What a really nice restaurant in the middle of beautiful Round Lake village! I visited on a Saturday night and our party of four made reservations several days before. When we got there, we were greeted by the hostess and sat immediately. They had a special menu of your choice of two salads and one of several entrees for $29.95 in addition to their regular menu. I opted for the Hanger Steak Chimichurri, which is on their regular menu, and is grilled hanger steak that's topped with a poblano chimichurri sauce. I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. The chimichurri sauce was divine! It was a delicious dish. They have a small bar and parking lot out in front. Overall, it's a great spot if you want good food, great service and a nice atmosphere. read more

Lake Ridge has always had such promise and has always disappointed. The ambiance is quaint and very clean. Staff is friendly, helpful and attentive without being over bearing and we never felt rushed. It's the kind of restaurant that you wouldn't mind paying premium prices, if the food were good. First the good - the green beans were perfectly cooked and seasoned and were the bright green color that makes them look as good as they taste. Awesome. Now the not so good - the Caesar salad was covered in a watery Italian dressing that didn't taste like Caesar dressing or much of anything. The mashed potatoes were not quite room temperature, the steak was barely so and both were painfully over salted. It was hard to tell what other seasoning, if any was used. I'm hoping this was just an off night, but it's a lot of money to spend to find out. read more

It was evident that the kitchen was running behind when our waiter almost walked away after taking our appetizer order. He was struggling to keep up with the 4 tables in the room. Never thought of this combo but they complemented each other so well. Pork edges were perfectly crispy but the center was tender. Lightly sweetened like maple bacon. Main: pecan crusted pork chop: 10/10, the sauce was slightly sweet and the pork was well cooked. man take me back there just for the pork! Veal and crab: 3/10. disappointed. First bite was promising until the acidic aftertaste of the sauce set in and then only got stronger with each bite. The flavor of the crab was wonderful, very fresh. Once again we decided to rely upon Lake Ridge to celebrate an occasion and once again we chose to do takeout. My wife is just not ready yet for a sit down experience at any restaurant. For the month of October they are including an Oktoberfest menu. From this menu we ordered the Sauerbraten ($28.95), the Schweine Tenderloin ($27.95) and a side of Potato Pancake ($10.95). We also ordered from their regular menu a Chopped Salad ($9.95) and a House Salad ($7.95). The House Salad is a nice mix of baby greens, mixed with red leaf lettuce and arugula, cherry tomatoes, radishes, and cucumbers. My wife chose a vinaigrette as her dressing. My Chopped Salad was billed as having candied espresso walnut and dried cranberries along with avocado, baby iceberg, Belgian endive, radicchio, red onion and tomatoes. I did find one dried cranberry, but I couldn't find a single walnut. I will say that the garlic sesame vinaigrette was very tasty. I didn't expect the Potato Pancake to be like my Mom used to make, and it wasn't. The shredded potato was golden crispy on the outside with a soft interior. While it did not have much potato flavor, the accompanying maple chive sour cream made this a nice blend of textures and flavors. My wife's Sauerbraten was flavorful, marinated and slow braised slices of beef, but the gingersnap gravy did not have the expected flavor of gingersnaps that she was expecting. My marinated and grilled sliced pork tenderloin was tender, flavorful and cooked perfectly with just a little pink remaining. The honey apple bourbon cream sauce was excellent. Both of our dishes were served with mashed potatoes and shredded purple cabbage. Overall, the meals were very good with just a couple minor disappointments. The meals were ready on time and the front of the house staff were friendly and pleasant. Someday it will be nice to return for a relaxing meal indoors. read more

Counting down the time till we go back! Family has been telling us about this place for years and we have driven by it 100x. We finally made a point to go to celebrate some birthdays and it was everything they had bragged about and more. Make sure you make a reservation! Of course you are paying for the experience and the fabulous dishes but you will not be disappointed! When you walk in it smells delicious and feels like you are walking into someone's living room. The whole space is warm and cozy. The staff was friendly and professional during the entire experience but the cocktails and dishes are the real stars here. The drink list is extensive and each cocktail we got was great. Literally something for everyone: between margaritas all different whiskeys. Our group started with (THE famous) Lobster Betty, the soup of the day (shrimp, curry, corn chowder) and the scallops. The Lobster Betty was on a bed of greens with the most flavorful shallots/swish chard/butter sauce. It's worth not sharing with anyone else! Each of our dinners where delicious and unique. Always wait to hear the specials because they seemed like a hit! I had the goat cheese fig crusted salmon and it was so good. I appreciate when the sides are made with just as much care as the main piece of the the entree. The rice, potatoes and asparagus where perfectly done as well. Now normally I don't dive into dessert because I would rather eat all different dishes, but we got three different desserts for the table and they were fabulous. The key lime pie was one of the bests I've ever had. It felt like it was from the islands the limes were so fresh and not sweet at all! We can not wait to go back! read more

