Great food, I had gotten lamb kebab and salad and fries. Service was great and quick . Ambience was quiet.

Lebanese Veggie Pies - with spinach

Ooooh my hubby and I love the food here. We have not had a thing we did not like. This was our second time visiting. I had the pumpkin kofta with rice and kabuli (a sweet carrot and raisin topping) and he had the beef and lamb pita wrap. We added a hummus plate as well. So yummy. It is always a bit warm there, but the food is worth it. Seating is not guaranteed because the space is small, but we have always been blessed. I am including photos from our first time there too!

I ordered takeout on a Friday night and was really excited to try Zaitoon. I ordered the Lebanese Veggie Pies, Lamb Gyro, Rice Plate with Beef and Smokey Buffalo Rub Chicken and Baklava Rolls. Short version: everything was absolutely delicious! Longer version: Though the Lebanese Veggie Pies were flavorful, I could go without them next time. The gyro was awesome and the rice plate was great. I did wish there was a little more meat on the rice plate, but again, everything was great. The desserts are made by a Niskayuna based dessert company, MeeZan Kitchen. I love that they support another small business and the dessert was really good! I'm looking forward to trying more things this year. Highly recommend!

This immaculately kept place is not to be missed! Although I noticed that their clientele do place their orders to go, they offer a cozy dine in eating area. Their Lebanese menu items and very popular gyros are so very tasty! I love that they provide ample tzatziki sauce in good size containers as I am a big condiment lover myself. I'm always disappointed when establishments are skimpy on it. I ordered lamb beef gyros to go and it met my every expectation. The pita was toasted nicely and had a generous ratio of gyro meat to my mixed greens and onions and tomatoes. It was moist and slightly saucy but of course I added extra tzatziki on it as I really love it! This will be a regular go to spot when I'm in Latham and craving either a chicken shawarma platter or gyro! Their service here is quick, friendly and efficient. It's a must try!

I feel so bad writing this review. This restaurant was rated so high that I was so eager to make it and the chef might have a bad day, and now I become the villain. The restaurant is centrally located in Latham, NY. I discovered this restaurant while I was at another restaurant across the street. I googled it when I got back home, and found this restaurant to be very highly rated. I wonder why restaurant management chose not to market it better. It's more like a self service restaurant, where you order at the counter and wait for the food. They have ample seating and while I was there, they did receive a lot of take out orders. The food arrived in a timely fashion, but my issue was with my main dishes that I ordered...a spicy sandwich for my son....the chicken was either old as it was way to fibery almost like a gum. Bolagni, had a weird smell, usually smells that way when oil is a lil old. Shawarma on a nan roll combo, I ordered fries as a side and the fries was stuffed into the shawarma, which was odd. The grape leaves was good. Overalls based on the reviews my expectations were high and that definitely were not met. I will probably go in again, giving them the benefit of doubt and leave the review neutral.

Talk about an upgrade! What was formerly Bob and Ron's Fish Fry is now a lovely near-eastern place, with a small seating area in the same area and walk-up counter service. We really liked Zaitoon at the other (since closed) location on Washington Extension, but somehow had never managed to have an occasion to eat at this one, until recently when we had an errand to run that went right by. The food is up to the standards of the other location -- very good for fast casual, service was reasonably prompt for fresh made (although not instant, nota bene), and the portions and variety of dishes are ample. We tend to stick to the vegetarian offerings, so this time we had the strange trio of the felafel bowl, the felafel salad, and felafel burger (while our fourth opted for his traditional cheeseburger - his fries were excellent, by the way). The felafel as good all three ways, although we'd recommend the bowl as it has rice and different vegetables in it. I really loved the cucumber-yogurt salad as a side. The place seems to have a loyal neighborhood following -- we had a steady parade of people come for pick-up orders in the early afternoon on a holiday -- and as noted, everything is made fresh, so plan accordingly.

Everything was amazing! Had the Jordanian Mansaf (Lamb Shank) which is a seasonal special as well the Lamb Chop and Salad. Sweet potato fries also were really good! Service was friendly and patient with our how long we took to decide.

Chicken Shawarma Rice Bowl Falafel. Delishhhhhh

Holy Moly! First time here...... won't be the last. Food was amazing and authentic, and the staff so helpful explaining all the menu nuances! The outdoor seating will be lovely on a dry day! Inside charming and quiet. Great atmosphere.

I am happy to provide an enthusiastic recommendation for this restaurant. Yelp had listed it as serving Afghan cuisine. If it does, I would suggest that there's more regional food on offer here. The chef said she is from Lebanon, but she prepared a Jordanian dish on two occasions we visited. I have eaten a good deal of Middle Eastern food and there's obviously a lot of diversity in cuisines across the region, but this was a work of artistry and obviously a very talented chef. The restaurant's format is "fast casual". Many people seem to preorder for takeout. The food, despite the format, includes preparations that take time. For those who stick around, there might be the chance to meet the chef, who clearly takes an interest in satisfying eaters.

