The infamous Elvis Presley pancakes (bacon + banana) @ Manory's in Troy - a heavenly breakfast!
    Christian L.

Loved it! My first time at this Western-style ambience diner in Troy, was good. Their plate of Elvis pancakes with chunks of bacon, was a treat - worthy of a repeat. It is a large diner in one room, with tables and bars but no small cubicles. Their coffee is delicious! Breakfast corner-joint that was a lot of fun. Review: 5

Excellent service with friendly staff. The food was amazing. I had a fresh turkey club with all the fixings

As my group was enjoying breakfast here, I occasionally heard snippets of conversation from nearby tables along the lines of, "This is why they've been in business all these years," or "Of course it's good, it's Manory's." There is clearly a dedicated set of patrons here, and I can see why. They have a lot of qualities I look for in this type of restaurant. The atmosphere is casual. The staff are friendly yet very professional. The menu is varied and quite interesting, and everything comes out quickly... really quickly. Restaurant chains that specialize in breakfasts should come here and watch and learn. I had a tough time figuring out what to have, but I settled on a breakfast combo featuring their crispy hash and pancakes, in this case their banana cinnamon pancakes. Their has was the best I have had in many years, indeed crispy but also not greasy at all. All our meals came out at once. Even though it was a busy Saturday morning, there was rarely a wait for a table, and when there was, it was a short wait. These folks know what they're doing - of course they do, that's why there still in business after all these years.

I don't have much to say that's negative. Very busy for Saturday lunch but we were seated within 10 minutes. Food tasted great and service was really spot on. Everyone was hustling and tables were flipped constantly. Portions were decently sized and overall I was happy.

This place is pure magic! My friend and I stood outside as soon as it opened, and the line was already stretching around the side of the restaurant. Within minutes of the doors unlocking, the place was packed--buzzing with energy, laughter, and the clinking of dishes. And it's no surprise why: everything about this spot is incredible! The menu felt like a work of art--carefully curated with an attention to detail you can taste in every bite. Each dish was methodically crafted, and the aromas alone were enough to transport us to culinary heaven. From the first sip of the Bloody Mary, which was vibrant, rich, and practically alive, to the coffees that were more than just drinks--they were miniature masterpieces, decorated so beautifully they felt like Christmas trees on the Fourth of July. This restaurant doesn't just serve food--it serves an experience. Every plate, every cup, every aroma felt like a moment of art in motion. It's a place where the boundaries between food and storytelling blur, delivering more than just a meal but a sensory adventure. If you appreciate flavors that sing and coffee that inspires, run (don't walk) to this place. Absolutely worth the wait--spectacular in every sense!

I worked in Troy for many years within walking distance to Manory's. Co-workers and I did not eat here because, unfortunately, with only a half-hour lunch, you couldn't get in, eat, and get back to work in that amount of time. Should we have taken extra time for lunch? Maybe. SO and I decided one weekend to give it a try. I am very glad we did. The special that day was a "waffle french toast." What a great idea! Wish I had thought of it myself. (Love my waffle iron for more than waffles.) It was large enough to enjoy and not have left-overs. Crispy waffles dipped in egg and then fried on the grill. OMG. Yes, I'd go back just for these bad boys. Side of bacon was enough for two people; crispy and bacon-y. Took my leftover bacon home for another meal. Keep in mind that there is limited parking in Troy. I did find a public lot a block away; but during the week you might not be that lucky. Staff are very busy but do refill your coffee regularly.

Cheese (mozzarella) and sausage omelette with home fries and buttered Italian toast. Side order of sausage patties and a coffee.

One of our family members called a few days ahead knowing that we would have a dozen people. They were very pleasant and made a note for the Saturday crew. We arrived on time, late morning. Note: They don't take reservations. Restaurant was full and our wait was only fifteen minutes for our crew. Anyway. Service was quick, friendly, polite, and got all our orders correct. All food was excellent. Selection was fantastic and everyone in restaurant was laughing, talking and seemed happy. I would say the ambiance was outstanding. Price was excellent. Definitely a place I would go again.

Chose this restaurant on a whim for breakfast as it was on our way from the airport and we were starving, and it ended up being a great find! We didn't realize it was Troy's oldest restaurant. It has a diner feel with breakfast and lunch options. Our server recommended the muffins as that's what they're known for, so I got the grilled muffin breakfast (if you've never had a grilled muffin you're missing out). It was delicious! And also huge. It came with sausage and eggs as well. The highlight for me was the seasonal coffee options, the gingerbread shaken espresso was amazing.

A mom and pop shop at its finest. I'd you're looking for that butter crispy edge pancake spot. This is your spot! I love a good pancake and this hit home for me. This is a hole in a wall that only locals usually go to. I really enjoyed it and honestly you will get your monies worth.

Awesome diner! Amazing menu with inventive pancakes - kids loved the Elvis pancake with banana, PBJ, and bacon. LOVED IT! eggs, waffles BACON and home fries were done perfectly! Definitely a must eat for breakfast. Would have loved to come again for lunch. Great for the WHOLE family!

