We got takeout beef pho on this cold spring evening. The broth is very rich and flavorful here. I love the accompaniments like Thai basil, bean sprouts and cilantro. The beef could be more plentiful. I am a huge fan of soup in general, and I pass here alllll the time. I decided to swing in today and get some take out. They had a super easy order system and it was ready in under 10 minutes. I ordered the Pho Soup, with double rich beef broth, and the Pho Yum beef combination. It wasn't cheap at $18, but it came with so much and so much flavor. The broth was packaged separately from the add ins, so I just heated that up right before I plated everything. There was so much meat, noodles, veggies. On the side was also a bag of bean sprouts, jalapeño and Thai basil. It also came with lime, hoisin and sriracha. I added a lot more lime and sriracha from my home too. I love that you can make it your own, and I like adding more and more sriracha while I eat. I will defintely get this again! It even came with a cute disposable soup spoon. We were so exited to found an "authentic" Pho house and I can not start to describe how disappointed this place was, it felt impersonal from the minute you walk in the owner does not what hospitality means but the star of the palm menu "pho" was served like warm for $11 noddles and broth add protein it's $3-$8 more and it was undertone and nothing expected for that cuisine, we order a Bha mi sandwich beef the bread was not what makes that particular sandwich a delicacy but something you can eat at Panera, we ask to have an extra bowl and the owner/ server was rude about it and demand .50 cents for it, drinks are the same over price and made with cheap materials all served in to go containers and cups. If I want it fast food I could have just choose one of The fast food chains around it is a shame That the owner thinks her food justifies her rudeness and unclean establishment. Don't waste your money I'm sure that is other Pho houses better than this one where soup it's served almost cold!!!! So disappointed!. I can not say nothing good about the ambience cause it's none, loud echoey and not very clean I did not enjoyed anything about Pho not so Yum. Maybe a better name would be "No Yum"? I have never been to a Pho restaurant where everything was nickel and dining. You get the broth for $6. Meat is extra. Bean sprouts extra. Onions $0.50. And at the end the noodles were still stiff. The sauces were terrible. Service was ok. Ambiance was ok -- there was nobody on the restaurant. (Which in retrospect is understandable). Atrociously priced pho I have had anywhere in the country! Visiting the area, we wanted a bowl of comforting soup for the evening. We were the only ones on a Friday evening at the restaurant. We ordered bowls of pho with summer rolls. Each item is an add-on over a base. I got steak, tendon, tripe , brocolli and peas - for $3 for broccoli - there were 3 small bite sized pieces , for $2 for snow peas - there were 5 pods. Everything is priced by item including hoisin and sriracha sauce! On average it costed us $25 for a bowl of soup. The problem - hardly any meat in the bowls. Worst rolls ever. The place is utilitarian, not very clean with paper tissue on the floor, would never go again. The waitress was present but made no attempt to help as we ordered from the electronic menu. read more

The ambiance 3 stars was very basic and in a small strip mall as was the service 3 stars as you were expected to order on an iPad and everything was extra $$$$ ok so far now about the food 2 stars. The broths were fatty with a couple of odd not so good flavors, served in a paper bowl with a thin plastic soup spoon, the snow peas were completely raw in the soup and believe it or not didn't have the stems taken off and the meat was very minuscule (cheap) and the tofu was definitely not fresh, the crispy fried rolls were oily and somewhat off-tasting, sorry I almost forgot the beansprouts were old brownish sour and rotten ends to them I had to pick a few for my soup and leave the rest. They should be crispy and white with no aging on the ends., the lime wedge was not a wedge but a tiny cube and even this was not vibrant. The overall price was way too expensive for a 2 stars experience...... 2 stars in my opinion is a D- on the border of F for fail. I urge you NOT to patronize this business, as I did last evening. I have nicknamed it 'Ho Hum: in dubious honor of their mediocre food. I was looking forward to it, as this was to be not only my first Pho in the Capital District, my guest is from Ho Chi Minh city. It was her recommendation. But she had not been there for a year, preferring her own cooking, or a better Vietnamese restaurant downtown. The portion of the Pho is shockingly miniscule. And it is served in stiff PAPER bowls! Talk about an immediate blow to the appetite. Nothing like a small, plastic soup spoon to fight with too. And I swear they ordered the small size on purpose to make you THINK you are getting a lot of soup. Take it from me, spoiled by a vast number of excellent authentic Vietnamese food in Orlando, FL (thanks to a church there sponsoring a large number of evacuees right after the fall of Saigon. The plate of lime-basil-bean sprouts was pathetic! Should have asked for a magnifying glass. At "Little Saigon" on Route 50 in Orlando, you are served a veritable mountain of these extras. And speaking of which, Two orders of Pho were listed as costing $22. Yet, with only one appetizer of 4 Shrimp Spring Rolls, the bill was $41! Worse yet, they DEMAND that you PAY when you ORDER! I have NEVER had to do at a sit-down restaurant in my entire life. So I am guessing that adding 'your choice of protein" with a smile adds $$$$ without being informed of this fact. Non communicated up charges is high on my list of pet peeves. The atmosphere had all the charm of a tiny town's Greyhound bus terminal. This place is a joke! I had a superb meal the previous night at the nearby Delmonico's for a total of $18 that was HUGE in size and SUPERB in taste. I feel as though I was robbed. First time in Albany, was looking for some good pho in the area. My fault for not reading reviews first. But let me tell you, this place doesn't deserved the YUM, lol. They make you pay to get what is suppose to come with the pho. What a joke!.So if I chose nothing, then I'm getting some broth and only noodles. Me and my wife laughed a bit but went ahead and added some "protein" and it came to 33 per bowl(the most expensive pho I've eaten). Pho Yum is one of my favorite places to eat in Albany! Their bubble tea is always the perfect pick me up and their pho is the best way to cure any ailment. Highly recommend for lunch takeout but their restaurant is also great to eat in as well. I can't rave enough about this place!! Would give six star if I could! read more

