We've been to few different crab boil restaurants over the last couple of years. This one was really good! The woman who greets and seats you seems to wear many hats. She provides menus and gives very good suggestions for selections, sauces and heat. Even on the mild heat, there is still plenty of flavor and heat. I had the cajun butter & garlic on mild heat. It was really good. You can either pick your own contents for the boil (eg. clams, asst. crabs, shrimp, sausage) to go with your boiled potatoes and corn. The woman of many hats had a more effective method for eating my crab claws than the method I was using. She proceeded to direct me, step by step, to the method to obtain the most delicious meat from the claws. She was right on target, of course and I enjoyed every. morsel. We all enjoyed every morsel. The last the service was horrible. We were treated like how they treat people of color hurry up and buy type behavior we were giving a 2 hour limit of time to enjoy our meal. When I asked other customers were they told the same thing they advised me. No, I then tried to speak to the waitress about all these rules that they have for the crab bucket for all you can eat buffet. She gave me a one down of all these rules, and then as we were done with our meal, she came to the table and start pulling out the shales from the bucket, where we discarded our crabs, checking the see if there were meats still in them. At the table, she was so belligerent, and so rude. I'm like, are you serious? Are you really doing this in front on the table? Like she was so so rude, so horribly rude, I would never go back there again, and then they have an automated that you have to give them 18% gratuity for that type of service. It's unbelievable I was so disgusted, never again. Would I visit this place? And then when the seafood came out, the crabs tasted and looked like they were drenched in water not stained, you couldn't pop them. Clean all the meat was like stuck in the crab leg. I love seafood boil so I decided to try the Mighty Crab. It's located near the Target Plaza. The food was a bit pricy but I really wanted some seafood so we decided to go and dig in. We requested the booth which was spacious. The decor was cute and reminded me of some of seafood restaurants from the 70's near the beach with the fishnet and other items you may find at a dock or seaport. The service was efficient and prompt. I started with a peach martini and sweet potato fries. I ordered my main course, the snow crab boil, a potato and corn. For the second step, I ordered the garlic butter and Cajun sauces for my boil. For the Third step I ordered the spicy level to be medium. The boil was good but a bit salty. They didn't need as much salt in the boil it took away from the other flavors. The garlic butter and Cajun seasoning were quite good on their own. They were skimpy on the vegetables the boil only had 1 corn and two potatoes. If you wanted additional corn or potatoes you had to pay for them. I wish that I could use a half star in the ratings, but unfortunately I can't. Anyway on a whim, we decided to give the Mighty Crab a try and were pleasantly surprised. It took a few minutes to determine how to order and what sounded good. I went with snow crab & clams, my wife did the snow crab & black muscles. We both selected the garlic butter mild. We agreed that the flavor was almost perfect and we weren't disappointed in our order. Like another reviewer noted, they don't have the small forks that are needed to dig into crab properly so we had to "MacGyver" our way through the crab. Our waitress was good at helping us figure out the menu, but once dinner arrived, it was difficult to get her attention when my drink ran out. She wrote her name on the table but it seemed she had trouble hearing it when called. Overall I'd give the waitress an 8 out of 10. Overall, we enjoyed the food and the experience. I'm always on the lookout for seafood restaurants and The Mighty Crab caught my eye. Knowing that, The Mighty Crab is a Louisiana style seafood restaurant that I was excited to try. Taking this into account, I ordered the fried shrimp basket and fried pickles. First, I tried the fried shrimp and it was very tasty. To explain, the breading was flavorful and seasoned. Also, the shrimp tasted fresh and was very tender. After that, I sampled the waffle fries which were solid. The fries were crispy and seasoned nicely. Finally, I turned my attention to the fried pickles which were delicious. To elaborate, the fried pickles were flavorful, crispy, and light. In addition, the dipping sauce paired perfectly with the fried pickles. In summation, The Mighty Crab is a really solid Louisiana style seafood restaurant and I hope to be back. read more

