I was seated immediately. Service was spot on and friendly. Great diner atmosphere and ambiance. Food was hot and fresh. Large menu and several options to choose from. I will definitely be back!!

Solid breakfast cafe! I visited on a Sunday morning and waited about 10 minutes for a table. They take your name and give you a buzzer when your table is ready. The menu has a ton of options but I do wish they had more breakfast meat options aside from just ham, bacon and sausage. I'd love to see turkey bacon or sausage as another option. I ordered Blueberry pancakes with sliced banana on top. They were delicious and under $10 for a stack of two large pancakes. You can't beat that! The staff is friendly and the space is large. Highly recommend!

Ugly Rooster Cafe in Malta gives classic diner vibes. Super busy on the weekends but we were able to get sat right away before 9am. Lots of parking but the place does get packed. I found the food to be priced reasonably. Absolutely loved the yummy cake and the yummy style french toast. The chocolate chip pancake was maybe a little overdone, the chocolate chips were all burnt by the time it got to me. My partner enjoyed the foghorn leghorn burrito, and the home fries were pretty tasty! Service was friendly and pretty quick, and the regular coffee was decent. Definitely worth coming back.

Great service that is always kind and pragmatic. Loving the huge variety in menu offerings. The ambiance is homey, east coast diner yet the food is a step or two up from the classic greasy spoon. I had the best patty melt ever (melted swiss cheese served hot, with perfectly caramelized onions and a juicy beef patty) just can't get one good enough out on the west coast bay area. The side pasta salad was tasty too. Can't wait to be back in town so we can go here again! If you live nearby you are lucky!

Unfortunately, I didn't have a great experience. Service was extremely spotty, albeit friendly. Our food took an extraordinarily long time for some pretty simple breakfast items. When three of our meals arrived, the fourth was MIA for almost another 20 minutes. It was a bit weird/awkward... and not really addressed by the server appropriately. We all found our meals to be mediocre and nothing really exceptional.

Great place, 11:00 am weekday is the perfect time for a meal (sound & busy). The place is lovely, service is tremendous, food is scrumptious!! Hubby & I had "brunch" together. I completely recommend this place...Maya was attentive, kind and made this experience wonderful. Attached is pictures of food & menu...take the time to visit. I challenge you to pick one thing, it's filled with yumminess!!

    "Hash"

The service was top-notch. Fried pickles spears were good. We all got a variety of breakfast and lunch items. I got eggs Benedict which was ok. Seemed a bit overcooked. The English muffin was thick. The home fries were eh, they tasted a bit old, some of which was overcooked, some which wasn't cooked enough, the homemade hash was just a plate of meat with some potatoes thrown in there, which wasn't very good. Not hash! One of us got rye toast with breakfast, which was not even toasted. The " toast" was mushy. Probably brushed with melted butter. Another got a wrap which he said was barely warm in the middle. The tacos were enjoyed by another and they looked good. I was not impressed with my food which is surprising because there's a constant line to get in there. I think the food is overrated. The place is big and welcoming though. The staff is great!

First Time Visit.... Went there for a breakfast on a Monday morning. The place wasn't busy which I'm happy about. I ordered Eggs Benedict with home fries and coffee. I found the Eggs cooked to perfection the way I requested them. The potatoes were good, this restaurant uses a seasoning on them which I enjoyed, but my breakfast buddy didn't care for them. I don't think this should be a deal breaker. The restaurant was very clean and organized. The restroom was clean and had a nice smell in the air. Service was excellent, plenty of offers for more coffee.

Reuben with a side of their homemade chili

We experienced mass confusion when we entered at noon on a Saturday for lunch. There were people everywhere in the front of the restaurant, half of them waiting to be seated by the hostess, the other half waiting to pay their bill at the counter (you could tell them by payment and bill in hand). The poor hostess had no idea who she was seating next. For the 5 minutes I experienced this, my thought was, "People must really enjoy the food to endure this." That seems to be the case, at least if our lunch today was typical of meals here in general. Once we were seated, I couldn't find fault with anything about our meal. The portions and the taste of the food were both excellent. My mom's Reuben was stuffed with all the right ingredients. She accompanied it with their homemade chili, which includes several types of beans and is spiced just right. My Mechanicville Special burger was cooked perfectly, topped with a generous helping of greens, several perfectly cooked slices of bacon, and at least half of an avocado sliced, maybe more, and then some ranch dressing. This went beyond my typical "messy good" comment to "messy excellent." For the side "salad" option, today's choices were a broccoli and dried cranberry salad or their homemade cole slaw. I opted for the latter, and it had the right amount of creaminess and sweetness. Service was also quality, as our waitress was friendly and quick and almost effervescent in her behavior. It was a pleasure to be served by her. One note on getting here - If you're driving north on Route 9, navigation may say turn left onto Blacksmith Drive, which you can no longer do because the highway division starts there, accompanied by a "No Left Turn" sign. So instead, go to the traffic circle just ahead, and either take NY 67 west to the exit there, or double back onto Route 9 south.

