My first time to Sue's as a local in the neighborhood, I was greeted my Fred with a friendly smile. I was on my lunch break so I ordered to go. Fred suggested the chicken cutlet hero. My order was in quickly, while I enjoyed the Yankee game at the bar on big HD flatscreens. My sandwich was delicious, real cutlet lightly breaded, with very fresh bread. Excellent service!! Very friendly. Multiple girls were helping us. The salad was good. I got the chicken picatta which was plenty! There were too many capers in there though and a bit too salty. I'd like to try out their other pasta. The lasagna was quite bland and didn't mesh well. You could taste each ingredient separately. Got a shot at the bar afterwards which was on the house! I am giving this review for so many reasons. This is the biggest, little town place i know. I was just overwhelmed with the staff, the service and the empathy the entire team expressed for our family as we gathered for a very late evening grieving a loss. We were about 90 min late to an already later reservation and they welcomed us without a blink of an eye. It might as well have been 5pm. The owner was excited to pump out some Old Fashioned's and even cranked one out for himself in honor of our family member. It was a solemn evening that just watched the frowns turn to smiles hour by hour. I really do attribute a lot of this to the owner and the staff. What we experienced may be more-so for local folk vs the passers-by but if you're local i am highly recommending this place for any occasion. I went to Sue's with great expectations after reading the reviews and left with great disappointment. The servers and staff were very friendly but the food was very bland. Husband had chicken parm and left more than half on his plate. I had a very large and very bland calzone. I had less than half. So I don't get the feelings expressed by others. Came here on a cold night and got seated right away without waiting. The waitress came quick and settled us. Ordered some calamari and some pizza. The calamari was very crispy, and the pizza tasted amazing! Sue's restaurant seems like a nice place for family gathering or just a place to have a nice lunch/dinner date. I called five minutes before I planned to show up with a group of twelve people to celebrate our son's black belt karate achievement. The staff was totally welcoming to our group with a table set before our arrival. The waitress addressed us quickly. Drink orders were taken followed by an order for calamari, wings, anti-pasta and four pies. Everything came out quickly with just enough time between each course. We were very happy with all of the food that was served. Additionally Sue's is well decorated and comfortable. The bar is separated from the tables so there was comfort in knowing neither were bothering the other. We heard their steak is delicious and definitely plan to go back again. We went for the first time yesterday,we ordered calamari ,which was so good and a hefty portion. Then my friend ordered eggplant parmesan and I ordered a sausage and pepper roll .Both were outstanding Do yourself a favor and ordered the garlic drizzle on Everything. Always have quality food here! My wife and I usually each get a personal pan pie and never leave hungry! I loved the renovations that they had done back in 2012 I felt that it gave them a refreshed clean look! However it was so open from the dinning area into the bar it was hard to hear what was going on and have a conversation! To my delight the last time we went they had built a wall between the two areas and it was such a better atmosphere! Disgusting food. My husband and I both ordered entrees that came with salad and bread and also a soup. The red sauce they use tasted so bad that I wanted to send mine back, something I've never done, however our waitress could not be found. The red sauce actually tasted like metal and was definitely the worst I've ever eaten including Ragu. Also, our meals was clearly microwaved and the cheese on my plate had congealed in a gross fashion. The french onion soup I got was also the worst I've ever had- including from mediocre diners. The salads were also absolutely terrible as was the bread. I am in shock that this place is so highly rated. Our area has amazing restaurants so there is no reason to go here to eat. If you're looking for amazing pizza- go to Giordanos or maybe Slices. For amazing Italian restaurants, go to Savona's in Kingston or La Conco D'ora in Catskill. This place is a bust. read more

Went in this evening for dinner around 6:30pm. Three people at the bar and two booths of customers. Stood there 5- 10 minutes and a waitress passed us by , no "Hello" and said I'll be with you in a minute. One waitress behind register says nothing and walks away. Continued to wait so we walked out. This was our third and last visit to this restaurant, always the same type of greeting and you wait forever. Sue's was delicious! I went with a small group so I was able to try a whole bunch of the menu. We had some scrumptious flat-bread pizza (with mozzarella, tomato and drizzled with balsamic) and calamari to kick things off along with some antipasto and stromboli.. which were all fantastic. I almost ruined my appetite because I couldn't stop noshing on all of it and soaking up that balsamic with bread. thankfully, almost only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades, so I was safe to keep on eating. entrees around the table were fantastic too. i had eggplant parmesan which was as good as any i've had. and i've had a lot. there was a chicken marsala and another flat-bread pizza. one of our party had a dish specially prepared by the chef that wasn't on the menu; rigatoni pasta with anchovies and garlic. i sneaked a bunch of forks full - and it just made my mouth water a little thinking about it. note to all: if you have a craving and don't see anything of the sort on the menu, don't hesitate to ask, as they can probably hook you up. the service is very friendly at sue's. it is a family run, fun place to eat. i will be going back - more than once. read more

This is a strong, solid 3 and more like a 3.5. It's a bar/restaurant, neighborhood place. I went on a crowded Saturday night, so it was loud and active. Quiet dining was not going to happen, not the type of place for romance and soft talking. Friendly staff and me and my colleague had good meals -- lasagne, good sized dish and a pepperoni Stromboli doused with fresh garlic. We stayed long after our meal to chat and since the place had thinned out, we weren't pushed to leave. If you're in the area, give it a try. While the service was good, the food was mediocre at best. The chicken I ordered appeared to have been microwaved. The salad was not fresh at all, and was made up of canned olives and iceberg lettuce. The most disappointing, however, was the house wine I ordered which was one of the worst and most vinegary glasses of wine I have ever had. It had teaspoon-sized piles of jarred garlic all over the surface and four sad pale tomato slices (even though it was still tomato season!) First let me start with the food the very good. The service was horrendous, the waitress brought us the bill which was the wrong one so we waited for her to come back. After about 20 minutes we finally got the manager to help cause the waitress just kept talking to her friends or regulars and didn't pay attention at all he came back with wrong bill even after about 5 minutes then we finally got our correct bill from the waitress. This newly renovated restaurant not only has an inviting, friendly atmosphere filled with old world charm but the Italian food and pizzas are a class above. I was eager to be one of the first to dine at the restaurant when they finally opened their doors. I was greeted by the same warm, friendly smiles from this family business as I had before the renovations. The atmosphere is more upscale but just as casual and inviting and appropriate for any occasion. There have been some changes to the menu as well to compliment the change in decor. Service was prompt and attentive. The food is outstanding, both refined and provincial in preparation and flavor.
