I read the Yelp reviews and put Jasmine Thai on my list. Glad I did. The main menu is clearly organized and easy to understand which is always a good thing. There were separate menus for Desserts and for Beverages. We shared the Calamari ($8.) as an appetizer. It was not fried and breaded but served with a mildly spiced sauce with tiny peanut pieces. Excellent! Beautiful presentation! The gracious attentive hostess/server helped me select Jasmine Eggplant with noodles & Chicken. She told me some customers come for that dish. Wow! Pieces of tender savory eggplant and chicken in a richly flavored sauce. Eggplant was the star! I asked for ginger, and I was heard. My grandson had Drunken Noodles with chicken. He liked it, but he liked my dish better. We shared each dish. Yum! I gasped when I got the check. Each lunch was only $10. which is incredible for the quality! Waited 30 minutes after ordering, and the waiter got the wrong protein for my wife's drunken noodles, instead of remaking the dish, they pick the protein out and reused the noodles. Great Food and Service - very authentic! Our hostess was very sweet, kind, and bubbly. The Fried Pot Stickers were yummy. Shrimp Drunken noodles were delicious! Beef Pad See Ew was extremely succulent. Entree portions are generous and leave you feeling full and happy. For those not familiar with Thai cuisine, my advice would be to watch the spice levels - don't be a hero, as a #2 was spicy for me, and I generally tolerate up to the 7th wing on a Hot Wings challenge. What a wonderful place. Jasmine Thai crafts a warm and thoughtful experience with delicious food. The staff is friendly and very polite. The atmosphere is warm, although the restaurant is a bit old. It's very clean and decorated with Thai images and other family memorabilia. If there's one thing that stands out besides the delicious food, it's how calm, cool, and collected the staff always is. They make great recommendations on dishes, spice level, and one waitress will even remember what I ordered two visits before. I've been there when it was insanely busy and the staff never feels stressed. The food always comes out at a reasonable pace, and always with a friendly smile. The mark of a well-oiled machine! Now let's talk food... Everyone I've taken here either loves everything, or at least has a couple favorite dishes. And if you have a vegan in your life, Jasmine  Thai is the perfect place for a date night (especially if they're also gluten free). You no longer have to sweat or secretly roll your eyes whenever they want to go out. Plus, the staff is well-versed in vegan and gluten-free choices, and will happily make alterations for them. That said, for MY appetizers I always go with the Crab Rangoons, Tom Kha Soup, and the Thai Fresh Rolls. The Crab Rangoons sit in a bed of tangy dipping sauce. Perfectly fried, not too-crabby, with the perfect amount of cream cheese flavor. The Tom Kha has that Thai sweet and sour vibe, with a perfect balance of lime, lemongrass, and coconut milk (also available in a noodle soup entree if you ask). Finally are the Thai Fresh Rolls. Often miss-named as the deep fried Thai Spring Rolls (also amazing), the Fresh Roll is a gluten-free vegan wrap, that combines rice noodles, carrots, cucumber, and basil. It sits atop a tangy-sweet dressing that makes my taste buds sing! Plus it's very filling, so you're welcome to share.  As for entrees, I have a few favorites. First is the Tom Kha Noodle Soup. The menu lists the spicier Tom Yum variant, so I asked and they made Kha version that I love so dearly. Next is the Jasmine Pineapple Fried Rice, which I almost always order. It comes with a light yellow curry flavor, with big chunks of pineapple that I like to chop up, egg, veggies, and roasted cashews. Every bite of the yellow curry rice, the juicy pineapple, and the cashew crunch create a symphony of flavor that keeps me coming back for more.  I could comment on other dishes that I enjoy, but I find myself being a creator of habit, usually ordering one of the two entrees I listed above. Don't get me wrong, I'll still eye everyone else's dish, and will try to sneak a taste when they're not looking, but my favorites are those listed in this review. I assume there might be some people who've had a mediocre experience, but I can honestly say its always been fantastic for me. If nothing else, Jasmine Thai is worth checking out to see why the locals all rave about it. read more

The food was amazing! We were served by a charming server in traditional Thai dress, who advised me on the heat level of my dish. I was rated at a disappointing.05 out of 5 which turned out to be appropriate. The servings were big enough for next day meals. Most amusing was the cone of rice that accompanied the entrees. That was enough rice to feed two people by themselves. The restaurant was charming in a low rent kind of way with booths and tables. I enjoyed it tremendously. I had the please of having dinner at Jasmine Thai recently after a long time away from the area. My experience made me reconsider what I thou was a long drive to a great restaurant! The service couldn't have been more kind and personal! A big shout out to Jum, my lovely server! The food was wonderful. It was hot when served, super fresh