Lamb/beef naan wrap. Note sauce cup in background for scale. This thing was HUUUGE.

Traveling within about 5 minutes on the way to visit a good friend, and it happened to be right around lunch time, the opportunity finally came. It's a casual place, lots of 2 and 4 top tables, but what caught my eye when we went in was the cooler full of amazing side options. Then you look up and there's a beautiful oven and a dough station. This is looking great. We sat and ordered lamb kebab and doner kebab. A couple minutes later, a large (~11x17?) wooden tray appeared with a piping hot lavash bread and a plate of dill yogurt sauce. If the meal had stopped there, I would have been a happy camper. We had just had a few pieces when the kebab arrived, each with a pepper, tomato, some red cabbage, and onion. Both meats were authentic and delicious. My favorite way to eat my doner was with a bit of the bread, a bit of the dill sauce, some onion and cabbage, and a bunch of meat - a mini gyro, if you will. We took away about 1/3 of the generous portions and ordered a large mixed plate (all 10 of the sides) and baklava to take to our friend. It's a bit of a drive for us, but any time we're anywhere close, we're going to be back for sit down (if it's mealtime) or takeaway if it's not. I highly recommend you do the same.

The place feels much more modern and inviting now. Our family especially enjoys the beyti kebab, the güveç, and their pide. I haven't tried the pizza yet, but since their pide is very good, I imagine the pizza would also be solid. For me though, the real highlight at Alibaba is the mezze. In Turkish cuisine, grilled meats and kebabs are almost always enjoyed with a variety of mezze. They might technically be sides, but they're a big part of the whole experience. These days there are several Turkish kebab places in the area, but none of them offer a wide selection of fresh, house-made mezze like Alibaba does. At many places you're lucky if you find one or two options, often just a basic ezme. At Alibaba you'll find around ten different mezze and each one tastes distinct and freshly made. Every time I tell myself I'll just take a little... and somehow I end up filling a big mezze plate. Honestly, even when we grill at home, our motivation is picking up mezze from Alibaba to go with it. I'm not sure if it gets the credit it deserves, but don't skip the mezze here -- you'd be missing out. In fact, start with the mezze and figure out the rest later :))

I love the baba ganouj and the grape leaves (with meat and without). Also delicious is the za'atar pizza, what I know as lamejun. Any combination of these or all three is a perfect meal. Last time I was there I got the beef gyro and it was so much food! Best of all, it was delicious! There are lots of vegetarian options on the menu and many things that can be made gluten and/or dairy free. When you stop in, be sure to pickup a package or ten of their halvah. I am not a halvah person, but I always make sure to bring some home. I've seen plain, chocolate . . . and pistachio at the register. So, so good! One of the main attractions that drew us to suggesting Barcelona for the celebration of a birthday…read morefor one of our party of four was the abundance of seafood on the menu. The tables are not too close to each other, the noise level is moderate, you can hear what others at your table are saying, and the parking lot is large enough that you'll find a parking spot. Our six o'clock dinner reservation on a Friday found the restaurant almost full. We were promptly seated and our server took the opportunity to inform us of the chef's specials for the evening before we were distracted by the menus on the table. I won't be able to share prices with you in this review since I never got to see the final bill. I also will not be commenting on what the other couple ordered other than to say they were very pleased with their food and the entire night's experience. We all started with cocktails for the celebration. My wife had a Coffeetini (sp?) and I ordered a Mexican Negroni. Both drinks were excellent for drinking throughout dinner. The 'tini was on the slightly sweet side while my Negroni seemed more savory. When I heard one of the chef's specials was an octopus appetizer I knew right away that I'd be ordering it. Served on a skewer with vegetables and a sauce of which I don't recall the composition, the octopus was cooked properly to have just the right amount of chewiness. A nice blend of textures and flavors. My wife ordered the Red Snapper Veracruz. The fish was seared and sauteed in garlic, olive oil, tomatoes, capers, and olives, served with mussels and clams; it also came with rice and vegetables. A beautiful looking dish. Unfortunately, the snapper was overcooked and not flaky. It was however a very flavorful dish, especially the next day when the leftovers were reheated. My entrée choice was the other Chef's special for the evening. Initially described, better than I can, as salmon served over mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach, as I was placing my order I was informed that it had been upgraded to have a three ounce lobster tail on top. What a nice surprise! It was delicious. The salmon seemed slightly over done but the lobster tail was perfect. The potatoes and spinach were very tasty. Along with good cups of coffee my wife and I were very pleased with the house-made Coconut Flan and Chocolate Tres Leches. The Flan was caramelized coconut custard with coconut rum and coconut milk, topped with coconut shavings. The Tres Leches was chocolate cake soaked in Baileys and cream with layers of chocolate mousse. Both were delicious. Service was top notch. Our server was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and very patient with us. Overall, a very nice place for any occasion.