My friends and I would have an amazing lunch after the antique and craft festivals. I always order salmon-crab cakes. This site received multiple awards for its meals and fine dining. The simple building hides the beautiful decor and stunning all Mahogany bar. My 2 sons. daughters-in-law and 7-year-old twins treated me to a special Mother's Day Event dinner last month given in the afternoon. The menu was varied, the service attentive and the meals were excellent. It was a bit pricey but you can't put a price on class or perfection. Went here for a romantic dinner with my husband. It's totally off the grid and I would call this a restaurant where you would take your parents when they're in town. Crowd on average is definitely a little older but there were some people in the under 40 crowd. We had a reservation, although I don't necessarily know that you'd need one because it wasn't that busy. The restaurant is quaint inside, romantic and intimate. They serve warm focaccia bread with herb butter and balsamic vinegar and oil dipping options. I got the house salad and my Cesar salad which were ok but nothing to write home about. Ever the carnivore, I ordered the surf and turf which was 2 petite filets with lobster, mashed potatoes, and green beans. The filets were divine and cooked to perfection, the mashed potatoes subtly delicious. My husband ordered the seafood stew which had shrimp, clams, scallops and salmon in a tomato based broth. It was really quite good, and the smaller $18 portion was plenty. Of note, they have a lot of seafood on the menu of you're a fish lover. Service was quick and good, just what you'd expect at a place this nice. My only knock on it was that the surf and turf was $38, it was one of the specials so the price wasn't displayed anywhere when we ordered, not a huge deal but you can get a lot more bang for your buck at a slightly more hip place that won't require you to get your GPS out to find. read more

Went here with a couple of friends on a Sunday night. We called ahead, because the place is very good... you'll see that I have to struggle to defend not giving this place 5 stars! On arriving, found that there were only a few cars in the lot... is it Resturant Week somewhere? The place is a well maintained victorian home, very inviting, tough not trendy at all. We sat with other guests in a side room that had a fire going. Temperature was very comfortable and the atmosphere was beautiful with the fireplace lit... Service was excellent. Drink menu was very extensive, with a good selection of bourbon. I ordered a Hendricks martini. It was just as I asked and delicious. Though, after the time it took to be carried to our table, it still had a bit of haze to it, that took about 15 seconds to settle out. (I forgot to mention 'stirred'... dang 007 and his 'shaken' vodka drink, which I won't call that a martini! :) They had 4 to 5 specials which were highlighted by our server without price. All sounded great. I selected the seafood napoleon with curry dressing, which arrived beautifully presented, like a stacked mixed greens salad, with chunks of lobster, crab and nice large shrimp, separated by squares of delicate phyllo pastery and drizzeled with a lite and flavorful curry dressing. It was sereved with a steak knife and I promptly destroyed this beautiful creation! It was wonderful, though I expected a bit more from the curry side... After a martini, the bread and the large appetizer. I'm happy that I only ordered the chop salad. It was very good. My friends started with a soup, tomato gorgonzola, which was flavorful, but less gorgonzola than they expected (and maybe a touch on the salty side?). He had a half portion (plenty large) of some cream sauce linguine and she enjoyed the crab cake, which they were both very pleased with. A lovely dinner out, with excellent service. I learned about Lake Ridge Restaurant this week; I had not heard of it before. I was invited to a business lunch and was impressed. The interior is quaint and clean. Service is great. Menu has something for everyone and they have daily specials. I kept it simple - house salad and a cup of the soup of the day (shrimp with pineapple in a lovely, slightly spicy broth). The salad dressing was an apple lemon poppyseed (if I remember correctly)....light, flavorful and delicious. My two colleagues had pasta dishes and had no problem finishing them off completely. All of the food looked outstanding. I'm looking forward to visiting again sometime soon to try other items on the menu. read more