Well, it is clear I have found my new go-to place for breakfast. I live a half hour away and will happily make the drive. 3 friends and I met here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. When I saw the packed parking lot, I thought for sure we were in trouble. On my way home, I passed a coffee station on the outside porch. I had never seen anything like it before and thought it was a really nice and considerate touch for waiting customers. To my surprise, my 2 friends that arrived ahead of me had already secured a table. It was definitely busy, but somehow, not so loud that we had to yell to hear each other. Despite the number of people, it was easy to converse with the waitress and each other. Our waitress was also super sweet and very helpful. She answered our many questions patiently and added items as we were ordering and realized we wanted something extra. And the food! Oh. My. Goodness. The amount of food was unreal. Do you see that pile of pancakes? If you have a sweet tooth, these cannoli pancakes will not disappoint. The homefries were perfect, which is amazing as it is very hard to find ones that are seasoned well and actually have flavor. Finally, that (homemade) corned beef hash. I usually wait all year for a trip to our favorite spot in Maine to get this. I am so excited knowing I have this option close by now, too! I did ask for it crispy, so I don't know if it would have come this way normally, but it was perfectly delicious. I highly, highly recommend stopping here for breakfast when you have the chance.

Solid breakfast stop on our way home from Vermont. About 2 minutes off 87. Face paced, diner like setting. There was a long line of people waiting for tables but the wait was only about 5 minutes. Quality breakfast. Egg white omelette was delicious and so were the potatoes that came with it. Bananas foster French toast was a treat. And a side order of fried green tomatoes was delightful!

    Foghorn Leghorn Burrito

Wow what a amazing breakfast. The Foghorn Burrito and the eggs Benedict. Great friendly and fast service at a great price. P.S. You have to try the Yummy Cake.

    Fried Green Tomatoes

Arrived to a line going out the door and a full parking lot, but when I went in to put our name on the wait list, I was given a pager and was told it would be about 15 mins. That's not bad and they were pretty accurate with time guesstimate. The service was flawless and the food tasted great. Service was prompt and pleasant. No complaints. We weren't rushed out, either, after completing our meal and getting the check. I didn't taste the coffee, which is extremely unusual for me when eating breakfast or brunch and they didn't have real lemonade, but most places around these parts don't. So I can't deduct a star for that. Food came out lightning fast and was cooked properly. I got the crab & tomato omelette topped with avocado and my buddy got the Benedict. The hash browns were standard but good and the toast was great! (Italian bread). Very tasty. Bill for 3 people, 3 breakfast meals, 3 soft drinks and the green tomato app was $60.

After reading my last review I think it would be fair to say they have addressed most of my previous comments. The Cinnamon Raisin I had today had a reasonable number of raisins and continued to have a nice amount of cinnamon flavor with a very enjoyable chew. The plain cream cheese I requested on my toasted bagel ($2.95) was proportionally appropriate. My wife's toasted Chocolate Chip bagel with plain cream cheese ($2.95) had just enough chocolate chips to not overpower the enjoyable flavor of the bagel and to also not become a dessert bagel. Two very good cups of coffee from Capital City Coffee Roasters ($2.10 ea.) added to our enjoyment. Staff were friendly and service was prompt.

This warm cocktail was a total delight and absolutely hit the spot. We started with the house bread. I know it sounds like "just bread," but the texture was perfect, and the ricotta honey spread paired with it nicely. For entrées, I had the chicken schnitzel. It was crispy and well-executed, and the beurre blanc was silky and rich. I think it would have been even better with spaetzle, but the portion size was generous on its own--I'm just a starch girlie. My husband ordered the bolognese, which was flavorful and came in a healthy portion. He ended up taking some home, which we love because leftovers are never a bad thing. For dessert, we shared the pot de crème. The balance of caramel, saltiness, and chocolate was the perfect finish. The chocolate was rich and smooth. I also loved the décor--it was such a pleasant surprise to find a place like this in South Glens Falls.

It did not disappoint. We had the opportunity to check it out following a wake in Queensbury. Our drinks were very good. My Limoncello Spritzer really hit the spot. My husband was delighted that his Bloody Mary did not include any olives (lol). However, $18 is steep for tomato juice, folks. We shared the Brussel Sprouts as a Starter. Both of us ordered the Crab and Scallop Cake Benny which was topped with hollandais, served on a bed of arugula and accompanied by tasty potatoes. Absolutely delicious! Our server was very nice. She seemed to be handling a lot of the tables and managed it well. We were not rushed nor did we feel neglected. It's a small place, cozy and welcoming. Love the china. There is a parking lot and also street parking. The menu is limited. If you have fussy eaters, you may want to check it out online before making a reservation (which is recommended). I would have given them 4-1/2 but the system doesn't allow it. We will definitely return.
