chicken francaise dinner - A person wearing a floral-patterned shirt and beige sweater is using a fork and knife to cut into a chicken francaise dish on a white plate. The dish includes breaded chicken topped with sauce and garnished with chopped herbs, served over a bed of pasta. The background shows a restaurant interior with wooden chairs and tables.

My wife and I went here for a dinner back in July.I made reservations and we were seated in the back were the ac was on..It was a hot muggy night and we were glad we got to sit in a cool room. We had our server come within 5 min to take our orders.I had the chicken supreme with linguine and my wife ordered the chicken francaise. I will say I wasn't expecting great results but was happy with the quality of the dish. We were served fairly quickly and it was worth the wait!. my dish was a cream sauce with mushrooms and parsley.Your order will come with hot french bread which was also very good. My wife said she would definitely come back here again.

    Chicken spiedini

So recently my wife and I were out for a day of fun with my family and a couple of their friends, and we were trying to find a place to have dinner at. We thought of a few different local places and collectively chose to eat here. Now I've never been prior but have always heard decent things about here and how the food was always good. Well sadly I have to say that this was not the case. As per the two dishes that are shown (in the photos attached) the portions aren't terrible, that's that the case for the less than stellar rating. Mostly is comes from the lack of what felt like a desire to put out a killer dish from the kitchen. It felt as if just waiting for the initial salads that came with the entrees took the better portion of half and hour to almost 45 minutes. Not sure what the delay would have been seeing that it appeared the restaurant itself was not that busy with a large quantity of people. It seemed a disarray of plate sizes and consistency among the initial salads. When I went to move my plate to place on top of my wife's, (just to clear room on the table) it was noticeable the size difference between the two. Now I have to say that the chicken spiedini was alright, lacking a bit in the department of flavor and robust aroma. It felt more like a poor attempt to convert a chicken cordon bleu sans the breading and add in artichokes and what was supposed to be a brandy cream sauce. Well unfortunately the brandy cream sauce didn't hold up to what I would have expected. It seemed lacking the flavors of the brandy and the sauce was semi watered down, almost creating a "soup" like consistency. As for the dish as a whole it had a touch too much salt added to it, almost overpowering the other flavors. My wife had the baked ziti, and she said it was alright. When she showed me the interior of what was inside, it seemed they forgot to actually add enough sauce to keep the whole dish from drying out, as well as a lack of some serious ricotta cheese. Now I've been to a few different places that are Italian restaurants and this was probably lacking that certain appeal that draws you in. The wait staff seemed to be friendly. Just our waitress seemed to be in a bit of a rush running around and semi forgetful with being attentive to refills on drinks and such. I was actually surprised that they didn't offer the table a carafe (or two because of the party size) of water just so people didn't have to constantly ask about getting refills of water, or having I reach across the entire table for glasses. For a first time visit, I didn't find the experience that appealing. Or leaving me with wanting to return for a second go around. Hopefully they can actually fix some of the issues with the kitchen (food in particular) and overall dining experience.

Veal & eggplant Parm - A white oval plate holds veal and eggplant Parmesan covered with melted cheese, tomato sauce, and grated cheese. The dish is garnished with herbs and appears to be served hot, with a knife inserted into the food. The background shows a dark table surface and part of another plate.

We were not disappointed. We were seated promptly by our lovely hostess, and Shaun immediately came over to recite specials and to take our orders. He was attentive and we knew we were in good hands! We started with the Dr. Fox Cocktail: Angostura bitters, Bulleit Rye, Apple Liqueur, Dry Curacao, and Sweet Vermouth, which was perfect. It was accompanied by a hummus trio to spread on the bread. There was also a delicious foccacio. Next we were served a perfect salad, delicately dressed, and what made the salad so delightful was that the lettuce was torn into manageable pieces. A pet peeve of mine is large lettuce leaves that are difficult to wrangle, and this was not the case here. There were also tiny bits of cauliflower that gave the salad a nice texture and crunch.  I had the Stuffed Artichoke and my husband had Shrimp Gamberi on an Arugula salad. Both were substantial and beautifully seasoned. We had two glasses of an Argentine Tomero Malbec. It was a generous pour. For the main course, I had Polla al Limone (Lemon Chicken) over spinach. A simple dish done well. My husband had the Halibut special, a classic Mediterranean baked halibut with tomatoes, capers, and olives. So good that he finished it all...a rarity for him. (The halibut was pricey and it would be appreciated if the price was mentioned when the specials were gone over. Perhaps we should have asked.) We finished with a Sorbetto al Lampone, a tart raspberry sorbet in a dark chocolate shell and sliced.  And as we left, our sweet hostess brought over Lucianno, the most adorable puppy, to send us off with puppy kisses! We definitely will be back...especially for the wild boar ragu over pappadelles. One nitpicking observation. The entrance to the restaurant was a tad shabby. We mistook it for the service entrance. It needs to be spruced up to match the superb food inside!