It was darkly lit inside (with pinkish/red lights no less); it was extremely loud to the point that I had trouble understanding what my wife was saying (which might not be the background music!); and the prices were expensive. The entire night they played 1980s New-wave British music which I don't mind, but had it been something I detest I would have lost my mind. We were seated at a tiny table with a small candle which provided some actual heat on the cold winter night. Our server was extremely helpful and though he didn't have all the answers he did offer to go and find out. They have a long menu but it doesn't have a lot of food options on it, with most of the pages devoted to alcohol. They had only one dessert option when we were there. My wife and I both ordered the Hanger Steak with fries, mushroom sauce, and green salad (about $40 each). Hanger steak is my favorite cut and hard to find so I jumped on it. Food came out in about 25 minutes, which is amazing considering how small their kitchen is. The steak was cooked perfectly (they didn't ask how we wanted it), smothered in a lovely mushroom sauce, and covered an ample portion of crispy homemade fries which were so good I would have thought them bagged frozen items. Even the basic salad which was just various types of lettuce was great. They aren't cheap, but they are focusing on "farm to table" and that means quality food at commensurate (fair?) prices. Burgers and chicken sandwiches are $15, so if you want something lighter but still tasty you can go that route. Speaking of light, if you go into the bathroom on the right you will find a cold, dark, tiny room lit solely by a PINK bulb. It feels like being on a spaceship (as if I know what that is like), and after when you leave seeing the main light in the restaurant is very jarring. It was a fun experience but not inexpensive and not one that checks the boxes that I look for in a restaurant. Dark, loud, and cramped might be hip for the young or "save the earth" crowd, but I am too old to give up creature comforts for such things. The food, though expensive, was absolutely outstanding in every way though and I won't forget that steak for a long time.

There was a nice selection of soups. I ordered a cup of Greens and Beans along with 5 oz. of Fat Orange Cat Brew Chonky . I liked the beer. The soup was quite good, too. The man seated next to me was eating wings. He was raving about them. He said they were the best in town. I'll have to try them next time. Service is very good. The bartender was a good guy. I had some time to spare recently after dropping my dog off at a veterinary clinic in Troy. I ordered the Turkish Breakfast Plate which turned out to be the most expensive breakfast on the menu. I also ordered a Turkish coffee which is a little stronger than what I'm use to. It hit the spot. Service is fast and friendly. The restaurant small but clean and cute. It looks as though the owners might have added a table. There are three or four tables in all. There's a new partition in the kitchen providing a little more distance between customers and those working on food prep. Gone are the beautiful ornate gold detailed Turkish dinner plates and teacups. I found them charming though not practical. I sort of miss them but they looked like heirloom items which wouldn't be appropriate for day-to-day use. They've been replaced by simple white dish-ware. Much more cost effective. FYI. We arrived early and were seated promptly; water was poured before we even had napkins on laps. This surprised me, as reviews indicated that service could be slow and this was a holiday. But this started a constant service of someone checking in on us every 2-3 minutes (I am prone to exaggeration for a good story, but I assure you this was true. I kept checking my watch to confirm). We put in an appetizer order (deviled eggs) that was served within a minute or two. These were well seasoned and tasty, ice cold from the refrigerator. It's not that they didn't taste fresh, but they were served to us so quickly that I know that they were prepared well in advance and only the warm pork belly was recently prepped. Our meals were served as the appetizer was finished (I was still chewing). At this point, we were 10 minutes into our seating. Our meals included steak and eggs, which I incorrectly assumed would require a little bit more time. Not true! Our plates arrived, piping hot and tasty enough...but boy did we feel rushed. Our server, the manager, bussers, and other attendants stopped by our table every few minutes. I recognize this was a holiday, but there was not a steady stream of people coming through the doors and plenty of open tables were available. Our conversation was repeatedly interrupted with these check-ins and we all took great care to eat the meal as slowly as possibly to stretch things out. At this point we were on track to be out the door in 30 minutes. As a table we made a decision to order dessert and we were able to savor and dawdle long enough to get us to one hour. $180 later, we finished our Easter visit out in the parking lot where no one was pushing us out. (I will note that several families arrived after us and completed their meals in 30ish minutes. What's special about brunch when it's that rushed?) I wish I could review the food better, but my taste buds hardly had time to register the experience. Entrees were hot but clearly prepared well in advance and kept at the ready under heat lamps or in warming ovens. The dessert was cold and sweet as appropriate, but had that prepped yesterday feel to it. This is not what I expect from a restaurant that markets itself as a fresh farm to table establishment. I don't quite regret going to Scarlet Knife, but there are enough quality restaurants in the greater area that I probably won't return.

Coffee was a French press and was really good! The place had no cream or sugar for the coffee. Also there were no salt and pepper shakers on any table. When I asked for some salt they gave me a plastic sauce cap with some salt on the bottom to take it with my fingers. It was quite weird. For some reason "Butternut Squash Bowl" had only one egg while all other breakfast items had two. Not sure why this one was special. The real problem however was the smell. The very first impression we got upon entering was a strong smell of fried bacon and other foods. It was like standing next to a stove because the space is fully open, with no divider between the sitting area and the kitchen. In such a setup you need a strong hood exhaust but that in turn would make a lot of noise. Anyway, instead of taking our time enjoying the breakfast and great coffee we had to finish it asap and escape to prevent our jackets absorbing the smell :( We are giving Liza's of Troy 4 stars is it got 5+ on the food and coffee and 3 on the interior and atmosphere.