Lake Ridge Restaurant is on the short list of places that I truly enjoy for special occasions in the Saratoga Springs area. The most recent occasion was dinner with good friends who were visiting from "down below" in NY, and who are well acquainted with fine dining. What I know I can always expect from Lake Ridge is very good food, excellent service and a nice, quiet, relaxing atmosphere where you can actually speak with, and hear, your tablemates (what a concept!). I have been to Lake Ridge probably a half dozen times for business dinners as well as casual lunches, and they never disappoint. Everyone will tell you that they are known for their Pecan Pork Chop - they are, indeed, fabulous - but I can also say that their pasta dishes (which my friends enjoyed), steak and seafood are delicious. My friend raved about the swordfish. Having said that, I always seem to be drawn to their Veal Jacqueline which is served with the most interesting, tasteful "confetti" rice that I've ever seen. The service was friendly, attentive and efficient. I don't find the table set-up overcrowded as one person mentioned. The prices are not inexpensive but I don't mind paying more for a fine meal. Lake Ridge often participates in the local Restaurant Week held in the winter (they have special offerings at discounted prices), and I always make a point to go with my friends. This place is in the middle of a town that I never knew was there! Went for lunch and we're the first customers of the day, took a while to get someone to notice we had arrived. The menu was a little concerning as I have a shellfish allergy but the vegetarian options were delicious. We had to delay my Dad's surprise birthday party dinner due to yesterday's Nor'easter blizzard, and so we all gathered tonight at one of Dad's favorite restaurants in Round Lake, NY. Round Lake is a tiny village within the Town of Malta, just south of Saratoga Springs. According to my Dad, Round Lake Village began in the mid-1860s as a summer camp for groups of Methodists. At first, visitors lived in tents, while visiting ministers could rent space in the second story of the meeting's passenger station. More permanent structures including cottages, a two-story trustees office and bookstore, and a market appeared. Today, Round Lake is a quaint little village perched up on a bluff overlooking the lake with it's small airport and seaplane base. Located up on the hill within this charming community is the Lake Ridge Restaurant, a surprisingly excellent "special occasions" fine dining establishment. Lake Ridge is located within an old house, and there are four main dining areas, plus a bar, outdoor patio, and a waiting area in the front foyer. There is no piped in music, and cellphone usage is discouraged, so you're able to chat with each other while enjoying an excellent meal. My Dad, my sister, her husband, my oldest niece, her boyfriend, and me all gathered for dinner. We started with two terrific bottles of wine - a Pinot Noir and a Cabernet Sauvignon, and toasted Dad's big milestone birthday. We ordered two helping of Lake Ridge's famous Diver Sea Scallops as our appetizer, and that was served along with warm bread, herbed-compound butter, olive oil, and balsamic vinaigrette. The scallops appetizer was pan-seared diver sea scallops served with sesame-seaweed salad, and finished with a curry red bell pepper vinaigrette. Our server described the evening's specials - 4 in all, and we spent a few minutes pondering our choices. I had the Chef's Special NY Strip Steak covered with a Bleu Cheese white cream sauce and topped with a bacon-wrapped roasted jalapeno pepper that had been stuffed with homemade Italian sausage. That came with roasted vegetables and a pasnip puree. Yummmmmm!!!! We managed to save enough room for dessert, and sang to Dad as he blew out the candle stuck into the middle of his gelato special covered in a white chocolate shell. I have been to this restaurant several times, and while the service and ambiance is always good, I find it extremely overpriced. I know good restaurants are not cheap, but when you pay around $40 for an entree (which are often unique and delicious), it would be nice to have something other than plain mashed potatoes and overcooked green beans. And of course, the drinks and desserts are very expensive, but that is to be expected. What was not expected, was to be charged for both cups of coffee at these prices. read more

We read the Yelp reviews and wanted to try this restaurant. My wife ordered the scallops and I had to be filet minion with Peppercorn. They were both nothing short of excellent. The desserts were also great. There are not very many "fine" dining options near Malta, NY. This place though does not disappoint. It appears to be an older style colonial house transferred to restaurant. They have great appetizer choices and their soups are always spot on. It is a great find for lunch but is a touch pricey for the area. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary with another amazing dinner at Lake Ridge. The one thing that keeps us coming back is their consistency in everything they do. Leah, our server was pleasant, attentive, and always came over just when we needed something (must be a sixth sense). The drinks were perfect, and the bartender made me a coconut margarita which they had before, but wasn't on their drink menu. The Bostonian Shrimp appetizer we shared was so good my wife said she would have ordered that for a meal. The main courses we each got were cooked to perfection. She ordered the fillet mignon and asked for it to be cooked well done. I know, that seems like a crime, but it was so tender with a perfect char, and you could cut it with a fork. My choice was the veal tenderloin. I always like to try something different when we go there and it was amazing. If it wasn't such a nice place, and my wife wouldn't kill me, I probably would have licked the plate clean. We shared the crème brûlée for dessert and it was delicious. I had coffee with it, and it was so fresh that it was the perfect end to my meal. The ambiance of Lake Ridge is very warm and inviting. Our table was near the fireplace and looking across the room everyone seemed to be enjoying their evening as much as we were. Very good food and service, however, the hostess was not happy about us having an infant with us. I get that there are people who don't love infants, but from the phone call making the reservation she was not happy and told us that they do not allow strollers. This is the first restaurant that we've encountered that problem. We made do with putting our baby in the car seat, but she's used to being rocked in her stroller. Many customers approached us to see our little girl as did one waitress (not ours). Shame on Diana and our waiter, who were so cold to us. read more

