The restaurant looks amazing and is extremely well appointed. If looks were the only factor this restaurant would be a five star. I was really looking forward to coming here for brunch based on some of the dishes that were being featured and some of the hype we read online. I hate to say that the hype was more than the delivery. The service was slow from the start. Over 10 minutes to get our drinks and then we were informed 15 minutes later that the kitchen was out of mushrooms so we had to make a substitution on our flatbread. I noticed that 2 other tables were seated long after us and after we were informed of no mushrooms but they placed their order and they were informed 5 or 10 minutes later that the kitchen had "just run out of mushrooms " so I call shenanigans on the actual "just run out of mushrooms " Anyhow, we received our order of brunch flatbread, brûlée French toast and a side of Thick cut Bbq bacon. The food looked good and was ok, I didn't like the fact the French toast was one large piece of bread 3 inches thick and not cut, but the thick cut bacon was paper thin and almost burnt. I really wanted to like this restaurant and I really don't because of the food. I have experienced far more delicious meals here in the Albany area that were the same price range but when we left we felt the value was not worth the price. This restaurant is a one time visit for me.

A stylishly designed place. We weren't very impressed with the food, but it wasn't bad either. The venue is quite large. It was nice to enjoy live music while we ate. The overall ambiance feels a bit cold.

Went here on 11/21 for my anniversary and it did not disappoint at all. Service was spot on and very attentive (shoutout to Shaneal!). The ambiance and interior were beautiful. My girlfriend and I were seated by the live music, which wasn't too overpowering at all. Food was excellent. I had the Roasted Venison rack and my partner had the French Onion Short Rib. Both were excellent, alongside the appetizers. Drinks were also quite good. This place is a bit expensive, but well worth it! A must try if you're in the area.

Ok- found this beautiful place on yelp - and decided to try it out since I was in town for a few days- alright- gotta say the first impression wasn't great. I sat down at the bar and had to wait almost 10 minutes for one of three employees to even acknowledge me. I literally was ready to walk out when I was finally acknowledged - that's frustrating. I quickly ordered a local IPA, a charcuterie board as well as a bowl of asparagus soup - to be fair, the charcuterie board came very quickly. Cheese was local, fresh, and plentiful. Oh, did I mention? Delicious! The same was true of the asparagus soup. Needless to say, it was a nice meal. But the true demerits were simply not being acknowledged for such a long time once I sat at the bar. When three employees walk past you at the bar and not one acknowledges you? Not a good sign. But I will say that the food was excellent. And finally? The ambience of this place was fantastic. Highly recommended for an upper class meal!

I'm not a brunch person, so don't judge this review as being by someone who knows from where they speak. I typically sleep late and don't have a huge appetite when brunch is usually being served. A bowl of cereal is adequate around noon to start my day. Two days prior to experiencing brunch at the Scarlet Knife I had a late morning appointment that offered me the opportunity to have my first meal of the day at 1 PM at a well respected diner that I last enjoyed nine years earlier. Since I ordered a breakfast meal at that diner, it might be interesting to contrast it with our 1 PM brunch at the Scarlet Knife. Among the most notable differences were the SK's atmosphere, architecture, live music, portion sizes, and prices. The totally open kitchen, modern light fixtures, well-spaced tables, and high ceiling, help to contribute to a fine dining experience. The only negative in my opinion is the slight echo due to the lack of sound absorbing material. While the restaurant was only about 10% filled while we were there, I'd anticipate the noise level to be annoyingly high when they approach full capacity. My wife started with a Kir Royale ($15) while I had my first cup of an apparently bottomless Sumatran coffee ($4). We also ordered a bottle of Saratoga Still Water ($8). The menu had a number of interestingly described dishes causing each of us to have a difficult time making a final decision. My wife ordered the Crème Brulee French Toast ($16) with house-made cinnamon swirl bread, Vermont maple syrup, caramelized sugar crust, and raspberry crème fraiche. We both agreed it was delicious and would have liked it even more if the bread had been soaked longer before cooking. I decided to have the Jumbo Lump Crab Hash ($24) with shallots, scallions, poached egg, hollandaise, and home fries. I did not experience much crab flavor, but it was still tasty, and the egg was cooked perfectly with a yoke that ran over the home fries, some of which were nice and crispy. Neither one of us left feeling as if we had overstuffed ourselves like we felt when we left that diner two days earlier. But we did feel adequately satisfied to last until a light dinner later that evening. Service from Peyton was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

