little gem so much that I'm really shocked that I haven't written a review sooner. A friend of mine took me here a couple years ago, and I've been coming back every couple months ever since. The food is good, the atmosphere is festive, the staff is friendly, and it's a pretty lively place for drinks and dinner. Plus its right across the street from the Scotia Movie Theater, so it's a great place to grab a bite afterward. I usually start out with their shrimp Gyoza, which are scrumptious and yummy with their little dipping sauce, and a Peking Spring Roll which is deep fried, has shrimp inside, and comes with that orange sweet and sour sauce. Then I'll usually lean into my friend's plates for a taste of their other many delicious apps including Edamame (simple and classic), Shumai (one of my favorites), Thai Chicken Lettuce Cup (an incredible starter and highly recommended for the low carb crowd), or some California Rolls (I accepted that these will almost always be made with imitation crab when I moved back to the east coast, but I still enjoy them). Moving onto my dinner, I'd really love to write about all the wonderful dishes I've tasted, but it would be a true dishonor to not talk about the one dish I order almost EVERY single time... the Singapore Curry Rice Noodles! That savory yellow curry is so fantastic. It has just enough of a little kick to make my nose slightly runny, but not enough to ruin my taste buds for the weekend. It comes with two -- that's right folks TWO -- types of meat (shrimp and roast pork), atop thin rice noodles, and is mixed with egg and the yellow curry powder of course. So if you're in the neighborhood or just looking to check out a new spot with some great food, give Jade Bistro a shot. You might see me with friends getting a little sloppy from too many Lychee or Crisp Cucumber-martinis!

Terrible treatment! Short woman motioned to us to go down the isle to the right and took off leaving us to guess where she meant for us to sit. Then we asked someone else and she didn't know and asked the short woman who then said we needed to wait at the side where we we're completely blown off! Not nice to ignore an elderly woman with a walker and her husband leaving them to have to leave back out into the cold!!!!! I'd give a zero if I could. That woman's treatment was beyond rude!

There's a parking lot and some gorgeous decor inside. The restrooms are sparkling clean. The service is top-notch and the staff is happy to answer any questions about allergies. And the food... yummy. My party of 6 enjoyed pork, duck, and beef. We passed each others plates in a circle and sampled everything. I was a big fan of the salmon at Van's and almost went with that at Saigon but was convinced to try something different so I went with the pork. I'm not usually a pork fan but I've had Vietnamese pork before and enjoyed it. The pork here was perfection. There are so many dining options in Clifton park but if you have the opportunity to check out Saigon Spring, you absolutely should

I enjoyed my usual small bowl of Shrimp and Pork Wonton Soup ($8.00) with tender dumplings, egg noodles, scallions, cilantro, and crispy shallots in a flavorful broth. Best ever. Upon my recommendation, we both ordered the Shaking Beef, or Bò Lúc Lắc, ($25.) which is a delicious Vietnamese dish of marbled cubes of beef tossed in all the good stuff: soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, a little sugar, butter, garlic, and black pepper. Everything is shaken around in the wok to get a nice all-around sear, hence the name...Shaking Beef! We enjoyed it with Brown Rice instead of Jasmine. Kudos: The cubed filet mignon was cooked perfectly; it was tender and pink in middle. Outstanding! Two reactions: --I did not like the lime dipping sauce because it was very salty (grains of Sea Salt intact)served in a small dish that was on the plate, so next time I will order another type of sauce. However, the beef was flavorful without it. --There were too many sliced red onions and not enough spring onions. Our two orders to go (Pho with Filet and Chicken Wings) were ready when we finished lunch. Grandsons were delighted! Service was efficient and courteous as usual.

The atmosphere is welcoming, they have a hibachi grill "Ting Ting Flip" room for parties, a sushi bar, and a nice dining area. It's all a great use of space for a restaurant that isn't necessarily huge, but also does not feel cramped. There's mild background music playing, so you never feel awkward between chats. And the lighting is just right, without being too dim or annoyingly bright. I started with Crab Rangoons and a California Roll. The rangoons were crispy and delicious. The California roll was fresh and hit the spot. But the Basil Chicken really blew me away tonight. It came with a mushroom broth soup which was yummy and a simple Japanese salad with a delicious sesame dressing ~ perfect for that umami craving. The main course Basil Chicken was packed with vegetables, perfectly cooked chicken, and although it was mild, had a nice kick to it. On display mushrooms, red and green peppers, onion, eggplant, broccoli, and asparagus. Really a full serving of all the good vegetables you need! The basil was not overpowering, and complimented the rest of the dish with that basil pop of flavor. Definitely will come back to order this one again!

As someone who's gluten-free, I was especially impressed by the variety of options available. The gluten-free Thai basil chicken was packed with flavor, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of heat. The gluten-free fried rice was fresh and satisfying, and the gluten-free chicken pad Thai was honestly one of the best I've had--super flavorful, not overly sweet, and cooked just right. The atmosphere is modern, clean, and welcoming--great for a casual dinner that still feels a little elevated. On top of that, the pricing was very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Huge bonus: they offer free parking for up to three hours just steps from the restaurant, which made the whole experience even more convenient. I'll absolutely be back, if we ever return to Lennox.
