For context, I rate products and businesses on a simple scale: 5 stars means I love it, 4 stars means I like it, 3 stars is okay, 2 stars means I didn't like it, and 1 star means I hated it or think it's unsafe. The Roosevelt Room in Troy was a great experience from start to finish. I was honestly expecting a standalone building, but it is tucked into a strip mall near HVCC. That said, parking was easy and stress free, which is always a plus. This was our first visit as a party of four, and the service was superb. The attention to detail really stood out and was noticed immediately. Our waitress checked in at the right times, kept drinks filled, and made sure everything came out exactly as expected. Meals are made to order, so substitutions were no issue at all, and it was nice to see gluten free options available. When you walk in, you pass through a curtain and are immediately greeted by a coat attendant who takes your coats, which instantly gives the place an upscale feel. The ambiance is well done, with soft lighting and nice background music. It is on the smaller side and dimly lit, but that is clearly intentional. The menus actually light up, which was a unique and thoughtful touch that fits the atmosphere perfectly. We had reservations and were seated right away. It did not seem necessary on this particular evening, but I would definitely recommend them on a weekend given the size of the space. The food itself was excellent. Everything we ordered was very tasty, and the presentation across the board was impressive. Desserts are prepared by a pastry chef and were just as good as the rest of the meal. It is definitely on the pricey side, but that is to be expected for the level of service and atmosphere. This feels like a special occasion type of place, and in that context, it is worth every penny. We really enjoyed our night and would absolutely come back. Finally got to visit The Roosevelt Room. What a treat! We stopped in one late afternoon for happy hour. I LOVE when nice places offer nice happy hour deals! Located in a strip near HVCC, once through the doors you are greeted by a friendly to welcome and direct you and we were directed to our goal- the bar. First, the design and decor are beautiful. It has clean, updated mid-century modern design that's very cool and elegant. At the bar we we had the pleasure of being served, hosted, by Erika and Ed. Wonderful mixologists who made our time there a true delight. We had scrumptious, perfectly made cocktails and our apps were delicious. We went for an anniversary. We had never been. First, we were greeted at the door. They asked if we'd like them to take our coats. This is a lost service in the restaurant industry, but a lovely touch. We were seated in, what can only be described as, a room with phenomenal atmosphere. Low light, but you could see, comfortable seating, amazing art on the walls, and a perfect spot for a romantic dinner. The service was top notch. We were offered water immediately. They have a cocktail menu that included historical cocktails dating back to the 19th Century until present day. The cocktails were perfect. We had pre-ordered a half bottle of champagne. It was very good. We also ordered caviar service. It is 1 ounce with sour cream, egg whites, yolks, and onions. Fresh made Bellinis that were still warm. We enjoyed it immensely. It was a lovely compliment to the champagne. For an appetizer we enjoyed the escargot. We have had escargot in many places, rarely, if ever, was it as good at this was. The garlic butter was on point, the crusty bread was a great addition to the dish. It was served with tiny leaves of Swiss chard. We cannot recommend this enough. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from their extensive wine list, Stag's Leap. This wine paired perfectly with the filet mignon bordelaise, and the veal chop with cherry peppers. We had a visit with the chef, he was a wonderful representative of this amazing restaurant. We cannot recommend this place enough. It's a little spendy, but worth every penny. Service, 5 stars! We had our first diner at the Roosevelt Room last evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food, drinks, service, ambiance and live music were exceptional. We shared a crab cake appetizer, beet and goat cheese salad, burrata filled ravioli entree, lobster lo mein dish, wine and cocktails. We did the tasting menu with the wine paring and it was a great experience! The service was excellent and very friendly. Ambiance was cozy and felt like we were the only ones in the restaurant when there were other customers present. 