Usually I like to pick what dishes are considered popular on Beli but I really wanted to try them, they're just too hot and not very satisfying to kick off your palate. The bread was okay, a little (very) messy and the hummus trio was cute but not necessary or particularly tasty. The pollo al limone and gamberoni e fagioli were good, a little dry but not a deal breaker. Service was nice, the place is pretty casual so I would recommend for a regular casual date night, it's not fine dining--the experience was nice but not luxurious. What I mean is it's cozy and inviting, not elegant and stuffy. Cheers!

We then shared the flat iron steak, which was cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed a few glasses of a Tuscan blend, which was just the thing to complement our meal. All in all, it was the perfect Saturday date night dinner, in a cozy, romantic setting. We trudged through the snow, back to our hotel, happy and full. We'll definitely return.

While it was too hot to sit outside when we dined here, we made sure to start with a couple of Aperol spritzes, which were delicious and exactly what the night called for. I wouldn't say the food was as mind blowing as many of the reviews have described it to be, but it was still very good, albeit a bit inconsistent. We'll of course need to return to sample more of the menu (particularly the pastas, which we did not try on this occasion). We came here at around 8:30pm on a Wednesday night. When I looked online, I saw reservations opens throughout the night, so I didn't end up making one, mainly because we weren't sure what time we'd make it out for dinner. As it turned out -- mostly like because it was Wednesday and many places in town are closed -- Via Cassia was packed and there was nothing open when we arrived. We ended up sitting maybe 15 minutes later so it didn't end up being much of an issue, and we made sure to put in an order of Aperol spritzes to sip on while we waited. Food-wise, we ended up going the protein and veggie route and forgoing the pastas. I usually don't give much attention to pastas at Italian restaurants because I'm gluten-free, but through my thorough review review, I saw that Via Cassia offers gluten-free pasta and that it is heralded as quite good. I happened to not be in the mood for pasta on this particular night but it seems like that is where Via Cassia shines, so I'll know better next time. What we had, as I mentioned, was still solid though. Eats, below: Black Tuscan Kale Salad w/ honey and black truffle vinaigrette and ricotta salata: A+ Far and away the best thing we had. I honestly could have had three of these instead of the two veggie sides we got, and that's a lot coming from me because I'm always out for the most variety possible. The lacinato kale was so fresh and delicious and held the magical and heavenly dressing in the perfect way. The ricotta on top made it that much more decadent (decadent for a salad, at least). Grilled Quail w/ lemon yogurt and roasted corn: A- Always excited to see quail on a menu. The amount of protein was a bit smaller than we were expecting and while cooked very well, it was definitely underseasoned. However, the corn, yogurt and all other accompaniments were super flavorful and delicious, and when combined with the quail in one bite, it altogether worked very well. Halibut w/ cherry tomatoes, roasted summer squash, cucumber: B+ Similar to the quail, the halibut was fairly bland but the accompaniments were well-seasoned and flavorful, and paired nicely with the fish to make for a well-rounded and tasty bite. I appreciated the use of seasonal ingredients, as bright and colorful as they were fresh. Broccolini w/ black garlic mustard and pickled chilis: B Beginning to think someone had a bit too light of a touch on the salt or something on this particular night, because the broccolini was also lacking some flavor. All components were there and you'd expect with this preparation to have good flavor, but it wasn't quite there. Also very oily. Roasted Baby Carrots w/ honey and pink peppercorn vinaigrette: A- Oily again, but more flavor this time, making it somewhere between a B+ and A-. The vinaigrette itself was light and tasty -- the oiliness seemed to mostly come from what I imagine was involved in the roasting process. In any case, an easy fix, and these were otherwise very good, a hit for my partner in particular. We split the negroni (made with Malfy gin, which I hadn't heard of before) at the end of the night because we wanted to try it without drinking all that much. Highly recommend and splitting one will not feel even close to enough. Next time I'll be getting a whole one for myself, no sharing allowed.

The food was excellent overall. We had a sense of what we wanted but then the server came over and told us the specials which threw us for a loop! I was dead set on getting pasta because Feast & Floret is known for their homemade pasta but we ended up ordering a few different plates: Quail Special - This was my first time ever having quail. The plate came out with 2 whole birds and to say I wasn't nervous would be a lie. It was a little salty (not sure if maybe it should be) but tender and delicious. It came with creamed Kale and nuts. Chilled Beets with Mint - Weird having with a hot meal but still so good. Butternut Squash Arancini -- A must try. You can taste a hint of butternut squash. It wasn't too overpowering. Affogato - The simplest dessert on the menu but worth it. Regarding drinks, try their Honey Old Fashioned. I'm not a whiskey drinker but always try my girlfriend's drink when we go out. Their Honey Old Fashioned was so good that it made me want to order one for myself! Feast & Floret also sells their own honey.
