They have the best pho I've ever tried and the service was fast and great despite them being very busy when I went!

Saigon Spring is one of my favorite restaurants in the Capital Region. I cannot believe, I have never reviewed them. The staff, the food, the everything is just wonderful. I really like the tofu steak, the shredded tofu over rice noodles (with many vegetables), the crispy roasted chicken, the shaking beef, and the crispy vegetarian rolls. I like their pho as well, but the tofu steak is so delicious, I hardly ever deviate. I appreciate their tea options which are served in a pot. I usually get a pot of ban shan tea which is very calming. The space is neat and clean. The ambiance is created by the people more so than the decor. When you look around, people are just enjoying their food and each other. Those, like me, sitting solo, are eating our meals like it is satisfying more than physical hunger. I am truly grateful Saigon Spring and those who make it so special are here. read more

Saigon Spring is the glow-up to Van's in downtown Albany. The owners are the same and the menu is similar, but the experience at Saigon Spring feels elevated. There's a parking lot and some gorgeous decor inside. The restrooms are sparkling clean. The service is top-notch and the staff is happy to answer any questions about allergies. And the food... yummy. My party of 6 enjoyed pork, duck, and beef. We passed each others plates in a circle and sampled everything. I was a big fan of the salmon at Van's and almost went with that at Saigon but was convinced to try something different so I went with the pork. I'm not usually a pork fan but I've had Vietnamese pork before and enjoyed it. The pork here was perfection. Lunch with my daughter today was a delicious respite in a serene setting in the middle of a busy day. That is what we wanted and knew we would get. I enjoyed my usual small bowl of Shrimp and Pork Wonton Soup ($8.00) with tender dumplings, egg noodles, scallions, cilantro, and crispy shallots in a flavorful broth. Best ever. Upon my recommendation, we both ordered the Shaking Beef, or Bò Lúc Lắc, ($25.) which is a delicious Vietnamese dish of marbled cubes of beef tossed in all the good stuff: soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, a little sugar, butter, garlic, and black pepper. Everything is shaken around in the wok to get a nice all-around sear, hence the name...Shaking Beef! We enjoyed it with Brown Rice instead of Jasmine. Kudos: The cubed filet mignon was cooked perfectly; it was tender and pink in middle. Outstanding! Two reactions: --I did not like the lime dipping sauce because it was very salty (grains of Sea Salt intact)served in a small dish that was on the plate, so next time I will order another type of sauce. However, the beef was flavorful without it. --There were too many sliced red onions and not enough spring onions. Our two orders to go (Pho with Filet and Chicken Wings) were ready when we finished lunch. Grandsons were delighted! Service was efficient and courteous as usual. read more

I was referred to this restaurant from a Facebook group and was not disappointed! The restaurant is huge! We got seated quickly. Service is fast and friendly. The appetizers were very good. Their bo luc lac is served with the traditional dipping sauce. The meat was very tender. The pork vermicelli bowl had the right flavor but I personally like leaner slices with little to no fat so I didn't eat much it. The lychee black tea was very good! I've heard that Saigon Sprng is the real deal and I was excited for dinner. I walked in early on a weeknight and when I left it was packed! The place feels spacious and seating is ample. Their authentic dishes all sounded tasty and it was not an easy choice. I ordered the chicken wings with pickled vegetables, pho tai (rare beef noodle soup) in a 27 hour beef bone broth and the grilled beef slices over jasmine rice. It was all delish and really hit the spot, especially the soup on a cold night out. My cravings here were completely satisfied. Service was friendly and very prompt. Wow! Friends brought me here for dinner. I had come in years before after they first opened and was blown away by the remodeled space. We arrived just as they opened and receiver quick service. We've always enjoyed our meals at Saigon Spring. It is a favorite location for us to order Pho. On this Sunday we both had an interest in trying something different. I had a craving for seafood and spied their Coconut Seafood ($28) on the menu. A combination of shrimp and scallops on a bed of spring onion, bean sprouts, cucumber, mint, lettuce, and rice vermicelli noodles sounded so delicious. It was! The sweetened clear sauce in the bottom of the dish was good enough to drink by itself. While the shrimp were slightly overcooked, the scallops were perfectly cooked. Overall, a very enjoyable dish. My wife ordered the Shrimp Summer Rolls ($10) for us to share, and they were excellent, as usual. For her dinner, she had the Shredded Tofu and Thick Vermicelli Noodles ($17). Its sauteed tofu slices were served with braised gluten, carrots, yellow onion, and spring onion, served on a bed of vermicelli noodles with bean sprouts, cucumber, mint, and lettuce. Her clear sauce was different than what I had on my dish, it was not sweet, but it was just as desirable to want to drink. Service was very prompt and efficient. I'm adding that last star to my rating because they had something available that I haven't seen in a restaurant in quite some time - toothpicks, individually wrapped on the counter as we were leaving. They were right next to the lollipops and the Kopiko candies. BTW, Kopiko candies are worth a half-star all on their own. read more

