I have eaten here several times and find the regular slices to be terrible (soggy, oily). I've ordered pies with toppings and they're not evenly distributed (also soggy and oily). Not good. If you have to have pizza, it will work. But nothing special or memorable. Staff is indifferent. read more

Wow just wow. I never thought I would be almost assaulted at a pizzeria. I called in an order for a pie with toppings and on pick up was informed only cash. I had no cash and told them it would have been nice to know this upon ordering. Upon that one of their customers lashed out at me that I should have known better. Quite shaken I secured cash from their onsite machine and left with my pie to find out once I got home it was only a plain pie and I paid over $25 dollars for one with toppings. I truly felt violated. Kind of a switch situation. I called and they said "Opps" and come back for the right one (they couldn't have called me when they found the error?). My husband went back and just wanted our money back at this point since it was an hr later. He was again assaulted by what I would believe to be the same local who claimed he was being disrespectful for returning the pie. The owners close for like, a month every year, and that's always when I need a sub the most. Because I am here to evangelize the subs at Village. This was a fantastic pizza. Perfect crust, flavorful sauce, and they don't skimp on toppings, which are all clearly fresh. We ordered a veggie pizza and devoured it. It was exactly what we needed for dinner that evening and well worth the 40 minute wait on a Monday evening because we could walk around and enjoy the nearby shops in that part of town. They are clearly popular with locals and visitors alike. There are now signs in multiple places right when you enter the store and near the register clearly indicating that this is a cash only business. Village 2 is not so secretly the best pizza in New York outside of the city. I've lived in upstate New York for nearly 20 years and all the locals know if you want the good pizza you go here. We live over an hour away and will make the hike here because it is just the best. The pizza is always cooked correctly, crispy crust, not too thin, and fresh delicious ingredients. I've never had them but I've also heard great things about their sandwiches. Any meal they serve, any time of the day I can vouch for 100%. Can't say enough good things about this place. If you intend on going (which you absolutely should), know that they only take cash and checks. Also make sure you call with a half hour notice at least, they tend to be pretty busy. read more

I love this place. The bad review a week ago had to be from a competitor. The adorable couple that own and run the place do a fantastic job. I love the remodel, and the hero's are A+. We were so happy to find Village Pizza II open around 8pm on a weekday night. I'm a picky pizza eater, being originally from metro NYC, and a four stars is a Very Good rating. But don't get me wrong - there was room for improvement. We got one each regular & sicilian pizzas with pepperoni on both. (We would have gotten OLIVES and pepperoni on one of them, but they only had black olives. Consider offering green too!) The cheese and sauce were both good, and the crusty tasty - but the cheese could have been stretchier, and the bottom crusts were a tad on the hard/crunchy side. [Great pizza flops. And the cheese REALLY stretches. Let's keep that in mind.] The sicilian top "crust" was appropriately pillowy. The pepperoni was "off", somehow, and that flavor dominated. Perhaps they use Boars Head? An excellent brand, but consider going with an Italian pepperoni brand for pizza instead. This place is "cash only" which was a minor inconvenience, but I can see where a lot of restaurants are in the "Tax Empire" state. read more

My fiance absolutely adores this place. Swears that it's the best pizza place ever. In my opinion, it's the best pizza place... in Catskill. I'm not even sure how many options there are for pizza in the area, so that might not be saying a whole lot. I find the pizza here to be very greasy and (can't believe I am saying this) there's almost too much cheese. The sauce tastes pretty good, but the crust is often too thin and flimsy on the bottom and just okay around the edges. You do, however, get a very large slice. All in all, definitely not bad but definitely not great. One thing I cannot believe about this joint is that they do not take credit cards! Come on, it's the 21st century and you are a pizza place!! I was really upset when I was picking up a pizza one day and told that I could not use my card, but that I could go across the street to an ATM (and probably pay an absurd fee there) to be able to use cash. Luckily I had cash on me, but I had planned to use it for something else. Had I not had cash on me, I would have left Village without my pizza because their prices are steep to begin with - I wasn't going to tack on another $2+ for an ATM fee to pay for the pizza. I really think Village should consider getting set up to accept credit cards. read more

A surprisingly great place and hotspot for Catskill, NY. My family and I have always gone to Village Pizzeria in Saugerties and never really bothered with Village Pizza II due to the fact that the owners had nothing to do with it/sold it off to different people down the line. The pizza was great - crispy, good sauce, good cheese, and the large is big enough for at least three people. Price was reasonable. Inside of the pizzeria was classic Italian style. Service was great. All I can say is good work on the part of the new owners and everyone involved in cooking the food and maintaining the business. read more
