    Massaman Curry Dinner
    Nette B.

Very cute restaurant in front and inside. They have about 6 to 8 tables. Variety food in the menu. Tried their Massaman chicken curry and i love the creaminess of the sauce. The sweetness and creaminess is balanced. Perfect for the side of rice. I will est this again. The Pad thai is good too but too sweet for me. The appetizer we ordered are the fresh rolls. Too bland for me and The dip is not that good. Maybe I am more familiar with the peanut sauce of Vietnamese. The service is good and the server is nice. Street parking but we havent had a hard time looking for one.

cute place, it's attached to a house. Service was okay, just one lady serving and running the front end. So it took her time to serve and give the check. Another customer came and they waited about 5 minutes before they got greeted or given water. All the dishes were sweet! Lives up to its' name. Not a fan of sweet Thai food! Panang curry and red curry both tasted the same. When you order a vegetarian dish you have the option of adding veggies or tofu- you don't get both. Will charge extra for the tofu for the veg dish. Both the curries also had potatoe in it. The curries were really creamy, as you can see dish was not enough of the curry. Lacked flavor! Just really sweet despite ordering spicy. The pad Thai was also sweet. The Thai iced tea was overly sweet compared to the norm. Wouldn't go back.

Came here for lunch the other day and absolutely loved it! Authentic Thai food and flavors, not too spicy, but you can ask to make it spicier. The service was fast and the ambiance is cute. It's like a small cozy dining area inside of a house, no like literally-this place is inside of a house turned restaurant. Super inviting and there is even a ramp which makes it completely accessible! Love it and the prices are reasonable as well for these days.

This is one of the best Thai food I've had. I'm not from Albany, and it's so hard to find good, authentic food here. Sweet Basil is definitely good and authentic. The restaurant is tiny, but welcoming. I ordered the soup and it was sour and spicy, but tasteful. The Penang curry was soooo good. Be careful of the hidden chilis; they'll bite you if you're not careful, setting your mouth on fire. The noodles in the pad Thai were perfectly cooked, not too hard. It was sweet and had lots of flavor. So pay a visit to Sweet Basil and if you want some really good Thai food.

I'm giving a 5 star review based off only 2 dishes, but both were amazing. Nothing could have been more satisfying on a rainy/cold day than the Tom Yum soup with tofu. We ordered the lunch size, but I probably could have eaten a whole gallon. I also reco, mend the Drunken Noodles with duck. The duck itself was cooked perfectly and really juicy and tender. Sometimes the sauce of the noodles can be too sweet, but this was balanced well with the veggies.

My first time at this amazing Thai restaurant, and definitely won't be the last. Service was swift, food was incredible, and overall a cute cozy spot. Definitely would recommend trying this out!!

Sweet Basil came up a few times in conversations with Albany locals, so I was excited to see what the hype was about! From the outside, it's rather unassuming. On the inside, it's small but tables are full, so you know the food must be special! My dining partner and I started with the Sweet Basil fresh roll which is simply rice noodles, carrots, basil and cucumber wrapped in rice paper. The sweet tamarind sauce on the side really kicks it up a notch and was rather addicting. This was a great, light option to begin with. From there, I ordered the mango chicken curry: red curry mixed with coconut milk and prepared with mango, pineapple, green peas, basil, and red pepper. This was definitely some of the best curry I've had! It was the perfect consistency which means a lot thicker than Thai curries I've grown accustomed to. There was plenty of chicken (you can get tofu, pork, beef, shrimp or scallops, as well), so I walked away with leftovers. It wasn't very spicy, so I'd maybe ask for that to be amped up next time. Even though it was a Sunday evening, it was hopping, so I would recommend getting a reservation to be safe. Service was friendly enough and the food came out pretty fast. All in all, I can see why this is a neighborhood staple. I wouldn't hesitate to come back for dinner or get takeout if I was nearby!

Decided to give a try. The place is a total vibe, dont let the outside and area fool you! It had been a long day by the time we got here, did the outlets all day long and I was coming down with a cold. Ordered a ton of apps, Crab rangoon dip is GOOOOOODDDD!!!!... Ordered Calamari that apparently I didnt get a pic of, but It was good also. I think we got wings, but I truly cant remember. I got the risotto, I didnt love it but the Shrimp were delish, it had a super strong after taste flavor that I didnt love but couldnt truly put my finger on, Hubby said his pasta was good, but just needed "something". Would def go back just not sure how often we'd be in the area. Drink menu was super extensive and they were great as well. Started to feel not well and literally had to take our food to go, the waitress was soo concerned and caring, it was great, and it was no fault of the food or theirs, I think it was just whatever cold I was coming down with that kicked my ass and I felt like I was going to pass out, sorry TMI... But the response was so nice and accommodating from the staff. Def worth a try, just be patient with parking, it was slightly chaotic, or that night we just happened to encounter all the people in the are who couldnt drive in tight spaces, LOL!

Pulling up, I'll admit--I was a bit confused. From the outside, it looked more like an old-school diner than a ramen spot. But at that point, we were committed (and not about to turn back toward NYC), so we decided to give it a shot. I'm really glad we did. The interior is no-frills and a bit tight for a family of five, but the staff made it work and got us settled comfortably. We started with edamame, which was perfectly seasoned, and shrimp and vegetable gyoza that the kids absolutely devoured. I also grabbed a Sapporo to wash it all down--solid start. Then came the main event. We ordered a mix: chicken ramen, beef stew ramen, two tonkotsu with double chashu, and a red curry ramen. The only dish that didn't quite stand out was the chicken ramen--it wasn't bad, just not as flavorful as the others. The tonkotsu ramen? Total hit. Both of my kids demolished their bowls--nothing left behind. My wife went all in on the beef stew ramen and loved it so much it sparked a debate at the table about how it stacks up against some Manhattan spots. And then there was my dish--the red curry ramen. Shoutout to our waitress for the recommendation. It had the perfect balance of salt, savory depth, and heat. The broth was this vibrant, bright red that just looked incredible--and tasted even better. Easily one of the top three ramen bowls I've ever had. I had my doubts walking in, but don't make that mistake. This place is a hidden gem. My only knock on the place is the table size for a family of five. Service was great. Everything was flavorful and there were plenty of noodles, but I have to subtract a star for the fact that my ramen had only two slices of Cha-siu pork, whereas my friend who ordered the chicken curry ramen had his bowl overflowing with pulled chicken. Also have to take one star away for the uncomfortable booth - straight back wood and too close to the table, felt as if I was hunched over my bowl the entire time. I will say though, that there is a long two-sided counter option for sit-in dining and that seems like the right place to sit so next time I will definitely sit there and try one of their teppanyaki dishes. One star gets tacked back on for the friendly and sweet server with blonde hair - I did not catch her name, but she was quick, knowledgeable, personable, and with just the right amount of interaction to make you feel like you're the most important guest in the room, so kudos to her for working hard and working fast.
