I had an overall ok experience here. It's a fun scene with plenty of TVs for sport viewing and seems like an enjoyable place for young and old alike. The service was also really pleasant. The waitstaff was quick, friendly, and professional. My biggest gripe was the food itself. My mother ordered the onion soup and it was...made wrong. It tasted alright but not like you would expect. It was wrong color, even, almost like they used chicken broth instead of beef. It lacked the depth that you expect with this dish. I ordered the Adirondack dip sandwich and this was also made wrong. The beef was under seasoned and over cooked. The sandwich was also missing the onions and the horseradish sauce they said it was served with so it was just meat and cheese. Overall the experience really wasn't awful, but I wouldn't choose this place myself. read more

The Tipsy Moose has become a popular staple in the Capital District, with several locations now open --proof that the concept is catching on. This location of the Tipsy Moose is easy to find--just off Route 4, north of Hudson Valley Community College. Parking is straightforward, but be careful not to park in the adjacent Deli and Brew lot--they're separate businesses. Inside, the space is divided by a low wall: bar on one side, dining area on the other. You can grab a seat at the bar or sit at a table for full service. The vibe is mainly that of a sports bar, with big-screen TVs and a steady buzz. That said, it's not just a drinking spot--there were diners of all ages, including families with young kids. Service was excellent. No issues at all. The menu goes beyond standard bar fare--burgers, pizza, quesadillas, sandwiches, plus all kinds of fried appetizers. The food is above average for this type of restaurant. For me, it leans too much into "bar" territory to be a go-to dining spot. It's great if you're heading out to watch a game or meet up for drinks, but it's not ideal if you're looking for a quieter sit-down meal. But definitely go if you're looking for a night out or just want to watch a game. read more

I would say this place is worth it for the explosion of unique poutine flavors. Besides that it's just a bar, the seating is a little unorthodox and the atmosphere is 80% traditional dive bar and 20% upscale hipster bar. It's like a hometown bar that's trying to be something it's not. IDK, but if you forgive the atmosphere, you have an excellent (but pricy) selection of local beers on tap across all genres, plenty for lovers of light, dark, hoppy, or smooth. You have a normal bar menu but you have those poutines, and really, those are meals in a basket. Look at the variety of ingredients! Meats, veggies, along with the standard potato and dairy, it's everything you want and it's delicious and oh so bad for your health but oh so worth the cheat day. May have to stop back here again when I revisit Troy. read more

One of the worst times we have had out in quite some time! Bartender was complaining about being hungover and not friendly at all. Flies landing on the bar. Food was terrible. The meat in the tacos was all fat and they were really greasy and the quesadilla was terrible. I hadn't been here in years but I owed a friend some wings and he suggested this place. Knowing how busy it can get, we come on a Tuesday night and despite a storm outside we made it. In fact, the weather might have kept some people away... though we still had trouble finding parking and had to leave our cars at the Taco Bell next door. We sat at the bar even though about half of the tables were open, and we were able to watch the crowd. Having had a bad day at work, I felt like this was as close to being Norm at Cheers as I will ever get. We ordered boneless barbeque wings and a Cheeseburger mac-and-cheese. The food came out about 20 minutes later and was pretty good. The wings, of which there were probably 25-30 pieces, were small (golf ball sized) and hard fried. Really hard... my friend repeatedly had trouble stabbing them with his fork... but I enjoyed the very crunchy exterior that lasted all night. A few pieces of carrots and celery were along for the ride, but I wish they had more. The mac and cheese was good, with large portions of ground beef chunks mixed in with red onion, white onion, and lets of cheese. I enjoyed this more than the last order of m.a.c. I had at one of their restaurants, but again next time I try a different flavor. Of note, we noticed some large bottles behind the bar with the Tipsy Moose sticker on them and asked what they were. Whisky... flavored with coffee; or peppermint; or cookie dough; or pumpkin spices; or I think cinnamon. None of those flavors sounded at all appetizing so we passed. I imagine cookie dough will be there for years! When we left it was mostly full and somewhat loud but the crowd was a mix of people of all ages, including young kids. I still continue to wish they would add a dessert menu to their offerings. All in all, we had a good time, and I will probably be back sooner rather than later. read more

I always try to find the positive. I cannot tonight. Absolute HORRIBLE takeout meal. My husband waited there for 20 minutes after the order was supposed to be done and we only live five minutes away, yet the food was ice cold. Forgot several items and even gave the wrong dressing that we were charged extra for. Called because of the missing items before we tried anything, and the manager refunded us. The only things that were right temperature were the growler and the salad (although the dressing was wrong). Burgers and one set of fries were overdone and freaking ice cold. The order must have been sitting in the kitchen. We will never go back. Absolutely horrible experience. My husband said he chatted with a Mealeo driver who was pretty upset about the delay and they heard from a server that their first priority is for the people in person. We wont bother with in person ever and the Mealeo driver was upset because the delay she had impacted her tip and while we did get a refund for the missing items, it doesn't make up for the subpar ice cold food experience when my husband was there 20 minutes waiting after the time the meal should have been done. And we ordered for a time that was an hour and a half later than our order time. Absolutely awful experience. read more

