The food here is pretty good and unique. Tai Pan offers South East Asia and Hong Kong cuisine including mostly Chinese and a bit of Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian for dine-in or takeout (prices & offerings vary slightly between menus), with lots of spicy dishes offered. You can get dishes like SESAME CHICKEN (gets a 5.0 by one of my friends), Chow Mein, Roast Duck, Satay, Pad Thai, Chicken Rendang, Evil Jungle Prince, and Pho Bowl. The Takeout Lunch Menu offers 22 choices ($5.45-$6.05) served with fried rice. The Dine-In Lunch Menu offers over 30 choices (most priced at $7.75) served with vegetable fried rice and choice of soup. Special Combination plates ($6.65-$7.75) are served with spring roll & fried rice. The atmosphere is like visiting a large wooden house in Asia with nice decor and wood floors. I stopped in here for lunch recently around opening time. I was given complementary fried rice noodles with duck sauce & hot mustard and a pot of hot tea & ice water. I ordered the Pad Thai with Shrimp ($7.75) lunch combo. The Hot & Sour Soup was thick and spicy. The Pad Thai was pretty good and made spicy and had plenty of shrimp, eggs, sprouts, vegetables, & crushed peanuts, more of a stir fried version here instead of the usual sticky version I've had at other places. The Vegetable Fried Rice was tasty. The service was good and timely since I was the only diner here.

Maybe it should have been a warning sign when it took the staff 20-25 minutes to seat us after saying "one minute". Maybe her not coming back but rushing around doing other things should have been another warning sign. Maybe when they sat us in the section off of the front I shouldn't have said "I feel like I'm sitting in a hallway, let's move". Maybe all of the to go orders I saw should have been yet another sign. I must be colorblind when it comes to red flags! After about 30-40(20-25 for first table, another ten or so for second one) minutes we finally sat down. The place wasn't very crowded. It was us and another table(family of four) in our section, 1 table in another, and 3 tables in the third section. I did notice something a bit *off* when we first sat down. That was that there were three tables in need of clearing in our section. Took about 10 minutes to put in a drink order and get the obligatory crispy noodles and sauces. We also put or dinner orders in then as well. Seemed like the smart thing to do.. get it done while she's at our table was the idea. After a few minutes a table from another section got up and said "we're leaving! We've been here an hour and haven't seen any of our food.". Hmm. Then the table next to ours got some of their food, the two kids dinners. Awhile after that the parents dish came out. Some time after that the woman pulled the waitress aside and said something like "I'm paying because I have to but I'm not happy. Our dinner came out after the kids were finished, we never got one of our dinners and the table next to us and another already left. This isn't ok.". Hmm. All signs pointed to run but we stayed put. About 40 minutes later our appetizer came out. We ordered the pu pu platter. It was good but would have been better hot or at least warm. It had been sitting awhile. The satay was juicy and had a nice flavor to it, the cheese wontons were fried nicely. I don't eat ribs but my date(daughter) liked them and was a fan of the spring rolls as well. Dinner came about 20 minutes later. I order pad thai. It had that look food gets when it sits awhile and it also had onions which I didn't want. The waitress had the kitchen make up a new dish, which was a good thing because it came out hot. Very tasty. Though I didn't eat much because my appetite was pretty much gone. My daughter ordered the sesame chicken and wasn't the biggest fan of it. It was basically chicken, fried sweet and sour style with sesame sauce over it. I liked it and thought the crispiness was light and nice, and enjoyed the flavor. The total came to about $44.00, $52.00 with tip. The service was nice and did a good job when they were around. She said someone called in and that's why they were so behind. I'm not sure how just one person can throw off an entire restaurant though. While waiting to be seated a lady picking up take-out said "service is slow here, but the food is good".. that says it all. 1 star for the food because I really enjoyed it. 1 star for the service, they were great when they were around. -3stars for the ridiculous wait for everything and no warning.