ingredients and very tasty indeed. The toasted garlic on the steamed dumplings was an extra treat, making that appetizer super yummy! The curry puffs were soft and flaky with a mild curried filling. The shrimp satay were perfectly cooked. The duck salad was outstanding, super flavorful! Both the chicken Pad Thai and the Chicken Pad Poy-Sian were delicious. Honestly, probably one of my favorite places I've ever been. This place is a hidden gem! The food is sooooo good and incredibly affordable. The portion sizes are huge, especially loved the ridiculously ripe mango - a delightful touch! The noodles were perfectly warm, and the serving size was generous enough for a few meals. For an appetizer we tried the crab Rangoon, dumplings and the fried chicken meatballs. We enjoyed them all, the Rangoon was my favorite, the rest of our party thought the meatball were the best. The rest of our meals were very flavorful. We accidentally asked for spice level 2 for the Drunken noodles and that was too much. Also when I saw that my meal had cilantro I was excited but there were only 2 sprigs of cilantro. The Andaman Steamy was packed with flavor but my favorite part was the shaved ginger. Just to paint the picture it was a Saturday after High school graduation and there was a hurried rush to pick a restaurant because we had completely forgotten. So the first three or four places were either closed or full. So we went here just as a shot in the dark. My son who graduated is vegetarian and they had a bunch of options. All kinds of options for everyone really. Beef, pork, seafood, vegetable. I'm going to be honest I had passed this place a ton of times and never gone in. It has a weird look from the front but you can't judge a book by it's cover. Anyway they had room for us and we started with some apps. They were all really good and seemed to be had made. We had crab Rangoon's, vegetable spring rolls, and curry puffs. Entree were great too. I had something mild because I had to work all night but my son had the Thai pad and it was great. Service was good. Bubble teas were good. I had the Thai beer and it was good. I would recommend this place. The food came out together and super hot and fresh. The fifth star would be with a little updating of interior. But the food was great and the two folks who came to the table were friendly and attentive! I have been a customer for years, just ordered my usual of chicken drunken noodles without spice and when I tried it at home, it was very spicy. Upon calling them they insisted that they got the order correct, refused to refund me or even remake the order. I now have no dinner as I cannot eat spicy food with IBS. When YOU as an establishment get an order wrong, the least you can do is remake it for the customer. And a refund is the least they could do, and they weren't even willing to do that. Although I'm not one to fixate on service, I will say that the service here is also very good, which only adds to the quality. I would highly recommend Jasmine Thai and have awarded is five (5) full stars--read on for more details. Three and one half (3.5) stars go to the RICH and SUCCULENT tastes that abound in the food items at Jasmine Thai. I've tried their many curries as well as noodle dishes and some of their SPECIALS. Most recently, I had the green curry noodles. Those were some TANTALIZING NOODS: bathing in a rich, green curry, adorned with morsels of zucchini, peppers, beans and, lest I forget, that sweet, sweet beef. As I was eating at lunch time, the special came with several potstickers--VOLUPTUOUS SACS of shrimpy goodness, doused in a flavorful sauce. One (1) star goes to the excellent prices at Jasmine Thai. If you go at lunchtime, you can get almost anything on the menu (except for the specials) for $10, served with spring rolls or potstickers. With portions that rival those found at dinnertime, this is an excellent deal indeed. Dinner prices are also quite reasonable--many entrees fall in the $13-$17 range. A final half (0.5) star, to top it off, goes to the service at Jasmine Thai--the waitstaff are friendly, attentive, and efficient. An added perk to the other qualities of the restaurant. Will not waste my money here again. I have been a frequent customer since moving into the area a year ago and have never had a problem until today. My friend and I both ordered a spice level 1 (which on the menu says "mouths feels prickly") but this meal was inedible. When we called to ensure the spice level for the order was correct, our order history was looked up and we were questioned about all of our past orders. We have ordered a level 1 before but were accused of saying we've never ordered this when we have, not always under the same name and sometimes in house. On the phone the lady mentioned a spice level 1 is too much for some customers - if that is the case do not reflect your spice levels on the menu as 3+ being when your mouth begins burning. read more

