Lunch with my grandchild who visited Bangkok last year on an educational trip for high school students. It was a great cultural learning experience. Therefore, Thai food is our first choice when we have an opportunity to try a new restaurant in the area. It was a very good experience in terms of food, service, and setting. Located at the end of a small strip of businesses, the restaurant is bathed in natural light during the day from front and side windows. The restaurant is spacious with many tables to accommodate diners. You can see into the kitchen. Everything radiated CLEAN. We got there at 11am at opening on a Tuesday and were out in 45 minutes. The menu is clearly presented and many lunch specials were offered. We ordered from regular dishes. I ordered Ginger Stir Fry -- vegetables with chicken. Extra ginger. $16.95 The broth was tasty with a vibrant ginger flavor. The serving was generous so I took some home. Ash ordered Lahd Nah with tofu. $16.95 It is a Thai mixture of sauces, egg, served over wide rice noodles with fresh greens and choice of meat or tofu. It was our first time into Celadon so my family and I tried a variety of menu items. Everything was delicious! The soup and chicken satay are not pictured but both were amazing. The service was great. Our server was kind, patient, and fun. The food also came out pretty quickly and we enjoyed the overall vibes of the place. Food wise, I wasn't impressed. I had a few friends mention Celadon as a good Thai place nearby so my friend and I decided to check it out. I ordered the Crying Tiger, which is a steak dish, and he got some sort of chicken noodle dish. My steak was very dry and flavorless. I ended up not finishing it. His meal was a lot more flavorful and tastier than mine but still lacked a bit of luster. The thai tea was yummy so that was a win. Still tasty and generous. They use real crab in the spicy crab noodles! I asked for mild and it was completely devoid of spice. I will ask for medium next time but otherwise the crab was sweet and delicious. My friend had her dish hot and it was searingly spicy. I enjoyed the fresh mango with sticky rice for dessert. We have had several wonderful experiences at Celadon Thai restaurant in Latham! The food is authentic and delicious and always plentiful with enough to take home and have for a second meal. I love the Masaman curry with vegetables and the vegetable spring rolls. My niece raves about the Thai fried rice! And my husband loves the chicken Pad Thai. The restaurant has a wonderful, comfortable vibe, and the gentleman who waits on us is always welcoming and attentive and friendly and answers all our questions! We had an excellent meal. It was fresh and the sauces were delicious. I'm not a huge fan of spice so I ordered mild and it was perfect. My daughter loves spice so she order her Mango Curry medium and she had beads of sweat, she loved it. We also had chicken sitar for an appetizer and they were juicy and tender. They were served with a peanut sauce and a pickled cucumber relish. The servers were very attentive and helpful with the menu. My 4 star rating is because the place is extremely noisy. So far I've had their pad see ew, Tom kha chicken soup and their beef pho. Pad see ew I'll give 4 stars. I'm used to the Laos style. Their Tom kha soup is def. 5 stars. And their beef pho, I was expecting more herbs and I didn't get any mint leaves, basil nor lime. Maybe they don't offer that with their pho, but I assumed that was universal regardless of where you order pho from. Overall, my family and I still enjoyed their food. Will order again! First off, excellent for food allergies or sensitivities! We ordered for a large group, half vegan plant-based and half not. The server was very attentive and paid great attention to detail with our order. With a knowledge of the menu and the ingredients in the recipes he was able to point us in the right direction to get us the meals exactly the way we wanted them. We have eaten at the restaurant numerous times before but this was a tale out order. The seated us at the bar and gave us glasses of water as we reviewed the menu, ordered, and were waiting on out dishes to be ready. As we got into the car the server came outside to the parking lot to find us. He wanted to give us an extra sauce for one of our appetizers as a replacement for the normal non-vegan sauces that came with it. To me that is above and beyond. The food was great, everyone enjoyed their meal and we had plenty of leftovers to make a second meal of everything. When we returned from our trip to Thailand we never thought we would find those same fresh and authentic flavors in Albany. But then we went to Celadon Thai in Latham. The restaurant is located in a strip mall near the Latham Circle and is very simple and welcoming in decor. A film of Thai food prep is played throughout the meal and western pop music is played in the background in a very subtle backdrop. There are many dishes to choose from and you identify a level of spiciness according to a numbered system...we found that number 1 was best for us. The beauty of it is that you can order it 0 or 1 (mild) in spiciness and the servers will bring you a caddy of hot sauces you can add to make the dish as hot as you wish. There is an array of Thai, imported and domestic beer and Jasmine or Green tea (among other things). I usually get the eggplant lovers stir fry with brown rice (I love the Thai basil) or the fish special, which is served with a choice of sauces, but I've been there with people who have chosen other dishes like the curries, and everyone has always been pleased. Celadon (which is a shade of green) has great take-out as well. We've celebrated a few birthdays at Celadon Thai and they bring a Thai fried doughnut dessert to share with the table. The servers are very pleasant and helpful. Our favorite server is Nick. Brem is the chef/owner and sometimes his son and daughter help serve the birthday dessert as a special treat. Everything was amazing. The service was incredible. The waiter pulled out my chair for me and was so attentive! We got the dumplings, fried calamari, shrimp hot pot and king noodles (which I can't find anywhere else in this area and is by far my favorite menu item). The food was delicious and came out so quickly, steaming hot. Our other server even boxed our food for us and then bagged it and tied it in a cute little bow! Just felt very well taken care of. I love Thai Vegetarian food and have cooked it myself and ordered it in many restaurants around the world. This Thai food reeks of fresh vegetables prepared and cooked with care. There is an energy in the Celadon Thai dishes that indicates freshness and love of cooking. The medium spicy dish was just right with indeed a little bite. The calamari and spring rolls were lightly fried and with very little salt. Great flavor with the sauces that were supplied with the dish. I will be back many times. read more

