    Hamburger and fries

We stopped in to celebrate a new graduate in the family. The drinks were so-so. Just not boozy enough. If I'm going to pay about $15-$18 a cocktail--it better be good! The food here is delicious, three of us ordered the burger and fries and one of us ordered the fettuccine with crab meat. The fries really stood out. My daughter was afraid to order the fettuccine but she was so glad she did. The waitress was super nice and it is cozy inside.

My sisters and I stopped in for brunch, not knowing that they only serve brunch on the weekends. We ended up ordering burgers with a side of sweet potato fries. The side order was so big! So much but definitely worth it. The burgers were good and had great flavor. We didn't order any drinks with our meals but enjoyed our time here.

I've only been to Nighthawks twice, but both times were memorable. The first time we went for dinner, vibes were great, food was amazing, and cocktails were delish. Recently, we went for brunch, and both my boyfriend and I had the spicy braised beef cheek with cheese grits, pickled peppers, crispy onions, and basil pesto. My boyfriend literally said, "It's probably one of the best meals I've had in a long time." The flavor combination in this dish was incredible--everything complemented each other perfectly. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! And can we talk about the presentation? Absolutely beautiful! I highly recommend making reservations in advance since they're pretty busy on weekends for brunch. Can't wait to visit again! ^_^

Still stand by this place as one of the best restaurants in the Capital Region. The menu is always changing and always creative. The drinks were dangerously good, the homemade maple mustard with the gougeres was the absolute perfect balance of tangy and sweet, and where else can you get moules frites?? Yum. They still have some of the best fries too. I need to come here more often!

Herb cheddar biscuit brunch special with sausage, a fried egg, and apple butter

Such a great brunch spot in Troy, and they take reservations (double win!!) I visited for brunch on a Saturday, and I'm so glad I made reservations beforehand because it was pretty busy. Their brunch menu changes weekly, so there's always something new to look forward to. I decided on the Brioche donut, which was essentially a fancy Boston creme donut with the most fabulous cream filling and chocolate ganache on top. For my main, I ordered the herb and cheddar biscuit with maple sausage, a fried egg, cheese and apple butter. It was delicious! My party also split a mimosa pitcher, which was a great deal since there were several of us. Also, the staff were so friendly and attentive. Highly recommend checking out Nighthawks and making a reservation for brunch. Just make sure to wear your stretchy pants!

Nighthawks does a smash style burger that could possibly be good but mine was overcooked and dry. The fries were thin, crispy and salty. Sitting outside on the sidewalk on a Sunday was pleasant but the iron chairs they have are uncomfortable and downtown Troy isn't the most picturesque scene. They missed my expectations but your mileage may vary.

Had the best food, service and ambiance - let's not forget the best bartender/waiter ever - come see Loukas he is the amazing

Fantastic brunch experience. The Bloody Mary here is extra special, whatever mix they've created is perfection. Also highly recommend trying their beer mimosa made with Narragansett beer - so refreshing. We started with the donut of the week and some jalapeño corn muffins. Just huge and absolutely fabulous! We definitely should have waited to order our main brunch meals because these items filled us up. We enjoyed a bacon egg and cheese and chicken sandwich. Both again made with high quality ingredients and unique flavor profiles that made us keep eating even while full. Our server was attentive and though it's small inside we never felt crowded. The outdoor tables for the warmer months is a nice touch too.

The bartender had an undeserved, terrible attitude and spent over 10 minutes making a single specialty cocktail. Our second drink was treated similarly, though this time she demanded we leave the bar area we were standing at to move to the other side where her male coworker was making our last drink. It was so obviously direct disrespect and distaste for us as customers, I will not be returning. Oh, then last drink where my non-confrontational quiet friend got our third round - they served her vodka beverage from the same shaker as my mezcal drink and it tasted just like that, a mix of vodka and smoky tequila... no thanks. Bathrooms? No toilet paper. Drinks were actually delicious though, except for Kristen's third! Not busy enough to excuse this hospitality.

The Roosevelt Room in Troy was a great experience from start to finish. I was honestly expecting a standalone building, but it is tucked into a strip mall near HVCC. That said, parking was easy and stress free, which is always a plus. This was our first visit as a party of four, and the service was superb. The attention to detail really stood out and was noticed immediately. Our waitress checked in at the right times, kept drinks filled, and made sure everything came out exactly as expected. Meals are made to order, so substitutions were no issue at all, and it was nice to see gluten free options available. When you walk in, you pass through a curtain and are immediately greeted by a coat attendant who takes your coats, which instantly gives the place an upscale feel. The ambiance is well done, with soft lighting and nice background music. It is on the smaller side and dimly lit, but that is clearly intentional. The menus actually light up, which was a unique and thoughtful touch that fits the atmosphere perfectly. We had reservations and were seated right away. It did not seem necessary on this particular evening, but I would definitely recommend them on a weekend given the size of the space. The food itself was excellent. Everything we ordered was very tasty, and the presentation across the board was impressive. Desserts are prepared by a pastry chef and were just as good as the rest of the meal. It is definitely on the pricey side, but that is to be expected for the level of service and atmosphere. This feels like a special occasion type of place, and in that context, it is worth every penny. We really enjoyed our night and would absolutely come back. There was also a sign mentioning live jazz on Fridays, which sounds like a great added touch. Overall, a very strong 5 stars.

