a bowl of soup with a spoon in it

I ordered dinner to go, chicken green curry and beef pineapple curry, worth $13 and $14. I came home to feed a family of 5. The freaking food they gave are few pieces of meat in a quart container like a soup but I didn't order soup!!!! The beef is hard very cheap quality of beef that I end up throwing it in the garbage because you can't chew it! I called them and complain about it, the lady said " I don't know how many pieces of beef or chicken there is" and she just said sorry in a very rude manner that they can't do anything about it! This restaurant is crooked charged you for the meal but it's all misrepresentation of the food! I am Asian and I can cook curry foods so I know how it looks like! Rating one star here doesn't even deserving! They shouldn't be permitted to run a business not giving the quality food they should be serving! They are just ripped off!

There are so many Thai restaurants in the greater capital region, it's fun to shop around and compare styles, execution and heat level. Last night I was very pleasantly surprised by the offerings at Chontong. The fresh roll was enormous, herbaceous, and full of harmonious textures. You can get yours with shrimp or tofu, and hold the egg if that's your jam. The fried spring rolls were also delicious. Both my dining buddy and I are picky in our own ways, but the staff were eager and able to please. I got a spicy eggplant stir fry with loads of delicious veggies in a soy based sauce with fresh chilis, on account of their chili paste containing seafood. The dish was not too oily, which is hard to pull off with eggplant, but was lacking in heat. If you like your Thai on the spicier side, make sure you tell them. My companion special ordered ground chicken in her stir fry dish, which she very much enjoyed. Also of note: they have pho! We saw multiple gigantic steaming bowls coming out of the kitchen! Maybe next time. In all, I have to deduct a star for the lack of a liquor license. They also won't let you BYOB. Hopefully they'll get on that soon!

I had never had Thai food until I walked in here the other night. I was pleasantly surprised that I loved the food!! This restaurant is in a nice location right off of Delaware Ave in a little strip mall and it has a great atmosphere. We walked in an hour before closing which we didn't realize but the woman that greeted us was wonderful. She took great care of us and was patient with us as it was my first time eating Thai and my cousin had some allergy concerns. We ordered veggie spring rolls, pineapple fried rice w/ chicken, drunken noodles, Thai iced coffee, and ice cream! Everything was fantastic and I couldn't stop eating despite being so full. The portions are huge and I've eaten it for leftovers a couple times now. I will be back here and I can't wait to try more!!

We came here tonight expecting to eat at the restaurant formerly occupying this space, which we'd never been to, but instead learned that it just recently closed. (Sorry folks... Delmar Thai Sushi Restaurant is among the departed.) According to our waitress, Chontong opened on October 6, and although it is a Thai restaurant like it's predecessor, the two restaurants are unrelated and Chontong does not offer sushi. Their grand opening special takes 10% off all orders until Jan 6, 2016. Good to know. The husband and I had skipped lunch, so we went all out with two appetizers, entrees, and dessert. We opted for some of our favorite Thai dishes for the sake of comparison, and were not disappointed. The chicken satay (pic) and Thai egg roll (pic) appetizers were both very good, and were portioned right for appetizers (meaning: small). My pineapple curry chicken (pic) was the perfect level of spice for my liking (mediumish). The flavor was great, and the dish included a good portion of meat. The husband's pineapple fried rice w. beef (pic) was also very good and not too oily like some places serve it. The mango sticky rice (pic) was tasty as well, but I've had better. Service was very friendly and attentive without being pushy or overbearing. Business on Saturday night was steady but not too busy, which is generally my preference. No wait, no overcrowded dining room, and no shouting at your dinner companions. (It was busier than my dining room pictures would lead you to believe - I was deliberate in taking shots between table seatings.) They seem to do a fair amount of takeout business, and there was no evidence of their delivery service (such as staff cutting through the dining room carrying bags of food), so they must do that out the back door. All in all, this isn't the very best Thai food I've had in the cap region, but it was certainly respectable, and I think we'll come back to try some other items on the menu.

Got G03 pad see mao and thought it was amazing. I like spicy food and I think this dish had the perfect amount of spice. Yes this place is a little bit on the pricey side but they give you a big portion as well. I also love the service and the atmosphere. Clean and spacious.

Delicious as always. Fast and friendly. "Hot and spicy" dish selected could have been spicier, but very good anyways.

This is like elevated modern Thai in a chic environment. The aesthetic inside is the perfect vibe, I love the dark greens and florals. The lighting was perfect for photos too, so instagram-able. The bar was gorgeous and so were the drinks, and they were incredible too. I ordered the lychee martini but subbed the vodka for gin. I am not a sweet drink girlie but I love a lychee martini, and this was the best I ever had. I also ordered the Oliang Martini which was just like an espresso martini but a little more bold, delicious. The coconut mojito was also gorgeous and my sister ordered two. Great spot for cocktails. We wanted to try so many things, and we did, with plenty of left overs. I had never really been to a Thai restaurant but I knew enough to know I wanted to try Tom Kha. I love soup of all kinds and this was no exception, I worry I will crave this all the time. The creamy, savory and slightly sour taste was addicting. For other apps we tried the golden dumplings which were perfectly moist and flavorful inside, with the crispy wonton crust you love. We also tried the shrimp donuts, these were good but a little on the spongy side, so the texture wasn't really my thing. We also ordered the chive cakes, which were like cube shaped scallion pancakes. I honestly was full at this point, but everything was so delicious and I love left overs. For entrees, I had to order the pad Thai because I never had it. I got it with beef and it was such a delicious dish. The noodles were the perfect texture and it was flavor packed. We ordered mild in all dishes, and they still had a kick, which I loved. We also had crab fried rice, perfectly fluffy and light. Crispy duck curry, insane dish that I would love to order at a future visit, and the pad see u noodles. I honestly have nothing bad to say. This is a new hot spot. Vibe is immaculate. Cocktails are noteworthy. The food matches the experience. Price is on par with similar caliber restaurants locally, I wouldn't consider it a cheap night out. Come here to splurge a little on a great experience.

Check! We ordered mild for the more spice resistant of the two of us (with sides of chili paste and powder for yours truly). Flavors were spot on-served piping hot (temperature) in very generous portions. Drunken noodle? Check! These rice noodles are not as broad as some other local Thai places but again-a very large portion with a perfect balance of savory, salty and sweet (also ordered mild for this first visit). Absolutely delicious....oh how I love the gumminess of a good rice noodle. The summer rolls were also great. We tried them with crab instead of our usual choice of shrimp (avocado was also an option). They're served with a peanut sprinkled hoisin sauce and a second peanut sauce. Again-nice sized portion with super fresh ingredients. Almost forgot-we did try a salmon avocado roll to sample the sushi-it was also great. But we wanted to focus on the Thai options. Not pictured but tasted (bc I dove in and scarfed without pausing for photos!): -Larb salmon: I've only had chicken and vegetarian versions of Larb (sometimes spelled Lahb); the salmon (raw) was one of the best things I've tried in a while. The red onions, scallions, rice powder, vinegar, chilies and fish sauce make this the ultimate umami experience that I can't wait to have again. -mango sticky rice: perfection. Ripe mango cut into cubes with sticky, sweet (and slightly crunchy) rice drenched in coconut milk sauce. I'm drooling as I write this. In case you don't now, the original version of this family owned and run restaurant had a terrible explosion/fire and underwent renovations last year. They took over the space next door and expanded the dining room area. It's light, bright and welcoming. Service was awesome-friendly and super fast. The menu is also extensive. I was initially overwhelmed by the choices so we stuck to the basics. Can't wait to go back and try more!