First we asked for water to start Waiter eventually brought water no ice about 2/3 full. We ordered soup I had hot and sour My wife had wonton soup ($6.95) for a CUP Mine came out hers didnt waiter said it had to be made "special" when hers came my wife tried and imediately said this is terrible! She passed it over and insisted I try! Omg Soapy dishwater tasting broth (almost like a crappy miso.... We had pan fried porstickers which were fine My wife ordered chicken with broccoli I asked waiter if I could get the chicken with broccoli in a garlic sauce he said "no the chef would get angry if he asked" He suggest to get the chicken in ginger garlic sauce... I asked (because I'm diabetic) "what vegtables Came in that dish" he said Corn and a bunch of other veggies... so I ordered that... My wife's food came out and was 'ok' Mine followed about 5 minutes later Not ONE single vegetable!! Chicken a few mushrooms and a ton of PASTA... omg 80% pasta (which as a diabetic is your worst enemy!!! Worse the ginger garlic sauce had no flavor.... Oh yes I almost forgot the waiter asked us while ordering "do you both want white rice?" He brought us both a clump of sticky 'rice ball' And charged us both extra $$ on top of the $16.95 and $17.95 that we each spent on our plates!!!! What Chinese restaurant charges extra for white rice? Being diabetic I knew I wouldn't eat much if any... Anyway we paid for Everything even the soapy soup!!! $60 -$40 coupon Yuck Yuck Yuckooo One and done!!!! Couldn't get out of there fast enough.... Trust me**** Skip this one folks

I would like to return to try other dishes. I ordered Jasmine Green Tea, a cup of Hot and Sour Soup, and Singapore Noodles. A pot of tea arrived quickly which pleased me. I often judge a Chinese restaurant by the quality and taste of its Hot and Sour Soup. This soup was excellent in comparison. The broth was a good balance of flavors. It was just spicy enough. It had fresh mushrooms and tofu. Five Stars for the soup. When I saw the check later, I realized it was included free with my lunch. The Singapore Noodles was a large portion, but disappointing in that I could barely detect the yellow curry. The rice noodles needed more sauce or spice! The chicken strips were tender. There were onion pieces as well as scallions in it. Three Stars. But I will return. There are many booths in the restaurant as well as a long row of connected tables in the center for large groups. The restaurant was clean. One booth had four men who spoke only Chinese to the server. That is a sign that the food is good here. Server was efficient and helpful. Parking is right outside of restaurant in a strip of businesses that incudes Saigon Spring, a favorite.

We placed our order and the owner who has his face plastered everywhere had an arrogant attitude. He acted like we were wasting his time. We ordered 3 general tso combos with pork fired rice, two mango pineapple smoothies, and three mochi donuts. We asked for white meat which he said with a huff and puff that everything is white meat. This wasn't the case, the chicken was tough to eat and had a lot of dough compared to chicken. It had globs of sauce on it which did taste kind of good. We asked for pork fried rice which to our knowledge included in the 11.11 price. No no no it was 2 extra per plate. So now we're looking at 13.11 per combo. My fault for not reading the menu fine print that you can see was tapped to the window in my included photo, top left of the photo. Not only that, what I got was chicken fried rice which if I had to pick was the only good tasting item I had. The smoothies had a chemical taste to them, it didn't taste like a real smoothie. We asked for boba and he immediately said that is extra. They had 3 donuts o a rack that looked like a display case, so we ordered 3 to try out. First time eating mochi donuts. He took them out the case threw them in a box and put all our food on a table while we were standing in front of him. The rose donut tastes like eating a real rose. Not sure how you guys feel about that. The churro donut had little flavor. The cookies and cream donut was good. Total damage was 64 dollars. I would have been better off going to a buffet. At least if the service was better maybe I would have gave it 2 stars. We won't be coming back here.

I enjoyed my usual small bowl of Shrimp and Pork Wonton Soup ($8.00) with tender dumplings, egg noodles, scallions, cilantro, and crispy shallots in a flavorful broth. Best ever. Upon my recommendation, we both ordered the Shaking Beef, or Bò Lúc Lắc, ($25.) which is a delicious Vietnamese dish of marbled cubes of beef tossed in all the good stuff: soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, a little sugar, butter, garlic, and black pepper. Kudos: The cubed filet mignon was cooked perfectly; it was tender and pink in middle. Outstanding! Two reactions: --I did not like the lime dipping sauce because it was very salty (grains of Sea Salt intact)served in a small dish that was on the plate, so next time I will order another type of sauce. However, the beef was flavorful without it. --There were too many sliced red onions and not enough spring onions. We were a group of nine that included a few children. We went all out. The clear soup was good and flavorful. The salad was fresh and we loved the dressing. The scallops and shrimp were meaty and perfectly grilled. Others got steak cooked to their liking and some got salmon. Apps were edamame and a dragon roll and spicy tuna. I didn't try the apps but it was a fancy presentation. Everything was just so good. The service was impeccable. The chef was super engaging with everyone, including the littles. Hibachi is always fun and they are pros on fun. They handled our group with humor and the theatrics you've become accustomed to at hibachi dinner were on point.
