We wanted that small town, friendly, good food kind of place and the Iron Roost checked off all the boxes. It was about 40 min before they closed but the staff was friendly and helpful. This is the other coffee shop in Ballston Spa and while Coffee Planet seems more homey and kitschy, this shop is more upscale. They sell a variety of quiches and pies to take home. The pear scone and blueberry muffin were excellent. I know I reported that the chocolate croissant from coffee planet was good, which it was. But, the pastries at Iron Roost are a so much better. It's like a Gordan Ramsey burger vs. Five guys. They are both good, but one of them is in a different category. The Chai latte here was also well done and my wife liked the dark roast coffee more than at Coffee Planet. Both coffee shops have their place in Ballston Spa and are worthwhile, just for different things. There was a awesome car show happening in front of the coffee shop, which added to the overall ambience and contributed to the excessive amount of flannel shirts being worn by the customers. read more

Absolutely love this brunch place. We stopped by on a Tuesday morning before wrapping up our trip to Saratoga Springs. Plenty of parkings outside but this place is packed inside. Thankfully I joined waitlist on Yelp on my way and we got seated right after we placed our order. My matcha latte is awesome! We got the southwest fiesta, early riser, toasted berry waffle, and the New Yorker. All of them were amazing and fulfilling. Just visited this little gem in downtown Ballston Spa. Street parking was not a problem thankfully! Cute little cafe style eatery/coffee shop with additional goods to buy up front. You order at the counter first and then get a table after ordering. It takes a little bit to get used to but the staff were very friendly and told you exactly how things worked. I had a great meal at the Iron Roost many years ago but somehow never did a review. I went back with friends recently and had another great meal....and took pics this time. I didn't remember ordering first and then choosing a table, but maybe it's been that way for a while. I love the chill vibe and super friendly staff. They have a great menu and had some excellent specials. Everything is made to order, served hot and fresh. I had the special egg sandwich and it was perfect. Rave reviews on all of the other meals. Iron Roost always delivers quality service, a warm, inviting atmosphere, and stellar food. I've never been disappointed. They cater to all different tastes and dietary needs. Their lemon berry waffle is my favorite sweet waffle and the southwest fiesta is my favorite savory waffle. But waffles aren't all they have...their bakery items are also top-notch! The only thing that I can complain about is their hours. Since Covid they aren't open on Sundays anymore and closed on most Saturdays. This is when I, and most people, can come. Now I just go on special occasions when I have off and can go during the week. But my Sunday morning breakfast with my husband there is no longer a thing...and that makes me sad. I hope one day they can reopen consistently on the weekends. But if not, I'll be sure to visit on my time off. read more

Gosh, I never heard of the Iron Roost before and I went there for breakfast and it was amazing. Clearly the locals have discovered it and love it. I got vegan waffles with blueberries and they put a blueberry in each of the waffle indentations. They really care about their food and the presentation. They have lots of great vegan and non-gluten options as well as a complete menu with gluten. I would go back in a heartbeat, in fact, I would think about moving there just because of Iron Roost. read more

I popped in Iron Roost, specifically for a to-go coffee, while I was on a drive from Schenectady to Saratoga Springs. First of all--how charming is this place? I'll answer that. So charming. It's a cute little farm themed cafe that oozes small town charm. While I was in, they were absolutely bustling with folks. The good news is I was able to grab a cuppa to go with relative ease. They have an array of espresso beverages and I ordered one of their specialty lattes to go. It was rich and beautifully made. The service was friendly and I was able to browse in their small shop while waiting for my coffee. This might not be the best spot to get some work done but it's darling and offered a lovely break in my morning. It is a great spot to meet friends or colleagues, though! Get to it! read more

My son always gets a big smile on his face when I tell him we are going there for breakfast. He orders the waffle sticks with chocolate sauce. The food is excellent but I stopped going here for years because every time I went in, they were playing nonsense games and making getting food overly complicated. Use an app, get in an online cue, oh we've got a wait but there is open tables (no waitstaff, so that's not the issue). I tried again with my friends about a year ago, we were all disgusted and ended up at another restaurant. Today, I went on a Wednesday because it's my birthday. Played the games, checked the app, all the hoops (I go to all my other favs on Sundays, but this one isn't open on Sundays, so it was different). Once again, online said no wait, get there and open tables to be informed there is a 25 minute wait. There are lots of other options in Saratoga & BSpa. I'd highly recommend choosing another option. read more

Is voted one of the best waffles in NYS. The place looks rustic and has good ambience. They are only there Wednesday through Sunday. We ordered a cauliflower wrap, banana foster and eggs Benedict to mix it up. I have eaten banana foster here before, this time around it felt like it was way too sweet compared to my prior experience. I loved the buffalo cauliflower wrap as it was my first time trying it. I found a good vegetarian replacement for the Buffalo chicken wrap. The staff was friendly with the restaurant having more than normal traffic for a weekday. With a 45 min wait, we ended up taking it to go, but with people leaving we ate at the restaurant in the to go boxes. Most of it is homemade and the restaurant owner works with small business owners in the community. On the day of our visit we had one person promoting their clothing line. read more

I had a late morning breakfast here on a weekday and was pleasantly surprised that there was no wait! I normally get on their list on yelp and check their wait time as this is a popular spot for breakfast and lunch. It's always hard to decide whether to have something sweet or savory. All good choices and also gluten free and vegan options so something for everyone. If you're super hungry i recommend getting savory and sharing sweet. So best of both worlds. There's tables outside in nice weather and it's cute and cozy inside. I like that you order at the counter as there's also specials on the board and you can look over their beverage options both hot and cold. Good that they have menus on hand to peruse through as you approach the front. There's also a nice side table with milk and alternatives and sweeteners to jazz up your drink. You can also help yourself to iced water too which is always a plus. Just find yourself a table and your order is brought to you when ready. We had a lemon berry waffle, a customized waffle with berries, bananas and Nutella as well as a French toast waffle with a side of potatoes. It all came out relatively quick and was tasty, just not very hot in temperature. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but I do prefer my waffles hotter. The waffles were not crisp on the outside and tender on the inside either but maybe thats just how they make them here. I also noticed that the potatoes were a little darker in color than normal but it could just be the seasoning on it. The potatoes had nice flavor but were soft in texture. They were not browned and crispy on the outside but still good. The staff is friendly and you don't feel rushed. There's lots to choose from here and a nice place for a bite to satisfy your cravings! read more