Being Vietnamese, I don't play around when it comes to pho. After seeing great reviews, we tried Saigon Spring--bún bò huế with spare rib and phở tái. The herb plate was sad: one wilted basil sprig and old bean sprouts. Had to track down sauces myself. Service wasn't friendly or attentive. For $50, this was a very mediocre experience. Decided to try Saigon Spring Restaurant. Entering the restaurant the smell of spices immediately set your stomach growling. Lunch crowd was adequate but not too busy. My starter appetizer was the Pork Spring rolls due to the customer recommendations. The pork had a teriyaki-ess type of sweet taste which went well with the noodles and vegetables and very well with the slightly acidic dipping sauce. Very nice presentation. Decided to go with the Short rib Pho. Best decision ever!! The soup broth fantastic! All the condiments- bean sprouts, mint, lemon, cilantro , spring onions made this bowl of rich broth really stand out..... The short rib itself was a stand-alone item. Large, meaty, super soft, came off the bone, very well seasoned. Hoisin sauce added a more beefy taste. Staff were very soft spoken and attentive. Restaurant clean and welcoming. Okay so this is the 3rd time that I have eaten at this restaurant. I was able to have a lunch meeting here recently and slightly reluctantly after my previous 2 experiences being pretty poor. The last two times I went were for dinner service though. Not sure if there is a difference in staff between lunch and dinner but the stark difference must come from somewhere. It definitely had a respectable lunchtime crowd, not filled but not empty either. The ambience and decor is a bit dated and drab but I typically always look over that if the food is good, because honestly that's what I care about most. But anywho, I was prepared to write a poor review after that meeting but boy did they surprise me! The only snag I would say would be that it took our server a much longer time to greet our table and take a drink order than is appropriate. But minus that I ordered an excellently flavored Thai iced tea and a grilled curry shrimp dish with roasted peanuts over vermicelli rice noodles complete with an incredibly tasty and intensely crispy spring roll! All the menu items are written in Vietnamese so I will try my best to label everything correctly. My clients both order the shrimp Pho. The broth was delicately flavored and delicious and came with a plate full of condiments. The remainder of service was fast, efficient and friendly! After not being able to recommend this place in the past based on my previous 2 experiences, I am happy to recommend it now! Some very tasty food here people! Had the best pho dac biet of my 20+ visits the week before Christmas 2023 when I arrived at the peak of the lunch rush rather than waiting till it was over. Rich broth, perfect temperature, generous amount of protein... everything just right. My theory now is that they do setups at lunch and if you come later you will get a bowl of pho using whatever is left over.... explaining why broth has sometimes been thin and the protein skimpy. So I now have a new strategy... high noon or bust! By the way, it's been a long time since I've talked about anything but the pho. I have been dreaming of this pho since I've had it. We were in town for a concert and stayed in Clifton park for the weekend and found this place on a whim when we were looking for something warm on a cold day. We saw the great reviews and went for dinner at 5. The place was slowly starting to get busy even though it was so early! I got the beef pho and shared spring rolls with my husband. The spring rolls were perfect and the sauce was so good! My pho was AMAZING and I couldn't stop eating it. I brought the leftovers home and wish I could recreate it for myself. Very well kept Viet restaurant in Clifton Park, NY. I'm visiting the area from CA and was craving pho. Was greeted promptly and a table was cleaned for me immediately. Restaurant was about 40% capacity for lunch, but their space is quite large so still quite a crowd. I ordered a pot of jasmine tea and Pho Dac Biet. The tea was great, hard to mess that up lol. Pho came out in about 7-10 minutes and was accompanied by a veggie plate with a lime wedge, 2 jalapeño slices, a small dish of sriracha and hoisin, and a heap of bean sprouts. Was disappointed there was no Thai basil, but didn't ask for any as no one came back to check on me until the bill was brought. The actual pho was delicious. The broth was sweeter than i'm used to and had a nice spiced undertone that reminded me of masala chai (maybe clove or cardamom?). Noodles were firm, but not hard, and didn't stick together. Pho dac biet has a combination of meat, but the brisket really stood out to me as it was very tender. I also appreciated the size of the tripe pieces, as it made it much easier to eat accompanied with other things. Overall, food was very good, service was prompt, just wished someone would have came to check on me once while I was eating so I could have asked about the basil. read more