4 of the 5 courses were a 10/10. The only course that wasn't was the kangaroo because we were not expecting it and it was a new food for us. It was still delicious and we would give it a 8/10 only because the kangaroo meat itself was a bit gamey and not something we would go out of our way to order. My new favorite place in the Capital Region! I am in the Albany area only a few times a year, but am always on the lookout for places that I can call my "third place." There are so many places that treat you like you will never come back. There are other places that treat you like a regular after they've seen you a few times. There are a rare few places that treat you like a regular they haven't met yet. This is one of those rare places. First, I appreciate that they are welcoming to solo diners. I sat at the bar not because I had to, but because it looked like fun. The two bartenders, Anthony and Collin, were quite the dynamic duo. Anthony was training Collin, but they were very polished as a team. I didn't know until the end of the night that Collin had just started! I started with a lovely Roosevelt Room Manhattan and listened to the two of them discuss how many stirs to chill the drink. Nice. Another nice touch--the menu lights up. When I was handed the menu, I said, "Wow, hefty!" and it was because the thing was backlit. Way cool. The menu selections were great, and I wished that someone else was dining with me so I could try more! I almost went with the tasting menu, which was more value-priced than I was expecting, but there were too many other things I wanted to try. I started with the bacon-wrapped scallops and the Spanish octopus. Both were outstanding. The octopus was prepared perfectly, and both were beautifully presented. By this point, it was also time for another cocktail, and I decided to trust Anthony and Collin with bartender's choice. They quizzed me a little on flavor preferences and came up with a great companion to my meal. My main was the seared duck. This was probably the only minor stumble, in that I think the duck was a little too rare for my taste. I was expecting a medium rare, but this was very rare, making it a little too chewy. It still tasted delicious, however, and again, was nicely plated. I wasn't planning on having dessert, but by this point, I was all in. I ordered the Almond Joy on Anthony's recommendation, and it was, indeed, a joy. And just the right way to end the meal. I had a great time at The Roosevelt Room and look forward to my next trip to the Capital Region so I can come here again. read more

This is the only five star restaurant you will find east of the Hudson River in the capital region. We eat out a lot and are keen on getting what we pay for. The food is exceptional. This chef must be considered for a Michelin star. We've had meals at the other Michelin star restaurant across the river and as much as I love that family, this food blows them out of the water. The star of the show is the 12oz waygu NY strip which melts in your mouth. The side of broccolini in a red pepper sauce is divine. I had the halibut special which was perfect and we didn't leave a scrap behind. Our manhattans were delicious and their old fashioned (both on the cocktail menu) are so good. We typically get something chocolate for dessert but this time we tried the pistachio cheesecake which was a whipped dream of a dessert with buttered pistachios and homemade vanilla ice cream. I would sacrifice five lesser quality meals to eat once at this restaurant. We are already planning our return for our anniversary. It is pricey but so well worth it. And each server is a five star professional. You won't regret it. read more

We were very excited to dine at The Roosevelt Room in East Greenbush for Valentine's Day. We made our reservation online without any indication that prepayment was required. Today, January 6, we unexpectedly received a cancellation notice via email. When we contacted the restaurant for clarification, we were informed that reservations would only be honored if the meal was prepaid in full. This requirement was never disclosed at the time of booking, which was disappointing and frustrating. Prepaying for a meal more than a month in advance is unusual, and the lack of transparency around this policy reflects poorly on management. While I understand restaurants wanting to protect against no-shows, clear communication upfront is essential--especially for special occasions. Unfortunately, this experience has left a bad impression, and we will be making other plans for Valentine's Day. read more

