    Sesame Chicken Salad

I was picking my fiancé up from the airport in Albany and he was hungry as we were driving back home, so I look for restaurants off the beaten path, and found this gem! It was a nice day so we got to sit outside on the patio but I popped inside to use the restroom and it's a cute little bar that I would definitely go to again and have a drink. Our waitress greeted us, and was so refreshingly delightful and helpful when it came to picking out what to eat. She said that the sesame chicken salad was one of the best she's had and you don't need to use that much dressing and she was completely right. There were so many different flavors going on, but they all went so incredibly well together a Fiancé got the pork quesadillas and he said they were the best quesadillas he's ever eaten! We will definitely be stopping back you when we're heading to or coming home from the airport! Everyone needs to give this place a try

Food was good, but the service was awesome. We were on a road trip and found this gem. I had the wings and fries. My wife had the blue steak salad. The buffalo sauce is very tasty and homemade. The blue cheese sauce is one of the best I have had. Recommend if you get wings tell them to cook a little longer. My wings were done but could have used an extra couple minutes. Cool home town place. Bartender Crystal was great.

What a great place! The friendly staff and fresh foods made this really fun. Did I mention Guinness on tap? The pizza is nicely prepared and the crust wasn't soggy. The toppings were flavorful and plentiful. The salad was fresh and tasty. The duck wings took us by surprise as they were tender and perfectly spiced!

Pretty Good! I came here with a group of yelpers to explore all the unhealthy things they offer. The place was inviting, very popular on a Thursday evening, to the point that it became very loud inside. I started with a visit to the bar. I was hoping for more variety on tap, but I opted for a Wolf Hollow District 6 IPA in a can. Most draft was general domestic beers, with two craft choices. Hoping they get some more variety on tap. The menu was typical tavern fare with a couple of unique options, such as duck wings. We ordered a large array of items including mozz sticks, fried pickles, 3 orders of wings, duck wings, junction fries, 3 pizzas, and fried calzones. Some stand outs were: The buffalo wings, ordered extra crispy. They were meaty and crispy, with a good sauce. The blue cheese was also super chunky, likely made in house. The other flavors we ordered were not as impressive. The duck wings, who doesn't love duck wings? The fried pickles were very nicely done, great coating that really held on. The pizzas were pretty good, a little under done but still good. Our favorite was the white pizza with extra garlic. The philly specialty pizza was somewhat odd, not a huge fan. The fried calzone was interesting. A savory fried dough. The marinara served with the mozz sticks and calzone was a miss, not sure what was going on with it but it was perhaps a bad batch. The service/kitchen was unfortunately very slow this evening. Not sure if this was because the place was really busy or if it is normal. All food seems to be made in house so I suppose it is worth the wait for higher quality food. This is a fantastic place for the locals in the area, or if you find yourself near by. I enjoyed my night here, however I am not sure I would go out of my way to get here.

You ever been in the middle of traveling and realize "I need food IMMEDIATELY" but there are few options around? Of course you have. My wife and I were heading home from visiting family and it hit us too. This was the only option on the map that wouldn't require us to backtrack or wait 20+ minutes, so we have it a shot, even though it was close to closing time for them. The place sneaks up on you, hidden among the indicators of a struggling blue-collar rural town with 1 major employer. The waitresses were very earnestly welcoming and friendly, even though we were very clearly Not From Around Here. Even though they were set to close within 30 minutes, they never let that affect their attitude. Menus were brought quickly, orders taken immediately, and food brought out in about 20 minutes. I got a personal pizza (which they apologized to me for taking longer) and my wife got the dilla del dia (quesadilla if the day). Both were great! Pizza was perfectly hot and crisp, quesadilla had the right amount of crunch and was well filled (but not so overstuffed that it fell apart). If you're somewhere around Schenectady and Rotterdam and you want some good local pub food, this is the place.

