Sue's is a great go to family friendly local restaurant! From grabbing a pizza, sitting at the bar for a refreshing cocktail to hosting your next family party, they are terrific to work with! Recently, we went in on a late Wednesday evening and staff was terrific, not making us feel bad about stopping in late. The sausage pizza is one of the best tasting pies around. A little thick than pizza star, but with a great crunch! read more

This has been our families go to spot for great Italian food for generations. The food is always delicious and service is great. They are such a charismatic family. We are happy to have such a great local family to provide us with great food for so many years. Thank you! read more

My first time to Sue's as a local in the neighborhood, I was greeted my Fred with a friendly smile. I was on my lunch break so I ordered to go. Fred suggested the chicken cutlet hero. My order was in quickly, while I enjoyed the Yankee game at the bar on big HD flatscreens. My sandwich was delicious, real cutlet lightly breaded, with very fresh bread. Sue's is a local gem, classy decor, a comfortable environment. read more

Excellent service!! Very friendly. Multiple girls were helping us. The salad was good. I got the chicken picatta which was plenty! There were too many capers in there though and a bit too salty. I'd like to try out their other pasta. The lasagna was quite bland and didn't mesh well. You could taste each ingredient separately. Got a shot at the bar afterwards which was on the house! First night in saugerties! read more

I am giving this review for so many reasons. This is the biggest, little town place i know. I was just overwhelmed with the staff, the service and the empathy the entire team expressed for our family as we gathered for a very late evening grieving a loss. We were about 90 min late to an already later reservation and they welcomed us without a blink of an eye. It might as well have been 5pm. The owner was excited to pump out some Old Fashioned's and even cranked one out for himself in honor of our family member. It was a solemn evening that just watched the frowns turn to smiles hour by hour. I really do attribute a lot of this to the owner and the staff. What we experienced may be more-so for local folk vs the passers-by but if you're local i am highly recommending this place for any occasion. They were rockstars for our family and the food and libations matched. Cheers to Sues - memorable evening for us read more

The eggplant rollatini is the best I've ever had. Service is great, really friendly atmosphere.

I went to Sue's with great expectations after reading the reviews and left with great disappointment. The servers and staff were very friendly but the food was very bland. Husband had chicken parm and left more than half on his plate. I had a very large and very bland calzone. I had less than half. So I don't get the feelings expressed by others. You will get great service and large portions but not much flavor. read more

My husband and I love Sue's! Great people and great food. We love the pizza, app's, entrees and dessert are divine! More years of being delighted with Fred and family. Buon appetito! read more

My favorite neighborhood bar. Fred, John and Amy are the best! Welcoming, friendly, relaxing atmosphere. Beautiful interior. It may get loud at times, but it reminds me of my own loud Italian family! Whenever I come to town I love to visit! On a few occasions I'm sure I outstayed my welcome lol Will be back again and again! read more

Came here on a cold night and got seated right away without waiting. The waitress came quick and settled us. Ordered some calamari and some pizza. The calamari was very crispy, and the pizza tasted amazing! Sue's restaurant seems like a nice place for family gathering or just a place to have a nice lunch/dinner date. Highly recommend as the food did not disappoint and service was great! read more

I called five minutes before I planned to show up with a group of twelve people to celebrate our son's black belt karate achievement. The staff was totally welcoming to our group with a table set before our arrival. The waitress addressed us quickly. Drink orders were taken followed by an order for calamari, wings, anti-pasta and four pies. Everything came out quickly with just enough time between each course. We were very happy with all of the food that was served. Additionally Sue's is well decorated and comfortable. The bar is separated from the tables so there was comfort in knowing neither were bothering the other. We heard their steak is delicious and definitely plan to go back again. Thank you Sue's!!! read more

We went for the first time yesterday,we ordered calamari ,which was so good and a hefty portion. Then my friend ordered eggplant parmesan and I ordered a sausage and pepper roll .Both were outstanding Do yourself a favor and ordered the garlic drizzle on Everything. Then she and I shared a pumpkin cheesecake..yumm. The service was great, its the kind of place that should have a family table.Cant wait to go back.. read more

Fred and the staff are the best always smile on their Faces great time always can always enjoy a special meal from the great Kitchen

