The food was not good, the ambiance was very quiet because there was no one there. But the service was great. Very friendly and polite.

For mains my guests had the fried sampler platter, broiled and cajuned shrimp and scallops, and I had the prime rib added scallops at $3 each. My prime rib was tasty and substantial but the temperature was just warm, not hot, and therefore had to be sent back. Once corrected the meal was great. Scallops were small but they gave me double the amount at the same price because of the size. The sides were mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts which were seasoned well and tasted great. Sprouts were tender but not mushy. Potatoes were tasty with a good intentional lumpiness that I appreciated. Also tried the lavender lemonade mocktail which was delicious. Decided against adding the one pound of King Crab as the market price was $99 and I can get a bag of two pounds for $70. We didn't do dessert but will next time were in the area because the slices of chocolate cake we saw were HUGE and the varieties looked scrumptious. Service was pleasant although there was a long block of time after we received our food where we were looking for the waitress so we could pay. The busser ended up pitching in. Overall, great food and service with older, living room vibe decor. Would recommend!

The dining rooms are spacious. And the tables' seating is comfortable. They are able to accommodate small and larger parties. The offerings at Easter Brunch are exceptional: Leg of lamb with mint jelly, baked ham with raisin sauce, scalloped potatoes, tossed, salad, coleslaw, roasted cauliflower, omelettes, bacon, sausage, waffles with berry compote and that is just some of the items--see the menu pic provided. Our server was gracious, she kept our glasses full, cleared our finished plates and checked in on us often. Red's is ALWAYS a pleasure to dine at!

I also have to say -- I genuinely do not understand some of the comments saying the waitstaff were rude or uninviting. Every female waitress we encountered was beyond gorgeous, cheerful, smiling constantly, and so kind to both me and my older great aunt. We got so many sweet compliments throughout the day and everyone made us feel very welcome. Michelle behind the bar was especially lovely and pours a STRONG drink, which we appreciated Honestly, I'm surprised they weren't busier for Memorial Day weekend, although maybe the bigger crowd came earlier in the day. Food-wise, the appetizers and seafood specials were very satisfying and obviously fresh. We ordered the crab cakes, soft shell crab special, their clam special (half clam casino / half clam oreganata), and a Bloody Mary topped with what had to be 12 shrimp. The crab dishes especially were fantastic -- those crab cakes were PACKED with crab and tasted incredibly fresh. I do want to leave a couple honest criticisms though. I was not impressed with the mussels in white wine sauce, despite multiple waitresses recommending them. This is a dish I order frequently in NYC and Long Island, so maybe my standards are high, but the sauce was unusually sweet -- my great aunt noticed it immediately too. It almost tasted like a sweet white wine was used, which just doesn't work for this kind of dish. The wine either tasted low quality or maybe wasn't cooked off enough. One other thing that disappointed me: the drawn butter is definitely not real butter. It tasted like a vegetable oil-based substitute. For a seafood restaurant serving fresh crab and lobster, I really think real butter should be standard. That said, I would absolutely come back here for the vibes alone. Beautiful waterfront setting, friendly staff, strong drinks, and fresh seafood made for such a relaxing holiday afternoon.

We were sat at a large table on the huge patio, and it was good, even though the live music ended a bit early. Our server was lovely, her smile never faltering even when my mother insisted we sing for a birthday boy at the table. Personally, I want to eat seafood anytime I'm near the water, and this was no exception. We shared oysters (solid, but very pricey), baked clams (quite small, but tasty enough), sesame crusted ahi tuna (solid), a beet salad special (well balanced and one of the best things we had), and fish and chips for my kids (solid). In the future, I'll probably stick with starters because those were a better bet than the mains. We shared the Cod Mediterranean and the Honey Soy Glazed Salmon. Both dishes were undersized, underseasoned, and overcooked. That's a bad combination. If I have anything to say about it, and I usually don't, we'll be back for drinks and apps but forego the mains next time.

This is a haute cuisine place that is masked by the casual dining atmosphere. Seriously: top notch chef, original recipes, a core dedication to quality seafood, paired with a fresh fish counter and some prepared food to go. We usually go for something special, but tonight I decided to get an old childhood standby, fried clams (the Boston Basket) and the fish burger sandwich. I did not expect either to be as transportive as they turned out to be. The fried clams were as delicately done as I've ever had: not crispy, but not too floppy, with excellent breading. And while I prefer my clams naked, we tried all three of the dipping sauces -- a remoulade, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce. Now normally I loathe cocktail sauce and can take tartar sauce or leave it, so I figured we'd eat up the remoulade and ignore the other two. Still, I gave them little nibbles. Man! The cocktail sauce was like no other I've had, with a heavy hint of horseradish and a far fresher flavor than I've ever had. Then the tartar sauce -- genius! It had a delicate spicing, with capers providing a floral backdrop. That was only a preliminary, as the fish burger proved to be complex, with hints of multiple kinds of fish, and a fennel-based spicing. I ended up having that afterglow, as if I'd had a couple of cocktails and was sitting next to a fireplace, that is the hallmark of truly fine food at an advanced level. We also had the usual outstanding service, attentive without being pushy. I seriously think Hooked should consider splitting into two restaurants: one where the ambiance is upgraded to match the high caliber of the food, and another cheaper one that is strictly fast casual and takeout, and they'd more than double the business. There is a restaurant back where we come from in California, Turtle Bay, that did this with fine dining on one side and the quick, simple, and affordable food on the other side, with a big shared kitchen between them but with completely separate ambiances. That way I could come back more frequently, and still have the original Hooked for special occasions!

Now the downfall, the chicken sandwich. I did notice other plates coming to tables looking like the fryer temp. is too hot, or cook time was too long. Some fish fry that came out looked quite dark as did my chicken, as you can see! A slight burnt taste was evident. It had good flavor under that burn, and the chicken was close to not being juicy, almost dry. The place is clean, and if not for the location, I would sit at the bar and have the raw bar! Something very important to me that hit me the instant I stepped through the door, if you're looking for a great shot of A/C on a hot day, not here!!! Barely got comfortable from the almost 90 degree day on a bike, and then worked up a return of sweating as the place filled up.

I got the eggplant Parmesan and it was so good. The sauce was well balanced tomato with cheese on top. And the eggplant was crusted beautifully, nice and crispy. Another thing I appreciate about this restaurant is that they have a dedicated vegetarian section of the menu. For those who don't eat meat, they got you covered. It can get a little crowded during rush dinner time but you shouldn't have a problem getting a seat. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area. Best Italian food in the local area.
