Great lunch today with my daughter. Food (lunch specials) was five stars plus. Service was five stars. Always searching for good Thai food, and this small restaurant did not disappoint. Not only does it have excellent Thai food, it also has one page of their menu offering Korean choices. There are separate lunch and dinner menus. Both menus are easy to navigate and clearly written. Their menus state designated spicy dishes can be modified on a scale of 1 to 5. There are numerous lunch specials offered. They come with miso soup or green salad. The waitress (owner?) was friendly, helpful, and attentive. We started with Spring Rolls and tea. Tea bags were placed in large mugs. I would have preferred a pot of brewed tea and small handleless cups offered at a few other places. We ordered lunch specials: Drunken Noodles with Tofu and Pang Kamee with Chicken. The soup broth was flavorful but could have had more tofu pieces. The Spring Rolls were average. My Pang Kamee was seasoned perfectly. Very tasty, it was seasoned nicely with spices, but not hot. I liked the perfectly cooked wide noodles and thinly sliced carrots. The chicken was moist and tender. The Drunken Noodles was also enjoyed by my daughter. What was exceptional about it was the Tofu! There were large pieces of tofu that were sautéed or grilled slightly. Delicious! Best tofu she has eaten in a long time. Our portions were generous, and both meals were finished because they were tasty. The restaurant has nine uncrowded tables and does a lot of takeout. Located in a small strip mall near Colonie Center, it has a parking lot behind the restaurant. We want to return and try other Thai dishes, and try the Korean food. read more

Pinto Thai Kitchen is a cozy little spot tucked away off Central Ave, with the added bonus of good parking - always a plus! It's an ideal place to swing by for takeout or enjoy a casual meal with one or two friends. From what I ordered, I especially enjoyed the Fresh Roll and the Thai Fried Rice Dinner (Beef) - both flavorful and satisfying. I also tried the Veggie Gyoza, which was tasty, although it's not something I usually order when visiting a Thai restaurant. Still, it was well-prepared. I was in Albany for work, and the Thai place I usually visit was closed. I searched for "pineapple fried rice" near my hotel, and this place had the best reviews. After work, I picked up Pineapple Fried Rice with Beef at spice level 4 (I usually order 5 at home in Wisconsin). The level 4 was perfect--full of flavor without the sweats. The taste was amazing, and there was so much food that I had it for both lunch and dinner the next day. I went back four days later before heading home and ordered the same dish. I had a pleasant conversation with a friendly person at the front desk. The only negative thing I can say is, "Why didn't I find this place sooner?" The prices are good, the portions are generous, the staff is friendly, and the food is AMAZING. I suggest you eat here at least once a week. My friends and I were really hungry and this was the closest restaurant we found around the area which is how we ended up in this restaurant! It looked like a very friendly, small family owned restaurant and you could see them cooking the food from the back. The person who sat us down was amazing and she helped us pick the food! They have many varieties of food and their lunch options are amazing! I ended up trying the fried rice and I'm mad at myself for not finding this place before because this was one of the best fried rice I had. The taste was perfectly on point!! OK, I know I said on my next visit I would consider trying the Spicy Chicken Wings or possibly the Korean Je Yuk Bokkeum, but today on a hot and humid day my mind was taking me to a far away tropical land dreaming of mangoes. With that in mind I ordered the Salmon Mango Curry ($18) to go with my tall, iced Thai tea ($3.50). They not only complement each other in color, they both help to virtually transport me to the tropics. First, I was served a fresh side salad that had really crisp lettuce. And you know what really stood out to me? Not only was the lettuce fresh and crisp, it was in nice bite-sized pieces. None of those big floppy leafs that you have to maneuver into your mouth to avoid getting dressing all over the sides of your face. With nicely chopped celery, julienned carrots and purple cabbage, and a creamy, lightly sweetened dressing, it really got my attention that this was not some throwaway side dish. The kitchen obviously took pride in preparing and serving this normally mundane elsewhere side dish. The Salmon Mango Curry was a really enjoyable blend of flavors and textures. It is also a very colorful dish with its carrots, peas, red and green bell peppers, and large number of sliced mangoes. All of this was on top of a generous, pan-fried portion of salmon that was perfectly cooked. I also chose to have brown rice served on the side so that I could add it to the mango curry to assist in assuring that every drop of that delicious curry made it onto my fork and into my mouth. Service continues to be friendly, swift, and efficient. The