So we were really disappointed with our takeout. I say this, despite one kid loving her banh mi. Perhaps it's because of having traveled, but I am not a fan of ciabatta instead of the crispy pillowy French rolls. I was also underwhelmed by the sad cucumber slice - I mean it's cucumber season right now. Thankfully we got take out so I went outside, picked a cucumber and added some. I also added some cilantro to the sparse showing. Thankfully I had ordered extra pickled carrots and cukes. I like that all the sauces came on the side as we had requested... and they were generous with sauces. They would be better served to be more generous with the veggies too. We also go the rice plate with tofu, snow peas and broccoli. Five snow peas, three small pieces of broccoli, and three small slices of tofu on some rice - it was also underwhelming for the price point. I have liked the fresh spring rolls here in the past. I ordered the pork rolls which were very good. My significant other ordered the soup with brisket, extra beef broth and extra noodles. He said he only got three small pieces of meat. The soup was 8.00 and all the add ons were 1.50. It was pretty expensive. Loved the bubble tea!! Go get one and experience this place! Lots of unique sandwiches and salads and get a bubble tea! 9/15/2018 Step away from the ho-hum. My meal at Pho Yum was such a refreshing change. The dishes there include a lot of fresh vegetables, herbs and light, tangy sauces. I love Vietnamese food and Pho Yum was every bit as good as I hoped it would be. We showed up for a late lunch at 2pm on a Saturday. It was still very busy, but the food came out quickly. I had chicken vermicelli or "Bun", which is much more than it sounds. With Vietnamese food, so much goes into the presentation. The vermicelli rice noodles, grilled chicken, salad and chopped peanuts were piled high on top of a tangy sauce, which I think is called Nuoc Cham. It's made of lime juice, sugar, water and fish sauce. Make sure to mix it all up from the bottom. My husband had the shredded pork vermicelli and we shared an order of shredded pork summer rolls. My husband, who usually eats much more than I do, was too full to finish his meal, but I cleaned my plate. He said that he would have preferred it if his summer roll--which is wrapped in rice paper-- wasn't made of cold ingredients. In other words, he wanted a fried spring roll. There's only one fried roll offered at Pho Yum and it's on the specials menu. I think it's called Nem rán or Nem nuong. Fried Vietnamese-style spring rolls are what my relatives serve in their homes and there's nothing better. I enjoyed my Amber Bubble Tea, too. We stayed until I finished all it, right down to the last black tapioca bubble at the bottom of my glass. It was beverage and dessert all rolled into one. The prices are reasonable. The shared appetizer, two vermicelli bowls, bubble tea and one seltzer came out to $34. The decor is clean, bright and attractive. The walls are decorated with large abstract images of Vietnamese women toiling in the fields as well as fishing. Our friendly waitress had her hands full. She was the lone server, but she did everything just right. She returned a couple of times to make sure that we had everything that we needed to enjoy our meal. The pho is heavenly. Broth soothes the soul, noodles are always perfect, veggies tender with a little bite, meats are always fresh. Everything about the bowl of pho is perfect. The owner is there everyday making sure all the dishes go out perfectly, is so sweet and caring. Inside is relaxing, tables are nicely spaced out. A small place right off the highway, perfect for picking up takeout for our trip farther north. I liked that everything is so customizable, and really enjoyed the tofu/broccoli/snow pea add-on. We ordered pork spring rolls, beef summer rolls, chicken and meatball pho for the kids (no scallion/onion/cilantro) and vermicelli w/grilled pork, shrimp, beef and veggies. They give you nice big cups of nuac mam sauce, but I didn't realize and ordered extra. Next time would add noodles for the pho, as there was only a small portion. We enjoyed everything, tasty and fresh ingredients. My only complaint was they don't have any salads on the menu. Their sauce would go great with a shredded cabbage or green papaya salad. It should've been a warning sign when I came by this place on a Saturday night and there was no one. ... OK, it wasn't that bad. I prefer the ambiance here over Vans. Their prices are also pretty cheap, so that's another plus. In terms of the food, their pho was, not amazing but, decent. They had more authenticity and variety in terms of meat choices for their pho than Vans. I'll give them that. My biggest issue was that their bun vermicelli was NOT vermicelli. They were thick, almost spaghetti like. The cucumbers were not shredded but finger thick. I wouldn't mind in any other dish, but the thicker ingredients made it hard to absorb flavor for this one... The sauce was not put on the side or tossed, but instead pooled on the bottom of the bowl. On the plus side, I got my "vermicelli" topped with grilled pork and it was marinated and grilled well. Just placed an order here and it was everything. I got the usual suspects because sometimes you gotta go with what you know. The Bahn Mi Sandwich was so flavorful. The Brisket Pho was simply outstanding. The way they package everything for you was perfect with all the fixings to take the meal to the next level. I had to pick up myself to ensure it's safety back home lol. I pretty much inhaled it all so all that's left is the aftermath. I will be a regular here for sure. This is like having Vietnam right in your own backyard. I'm truly grateful as it would be a long flight to get there.