This is a lost service in the restaurant industry, but a lovely touch. We were seated in, what can only be described as, a room with phenomenal atmosphere. Low light, but you could see, comfortable seating, amazing art on the walls, and a perfect spot for a romantic dinner. The service was top notch. We were offered water immediately. They have a cocktail menu that included historical cocktails dating back to the 19th Century until present day. The cocktails were perfect. We had pre-ordered a half bottle of champagne. It was very good. We also ordered caviar service. It is 1 ounce with sour cream, egg whites, yolks, and onions. Fresh made Bellinis that were still warm. We enjoyed it immensely. It was a lovely compliment to the champagne. For an appetizer we enjoyed the escargot. We have had escargot in many places, rarely, if ever, was it as good at this was. The garlic butter was on point, the crusty bread was a great addition to the dish. It was served with tiny leaves of Swiss chard. We cannot recommend this enough. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from their extensive wine list, Stag's Leap. This wine paired perfectly with the filet mignon bordelaise, and the veal chop with cherry peppers. We had a visit with the chef, he was a wonderful representative of this amazing restaurant. We cannot recommend this place enough. It's a little spendy, but worth every penny. Service, 5 stars! Atmosphere, 5 stars! Food, better than 5 stars! We will definitely be back.

WHAT BROUGHT ME HERE Located in the heart of downtown Troy,…read moreEmry's Garden stood out to me as it sits on the corner of an intersection in direct view of cars passing over the bridge into the city. I decided to eat here in celebration of getting a new job in the city. THE ATMOSPHERE Arriving at 8pm on a Friday night, the whole restaurant was packed. I made reservations so we were seated immediately. There was almost no overhead lighting- instead, most of the restaurant was lit by downward-lighting lamps at each table. Each table had a jar of flowers which added nice color to the environment; it was woodsy, but not in the polished, laminated sense. It felt more natural, cabin-like, combining well with the shrubbery, paintings with big frames, natural lighting from windows, and giant mirrors. The place was small, packed, and loud with people and background music. That's my only minor complaint; it was quite loud from all the people and everything was tight together, and I think the music was good, but would be even better with some more abstract, atmospheric score. This isn't the place to watch the game; there's no TV's. But it is the place to order a fancy cocktail or a Banana Bread Old Fashioned. And there is a bar. THE SERVICE I happened to know our waitress from high school on accident and she was wonderful. We were checked up on frequently, our food arrived fast, and the conversation was enjoyable. THE FOOD I ordered the Mickey's Riggies, a Rigatoni dish in marinara sauce mixed with peppers, chicken, mushroom, and Parmesan cheese. Flawless. My friend & I also got Bavarian Pretzel sticks as our starter and man, that buffalo sauce was good. Costed $60 without tip. THE BATHROOM My design professor once said if you want to understand the personality of a restaurant, check out its bathroom. Well, that didn't really apply to this place. The men's bathroom was a little jank, unlike the great atmosphere of the restaurant itself. It wasn't disgusting, just a little jank. BONUS: THE SPEAKEASY Yes, there's a speakeasy, but you're not going to learn about it on this Yelp review. You should visit it yourself if you get the chance. Dress up.

The bar tender, Noah, was impressive and friendly in that he knew his liquor stock very well, and could explain the flavor intricacies of the various types of bourbon, vodka, and gins. They also offer some non,-alcoholic beverages for the "designated driver" of the group too. We watched Noah make everything from regular and "dirty martinis" with fresh ingredients, as well as one drink where he used a butane lighter and some tiny cedar chips in a straining tool above the drink to give it a fresh, authentic smoky look and flavor. Noah knows his stuff!!!!! The patrons were friendly, diverse, and easy to socialize with if you chose to do so. The establishment is pet friendly for "socialized pets" with a water bowl outside the establishment and some free Milkbone treats inside. Keep in mind that this establishment is a "tasting room" with the majority of products from the New Scotland Distillery, but there are other options. Just don't expect to get a Bud Light Draft or food here. The only downside is that parking in the Lark Steet and State Street location is difficult to obtain without some effort, but we managed to park our vehicles 2 blocks away. This is not a direct criticism of the establishment because the experience is well worth this minor potential inconvenience. We would definitely go back there again, especially for the specialty drinks or the flights and half flights of their bourbon and vodka products.
