So excited that I found this place. Back in Pittsburgh we have HUGE fish fry Friday's! Every corner every church. I was surprised to not find anything in upstate New York. Then I found this place. I got the fish fry dinner which was SUPPOSED to come w fries and coleslaw. However, when I got home ... no coleslaw which I was super excited to try bc it looked amazing. The fish was perfectly fried and breaded and I got onions rings instead and they were HUGE and delicious. I will def be back!!! I just wish they had lettuce, tomato and onion to go with the fish.

Very clean, well organized with a logical flow. Pleasant and helpful and well educated staff. Expensive but quality. They have a few tables outside if you want some raw oysters or clams they'll shuck for you.(it's also next to a beer store). And they do cook on Fridays! There are some unique items like frog legs and gator. Current selection of Salmon comes from Fyords not net raised.

I first visited this place when first opened many years ago. Today I revisited and was amazed what this family has done with this hidden gem. It's one of these places you don't always notice. I had the fried clam strips at $7.99, added some cole slaw and moms homemade clam chowder. Everything was fantastic, without a doubt the clam strips were the largest I have ever had. This place has come a long way since it's start over 12-15 years ago. Everything is fresh and homemade. You owe it to yourself to try it. I can't wait to return and get a haddock fish fry!

This is the best fish market in the capital district currently. They have the widest selection, and even hard to find fish from time to time. They have had barracuda, and skate among many others. These guys know their fish. They can cook it for you, and it will be great, but you are better off taking their advice on how to cook it yourself. Do not deny yourself the pleasure of cooking a nice piece of black bass, char, or halibut. The fish is brought in regularly and cleaned and filleted on premise. Also try their salads and to go soups to go. They are made from top ingredients and mostly are quite healthy instead of the usually heavy stuff everyone else does. I come here about twice a week, and have done so since they have opened. The prices are fair albeit higher than supermarkets. You also get unparalleled quality for your dollar. You can tell when you cook. The fish does not fall apart like ones that have been frozen many times over. These guys know fish and food, and I wish them the best. They also have offerings from Chester's smokehouse. I have not had much from this selection, but the pierogies are very nice. I recommend the corn beef, but that is a personal preference.

Abosolutely wonderful place! It's been a long time since I've had such a pleasant encounter such as this one. The people were so friendly and helpful, I definitely will be coming back!

A freshly made tray of seafood lasagna (I think).

Their cod is delicious and fresh - my family always comments on how fresh the fish tastes compared to that from the local grocery store.

I'm out of superlatives for Hooked, but since it had been a while since we had been, I thought it…read morewise to update my review. This is a haute cuisine place that is masked by the casual dining atmosphere. Seriously: top notch chef, original recipes, a core dedication to quality seafood, paired with a fresh fish counter and some prepared food to go. We usually go for something special, but tonight I decided to get an old childhood standby, fried clams (the Boston Basket) and the fish burger sandwich. I did not expect either to be as transportive as they turned out to be. The fried clams were as delicately done as I've ever had: not crispy, but not too floppy, with excellent breading. And while I prefer my clams naked, we tried all three of the dipping sauces -- a remoulade, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce. Now normally I loathe cocktail sauce and can take tartar sauce or leave it, so I figured we'd eat up the remoulade and ignore the other two. Still, I gave them little nibbles. Man! The cocktail sauce was like no other I've had, with a heavy hint of horseradish and a far fresher flavor than I've ever had. Then the tartar sauce -- genius! It had a delicate spicing, with capers providing a floral backdrop. That was only a preliminary, as the fish burger proved to be complex, with hints of multiple kinds of fish, and a fennel-based spicing. I ended up having that afterglow, as if I'd had a couple of cocktails and was sitting next to a fireplace, that is the hallmark of truly fine food at an advanced level. We also had the usual outstanding service, attentive without being pushy. I seriously think Hooked should consider splitting into two restaurants: one where the ambiance is upgraded to match the high caliber of the food, and another cheaper one that is strictly fast casual and takeout, and they'd more than double the business. There is a restaurant back where we come from in California, Turtle Bay, that did this with fine dining on one side and the quick, simple, and affordable food on the other side, with a big shared kitchen between them but with completely separate ambiances. That way I could come back more frequently, and still have the original Hooked for special occasions!

I finally decided to give Hooked a try after hearing many great things about their lobster roll…read more With that said, I'm glad I did because the food was delicious. To explain, I ordered the cold lobster roll with fries and it was great. First off, the lobster was tender, incredibly fresh, and they loaded the roll with it. Likewise, the roll was perfect. It was airy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. My only issue with the lobster roll was that it needed more mayonnaise. In the same manner, the fries were phenomenal. To make plain, the fries were scorching hot and seasoned to perfection. Also, they had a crispy exterior with a fluffy interior. These were simply great fries. Essentially, Hooked offers great lobster rolls and fries.

I decided last minute that I was going to take home a bunch of shucked oysters with my tuna. Score! They shucked them right there (you also have the option to take them home and do it yourself). The oysters were delicious-even though they forgot one. I was sad. Honest mistake, I guess. The ahi tuna was great-I made it in 2 different ways-tartare with spicy mayo and seared. Delicious. Really fresh seafood and I like the new (ish) location. Very spacious with a counter for coffee and takeout. I spied beer taps and there might be plans for getting those up and running at some point. Plus, there's a kitchen in the back...so stay tuned.

Moby Rick's kitchen is not ready yet so they don't have the ability to prepare any of the fish at this location. They are hoping to have the kitchen completed by Summer. For cooked fish you'll currently have to go to their Clifton Park location (which currently is only providing takeout during the COVID-19 restrictions). Since we were in Saratoga we decided to check out their new location and bring something home to cook for dinner. There was a lot of fresh fish to choose from and we narrowed it down to either halibut or sea bass. I decided on the sea bass because we've never cooked it at home before. It was about $35/lb., which is a fair price. My wife prepared it with some white wine, butter and shallots and it was absolutely delicious. The fish was so fresh and tasty.