The food is always awesome, the short rib dumplings and the tuna rice bites are great to start your dinner or even sit at the bar and pick at them, the signature drinks get the wife excited to try them all, for dinner I got the rack of lamb, the wife got the kangaroo we loved them both and they were cooked perfectly. The service there is always great too, the staff is very quick with it and ensure your glass is filled but also letting you enjoy your conversations with company. Business dinner with a long time client who love to have a casual drink and dinner at the bar. I called ahead and asked to reserve two seats at the bar, just in case. We had great cocktails and conversation in a greatly relaxed atmosphere but surrounded by first class art and food. We started with this great Southwest salad and Caesar salad. Absolutely delicious! Next we both had the Kangaroo Au Poivre! Wow! The flavor was unmatched. So Tender you could cut it with a fork. Last we split the Blackberry cheese cake. We were welcomed and taken care of by polished, attentive team members who all seem to truly enjoy being there. The food, while upscale, was not the least bit pretentious. Portions are good and each dish is clearly thought out as part of an experience. Drink menu is fantastic. We had one little glitch with one of our drinks and it was taken care of without hesitation (the daiquiri was great!). The Roosevelt Room quickly became the most talked about fine dining restaurants in the area, and now I see why. Chef Noah Frese is serving up serious creativity on every plate coming out of the kitchen. The space is stunning, small and intimate. I love the mid-century modern style decor and all the gem tones. It's gorgeous. The location is super accessible in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Walking in, you are greeted by a large team of servers and honestly, they completely nailed fine dining service for me. We were constantly being attended to, the most accommodating friendly service I've had locally. The staff was extremely professional, knowledgeable and helpful when ordering. Glasses were always full, place settings were swapped out at every course, tables wiped down, and every time my napkin fell off my lap, it was replaced with a fresh one. Incredible. The cocktail menu was great, and the full bar allows you to order whatever you desire. The wine list was reasonable with 4 bottles of red under $50, which isn't bad for fine dining. We enjoyed several cocktails, all hitting the mark. My favorite was the Pepperista, a savory pepper cocktail garnished with cheese. Delightful. We came to try a spread of appetizers, which was honestly a great way to try a ton of different plates and share everything. We ordered 6 appetizers, and the chef graciously complimented 2 additional appetizers to our surprise. I will caveat that Noah had recognized me, so I am not sure that this is standard practice. After placing our orders, we received an Amuse Bouche of cucumber gazpacho. Light, bright and a beautiful start. Following this, a warm loaf of fresh bread and butter was given to us while we wait for our first round of apps. The first apps we were served were the specials for the night. Surf and turf bites and the crispy rice. The surf and turf bites sent me to a different galaxy. I was blown away by the tiny flavor bomb of brioche, lobster, filet and foie gras. My favorite bite of the night and we recommended it gets on the menu ASAP. The crispy rice was topped with blue fin tartar and it was an amazing texture contrast. I was looking for a little bit extra spicy Mayo but the dish was great as is. Our chefs complimented addition to this round was the braised beef potstickers. The meat was super tender and it was a great fusion of flavors. I loved the mushroom dashi and scooped it up with a spoon. The second round of apps was the epitome of indulgent and unctuous. We ordered the wagyu bikini sandwich and the bone marrow. The wagyu was sandwiched between some super buttery crispy bread with some cheese on top of a bed of garlic aioli. This dish was delicious, heavy and buttery. I did desire a little bit of contrast to cut the fat, but that may be because the bone marrow dish was equally heavy and fatty. The buttery brioche with the bone marrow was a fat bomb that coated your palate, but also a delicious bite. I've never been served such a generous portion of bone marrow. The bones were thicc and there was plenty of unctuous bone marrow for sharing. The fattiness was cut with some apricot jam spread on top of the bone. It was a nice combo of flavors. The chef complimented a Spanish chopped salad this round, which was needed. The salad provided a light and bright contrast to the heavy dishes were were served. The salad was savory and sweet, with an excellent house made ranch and crispy onion. Before our last round we requested an intermission. To our surprise, every dish was plentiful and filling up to this point. We could have stopped here but, never give up. We were finally greeted with our caviar cones and the octopus. The caviar cones were a tobiko caviar with crème fraiche served in a rice cone. Tobiko is commonly used in sushi and doesn't have that kick of fishiness I love in caviar, so for me it was a little underwhelming, but it was still a fantastic bite and my sister loved it. The octopus was perfectly cooked, topped with an olive tapenade and garnished with almond butter and fritters. I