At your table the waitress comes and fills your water, and they have a huge drink selection to choose from. We didn't tonight, but there was a lot of offer. They come out with warm bread and a nice flavored butter, oil, and balsamic. The menu is moderate sized, but the choices all sound delicious. I was torn between two options, but eventually chose the half verison of the Seafood stew. It had mussels, shrimp, delicious salmon, and scallops. Packed full of veggies and the tomato broth was so refreshing. I loved that they offer half verisons of the entree's. That was a nice touch when you can't eat a lot. But boy did the portions excel being half sized. They were GIANT. I couldn't imagine the full sizes. My boyfriend got the Tortellino and absolutely loved it. I took a bite (of course) and i even loved it and wanted more honestly. It was creamy, garlic-y, and delicious. He got the half size as well. The food came out surprisingly fast and super hot which to us, was a nice touch. The meals were outstanding and we will most certainly be back. My wife got the petit filets, one was perfectly cooked med rare the other was slightly smaller and was a tiny bit overdone. Her sides were very good. Atmosphere- 5 Stars. Nice place, cozy and warm. Never seems to get too loud either. Service- 5 Stars. Very good. Attentive, nice, but not overbearing. Drinks- 5 Stars. Awesome selection of beers and drinks, nice wine menu. Value- 3 Stars. When not doing a special like mentioned above, I think Lake Ridge is a little on the high side, with entrees mostly between $23 to $29. read more

Both dishes satisfied my craving for unique food though. My waiter both polite and quick. The atmosphere is that of a week organized and friendly home. My husband and I went here for lunch today for the first time. I've always enjoyed their dinners. Their lunch menu sounded fantastic. I ordered the California burger with a side of chipotle sour cream. Their burgers are 100% angus beef and a 1/2 lb! On top was a black bean salsa, avocado, and jack cheese. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had! Perfectly medium rare and the patty was actually seasoned! It came with a side of herb roasted potatoes that were equally delicious - more interesting than fries. My husband had the warm Mexican wrap. It sounded better than it tasted. It didn't have much flavor, and it wasn't in a garlic herb wrap as stated. We both agreed the burger is the way to go. We will definitely be back for lunch soon. Great price on Piper 375 champagne at $20. The duck was good, but not hot. The artichoke souffle was cheesy and tasty, but too heavy in the size. The scallop was delicious with seaweed salad and the salmon was too big and tasty. The wine was fresh and plentiful. Actually, it wasn't great, but each part was better than good. I think its the $150 that I'm reacting to. At $100 it would have been a bargain. The rooms are loud and I felt crowded. I recommend not sitting in the room to the right as you come in adjacent to the bar. Perhaps the other rooms would have felt more open. read more

2017/05/14 Sunday dinner Atmosphere and service: The space is pretty cozy and conservative, not exactly the most tasteful in terms of decor. The dining room we sat in was pretty packed, but with the dim lighting it still felt private. Our waitress remained very neutral and professional and checked in with good timing. In general, it had a casual and relaxed vibe. Food: I was blown away by the very well-cooked meats but disappointed by the inadequate cuisine curating. To be fair, the garlic butter sauce the escargot was served in was heavenly for a garlic lover like me, and the salad was refreshing and tasty. We ordered rack of lamb, filet mignon, and duck breast. The lamb and filet mignon were cooked to their perfect degree of tenderness, fresh, rich and juicy. The duck wasn't as flavorful, which was expected for breasts. I wish more of the skin was left on, for that the duck skin, when done right, carries the most aroma and flavor. Why three stars: I was rather unhappy with what our meats were paired with in the entrees. For vegetable, regardless of what we ordered, the only option was green beans, which wasn't cooked well and tasted bland and watery. The wild rice that came with the duck was overwhelmingly charged with herbal bitterness and sandy texture. It was competing with the duck instead if complimenting it. We all thought that with a little more thought or attention to detail, such amazingly cooked meats could've have gone from "nice food" to "cuisine", which would be worthy of the price each dish was charged for (in this area). Again, the meats were very impressive and delicious, and I hope to come back sometime if they are paired with better foods. read more
