Guys I found it! I found my favorite capital region eatery. Specifically, the "quick", easy, and cost effective food spot. I don't consider it "fast food" but sure, it's an assembly line bowl place, similar to the "chipotle" concept. I've now tried both the Albany (Stuyvesant plaza) location and the OG - Coxsackie one. Both were amazing. The big bowl at Coxsackie was ~$12 and it totally fills me up. Tastes delicious, and you can customize it, and I don't feel they nickel and dime ya, with up charges. Everything tastes fresh and the portion for price is on par and great for what you get. Pita is included with every bowl. Now, I can't wait to taste and try the entire menu and zero in on my favorite bowl, or do a make your own. Thanks Simones. You'll see me a bunch. So good and fresh! I ordered ahead through their app so obviously no wait when I arrived. It's a bright and clean space with plenty of parking. My husband had the falafel bowl and loved it! It would be difficult to find a place that handles gluten allergies as well as Simone's. All ingredients are gluten free, with the exception of the pita bread (which is wrapped and stored separately). Everyone on the line (including the cashier) changed their gloves as my bowl moved along and was placed on a tray separate from my dining partners. Simone's Kitchen blows me away every time I visit. The interior is very well designed with plenty of seating for a nice lunch or dinner. The large selection of Mediterranean food options are always fresh and delicious. I love the chicken shawarma bowl (pictured) as it always leaves me full, but not uncomfortably stuffed. I've had the tofu and falafel and both are equally as delicious. The staff are always very welcoming and happy to help make the perfect dish! The owner is also very nice. I have ordered takeout from them twice now. They are very busy so I recommend using their website to order online and skip the long line. You can be very specific about your ingredients and as someone who doesn't appreciate a lot of sauces, I like that. The pita pocket sandwiches are on the smaller size but also cost less so you can try more things. The pita wraps are for bigger appetites. I really like the goat cheese pie. My partner and I discovered this place while walking around Stuyvesant Plaza and we both fell in love with it. I'm pretty sure it's a fairly new establishment. Anyway, we walked in and took a quick gander at the menu, which wasn't too big or too small, which I like. Not too much to choose from but also not limiting. It was juuuust the right size, which I love. This is one of the things I look for in menus anywhere I go. Big menus are a red flag for me. You just can't make tons of things great. Anyway, back to it. The workers were all very polite and helpful when answering questions about dish options. They were quick and efficient in putting our bowls together. I was impressed with how fresh everything is here. There is a window to the kitchen where you can see all the workers freshly preparing every ingredient they serve. You can just taste the difference too. Everything is just bursting with flavor. This paired with the cleanliness of the place and the friendly staff goes a long way in my book. I'm a very picky person when it comes to eating out because I'm weirded out by not being able to see how my food is prepared. I'm a bit of a food safety freak but this place checked all my boxes and put me at ease with its cleanliness, food quality, and service. Wow - I'm sad it took my so long to get here, and sad because I'll probably be spending a lot of money here going forward. First of all, you can order online from their website. I've never done it for anywhere (no food ordering apps where I live, except Pizza Hut and Moe's....ok I've done it with Moe's once....) I ordered a falafel big bowl and added feta, my husband ordered a chicken shawarma big bowl. You can also Make Your Own bowl. Paid online, they told me 20 minutes, which was perfect for my commute from Ravena to Simone's. Pulled in, the 2 employees I saw smiled and greeted me, asked if I was picking up, handed me my food and I was out. I was curious, because I've never been before - is it hot? Cold? Will is all be soggy? Is it mostly rice with a smattering of toppings? It was the perfect room temperature, seriously. Everything was nice and fresh - my husband wished there was more chicken (not surprising, he's the guy that gets extra meat in every burrito/sub/sandwich). I tasted his meat and tabbouleh - so good!! I loved my falafel bowl - there wasn't a ton of rice, and it was at the bottom of the bowl. Fresh spinach on top, and all the other items arranged prettily on top. As an avid fan of beets, I surprisingly didn't like the "crunchy beets" - I couldn't tell if they were raw or what. The falafel is probably my favorite in the area (I'm talking Kingston to Albany, not that I've tried every falafel there is) - crunchy outside, not greasy, soft and SO flavorful inside. I've been thinking nonstop of Simone's since I had it. And I found the cost reasonable, $18 and change for the 2 big bowls (not sure the size of the regular bowl, but it's only $1 or $2 more for big so I assume a better deal?) I went to McDonald's recently and spent almost $10 on a meal for myself, kicking myself that Simone's would've been cheaper, healthier, supporting a small business, and probably faster! I haven't had the opportunity to review any new local restaurants lately but I kept hearing such glowing reviews of Simone's Kitchen's bowls, we had to get some for takeout. Generous portions, everything so fresh and delicious! Great place. We were passing thru the area (going down 87, and it's not too far off the highway) so we stopped here. They have dishes for meat eaters and vegans and all in between! Most of it is a make your own type of dish... protein, veggies, rice, sauce. I had the Mediterranean burrito bowl, which was excellent. The girls behind the counter making the food were very helpful and seemed happy to be working there. The place it light and clean, with plenty of tables. The containers and utensils are compostable, which is good for the environment. When we were done with our meals, the owner asked us how we liked it. Nice touch, shows that he cares about his restaurant. My wife, who's vegan, started talking to him how she liked the choices and what-not. Overall it was a good experience and I've book-marked the place so I know where it is the next time we're travelling through the area. I'm a fan. read more

I was on my way home from Newburgh with my colleague and we were looking to grab something healthy for dinner. We found Simone's Kitchen just off I-87 and were more than pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem!! We were greeted by, what I had come to find out, was one of the owners who made me a custom bowl. He was extremely helpful in guiding me to the perfect bowl. I chose veggies, spicy tofu (the homemade seasoning was incredible), greek salsa, chickpeas, classic hummus, and the seasonal pesto hummus with stuffed grape leaves of top. With such great low prices, we decided we had to add a spinach feta pitza to our order. For a beverage, I hesitantly selected the beet lemonade and I am glad that I did, I was so impressed with how refreshing it was, especially on a 90+ degree day! Before I left, I had to grab a spread of food to go for my family so that they could try this deliciousness at home. For my Mom, I ordered the fan favorite Chicken Shawarma and for my brother, the Meatball Bowl. They were equally as impressed by the freshness and portion sizes. I would highly recommend the homemade sampler to see which hummus you like best because we all had different favorites. We were driving up to Lake George from NY for the long weekend and found this wonderful spot. Super friendly counter service. I honestly didn't expect such organic, fresh and flavorful Mediterranean bowls just a couple miles off the highway but it was absolutely 100% worth the detour. The menu is extensive, the bowls come with a choice of quinoa, greens or rice and best of all they had two delicious vegetarian protein options: tofu & falafel. We also really enjoyed the refeshing orange blossom lemonade. Unlike another reviewer, I think the crunchy beets were the perfect topping, also recommend the grape leaves as an extra. This place is hidden in a strip mall opppsite from a Family Dollar but my husband said their food could hold its own in a taste test with our favorite Greek spot in Manhattan. I have to agree!