First time here, beautiful restaurant, attentive, friendly staff. The menu looked amazing! I had the sea bass special over a corn risotto, one friend had the salmon and the other the short ribs. Everything was excellent! We did the charcuterie board as an appetizer. They also had live music that was not too loud that you couldn't have conversations which we appreciated! Looking forward to going back to try more of the menu and the desserts; we were too full to try them!

A first time visit today for Sunday Brunch to the Scarlet Knife. We had a group of 20+ and the service was excellent. I ordered the SK Eggs Benedict, Canadian bacon, wilted garlic spinach, Collar City Mushrooms, peppered hollandaise, English muffin, and SK home fries. I love eggs Benedict and this was a delicious variation of them. I found the restaurant to be clean, nicely decorated and even live music. It's truly a tasty brunch location!

Beautiful looking restaurant and impeccably clean. Kitchen is open and appears well run. Drinks refreshing and delicious Appetizer - oysters which my husband said were delicious Entrees - halibut with risotto (cooked perfectly, fresh ingredients and hot and fresh. Some of the best halibut I've ever had). Special of beef Wellington (husband said was amazing and cooked perfectly). We had a side of Brussels in duck fat which tasted amazing. The desserts looked great but couldn't eat anymore. A place to go for a special occasion. Keep in mind that the menu on their site isn't reflective of their new menu.

    Grilled rib eye

Mezze platter had a nice selection to chose from. Grilled Rib Eye probably would have been better if it wasn't drowned in so much demi, the spinach and potatoes were better than the steak.

If I could give a 3.5 I would. The food was good but the overall experience was not the most enjoyable. We went to scarlet knife for valentine's day. My boyfriend made reservations for 8pm and we were hard pressed to get there on time. When we arrived, there was a long line to be seen by the hostess and we ended up waiting around 10 minutes before talking to anyone. We were then told to go sit at the bar to wait to be seated... which would've normally been fine but (1) we had a reservation, (2) the bar was full, (3) we were told it would be a 10-15 minute wait. We didn't actually get seated until around 8:30 and I could tell my boyfriend was a bit upset because he'd planned a special night for us that was seemingly going awry. The hostess was also not very warm or friendly. I assume she'd been dealing with upset customers all night but still, it makes sense people would be upset about not being seated on time for a reservation. We also tried our best to remain positive and keep smiles on our face since we know that the staff most likely had a hectic night. Once we were seated, the night improved a bit. Our waitress was super sweet and helpful all night, definitely imrover my rating of the service. Our glasses were always kept full by nearby servers and the food came out in quick succession. Since it was Valentine's day we were given a prefix menu (there was no way to opt out of this which was a bit sad because my bf had been looking at their regular menu when booking). The food was yummy though. I got a caesar salad, short rib, and a strawberry dessert. My boyfriend got bisque, fish and risotto, and a peanut butter dessert. The starters were underwhelming. They had a great herb butter that comes out with bread though. Our main courses were tasty. Both of us agreed the fish and risotto dish was phenomenal. The short rib was good but not anything extradorinary. Our desserts were really good and a nice portion as well. Overall the food there was a 7/10, but for $200 I felt that it could've been a bit more impressive. The ambiance of the main room was beautiful and there was live music. Unfortunately, they placed couples in a room off to the side that was a bit lackluster. I'm sure I may have enjoyed the Scarlet Knife for a regular dinner some day, but not for my valentine's day surprise.