I had ordered the Mighty crab samples threw Uber Eats. I was pretty excited because I haven't had seafood in a while. Tell me why I'm digging in to the card and go to take a bike of some fish and as soon as I bite down I can feel something irregular in the fish with my tongue and teeth but I continued to pulled the fish away and looked there's a parasite worm looking thing dangling from the pice of fish in my hand I don't have any pictures because as soon as I saw it, I threw everything away in immediately vomited everything up and completely lost my appetite. Seafood lovers are invited to a new boil shack in Latham. (Old Ruby Tuesday's) If you do not like seafood, it may not be for you. There are multiple sauces or get the combo of all of them called "MIGHTY SAUCE". It may be me, but I thought it was a tad salty. Ordered Combo B which included 1/2 lb each of snow crab, shrimp and sausage (cut up slices) with 2 potatoes, 2 hard boiled eggs, and for those who want veggys at every meal there is a piece of corn and a sprig of broccoli. Additional seafood items can be added for a nominal fee. Bibs and gloves are available. Good parking. Attentive staff. Pleasant atmosphere. Fish hanging around. Bad? Yes, my only complaint, and its not just this venue. Crab require slim picking forks to get every last bit of crab from the tiny areas of the lovely legs. We checked out this restaurant on a whim. We happened to be nearby and it looked interesting. The restaurant itself was clean and we were seated right away. The menu was huge, with various seafood boils and fried baskets. We started off with Gator Bites and the Raw Oysters. The bites were your typical fried fare and was a lot like a popcorn chicken. It came with a dipping sauce that may have been a remoulade....but I couldn't be sure. The oysters were bland. They had no flavor at all. Even the lemon, horseradish, and cocktail sauce couldn't help them. I stopped eating them after having two. Our entrees came fairly promptly and we prepared to dig in. My Po' Boy was big and I realized I'd need to cut it in half. Only problem is that we did not have any knives, or salt, or ketchup for that matter. We waited for our server to swing by, but to no avail. Finally, I asked a different server if we could get the required items and he happily obliged. The Cajun fries were really good and had a nice flavor a crispness. The regular fries required a ton of seasoning and had no flavor at all. The breading on the fried shrimp lacked crispness and was borderline mushy. My son hated it, so I ordered him some corn on the cob. That arrived swimming in a bowl of butter. Said butter was so hot that when the corn accidentally fell into it the splash of it was bad enough for my son to go to the bathroom to run cold water over his hand. The oyster Po Boy looked slapped together and the sauce overpowered the flavor of the oysters. My husband said that his Tilapia had no flavor and the soft shell crab my oldest had an overwhelming fish smell and did not taste great. The prices were not cheap, and we expected better quality given the cost. We all left there feeling like we had a lead weight in our stomachs, and decided we would not be returning. read more

I was on the lookout for a good meal this president's day and I noticed one restaurant that has been here for a while called The Mighty Crab. I selected pickup and since I did with seafood, ordered it foiled, as I do with my pasta dishes as well. It just holds the heat and freshness better. This time I went for the seafood combo with scallops and clams (1/2 pound each), with clam chowder. It included 2 small potatoes and a half ear of corn and an unsweetened sweet tea. Total was around $48, yes Grubhub did charge around $10. As my father used to say, nothing's free! The meal was tasty, with the seafood nice and tender, with an abundance of garlic butter, which I love. Having said that I felt the boil took away some of the flavor, even the garlic butter as well. The two small potatoes were good, though it's hard for a boil to wreck a potato. The corn took a beating but was still fresh albeit soggy from the extreme boil. The clam chowder came in a 12 oz container with about a cup of clam chowder (8 ounces ) and a package of oyster crackers. The spice and flavor in the chowder was really good, impressive actually, but lacked the consistency of a great clam chowder, thick with meaty clams and potatoes. It certainly wasn't worth $7.95 their price, not Grubhub's. Maybe if they filled it up all the way say 12 oz? The unsweetened tea was ok, little more tea flavor and lemon please. It was a good meal all in all, customer service was ok. The ambiance was casual and was nice. The meal came with a bib, wipes, little plastic gloves, utensils, salt and pepper. Also included were three small potatoes, a half ear of corn and a small container of side sauce I couldn't identify. I paid $58.32. One of the crab legs had no meat in it. None. I am not sure how that is even possible. The lobster tail was a decent size but I couldn't taste the meat over the sauce. Same thing with what little meat I found in the other crab legs. The sauce was too spicy, and I did not like it one bit. The hushpuppies were the size of quarters. It was all extremely greasy and for the price very disappointing. Hard pass. read more

We were in the mood for raw oysters and unfortunately due to the bad weather they were unable to get them in. We settled for the steamed oysters, I was not a fan but my boyfriend really liked them. Amy was very helpful with our boil selection, we chose 1/2 lb shrimp, 1/2 lb crab, and 1/2 lb sausage with corn potatoes and egg for 30.00, he added 1/2 lb crawfish 8.00. We were so excited to try this place and I'm so happy that we made it there for my mom's birthday dinner. The restaurant has a fun decor that is very committed to the the seafood theme and my parents absolutely loved it. Our server Amaree, was super sweet and took great care of us. The mighty crab is closer to my house so i figured I'd give it a try and ordered takeout. -the prices are decent as I do I appreciate that you can create your own combo and get half a pound instead of the whole. - the flavor was just not it. Like i got the mighty special which has all the flavors and it just tasted like there was no flavor but hints of lemon. - the fishes itself were very fresh and that I did appreciate. We visit the Mighty Crab at this location once a month. If you love seafood boils this is the spot. Boils come in a large airtight bag full of your favorite seafood along with corn and red potatoes. I love seafood but am VERY picky and usually a restaurant snob. I was initially skeptical but blown away by the delicious freshness of the seafood.
