Great subs. Always happy when we get steaks or subs at LaPosta Brothers Market. They are friendly and cut all products to order.

I can not say enough good things about the people at Reliable Bros. and the quality of their meat…read moreproducts. We had a neighbor that has been buying a few items like shrimp and sausage long before the pandemic hit. When it became difficult or unwise to shop for meat in the grocery store during the pandemic we ordered several times from Reliable Bros. At the time we thought it was a stop gap measure until things settled down. The first time that we ordered changed our minds completely. The experience was amazing, they took our order over the phone, they described any item that we asked about, they offered suggestions and options when some meats were only sold in large volume. Then we tried the meat. Everything was amazing. The next time that we ordered we placed an order for almost $1,000 for ourselves and a few family and friends. Again the process was amazing, everything was packaged and ready when they said it would be. They cut whole pieces to order exactly has discussed. There wasn't a single thing that we ordered that wasn't of superior quality, yet very reasonably priced. The prime strip steaks were perfect and this was after we had frozen them which we never have done pre pandemic. The corned beef...nothing short of amazing. Easily the best corned beef we have ever had and we eat quite a bit of corned beef. The chicken was great, the pork chops and pork tenderloin were far better than any I have purchased at Price Chopper. The most important thing is the quality of what we eat and this more than checked that box. If you want prime meat cut or packaged exactly as you want at a price far less expensive than the grocery store and sold by nice, knowledgeable people give them a call. You won't be disappointed!

My farmers are my friends, and I am not at all some invisible number amidst their fairly full & growing CSA. As members, we don't just receive weekly shares in a place where we know the farmers and know where & how our (safe, healthy, organic) food is grown, but we have access to -- my favorite -- the picking garden. Each week of the entire growing season, we are invited and encouraged to walk through the picking garden, making a flower bouquet to take home, and cutting the herbs we'd need in the coming week. You know how people join places like Berkshire Botanical Gardens? Walking through the picking garden, gathering peace in the sunshine is that. And it's a kind of home, a kind of deep connection to where our food comes from and to the people who work on the land to cooperate with the earth and, in much sweat, bring the goodness to us. I have multiple health problems - stressful chronic health needs that are deeply met by fresh organic food. I can't eat processed food at all. I know I need vegetables constantly. I want to support my local farmers. A CSA makes sense. And these farmers support ME in healthy community -- you've gotta hear about the potlucks! Learning about bread-making from a local author was February and I'm still super-excited! -- and healthy community, by every health and longevity study, is THE factor to be rich in. You'll be exposed to poetry too.

Hot. Beef. Sandwich…read more It's hard to think of five bucks better spent. Usually, that sandwich is made of their famous corned beef or pastrami. How famous is their pastrami? Well, it's what they use at Katz's in NYC. Except at Katz's they apparently boil the pastrami before serving it so it totally falls apart. That's what I learned from the passionate fellow behind the counter today. Well, that, and they had no pastrami prepared for sandwiches. Well, I'll just have to come back. For years I've been told of the legend of this place. The place where Old World Provisions meats are sliced and served on bread for a pittance. A manufacturing facility where there is a small retail operation that's open to the public. Helmbold Fritz is like a beacon on a hill. Well, it's on a hill at least. It's a bit tucked away in the warehouse district around the corner from the Franklin Ballroom. And when you pull into the driveway, you have to go around back to get to the front door. It's almost as if they don't want you there. But they totally want you there. Kinda. When I called to ask if they were open for lunch, the response was, "Lunch? We open at 11." I'm unclear if the wooden picnic table around the back of the deli was actually meant for visitors of if its for employees, but we decided to stick around and eat there instead of having a car picnic. It was a glorious day. Part of me is a bit worried about coming back here for pastrami. Because if it's half as good as I suspect it will be, it might be hard to keep me away. That fifth star is being reserved until I try their signature products. But I promise to report back.