I had been here once before during their opening and I enjoyed it then, but WOW has it improved recently. It's really a hidden gem. Top notch food. T - my bartender had impeccable service and he was even training a young man on hospitality details that I really Appreciated. He also did so with respect and explaining "the why". I meant to take photos of my food, but it didn't last long enough. The new Burger on their menu was serious.... I'm a burger guy. It had a lot going on but the big beefy char flavor was so damn good! Hard to put into words unless you've eaten a lot of good quality beef before - the real ones will know what I'm talking about. I did a take a phew photos of their drinks and drink list which were insanely good. Like seriously balanced, refreshing with top quality garnishes which create an experience more than simple "a cocktail" The circulators of management checking to ensure you are having a great experience was also a nice touch. A small detail that is often overlooked post-Covid! If you haven't been....go. If you've been.... It's different than it was the first time I went - in a good way. I also saw that they are doing a charity event with Ronald McDonald House coming up which was the icing on the cake for me. Great food. Great service. Great detail. Great space. Great supporters of important charities. Love. Cheers - see you soon! I'll be back!

The Roosevelt Room in Troy was a great experience from start to finish. I was honestly expecting a standalone building, but it is tucked into a strip mall near HVCC. That said, parking was easy and stress free, which is always a plus. This was our first visit as a party of four, and the service was superb. The attention to detail really stood out and was noticed immediately. Our waitress checked in at the right times, kept drinks filled, and made sure everything came out exactly as expected. Meals are made to order, so substitutions were no issue at all, and it was nice to see gluten free options available. When you walk in, you pass through a curtain and are immediately greeted by a coat attendant who takes your coats, which instantly gives the place an upscale feel. The ambiance is well done, with soft lighting and nice background music. It is on the smaller side and dimly lit, but that is clearly intentional. The menus actually light up, which was a unique and thoughtful touch that fits the atmosphere perfectly. We had reservations and were seated right away. It did not seem necessary on this particular evening, but I would definitely recommend them on a weekend given the size of the space. The food itself was excellent. Everything we ordered was very tasty, and the presentation across the board was impressive. Desserts are prepared by a pastry chef and were just as good as the rest of the meal. It is definitely on the pricey side, but that is to be expected for the level of service and atmosphere. This feels like a special occasion type of place, and in that context, it is worth every penny. We really enjoyed our night and would absolutely come back. There was also a sign mentioning live jazz on Fridays, which sounds like a great added touch. Overall, a very strong 5 stars.

This is a lost service in the restaurant industry, but a lovely touch. We were seated in, what can only be described as, a room with phenomenal atmosphere. They have a cocktail menu that included historical cocktails dating back to the 19th Century until present day. The cocktails were perfect. We had pre-ordered a half bottle of champagne. It was very good. We also ordered caviar service. It is 1 ounce with sour cream, egg whites, yolks, and onions. Fresh made Bellinis that were still warm. We enjoyed it immensely. It was a lovely compliment to the champagne. For an appetizer we enjoyed the escargot. We have had escargot in many places, rarely, if ever, was it as good at this was. The garlic butter was on point, the crusty bread was a great addition to the dish. It was served with tiny leaves of Swiss chard. We cannot recommend this enough. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from their extensive wine list, Stag's Leap. This wine paired perfectly with the filet mignon bordelaise, and the veal chop with cherry peppers. We had a visit with the chef, he was a wonderful representative of this amazing restaurant. We cannot recommend this place enough. It's a little spendy, but worth every penny. Service, 5 stars! Atmosphere, 5 stars! Food, better than 5 stars! We will definitely be back.