The bar tender, Noah, was impressive and friendly in that he knew his liquor stock very well, and could explain the flavor intricacies of the various types of bourbon, vodka, and gins. They also offer some non,-alcoholic beverages for the "designated driver" of the group too. We watched Noah make everything from regular and "dirty martinis" with fresh ingredients, as well as one drink where he used a butane lighter and some tiny cedar chips in a straining tool above the drink to give it a fresh, authentic smoky look and flavor. Noah knows his stuff!!!!! The patrons were friendly, diverse, and easy to socialize with if you chose to do so. The establishment is pet friendly for "socialized pets" with a water bowl outside the establishment and some free Milkbone treats inside. Keep in mind that this establishment is a "tasting room" with the majority of products from the New Scotland Distillery, but there are other options. Just don't expect to get a Bud Light Draft or food here. The only downside is that parking in the Lark Steet and State Street location is difficult to obtain without some effort, but we managed to park our vehicles 2 blocks away. This is not a direct criticism of the establishment because the experience is well worth this minor potential inconvenience. We would definitely go back there again, especially for the specialty drinks or the flights and half flights of their bourbon and vodka products. Thank you once again, Noah, for a pleasant and educational evening!!!

Unfortunately, it was not a great experience. The bartender served our drinks with no napkins and no lime. Details are key in a place like this. It was also loud, and it looked like a birthday party was happening. If that was the case, maybe the place should have closed to the public to accommodate that celebration. People were loud and drunk, and the birthday boy was saying vulgar things. We will not be coming back.

Wow, what a treat to experience Willy's Rum Room on its opening night! Well, technically the space…read moreitself has been open for some time now, it's just moonlighting as Willy's now. By day, you know it as the Mercantile, the small coffee shop/bakery attached to Wm. Farmer and Sons. Though small in size and in what it offers, Willy's is a formidable venue. The cocktail program was created by the guy who created that of Wm. Farmer and Sons, which is probably the best of its kind in Hudson. As you'd guess, all drinks are rum-based (feel free to order from the adjacent bar if you're not feeling rum but in my opinion, only pop in here if you're looking for some funky rum cocktails). I'm not typically into rum, but I can be swayed if a drink is good enough. Such was the case here, and it didn't surprise me. Come here for a pre-dinner cocktail or a nightcap and learn a bit about a spirit you might've not thought much about prior to visiting. Welcome to the scene! Came here with my bf on a Friday night. We were getting dinner at Wm. Farmer and Sons but arrived a bit early for our reservation. Our gracious host recommend that we hang by the bar, OR, try out Willy's, just through the entryway. We apparently visited on its opening night, and I hope it enjoys a good life here. The hostess informed us that the cocktail menu there was different than that at Wm. Farmer and Sons--all rum-based--but if we weren't feeling rum, the bartender could still whip anything up from the restaurant's main menu. As I mentioned, the space itself is teeny tiny. Standing room only--more of a place to stop in as opposed to posting up and staying awhile. Just like its parent restaurant, the vibe in here is cozy and welcoming. Let's get to the important stuff: drinks. Everything at Willy's is rum-based. Even if you're not a rum lover, don't just assume you'll prefer the cocktail menu at Wm. Farmer and Sons better. I usually go for whiskey or gin, but I was thrilled with what I tried here. That said, if you come here and for some odd reason decide that you want to stay in this space but order from the other bar, you can indeed do that. I just don't suggest it, because what's the point? Between me and my bf, we tried the Mai Tai (Jamaican Rum, Bajan Rum, Rhum Agricole, Fresh lime juice, Curacao, Orgeat, Overproof Rum float) and the Fish House Punch (Jamaican Rum, Cognac, Peach Liquer, fresh lemon juice, soda water). Both fun tropical drinks, nice for the beginning of spring. Expertly crafted and impeccably balanced. I suppose I preferred the Fish House Punch slightly, but they were both fantastic. I thought the peach/cognac pairing was quite nice, rich but still refreshing. They also offer a Daiquiri and an Old Fashioned here, with your rum of choice. I'd probably recommend exploring that route if you want to explore different rums and understand a bit more about what each type brings to the table. I know lots about gin and whiskey and don't care to know too much more about rum (plus I don't like rum-based, spirit-forward drinks so the old fashioned would be a no-go) so it wasn't for me. That said, the bartender here is as knowledgable as they come and I somewhat regret not asking him about his selection to learn a bit more. They've got some fun stuff here that's worth looking into. Cheers!