Saigon Spring surprised me (in a good way!), because I did not expect to find good-tasting Vietnamese food in Albany. I came with my boyfie and his friends, and we all got the stir fried noodles, a couple bowls of pho, and grilled chicken with vermicelli bowl. The grilled chicken with vermicelli bowl (my order) was actually very tasty. It's rare that I can find a Vietnamese place that grills their chicken so well, but Saigon Spring was an exception. The meat was so juicy and so tender. My one gripe, though, was that the fish sauce was poured into my noodles upon serving. I prefer having the fish sauce on the side, as transporting leftovers in a go-to container can get messy otherwise. (My leftovers actually ended up spilling in the car, which was unfortunate.) On the bright side, Saigon Spring serves hefty portions of food at relatively affordable prices. I actually had enough to make another 2 meals the next day! The only other issue we came across was the time it took for us to get seated. I felt that service was a bit slow, and we had to go out of our way for a waiter/waitress to take our orders and provide us our check. All in all, though, I would highly recommend Saigon Spring for a delicious and authentic Vietnamese meal. read more

My obsession with spicy noodle soups just keeps growing deeper. I knew the concept, flavor profiles, options and the idea of Pho, but never had it. I knew I must, and I knew Saigon Spring had some of the best on the area, and I knew I should come with some experienced pho consumers. This is how I ended up here to enjoy a beautiful hot bowl of pho on this rainy afternoon. We only ordered some pho, we went the special pho, which came with three meats. We were provided very fast service, our plate of different topping was brought immediately and our steaming hot bowls of pho were brought in minutes. It was a huge bowl packed with flavor. I added on the beam sprouts, jalapeño, basil, hoisin, sriracha and a squeeze of lime. Some bites were great, some were spicy, it was such a fun dish. The flavor profile was great and provided a great base to make it your own. To sum it up, I'm a new fan of pho! Can't wait to return. read more

What a find!!!! Every place I've tried pho since moving to upstate NY has been somewhat disappointing. So when I tried this place, I was excited but also a little reluctant. Turns out, I didn't need to be! First, the staff here is so friendly. Everyone smiles at you and is attentive. I got the crispy vegetable spring rolls to start, and boy were they good. The fried shell was different than the spring rolls I'm used to, but in a good way. They were crunchy but soft, and had their own flavor. The texture was more rough than the usual flat and flaky, and it was a pleasant change! They were delicious, especially with the sauce, and light enough that it didn't spoil the rest of my meal. I was impressed how quickly my pho came out! I asked for more hoisin sauce and they gave me a bottle instead of just a little bit on a tiny dish. I like to add a lot, so I was very appreciative that they weren't stingy! But the best part for me what how fresh it all tasted. No gamey taste to the chicken, or dirty taste to the vegetables. I feel like it's easy for these things to ruin an otherwise good pho, but these guys got it just right! I didn't even find any chicken bits with cartilage or chewy pieces. It was a serious win all around! The portions were big enough that I was fill and still had some to take home. I enjoyed this meal so much that I finished the rest by the time I got home! My first dinner here was delicious. The space is very comfortable and pleasing, and the service is friendly and on point. Some of the food is presented slightly different here than how I'm accustomed in many other Vietnamese restaurants. But that's really just different, not wrong or bad. The cocktail list is somewhat limited to gin, vodka, and rum drinks, but they are reasonably prices at roughly $9. There are quite a few beer and wine options too. The summer rolls were very fresh and quite large. The sauce that came with them has a lot of ground peanut on top; you might want to stir it around a bit to blend the flavors more before dipping or pouring. I ordered pho ga, which is simply called "chicken noodle soup" here, with your choice of traditional or rice vermicelli noodles. It was fine, not too salty, though the broth could have been a little more intense. Evidently if only one person at a table orders pho, you get one small ramekin with sriracha on one side, and plum sauce on the other. At tables where 2 or more orders of pho were placed, you get full bottles. It was then that I discovered we didn't have chopsticks at the table. I guess you have to ask the staff for them, as they have them in one of their apron pockets. The bun was the most eyebrow-raising item. The beef was fantastic. But instead of being served in a bowl with the beef on top of the rice, it was on a plate, with everything separate, again without chopsticks. I can assure you, it doesn't affect the taste in any way at all... nor did it affect my opinion of the place, or whether or not I'd return (which if it isn't obvious is a definite "YES!" read more