Somewhat unpleasant experience characterized by loud patrons mediocre food and slow service. Would not return I'm afraid...two stars was generous. Copious numbers of children and worse. read more

Always have quality food here! My wife and I usually each get a personal pan pie and never leave hungry! I loved the renovations that they had done back in 2012 I felt that it gave them a refreshed clean look! However it was so open from the dinning area into the bar it was hard to hear what was going on and have a conversation! To my delight the last time we went they had built a wall between the two areas and it was such a better atmosphere! My favorite part of the dining experience is the owner is always out conversing with his customers and always makes it a point to come up to every table ! read more

Disgusting food. My husband and I both ordered entrees that came with salad and bread and also a soup. The red sauce they use tasted so bad that I wanted to send mine back, something I've never done, however our waitress could not be found. The red sauce actually tasted like metal and was definitely the worst I've ever eaten including Ragu. Also, our meals was clearly microwaved and the cheese on my plate had congealed in a gross fashion. The french onion soup I got was also the worst I've ever had- including from mediocre diners. The salads were also absolutely terrible as was the bread. I am in shock that this place is so highly rated. Our area has amazing restaurants so there is no reason to go here to eat. If you're looking for amazing pizza- go to Giordanos or maybe Slices. For amazing Italian restaurants, go to Savona's in Kingston or La Conco D'ora in Catskill. This place is a bust. read more

Can't complain about the food quality or service, but got charged $5 for a side skewer of shrimp with 3 very small shrimp on it. Never again! read more

Went in this evening for dinner around 6:30pm. Three people at the bar and two booths of customers. Stood there 5- 10 minutes and a waitress passed us by , no "Hello" and said I'll be with you in a minute. One waitress behind register says nothing and walks away. Continued to wait so we walked out. This was our third and last visit to this restaurant, always the same type of greeting and you wait forever. Food has never been that great so keep driving and go to the 9w diner instead it was great! read more

Sue's was delicious! I went with a small group so I was able to try a whole bunch of the menu. We had some scrumptious flat-bread pizza (with mozzarella, tomato and drizzled with balsamic) and calamari to kick things off along with some antipasto and stromboli.. which were all fantastic. I almost ruined my appetite because I couldn't stop noshing on all of it and soaking up that balsamic with bread. thankfully, almost only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades, so I was safe to keep on eating. entrees around the table were fantastic too. i had eggplant parmesan which was as good as any i've had. and i've had a lot. there was a chicken marsala and another flat-bread pizza. one of our party had a dish specially prepared by the chef that wasn't on the menu; rigatoni pasta with anchovies and garlic. i sneaked a bunch of forks full - and it just made my mouth water a little thinking about it. note to all: if you have a craving and don't see anything of the sort on the menu, don't hesitate to ask, as they can probably hook you up. the service is very friendly at sue's. it is a family run, fun place to eat. i will be going back - more than once. read more

Delicious!!! The penne vodka is so great. And the garlic knot! Hosts are nice. Wine is great. Fred is so nice.

Great place to eat. Would have gave it more stars but can't excuse the fact that I asked for Tabasco and they gave me wing sauce. Rule of thumb: if you serve clams and calamari, you must carry Tabasco. Bye just curious.... What if I wanted a Bloody Mary? read more

Sues Restaurant - two containers of sauce on a table - Italian Near Me - Saugerties, New York

This is a strong, solid 3 and more like a 3.5. It's a bar/restaurant, neighborhood place. I went on a crowded Saturday night, so it was loud and active. Quiet dining was not going to happen, not the type of place for romance and soft talking. Friendly staff and me and my colleague had good meals -- lasagne, good sized dish and a pepperoni Stromboli doused with fresh garlic. We stayed long after our meal to chat and since the place had thinned out, we weren't pushed to leave. If you're in the area, give it a try. Nice, casual and I bet a menu where everything is good. read more

Went there for a drink. Warm decor and really nice bartender, he gave us some great local recommendations. Would love to return for dinner!

