Very disappointed. I ordered drunken Noodles spice level one and it was very spicy and lots of black chicken. I also ordered beef fried rice and that was spicy and had lots of black pepper also. Fried rice should not be spicy!!! I don't know if I will go back. This place used to be good! read more

I can't say enough how delicious the food at Pinto Thai is! We've eaten there several times already and each time is better than the next. Tonight we took another couple with us so they could try Pinto. They loved it too. We started with an appetizer of the key lime shrimp, edamame, and kimchi. The kimchi is made there and was so good! The key lime shrimp was amazing; tempura shrimp with a light cream key lime sauce...delicious!! They were fried perfectly, crisp and hot. The sauce was yummy, mild lime flavor perfect with the fried shrimp. The edamame was salty and yummy too! I usually order the drunken noodles but tonight tried the garlic and black pepper stir fry with vegetable and shrimp. I loved it and will definitely get it again. There were at least 6 large shrimp! My husband always goes with the spicy basil with chicken because he likes spicy and it never disappoints. Our friends got the spicy basil and the rad nah noodles with beef, and they loved both dishes. If you like Thai food, please try Pinto! For the first time ever I ordered Korean food. I had no experience and went off reviews on where to even begin. I ordered the Bi bim bap and it came with complimentary kim chi. I do not like kim chi but I had a few bites and it was fine, especially if it's a food you enjoy. The bi bim bap comes with an egg on top and honestly I'm not sure why I didnt ask for it without the egg. I like eggs just fine but not for dinner. The food was good and I for sure want to go back for the thai portion. It's a very cute and quiet place inside especially since it's on central avenue. The service was excellent. They were so kind and continued to check on me throughout. The waitress was attentive and I never felt like there was anything I wanted for. I had an excellent lunch here !! It wasn't fast food, but it was delicious !! The papaya salad was fresh and crisp, dumplings seared just right and super flavorful. We split the dolsot bibinbap, it was quite good, there was veg in there you don't often see used, such as the dried lily buds. My husband and I were treated to dinner at Pinto Thai Kitchen. We ordered key lime shrimp and shumai (steamed shrimp and veggie dumplings) for appetizers and they were delicious. For the main course we ordered duck noodle soup and Bi bim bap. They were positively sumptuous. People with us ordered grilled spicy chicken and spring rolls - also excellent. We could taste how fresh all the ingredients were and the waitress even gave us dessert - sweetened rice with fresh mango slices - which was lovely. We'll be back! read more

WOW! Staying with family near by and wanted something a little different tonight. I ordered crispy spring rolls and the pad cashew with chicken and it was wonderful. The rice was remarkable which is rare for ANY takeout I get. They were also lightning fast (10 minutes means 10 minutes!). I will definitely be ordering here during future trips to Albany. Had my first experience at Pinto last night. I've been living here for 2 years and was having trouble finding good authentic Thai dishes. My wait is finally over. I had the papaya salad, chicken wings, Tom yum soup, fried egg rolls, supporting rolls and that was my apps...lol I had to explore. I was not disappointed. So glad I found this wonderful little restaurant tucked away on Central Avenue! For lunch I ordered the Drunken Noodles with Tofu, and got such a large potion that it will be my dinner as well. It was after we left and I was reflecting on our meals that I looked into the roots of Pinto Thai. I learned that one of the owners used to be in charge of the kitchen at Kinnaree in downtown Albany. Ah! that made sense. I recall having an equally bad salmon experience there years ago. I will not be going back for a third. PInto Thai has an unassuming atmosphere that is welcoming enough. The server was sweet if tentative. The menu has a range of Thai dishes with a few Korean as well. Problem is they are not very good. I had the salmon with mango curry. The sauce was tasty, with wedges of soft mango adding an interesting if baby food like texture. There were few vegetables, and even though I had asked for extra peas, there was a paltry amount. They, oddly enough, were hard and chewy. The salmon was a generous portion but overcooked and of an unappetizing gray color--the result of being a cut of fish that needed trimming. The rice was not particularly flavorful. My friend ordered the pad woon sen with shrimp. There were many small shrimp to top the noodles, which she mostly left uneaten, as they too were overcooked and prepared in a greasy soyish sauce. Given the quality of the food, the prices are high. Not worth the money. There are a number of better quality Thai restaurants out there (one or two in Albany, and several in the Latham and Schenectady areas). Worth the drive. read more

Pinto Thai has the best food in Capital Region. My husband and I order from here every other week. We have never been disappointed and we always find new things to try on the menu. The portions are huge, the prices are very reasonable. Their menu has a huge variety, there's something for everyone. Food is really good, the restaurant is cute and clean, staff is friendly, and quick service.

1st visit, liked the dining area, simple bright and clean. We went for Korean, split two appetizers lime shrimp and some shrimp dumplings which were tasty and decently sized. We had Bibimbap for a main course mine cold and hers hot. They were both typically good, but the only complaint was that we would have liked just a little more beef and a little less rice. My wife mentioned it was my birthday and they brought us a free fried ice cream desert which we loved. All in all we really enjoyed our visit and will be going back in the not too distant future. So Happ to see a Thai restaurant on Central Ave! We noticed it as we were driving and decided to stop in and are so glad we did! Ample parking in the back, we had the restaurant to ourselves for a late lunch. We were seated right away and ordered Tom yum soup with shrimp (to share)...and it was delicious. A little small for $6...but it had the right heat and consistently. Thai iced tea was fantastic too (not too sweet). Fried rice and pad Thai were equally tasty, cooked to perfection and steaming hot. Very friendly people and Great food at a reasonable price. I ordered the pad cashew nut with chicken and a Thai iced coffee. Food was great and flavorful but no spicy heat as indicated on the menu. This might be a good thing for you but if you want some heat you might have to remember to tell the server. I've been told that Thai coffee gets it's distinct flavor from roasting the beans with butter and tamarind. It is a bit different. In a good way . It can be easy to pass when finding the place, it's good to know that the rear parking lot is accessible from the side streets both before and after the restaurant and the main entrance is in the back. One of my favorite spots in the Capital Region. The owners are genuinely wonderful people and the food is consistently excellent! Service is always great as well. I have been eating the chef's food for quite a few years now as he worked at different restaurants before opening their own; I have followed him to each one. Drunken noodles (Pad Kee Mao), Pad See Ew, Pineapple Fried Rice, Pad Thai, and Panang Curry are among my favorites. I have never been disappointed!