cable easy-listening jazz music in the background is unobtrusive, allows for convenient table conversation, and makes for a very relaxing meal. I've been working the past few months to try one of my new favorite dishes, pad see ew, at Thai places across the Capital Region. Pinto Thai came recommended from a friend, so I recently got takeout to check it out. The dish had nicely cooked broad rice noodles with just the right texture (slightly chewy) and a nice wok char. There was a good ratio of meat and veggies and everything was flavorful. The chicken was nice and tender. My only slight critique is that the noodles were a little oversauced which made the dish a bit oily. But the flavors were good, and this is definitely in the top tier of 518 pad see ew dishes. Well I'm not surprised that I didn't love my drunken noodle -it was dry and not enough sauce that's full of spice sweet salt flavor I'm use to. We dont expect much from the Thai food here, just less competition I guess. It wasn't horrible, it was okay. I wouldn't go back for that. The stone pot bimbimbap that my husband got was good, wish there was more bon chon. especially for $15 he def wanted a little bit more. Not a place I would say "ooh let's go I'm craving______". However, service was nice and space looked clean, but I think to really make it here you need to have value and stand out amazing flavors. This was my favorite Thai place under the past owners and I'm heartbroken that it's changed hands and it's no longer even close to that diamond in the rough... The prices are beyond unreasonable for Thai food and and while I'd be willing to pay more for great food, it's just not there. $30 plus for some entrees, $18 for pad Thai, and I know it's not Thai cuisine, but the previous owners had a chicken katsu app that was out of this world!! I always wanted to try this place and finally got a chance to do so lately. It's a very authentic Thai food place, very clean and I love how they have a room divider by the restroom so you don't see it directly. Capital region has varied authentic exotic cuisine restaurants and Pinto is one of them for sure. I love how they would put the peanut crush separately without asking. The service is attentive and it seems like they have more to-go and delivery orders than dine in, which made the entirely dining experience even more wonderful. Ordered takeout from here on a recent trip to the Albany capitol region. We sampled pad Thai, spicy basil fried rice (two of our Thai standards), and Korean bul go gi. The Thai food was bland overall . The spicy basil fried rice was not spicy at all and the pad Thai had many of the essential elements was just ho hum. The Korean dish tasted more like steamed beef than anything else. We placed an order by phone and it was ready in a timely fashion. The person double checked our order and was accurate. We needed a place for a quiet, long lunch with a friend that I rarely have an opportunity to meet, in person. I checked Yelp for a good candidate and found Pinto Thai Kitchen. It was a great find, and the excellent food was, of course a big part. The three of us ordered different dishes and we all were extremely pleased. The fact that we were in disturbed and I rushed was a huge plus. In fairness, if we thought we were potentially delaying anyone else's lunch we would have left. I expect that any time that we can get together again it will be at the Pinto Thai Restaurant. Came here for a month and stayed at an AirBnb, and at the advice of my housemates who own the house, they highly recommended taking the drive from Schenectady to grab some Thai food here. They have a parking lot which is extremely helpful. They also had a separate entrance from the parking lot into the restaurant, which is a nice added touch for convenience sake. I ordered the beef pad see ew, which is my go to order. I asked for a milder kind of spicy, and it was perfect! They gave me a huge order of noodles which took me two days to finish. The flavor felt similar to the restaurants that I've had in NYC. I also tried the pad thai, which tasted average, but I would prefer the pad see ew over this as it felt like the pad see ew noodles retained more of the flavor and spices. I've had a lot of Thai food and this place was excellent and I can not recommend highly enough. I ordered pickup in light of COVID19 and the food was A++. I ordered: C4: Panang Curry which comes with your choice of Tofu, Chicken, Beef, Pork, Shrimp or Fish. I went with the Beef. It's composed of a "curry paste mixed with coconut milk, kaffir lime leaves, bell pepper, and basil". S3: Tom Yum Pla which is a "spicy fish soup with aromatic Thai herbs, mushrooms, tomatoes, basil, scallions, and cilantro." Both dishes exploded with flavor. The broth of the soup was amazing! Sour in the best way with great notes of lemongrass! The curry was perfectly balanced and had so many flavor notes as Thai curry is famous for! Also you can customize spiciness levels from 1 to 5 on all dishes. I'll also note that I called ahead and asked many questions about the makeup of the dishes and for input on what was popular from the hostess.