am not a huge fan of olives but I love to challenge my palate. A bite of everything combined was a flavor explosion, but maybe not our favorite plate of the night. We were stuffed, blown away and satisfied at this point, but we had to have a bite of dessert. We opted to order the classic crème brûlée. It was classically prepared, perfectly done and an amazing end to dinner. Fine dining isn't for everyone, but it sure is for me. I loved this experience and I feel like ordering so many apps really told the chefs story. I would highly recommend checking this place out, even if only for apps as I did. For 6 appetizers, 7 cocktails and a dessert, our bill was $280 before tax. I felt it was reasonable for the experience and quality served. We were here over two hours and had an incredible time. What a fun time we had at The Roosevelt Room! The large, youthful staff is welcoming, efficient and talented. They helped to provide us with a wonderful and memorable fine dining experience. From the moment you open the menu--which is electronically lit--you know you're in for a meal that's special. The atmosphere is comfortable. The mid-century inspired decor is attractive. Executive Chef Noah Frese draws inspiration from cuisines around the world. He combines ingredients and seasonings for extraordinary results. The meals are also beautifully plated. My husband wanted to dine at The Roosevelt Room during its opening week. He's something of an expert on Spanish Octopus and he says Noah's version of the dish is second to none in the Capital Region. He also had the filet mignon entree. He asked for it to be cooked rare and said it was cooked perfectly. My salmon entree was also cooked perfectly. It was deliciously paired with red quinoa and remarkably healthy. There's an extensive beer, wine and cocktails list. For a zero alcohol option, I recommend the 1st Julius. It's a creamy, orange flavored concoction which tasted so good and was so artfully presented that I never missed the alcohol. Have room for dessert? Tonight i had my first experience at The Roosevelt Room, located in North Greenbush, New York. All i can say is, wow. The atmosphere gives Manhattan vibes. The cocktails were made perfectly. The staff were very attentive. My food came out quick. I have lived in the capital region all my life, and i must say this is one of the best restaurants I've been to. Unusual location - unassuming and generally uninteresting outdoor setup. They can't help what their street looks like, but why have outdoor dining at all if there's literally nothing to look at but an empty parking lot/street - not even enough foot traffic to people-watch or sky open enough to guess at clouds. But I can appreciate the convenient parking. Also unusual entry: very tight, dark, close quarters. I was grateful we were an intimate party of two but could imagine the discomfort if this were a group business function. Weirder still was that the hostess stand was facing away from guests, so I could see her screen and to check us in she had to turn her back to us for a time. Not a setback in anyway, just ... awkward. Food was good. Interesting (backlit) menu and ingredients, creative and visually appealing, and generally good texture and flavor combinations. I use "good" very intentionally because there were several points that made it not great (undercooked meat, dry dessert, excessively greasy toast, etc). I can't get past that they advertised a "green curry" dumpling that in no way had green curry in it or even tasted like it. Anyway... Drinks (cocktails) were excellent. I loved that they included drawings of the drinks in the menu. The drinks were well balanced and had options for every palate, and an impressive wine menu. Service was... weird. Everyone was very hospitable, but at times we'd be totally forgotten as they huddled in a corner and chatted. Our waiter kept throwing into conversation how tenured they were in the industry, yet somehow couldn't confidently answer any of my questions about the menu - and was totally wrong on two counts when our meals arrived. Decor was chic/glam/modern with one big open floor which makes for a lot of noise, and the music choice was just kind of odd. Something about the whole layout and design felt like playing dress up with your mom's clothes. Like "try to be upscale but can't really afford it". Perhaps it was that a man was dining in literally ripped jeans and a very dirty t-shirt and flip flops like he had just come off a construction job. Perhaps they could implement a dress code. Was it a good experience? Sure. Good food and pleasant company. Was it worth driving an hour and spending that much money? Probably not read more

Had a fantastic meal with my wife for our anniversary. From start to finish our experience was nothing short of exceptional. My wife had the "Heart of Stone" and I enjoyed a tequila on a big rock.