1st time here, ate lunch here with some friends form work. Wings were very good, crispy and tasty. My french dip sandwich pictured was delicious, very flavorful and the au jus was awsm. Our party of 6 had an absolutely amazing time at the Tipsy Moose for Sunday brunch. Knowing in advance that they opened at 10 and didn't take reservations, we got there at 9:45 and were able to get a table at 10. I had the mimosa flight. For 20 dollars I got an entire bottle of champagne and 4 cups of fruit purées (orange, mango, peach, and strawberry) to mix my champagne in. I definitely could have split it with someone but hey, I wasn't driving. I got the morning scramble for breakfast - sausage, back, scrambled eggs, gooey cheese, and potatoes all covered with a sunny-side up egg. It came in a sizzling hot skillet and was breakfast-y perfection. The portions were huge so I took half of it home and scrambled to eat it for dinner. Other things that were tried by our party: The Bloody Mary - my sister (a huge Bloody Mary fan) said it wasn't the best she's ever had. The mango mimosa - the same sister said she'd leave her fiancé for the mimosa. (They'd been engaged for a week at the time we went to the tipsy moose) Breakfast tacos - highly recommended by both people who tried them. Our waitress was fantastic and checked in on us repeatedly. I have not yet left. 3 star review on Yelp. Usually I love or don't love a place. But I found Tipsy Moose as meh. We were seated right away, the ambiance is great, I like that the drink menu is up on a big screen behind the bar and our waiter was fantastic! My husband and I ordered a sour beer each. Our waiter forgot to bring mine for about 10 minutes so I asked again and he brought it right away and comped it for the "trouble". He certainly didn't have to do that and was so kind. Now the meh part.... The food. We shared the artichoke dip and sausage gravy poutine which comes with fried chicken. The dip was a little skimpy. We ate all the dip and had more than 1/2 the chips left. For the price, I feel like they could double the amount of dip they give you. With the poutine, I enjoyed the taste of the seasoned fries. It I think they left it in the over a few minutes too long because many of the fried were very hard and inedible so we left about 1/2 on the plate. Will go back for a drink because I liked the drink menu, beer choices and ambiance but might skip the food next time. read more

Whenever I'm up in the Albany area, I always try to steer my friends into having Sunday brunch at a Tipsy Moose location. They simply make fantastic food and drinks. My go to is the Chicken and Waffles. This is a Belgian Style Waffle and Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Sausage Gravy poured on top, and served with a side of Sweet & Spicy Maple Syrup. The way the fried chicken comes out with the gravy poured on top makes it a great choice for brunch. Service is pretty good. The waiter we had was tentative and checks up on the tables at a reasonable amount and time. As far a social distancing, they're pretty much having us sit at every other table. All staff wears masks and they still give out paper menus instead of utilizing QR codes. read more

Quirky little place that takes pub food to the next level with a selection of Mac and cheese and pizza with a backwoods flare. As one of my first restaurants in the capital region, the Tipsy Moose certainly impressed! The place has a great beer and drink selection (including several sours which are my go to beer at places like this). The food was good- I highly recommend the poutine- it was amazing!!! The place has a very lively vibe for a restaurant and also has a cute bar section as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful from start to finish. Good music and good vibes. There is also an outdoor section that looked nice but it was raining the day we went. Overall I think it's a great place to go for date night or drinks with friends, and again you must try the poutine!! read more

Super slow. Even when not busy. Add 30-45 min for the quoted pickup times. Food is adequate but highly inconsistent. I'd hit up juniors for pizza, burgers or other pub standards. Poutine and Mac and cheese are decent so maybe the extra wait for those are worth it. read more

