    Skyline Special
    Michael K.

Craving excellent breakfast food? Look no further cause this diner is amazing. The parking is very easy due to having a parking lot. This diner is very popular so the parking lot may get full fast. The diner has a warm atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. I ordered the Skyline Special which consists of over easy eggs, sausage, and breakfast potatoes. I definitely have to eat it with Tabasco hot sauce. The white bread comes with a lot of butter which makes the toast super tasty. This special also comes with a small orange juice or coffee which is nice. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to eat breakfast food around the Albany Area.

Loved Skyline Diner. LOVed! Whether it was the murals on the outside, deliciously seasoned food plates, comfortable stylish seats and enjoyable interior: all was really great! Inside the diner the theme of red and black is continued from the outside and it elicits an urban and tough New York State atmosphere, mixed with the fun times of a classic 1950s dining experience. You are greeted upon entering. Everyone is having a blast. The bar was long and could easily fit 20 people, while the tables were also numerous and advantageous for people just rolling in off the highway. In the back - through the swinging doors - the kitchen was sizzling and looked truly squeaky clean and very professional. There were a ton of options to customize your plates and entrees. The menu was easily readable and comfortable to browse and look at. All the waitress team's staff were very helpful, easy going (not pushy) and happy - it was a very enjoyable dining experience being/eating in Skyline Diner. There are tables with views of the Albany, NY skyline and highways outside all throughout the diner. Cushioned seats. Wrapped silverware. My Chicken sandwich cutlet was delectable. It was seasoned to perfection, garnished and whoever works the kitchen in the back knows how to plate a nice dish, professionally with culinary style! My food was prepared quickly and there were zero - NO - mistakes made. My tastebuds were very happy. Will come back here, soon. Delicious Chicken Sando and fresh fries and pickles. It was wonderful! Perfect diner experience. Plenty of parking and seats, friendly wait staff, sparkling clean and fun decor - love the colored concrete floors and wall pictures. Big menu with lots of options. Perfectly cooked eggs, great diner sausage. Pancakes just a tad dry/flat. Need a little fluffing up and less of a crisp top. But still very good. Great value too.

Place was packed for Saturday brunch! Food was great and service was excellent. Will be returning.

If you've never been to Skyline Diner, what are you waiting for? Open for breakfast & lunch, you can't make a wrong decision! Staff is always nice & very efficient. My go to is the Greek omelette: delicious omelette with crisp potatoes & toast. Just yummy!!!

Classic breakfast Bacon, eggs and potatoes with a side of sausage. Taste fantastic and only $12.00 Beat that!!

Great place to eat with excellent food and service. Prices so reasonable will definitely recommend this diner to all that's hungry.

I should have checked the menu first but I assumed, based on my last experience, that there'd be plenty of delightful options. Well I was shocked to find not one dish on the dinner menu that called out to me! Small menus can usually still provide good variety but all they had were hunks of meat (steak, salmon, chicken breast) or burgers. Last time I had ravioli, so I thought there'd be at least one pasta or sandwich option on the menu. I took a look at their lunch menu - tons of variety. I wish they offered some of those options at dinner time. I ended up going with the burrata salad, it was good, but not really a full dinner meal. The food itself is well prepared and nicely presented. The place is looking pretty shabby, usually I really don't care about "aesthetics" and am all for some well loved furniture but the chairs were so worn out that it detracts from the classy vibe they seem to be trying to give off. All in all, not a bad meal but unless they revamp the menu, I don't think I'd bother coming back.

First of all, let me tell you, this little food court in the Empire State Arterial Mall is cool as all get out!. I had no idea there was anything inside this structure other than the parking garage because most of the time I am hanging on the roof which is the ground level of Empire State Plaza with reflecting pools and this time of year, an ice skating rink. Now back to Herbie's, nearly every on the menu has a vegan counterpart. The burger patties are homemade and really good, no processed Impossible burgers here! The shake was really good, the birthday cake flavor was a special this month and although they ran out of rainbow sprinkles the flavor was still delicious. I love that hint of tahini! The cashier was very apologetic about not having sprinkles but it was totally cool. You can't go wrong with shoestring fries and the large size is enough to share. If you have never been, check it out. This location also offer new chicken bites and has a coffee bar.

What a beautiful restaurant!…read more Did you ever have a long day and want to drink a big glass of red wine with dinner? The Scarlet Knife put a check in all the boxes. I walked in with no reservations. I noticed the space is very large with multiple dining rooms. I'm tired, I asked for a table close to the open kitchen. Once seated, I'm given a large, leather menu. There are lots of great entree choices but after I review all the selections, I'm going with the SK Bistro Burger. The entree also has a wine pairing suggestion, a Cabernet Sauvignon. It's like they read my mind, I'm sold! I'm starting to read about the restaurant, they have a large wine cellar and was recognized by Wine Spectator with an award for excellence. My bistro burger arrives, I can see this is a well crafted burger. From the pretzel bun to the thick burger patty, Scarlet Knife served me a great meal that I would typically order at The Capital Grill. My only issue, the onion straws were cold. I scraped them off and continued with my meal. I'm just passing thru town, Scarlet Knife was a fantastic spot to dine and have a generous pour of award winning Cabernet Sauvignon.

We arrived early and were seated promptly; water was poured before we even had napkins on laps. This surprised me, as reviews indicated that service could be slow and this was a holiday. But this started a constant service of someone checking in on us every 2-3 minutes (I am prone to exaggeration for a good story, but I assure you this was true. I kept checking my watch to confirm). We put in an appetizer order (deviled eggs) that was served within a minute or two. These were well seasoned and tasty, ice cold from the refrigerator. It's not that they didn't taste fresh, but they were served to us so quickly that I know that they were prepared well in advance and only the warm pork belly was recently prepped. Our meals were served as the appetizer was finished (I was still chewing). At this point, we were 10 minutes into our seating. Our meals included steak and eggs, which I incorrectly assumed would require a little bit more time. Not true! Our plates arrived, piping hot and tasty enough...but boy did we feel rushed. Our server, the manager, bussers, and other attendants stopped by our table every few minutes. I recognize this was a holiday, but there was not a steady stream of people coming through the doors and plenty of open tables were available. Our conversation was repeatedly interrupted with these check-ins and we all took great care to eat the meal as slowly as possibly to stretch things out. At this point we were on track to be out the door in 30 minutes. As a table we made a decision to order dessert and we were able to savor and dawdle long enough to get us to one hour. $180 later, we finished our Easter visit out in the parking lot where no one was pushing us out. (I will note that several families arrived after us and completed their meals in 30ish minutes. What's special about brunch when it's that rushed?) I wish I could review the food better, but my taste buds hardly had time to register the experience. Entrees were hot but clearly prepared well in advance and kept at the ready under heat lamps or in warming ovens. The dessert was cold and sweet as appropriate, but had that prepped yesterday feel to it. This is not what I expect from a restaurant that markets itself as a fresh farm to table establishment. I don't quite regret going to Scarlet Knife, but there are enough quality restaurants in the greater area that I probably won't return.
