I stopped in for lunch, after seeing many positive reviews. I also liked their website, which listed so many dishes that I would be interested in trying. It's a cute vibrant eatery and I felt welcome as soon as I walked in. Upon being seated, I was handed an enormously large menu that had so many great options. I cannot imagine not finding anything to eat haha! Here, you can have both Thai food and sushi and many familiar Asian dishes all in one place. I tried their duck spring roll appetizer and it was quite tasty. It was a roll with sliced duck, spring onion and vegetables served with a side sauce. Also their chicken katsu bento box and Thai eggplant with tofu box. The boxes come with a miso soup or house salad and the boxes had gyoza as well as a California roll and rice. OK, I'll just get this off my chest at the start. Asian fusion restaurants are a mixed blessing for me. As part of the diaspora which emmigrated from the Philippines, Asian fusion restaurants feel like watered down versions of multiple cultural cuisines; they can easily become cliches of identity. As the name of the restaurant is Bangkok Kitchen, I stuck with a few Thai dishes. The appetizer was Lucky Fish (white fish tempura with Thai creamy chili sauce) which was followed up by Chicken Pad Thai (medium spicy). Hit & a miss or, more specifically, a miss and a hit. The preparation of the Lucky Fish appetizer was fine, the tempura batter fried to a golden brown. As I ate it, to my palette, there was a lingering taste of "unfreshness". I know that's not a word but I couldn't get over the idea that someone in the kitchen found the last buried frozen white fish in the freezer and decided to cook it as this appetizer. If the ingredients are not good at the beginning of preparation, no amount of cooking or skill is going to create a great dish. The Chicken Pad Thai was so much better. Carby rice noodles, wok fried chicken in a sweet, slightly hot and funky fish sauce. The lime gave if lift and the peanuts provided textural crunch. Good stuff...saved the meal. Stopped by in hopes of finding my go-to place for good Thai food. This is not the place, sadly. I got the shrimp pad Thai and the tom ga soup. Neither were very good. The soup was the most disappointing. Service was nice, and fast. Ambiance was typical and as expected. The food itself was average for the metro area. Wanted to try a new place with happy hour specials and we found this gem. Was a little concerned when we were the only ones there but it started filling up shortly after got there. Their happy hour specials for the drinks were nice $5.95 margaritas but the small bites were ok. You saved a dollar. Forgot to take photos but the mango mojito were really good not too sweet or minty. We also got spicy crunchy salmon roll salmon sashimi and salmon atami (soy paper) roll. Which was AMAZING. Brought home Thai fried rice and crab ragoons for my husband. He said it was tasty even a few hours later after he got home from work. Service was pleasant and atmosphere was good. One of the best Thai restaurants in the capital district. The restaurant is fairly new, my go to Thai restaurant went out of business during COVID. The restaurant is spacious with extremely fast service. Make sure you make up your mind before you finalize your order as the order goes thru instantaneously, my son decided to change his mind 2 mins into the order but they were already cooking on the one we place initially. Overall, great food, good ambience and fast & friendly service. Been there around 5 to es by now, will go there again. Prefer going there for the lunch deals. Note that the lunch menu comes with rice even for noodles if placed online. I have asked them to fix it, and they never do!! read more