The spicy basil was beyond a salty dinner, the pad Thai was so over cooked it was like rice dough...we told the waitress and they came back saying if there was something wrong tell us instead of eating it. A lot of places use way to much or way to little filling. The most disappointing is when they look like paper footballs and are just crispy nothingness. Well this place makes the round shaped ones and they're never overfilled bags of cream cheese. They're phenomenal. They do come served on a long plate with the sauce on the plate, so ask for it on the side if that's not your thing. It's a very thin layer on the bottom of the plate so it's not to much. They have a spicy chicken dish served in the shell of a pineapple. 100% my favorite dish they make. Spicy and always enough to take home leftovers home. The pineapple really sets it off, and I love pineapple. The decorations may not be the most current style or whatnot but I like it. And it's always very clean. Well... the decor is somewhere between 1970's blech and ... let's say just cheesy. The waiter never told his name, did not speak English too well, and was very brusque with us about everything until he brought the check. The Tofu potstickers (as I recall the name of the apppetizer) was the highlight of our meal and time here. The Pad Thai I ordered was ... average. I have had better at . My wife ordered Drunken Noodle with shrimp, and it had to be one of the worst presentations I have ever seen - the dish looked like borscht, more than anything else - and not well-done borscht, at that. Definitely one of the better Thai restaurants in the Schenectady region. Although the restaurant is not situated in the prettiest neighborhood, the restaurant itself is very clean and well-decorated. The food itself is also very strong and rich in flavor. I honestly lived that the flavor was strong. However, I have heard from others that the flavors may have been too aggressive. I will say I definitely always need some water after a big meal here! Another plus is their portion sizes which are highly generous. I almost always have leftovers from Thai restaurant simply because they give you so much food! Additionally the servers are very courteous and kind. After repeatedly reading nice reviews about Jasmine for over a year, we finally found it conveniently located near where we were when we got hungry. The business (tavern) next door has a sign posted in their window that says they will tow your car if you park in their spaces. We were not about to test their statement and chose the last space adjacent to Jasmine's business. Inside is very attractive and clean. It is well lit and can hold maybe forty to fifty customers. There were a few tables that had not yet been cleared from earlier diners, and there were a series of tables that had been pushed together in the middle of the restaurant to handle a party of about ten. We were pleasantly greeted immediately upon entering and shown to a booth with a setting for four. In addition to offering the standard Thai beer Singha, they also had Chang beer ($4.50/ 10.82 oz. bottle) from Thailand. My wife and I both decided to try it for the first time. The cold frosted glasses that the beer was poured into could easily have held a U.S. pint. So it looked like we had already drank most of our beer before we even started, it was a decent lager. We started by sharing the Curry Puff appetizer ($8) - three small empanada-like dumplings filled with chicken, potato, carrot, raisin, and yellow curry powder. They are served with two different sides of plum sauce. The dumpling dough had a softer and more flexible texture than I had expected considering that it was fried, but it went well with the flavorful filling. My wife ordered the Andaman Curry ($20) and substituted brown rice for the jasmine rice. The dish contained tail-on shrimp, scallop and salmon fillet in a panang curry along with bell pepper, mushroom, peas, squash and basil. It was very tasty, but not spicy at all. It should be noted that nowhere on the menu is there any indication of how spicy any of the dishes are. Neither is there any indication that the customer can request a desired level of spiciness. We didn't ask if we could specify more or less spiciness since we wanted to see what the chef's standard preparation was like on our first visit. My choice was the Green Curry with chicken ($13), also with a side of brown rice. Before I forget, we both thought the brown rice was prepared perfectly and delicious. Green Curry is the standard by which my wife and I compare various Thai restaurants. Green Curry at Jasmine Thai starts with adding coconut, zucchini, green peas, string beans, bell pepper and basil to the curry. My green curry was just a bit more spicy than my wife's panang curry. At first I didn't think it was spicy at all, but it built up a little as I continued to enjoy it. While we both agreed that it was not our favorite green curry that we've ever had, it was still very good and enjoyable. The chicken was not overcooked. If I were to nitpick, I'd like to see the zucchini cut into smaller pieces. While I chose to add chicken to my curry dish, for the same price, I could have chosen pork, beef, tofu, or vegetable. For an additional up-charge you can choose shrimp, scallops, duck, or a seafood combination. There are also lunch size portions of the curry dishes available at a slightly reduced price. Jasmine Thai is worthy of a return visit at some point to try some of the other Thai favorites that we enjoy. Certainly, Pad See Ew and Thai iced tea will be tasted on my next visit. read more