Really don't understand why locals like this place. I tried their pizza once here and it probably the worst pizza I've ever had in my life. My husband went back here a couple weeks ago because a friend loves it there and it hasn't gotten any better. read more

Awesome food! Portions were large enough for two meals, food was hot and tasty! Server was knowledgable and helpful. Food was served in quick time! We shared an order of their garlic knots (yummy and oh so garlicy), Hubby had the sausage and pepper parmesan sub, I had Nonna's garlic and oil Penne with broccoli and crispy chicken with a small tasty salad (delicious)! The menu was priced from 7.99 to 20.00$ a steal for such great food. One large sandwich, one meal with salad, one appetizer and one Large Margarita all for $38.00! read more

While the service was good, the food was mediocre at best. The chicken I ordered appeared to have been microwaved. The salad was not fresh at all, and was made up of canned olives and iceberg lettuce. The most disappointing, however, was the house wine I ordered which was one of the worst and most vinegary glasses of wine I have ever had. Needless to say, this is one restaurant I will not be returning to. read more

This is a review for just one meal, their margarita pizza, which was so disgusting, we couldn't eat it. It had teaspoon-sized piles of jarred garlic all over the surface and four sad pale tomato slices (even though it was still tomato season!) In all fairness, the interior of the restaurant looked comfortable/ family friendly and the staff seemed nice. Maybe we just ordered the wrong item, but it was so bad, we will never go again. read more

We tried to go here, but the whole experience was bad. We got there a little after 5, thinking that would give us plenty of time before the 7pm show we we're going to in Woodstock. Wrong. We wait until 6:30 when we still had no food we asked to talk to the Manager. He was apologetic and gave us our meal to go for free. But unfortunately it was too late. Our whole evening was ruined because of this. read more

Friendly staff, low quality food ingredients. The tomato sauce is not good, and the salad had such low quality cold cuts, cheese, etc., with hardly any green stuff, I could not eat it. This place is popular with some locals, and is clean with comfortable seating. read more

Food is first-rate Italian-family fare, and this is just about the friendliest place I've ever been to.

A wonderful FAMILY restaurant! Run by a great family and ready to serve yours... Classic Italian food and awesome pizza. Order thin and crispy with whatever you want. This place is meant to have a casual and local experience. We have enjoyed it for over ten years and are sure real locals can attest to many more. It can get crowded on weekends so consider booking for a large group. They renovated tastefully in 2012. read more

I LOVEEEEE Sue's! I have been going to Sues since I was about 7-8 years old...almost 30 years! Fred and Marie are amazing people and have some of the best food I have ever had! I love that, even though they remodeled and have a larger staff, you still know where to find Marie...in the kitchen! Her meatballs are out of this world and the house dressing...OMG! I have been telling her for years to bottle it and sell it! You will not be disappointed if you come here! *Get the chef salad with the house dressing YUM! read more

Casual Italian Dining, had a very nice pasta with white claim sauce. Very reasonable prices. I recommend it!

Stopped by here for lunch last week. The service wasn't the greatest, but the food is quite good. Their bruschetta is awesome! The drinks were great. I know a lot of people who frequent this place. I want to come back for dinner, I have heard great things about their pasta dishes. Overall I was happy with my meal! read more

First let me start with the food the very good. The service was horrendous, the waitress brought us the bill which was the wrong one so we waited for her to come back. After about 20 minutes we finally got the manager to help cause the waitress just kept talking to her friends or regulars and didn't pay attention at all he came back with wrong bill even after about 5 minutes then we finally got our correct bill from the waitress. As we were leaving all the manager asked was did you finally get everything squared up and didn't care that we waited so long just to pay a bill and told him we wouldn't be back he was just as useless as the waitress and didn't seem to care cause we weren't regulars there. read more

Wonderful atmosphere for the family or a couples night out. Delicious food with hometown touch.

This newly renovated restaurant not only has an inviting, friendly atmosphere filled with old world charm but the Italian food and pizzas are a class above. I was eager to be one of the first to dine at the restaurant when they finally opened their doors. I was greeted by the same warm, friendly smiles from this family business as I had before the renovations. The atmosphere is more upscale but just as casual and inviting and appropriate for any occasion. There have been some changes to the menu as well to compliment the change in decor. Service was prompt and attentive. The food is outstanding, both refined and provincial in preparation and flavor. I highly recommend Sue's Restaurant for anyone with taste...buds and a desire to be in an environment where you are treated like family. read more