Naturally it seemed like the perfect place for dinner! We decided to split a traditional cheese pizza and the chicken parm which turned out to be the perfect amount of food for the both of us - and some leftover. The pizza was great! Thick crust, classic marinara, and a generous amount of mozzarella. The chicken parm on the other hand was a disappointment. The chicken itself was too thick and dry, although a good portion size. The pasta was a complete miss. Flavorless, bland, and undercooked. The dish was also topped with cilantro which I thought was odd. For $27 and one of the more expensive items on the menu I was expecting it to be a lot more flavorful. Our service was sadly also not good. Our waitress was also a bartender so she got busier throughout the night with people at the bar. We ordered and she checked in on us once. WHAT BROUGHT ME HERE Located in the heart of downtown Troy,…read moreEmry's Garden stood out to me as it sits on the corner of an intersection in direct view of cars passing over the bridge into the city. I decided to eat here in celebration of getting a new job in the city. THE ATMOSPHERE Arriving at 8pm on a Friday night, the whole restaurant was packed. I made reservations so we were seated immediately. There was almost no overhead lighting- instead, most of the restaurant was lit by downward-lighting lamps at each table. Each table had a jar of flowers which added nice color to the environment; it was woodsy, but not in the polished, laminated sense. It felt more natural, cabin-like, combining well with the shrubbery, paintings with big frames, natural lighting from windows, and giant mirrors. The place was small, packed, and loud with people and background music. That's my only minor complaint; it was quite loud from all the people and everything was tight together, and I think the music was good, but would be even better with some more abstract, atmospheric score. This isn't the place to watch the game; there's no TV's. But it is the place to order a fancy cocktail or a Banana Bread Old Fashioned. And there is a bar. THE SERVICE I happened to know our waitress from high school on accident and she was wonderful. We were checked up on frequently, our food arrived fast, and the conversation was enjoyable. THE FOOD I ordered the Mickey's Riggies, a Rigatoni dish in marinara sauce mixed with peppers, chicken, mushroom, and Parmesan cheese. Flawless. My friend & I also got Bavarian Pretzel sticks as our starter and man, that buffalo sauce was good. Costed $60 without tip. THE BATHROOM My design professor once said if you want to understand the personality of a restaurant, check out its bathroom. Well, that didn't really apply to this place. The men's bathroom was a little jank, unlike the great atmosphere of the restaurant itself. It wasn't disgusting, just a little jank. BONUS: THE SPEAKEASY Yes, there's a speakeasy, but you're not going to learn about it on this Yelp review. You should visit it yourself if you get the chance. Dress up.

It was darkly lit inside (with pinkish/red lights no less); it was extremely loud to the point that I had trouble understanding what my wife was saying (which might not be the background music!); and the prices were expensive. The entire night they played 1980s New-wave British music which I don't mind, but had it been something I detest I would have lost my mind. We were seated at a tiny table with a small candle which provided some actual heat on the cold winter night. Our server was extremely helpful and though he didn't have all the answers he did offer to go and find out. They have a long menu but it doesn't have a lot of food options on it, with most of the pages devoted to alcohol. They had only one dessert option when we were there. My wife and I both ordered the Hanger Steak with fries, mushroom sauce, and green salad (about $40 each). Hanger steak is my favorite cut and hard to find so I jumped on it. Food came out in about 25 minutes, which is amazing considering how small their kitchen is. The steak was cooked perfectly (they didn't ask how we wanted it), smothered in a lovely mushroom sauce, and covered an ample portion of crispy homemade fries which were so good I would have thought them bagged frozen items. Even the basic salad which was just various types of lettuce was great. They aren't cheap, but they are focusing on "farm to table" and that means quality food at commensurate (fair?) prices. Burgers and chicken sandwiches are $15, so if you want something lighter but still tasty you can go that route. Speaking of light, if you go into the bathroom on the right you will find a cold, dark, tiny room lit solely by a PINK bulb. It feels like being on a spaceship (as if I know what that is like), and after when you leave seeing the main light in the restaurant is very jarring. It was a fun experience but not inexpensive and not one that checks the boxes that I look for in a restaurant. Dark, loud, and cramped might be hip for the young or "save the earth" crowd, but I am too old to give up creature comforts for such things. The food, though expensive, was absolutely outstanding in every way though and I won't forget that steak for a long time.

I picked out this super weird wine from the very back of the shelf and the owner couldn't tell us anything about it. Poured some drinks and it was so, so good- surprisingly so! Fast forward and it's that guys birthday a month later. I remembered the name of the wine and the image on the bottle, but that was it. I find it online. It's super hard to order. I get in contact with this beautiful company here, I email with Paula and talk to Shannon on the phone (they work here) and not only did they give me the kindest support and service, but they shipped the bottle of wine to me 9 states away in time for my guy's birthday! And it arrived early! I wish I could leave more stars- they deserve it. I am so grateful for the time, care, and quality they provided me. 8 states away or not, if there is a speciality bottle of wine, hell any wine, I need from now on- I'll be ordering it from here. Cannot recommend this team enough for going out of their way for me.