Yelp lists many well rated Thai restaurants in the Capital District, and Celadon was a very enjoyable one at which to start my journey through many of them (hopefully). It's very low-key but comfortable inside, with great service and delicious food, and everything comes out quickly. We ordered steamed chicken and cabbage dumplings as an appetizer. These were well prepared, but we only got about one-third of a ramekin of the dumpling sauce, which was difficult to share among 3 people, and equally difficult to spoon out (challenging because we were all fighting for it, it was so good). Their Thai iced tea is very sweet, a bit sweeter than most other places I have ordered it. Our dinners were a teriyaki salmon and two different curries. The spiciness of the curries (and probably other dishes) seems to be regulated by the amount of fresh slices of jalapeno peppers in them. Our sticky rice came individually, in plastic bags snugly placed in decorative bamboo holders. We dutifully requested chopsticks, but I found I could not easily use mine - they were the smallest/shortest pair of chopsticks I have ever tried to use. But honestly, I preferred to use my fork, because I wanted to get every kernel of rice in that mango curry. We passed on dessert because we were full, but I definitely see orders of fried ice cream coming my way in the future. One thing I don't believe you can get here is alcoholic beverages in fancy glasses with equivalently fancy umbrellas, but I certainly didn't miss them here, I was enjoying my experience so much. read more

I have to say I love this place at the Latham location on Rt 9. I go to the Rt 9 location whenever I can. I live up around exit 12 of the Northway so when I heard they were opening in Clifton Park, I was happy. The Clifton Park location is not nearly as good or as organized. I was so so disappointed. I put an order in for takeout as I had company visiting and everyone wanted to stay home. We grabbed the menu for CP and started an order. They didn't have the clear vegetable soup with chicken on the menu they have at Rt 9, so already the menu is different. The prices are also different. Higher. I chose a different soup with chicken and when I got home, and opened the order it was completely missing the chicken for my noodle soup. Then I only got 3 in the container of crab rangoon and only 4 gyaza dumplings. This is not right. I didn't call to tell them bc I wasn't driving each way15-20 minutes to pick anything up and so what are they gonna say? Sorry? Too late. It was expensive too. Everyone at home was hungry and I was annoyed. I'm not going back. I highly recommend the Rt9 location, but I have only eaten there inside, not take out. read more

Absolutely the best Thai food we've had in a long time. We started with delicious fried Gyoza (dumplings) and edamame. I wanted an entree with chicken and veggies and ordered the Budda Feast which had fresh broccoli, Bok-choy, carrots, green beans and other seasonal veggies along with tender pieces of chicken, YUM! I ate every bit it was so delicious . Hubby had Thai Fried Rice with Chicken, pork and shrimp. He loved his too! He ordered it spicey! We tried the Crab Rangoon, Sweet and Sour Chicken, the Mango Curry with Chicken, and Green Tea Fried Ice Cream. Neither of us have really tried much Thai Food and we happened to be in the area and said what the heck. We ordered the Sweet and Sour with a mild spice and the curry with a medium spice. Both dishes were delicious and the Crab Rangoons were also good. They served with dishes with white rice. Everything came out very quickly, and was worth the cost. I would definitely go back again. The only critique I had was the coating of the fried ice cream, it wasn't very sweet at all, but the ice cream itself was good. read more