She had the pumpkin curry and I had Thai fried rice with shrimp (why do restaurant not take the tails of shrimp off when putting INTO a dish? ) Both were tasty. My wife particularly liked the pumpkin curry. Staff were not as friendly as they could have been. They got the job done, were attentive and the food was accurate to the order. Ambience is ok - kinda kitschy... I don't think they could get another one of those cat statues with the moving paw (waving?) if they actually had to.... It was very busy at 7 on a Friday. Good sign! Had high hopes but sadly lacking. Summer rolls were mostly lettuce with one small piece of shrimp. Sauce lacked flavor. Tom Yum soup was ok, nothing special. My favorite green papaya salad tasted harsh and overpowering. Our curry was swimming in sauce with little substance and the sea bass entree, while tasty, was also swimming in thick sauce. Service stood out as particularly poor - our waitress was in such a rush for us to order, gave no advice, and then proceeded to almost throw our food on the table, dripping a utensil with aforementioned sauce on my lap in her hurry. Waitress was rude! She also got all the orders mixed up with the "hotness". There were seven of us! I ordered extra spicy drunken noodles with just vegetables. They gave me bland noodles with shrimp. They gave my husband extra spicy and that's not what he asked for. Many of the meals were supposed to come with salad or soup and none were brought out. The happy hour margaritas were quite good. My brother's General's Tsaos chicken he enjoyed very much. The drunken noodles that I ordered extra spice, they were not spicy at all. Just had dinner tonight. It was cloaing time and one Old guy at bar was taking my bill and he was so rude and disrespectful. He dont know how to treat customer. When I was paying bill by card and I was about to pay tips by cash separately but he thought I am leaving without tips and he was like so rude amd telling me that why I am not giving any tips. He was saying that This is a rule to give tips every place and I should talk to my lawyer. He is crazy. I ended up with $5 tips with my bill. This is what you deserve. The stir fry was not fresh, it was precooked and reheated and not reheated well, parts of my meal were still cold. You could tell by looking at the food it wasn't fresh, the string beans were limp and the chicken was grey. read more

Went for lunch with a friend. They have great lunch specials and really good service. The portion size was adequate. The waitress was very attentive and informative. Went for dinner on a Sunday night ordered Drunken Noodles and green curry. The green curry was okay. The Drunken Noodles were a pile of flavorless mush - pretty gross. When we told the waiter his response was have you ever authentic Thai food? We have had literally 100s+ of Thai meals and drunken noodle is one of our favorites. This was the WORST ever. My DS was home for Thanksgiving holiday and DH and I hadn't been to this place before so we stopped for dinner. We arrived at about 6:00pm and were seated at a booth in the rear of the restaurant so we could enjoy conversation. I felt the music was a bit loud for the dinner hour more like a lunch time atmosphere. Lights were a bit bright but everything else was good, clean & pleasant servers. I ordered Curry Toti $5.95 fried coconut bread served with curry sauce as an appetizer to share with the table. It was very good. My choice for dinner was Stir fried chicken, broccoli & carrots with garlic gravy sauce served with a tasty green salad with orange dressing and steamed white rice $14. I thought it was good but plain. I would definitely try this place again and just try something different on the menu. Maybe they will turn down the lights for the dinner hour. :-) read more

Completely spontaneous decision to go out for dinner tonight and it ended up being a great night. We left the house to pick up some fast food and rush back home but saw Bangkok kitchen and decided to have dinner there. The restaurant was busy but we were able to get seated immediately. We had a wonderful server who although was taking care of several tables was extremely gracious and attentive. They were offering a Valentine's Day prix fixe menu but we decided to go a la carte. All of our choices were delicious from the appetizers to the mains. For appetizers we had the duck spring roll, mussels and duck salad and sushi and orange chicken for main entrees. We dine here regularly and every time our experience is nothing short of wonderful. They also offer great lunch options. Definitely give them a try. I opted for the three roll lunch special for $12.95 and every roll (shrimp cucumber, eel avocado and salmon avocado) were fresh and delicious. Lala is everything(bartender)! Originally I planned to place a togo order, but the vibe at the bar was so dope I had to stay and enjoy my Monkey Roll. While waiting on my order I ordered a chocolate martini. It was really good, sweet, tastes like a dessert or shall I say one should indulge in it while eating dessert. My bartender is so dope she let me have the extra that remained in the shaker. While sitting at the bar a bunch of regulars came in and we engaged in conversation and it made me feel right at home. Both the regulars and the bartender poured me shots of sake and we had a time! I def recommend this place! 100% recommend this place. I tried this place hoping the fusion aspect didn't negatively affect the Thai food. Drunken noodles was not drunk at all. There was barely any sauce and the flavor was just okay. I do prefer Celadon's drunken noodle flavor. At least the drunken noodle was edible. I also ordered a basil fried rice and it was awful. Not a long grain rice or jasmine rice.
