    Lobster pasta
    Bailey H.

We had a fantastic experience at Hooked Kitchen in Latham. With a table of 11, the clear crowd favorite was the fish and chips--hands down the most ordered dish of the night. We kicked things off by sharing a variety of appetizers, including the Rhode Island calamari, crab arancini, and oysters. The crab arancini stole the show, smothered in a bold, spicy romesco sauce that really delivered some heat. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and I loved the unexpected pop of cherry peppers in the calamari. I did wish I had gone with a lobster roll instead of the lobster pasta--the pasta could have used a bit more sauce, and I was slightly puzzled by the addition of hazelnuts. That said, it wouldn't stop me from coming back. Everything tasted fresh, was beautifully plated, and clearly made with care. I'm already looking forward to trying more on the menu next time.

Burrata salad, more toast than salad

I had been wanting to try this place for awhile. We arrived on a Tuesday night and found the parking lot completely packed; however we were able to get a table after just waiting a few moments. Best things here were the oysters and the crab cakes IMO. The burrata salad came with a weird peppery toast that was just overly peppery and the plate was more toast than salad. My fiancé ordered the paella which was more like a soup or stew- I've never seen a paella this watery. It tasted okay but they really need to work on this or just rename it and call it a stew. It was literally served in a bowl not a paella pan: so weird. Service was okay and bathrooms are clean. I might come back for the oysters and drinks at the bar but not sure I'll be back for dinner here.

Hooked is by far the best seafood restaurant in the capital district. The oysters are always clean, cold and perfectly shucked. It is so impressive to watch the staff shuck, and the way they present them, it's like food art The fish sandwich with wasabi mayo was so crispy and those fries, I'd pay a lot of money just for the fries.

I had a lunch meeting here after wanting to visit and try the food forever! It is very cute and clean inside. The sell fresh seafood at the counter as well as serving lunch and dinner. Our waitress was kind and accommodating. I got the katsu fish sandwich was fresh salad greens. This was pretty good. I especially liked the wasabi mayo. The fish itself was pretty bland though. I thought the batter needed to be seasoned properly. I was told that the crab cake sandwich with remoulade which was the special for the day was delicious! It was overall a really nice experience and I would go back again to try more of the menu items!

We had a truly awesome visit last night, not sure what has kept us away this whole time! It's a casual set up inside the restaurant/market with tables and bar seats. We were a group of 4 and it was busy, but we sat down right away. We didn't order alcoholic drinks, but it looked like they had a full bar with some nice beer on tap. We ordered fish and chips and whole belly clams. The clams were absolutely perfect and since they are hard to find around here, they were even more of a treat! The fish and chips was a large portion, nice and crisp. Plus the sauces were all delicious. Can't wait to visit again.

Updated review! If you love seafood, you need to be a regular at Hooked Market & Kitchen. This NYE menu blew me away. Complimentary champagne and lobster bisque to start, hell yeah. The lobster bisque was a perfect tasting to start a celebratory seafood dinner, exploding with lobster flavor. Followed by a dozen of the BEST oysters you can get around here. They use a smaller distributor so these are much better than a lot of other places offer, but sorry, no $1 oysters here. These are best of the best. Next was that duck egg yolk raviolini. Wow. I had to try it from reading the description. Duck egg, ricotta, charred lemon, house made pasta, black truffle. My first bite sent me TO THE MOON. The flavor was incredible. This was excellently executed, the quality of the ingredients sung in unison and made me do a happy dance. I had only see yolk raviolo on Master Chef, and I'm not even a fan of eggs, but I knew it was a culinary delicacy and they nailed it. Lobster pasta was the main for both me and my sister. House made lemon pasta, a good portion of lobster, veggies, cream sauce. The pasta was perfect, aldente, zesty, and exceeded my expectations, it already sounded incredible, but again, it was perfectly executed. And the portion was huge with a ton of claw meat. I'm sure I'll be digging back in those left overs shortly. More drinks and a slice of the opera cake finished the meal off perfectly. I am not big on sweets but the brûlée marshmallow took it to another level. The service is also just amazing here everytime, you can tell everyone loves being there. 10/10, every time. I come here every year on my birthday for dozens of oysters and fries and beers. It's one of my favorite places, and it should be yours too.

This place never disappoints-haven't had anything that I did not like on the menu. Definitely don't skip the crab cakes or tuna tataki for apps. Halibut (with saffron risotto? Say less!), swordfish, lobster roll, poke bowl, fish and chips are solid entree choices. Desert- pistachio knafeh- 10/10. And the Dubai chocolate? chef's kiss for sure. Service is always great (special shout out to Ashley!) It's casual which is my vibe. I'm not much of a drinker but absolutely love the Jalarito here!

Recently, I was one of six invited to a birthday dinner at Hooked. One person was served "bad scallops!" That was what they were called. How does this happen in a place that specializes in seafood??? Meal was taken away, and that one meal was "refunded" with a gift certificate. Gift certificate? Not a fair comp in our opinion. The other meals were okay, but momentum for a good time was somewhat dampened --understandably.

The fish in the fish and chips was perfectly cooked with a delicious batter. And the raw oysters were delicious as well.

I am offically "Hooked." SO and I decided to try Hooked for lunch. Parking lot was packed, so obviously it has a lunch draw. Menu has a lot to offer. Plus, there are options for the landlubber in the group. Being so far inland, I appreciate being able to get fresh seafood. I was cautiously optimistic when I ordered the warm lobster roll. (Had read comments which were less than glowing.) Either I had caught the cook on a good day or previous patron had a gotten food on a bad day. Lobster (and a lot of it) was warm and sufficiently buttered. Roll was pleasantly toasted giving that nice crunchy bite with the lobster. Hard to mess up lobster, but I'm sure it can be done. Accompanied French fries were crispy outside and soft and tender inside. There was an option for for a different side, but I went the carb route. My meal was filling, tasty and well put together. Would I get it again? Yes. Most definitely. Are there other seafood options for next time, yes. Will I come back? Sure. SO ordered the fish tacos. Fish was blackened and properly so with appropriate spices. It was a good surprise all around. Our wait staff was attentive and quick to get us our lunch. It's a pleasant atmosphere, with a raw bar and a drink bar available. There is a freezer section available with soups and fish you can get to go.

This seafood restaurant is easy to miss when driving down in lovely traffic on troy schdy road but it deserves a visit. If you plan on happy hour be prepared bar seats fill up the moment doors open. There are many fresh and frozen seafood options, cheeses, sauces and soups you can take away from the coolers and raw bar. The wine list is fair and I always find a bright white to pair with my oysters. This picture is from a birthday dinner September 2024. Service was wonderful, properly coursed and attentive. All of the seafood dishes we shared were fresh and we'll presented. This is one of my favs for raw oysters too.

Fish tacos and an IPA at the bar.

I stopped in tonight for the first time. I sat at the bar so I didn't have to wait. It was pretty slammed when I walked in. Victoria served me at the bar. She was very nice and took care of everyone there even though they were super busy. I ordered the fish tacos and an IPA and they were really good. Thanks!

Since we were in Saratoga we decided to check out their new location and bring something home to cook for dinner. There was a lot of fresh fish to choose from and we narrowed it down to either halibut or sea bass. I decided on the sea bass because we've never cooked it at home before. It was about $35/lb., which is a fair price. My wife prepared it with some white wine, butter and shallots and it was absolutely delicious. The fish was so fresh and tasty.

They're "Korean style," which means they're served with kimchi. Normally, I substitute a salad for the taco shells since I'm diabetic but this time they were out of greens.