Please take my 3 stars as more like 3.5 - it is somewhere in the middle of OK and above average. I do feel that Tipsy Moose gets a little more praise than they are worth. People always rave about the food, which is good, but not anything better than is being put out by other elevated pubs in the area. I was looking forward to checking out the Troy location, since I tend to avoid the Latham location due to its size and lack of parking. To my surprise, this location is not much better. There is more parking, if you park in taco bells lot, which is fine, however the inside is still tiny. You would think with the success they have had at the first location, they would have sprung for a little more real estate in this location. Trivia Tuesday was packed starting at 6pm. There were people waiting by the door for a table and the tables were packed in there. Also a full bar, it was a crowded night. Unfortunately, they were also severely under staffed. I only really saw ONE waitress, and one other one employee running tables. Our waitress was very nice, and it was her birthday, but service came slowly. I had to flag here down while she was running between tables to get a refill on my drinks. On another note, I did enjoy my food. The highlight of my night here was (surprisingly) my starter caesar salad. It was perfect. The lettuce was super fresh and crisp, the dressing had a nice spicy bite to it, perfectly dressed, nice thick shreds of parm, I loved it. I also ordered wings, which I can't really resist at places like this. They were OK. *Buffalo Wing Critic Mode Coming Out* I ordered extra crispy, extra sauce, medium buffalo. They did come out nice and crispy, and there was a little extra sauce on the plate. The wings themselves varied in size quite a bit, so the larger wings were tender and tasty, and the smaller wings were dried out and brittle. Some wings were butchered poorly, but at least that led me to believe they were fresh wings. The sauce was, different. It had nice heat for a medium sauce, but I detected something sweet in the sauce, perhaps a hint of ketchup? The sauce was on the gloopy side as opposed to buttery. I thought it was a decent sauce, unique, but not my favorite. I am glad I tried them. They also have a good tap list, the food is decent, the service leaves something to be desired. I've come in here at night time and also for lunch and across the board the service is always mediocre at best. This is one of my go to spots. Great food. Great drinks. What every bar should be. They know how to make a balanced drink. Can't ask for anything more than that when it comes to a mixed drink. My beer loving buddies can vouch for what they have on tap. The Mac and cheese is served to you still in the skillet which is a nice touch. There's a variety of Mac and cheese flavors and they're all incredible for different reasons. Also, the poutine is to die for. You're going to want to order that as an appetizer. If you're with friends be ready for it to disappear quickly. It's just that good. Friendly and helpful staff along with a modern pub feel. I highly recommend you come to the tipsy moose. Let's start by saying the bartender was good, but it fell apart from there. I had water that was more flavorful than the French onion soup. It tasted much like bathwater then we had the mac & cheese, which was absolutely horrendous and dry. No flavor no seasoning just black overall just poor quality food. After taking a long break (years) from this restaurant because our meals were not good mostly because our food for take out during covid was burnt & the one time we ate in there the food was not good .. a crispy chicken sandwich basically had no chicken ... however last Saturday evening we found ourselves at another restaurant close by where the wait time for a table was longer than we wanted so we took a chance & had dinner here because there was no wait for a table of 6 ... This place is a solid 3.5 stars, but I'm willing to give it a soft 4. The French Onion burger was good; the meat wasn't super flavorful, but it wasn't bad. The bun didn't taste like garlic, even though it said "toasted garlic bun". The quesadilla was extra crispy, but we like ours crispy, so it wasn't an issue. They did have a lengthy beer menu, and a separate wine list (nothing super fancy). Atmosphere is laid back, with TVs on every wall - kind of like an Applebee's. My husband and I had a nice affordable night out; food was decent, service was good, and drinks were good. I could see going back for a late night snack or drink. read more

I came here with a group of friends for Trivia Tues night. I arrived early 5:45 and secured a table. The staff was friendly and didn't mind us hanging out waiting for our other members to get there. I've been craving pizza and wings so I ordered a custom pizza with pepperoni and cherry peppers. The pizza came with a thin crust and the toppings under the cheese. I did not know this is how Tipsy Moose makes pizza... The pepperoni was barely noticeable and the peppers had a nice heat but it was so loaded down with cheese you couldn't taste much else. I had seen a buffalo chicken pizza another table ordered and the chicken appeared to be on top but the pizza looked a little dry. I asked the waitress before ordering if I need to order anything special like extra crispy or extra sauce and she said no. I wish she had mentioned at that time that the toppings come under the cheese... The wings my husband ordered were okay and decent sized but the sauce was thick and gloppy unlike what we had at the Latham location. A friend ordered the fries with sausage gravy but the fries were soggy just like the Latham location. We had a great time with trivia and our waitress was friendly even though she was super busy. Parking was full even though we got there early. Overall it was fun but I'm not sure I would frequent them again for food. read more

too much food, it was good food, so 4 stars too! so, we (got this to go, I cant do inside yet!) this to go. started with the spicy cheese curds, why? raspberry sauce. this HAS to be an albany thing, i recall my days of yore when i would get mozzarella sticks raspberry sauce and ate the F out of them, so i was drawn to these. pretty good, more of a chicken fry coating than say a beer batter, which might have helped a bit, but they were pretty darn tasty. again, they also had a 15 minute drive back to the place to eat them so, you get what you get. i then also ordered a pulled pork mac and cheese, this is where i think i went wrong. its as big as a hubcap and its too much food! im eating it again for lunch the next day and i still have 2 pounds left! all in all, pretty good food and good value for take out all things considered. da moose read more

Had a pretty good experience last week, went with a group of 6. It was an odd time of day not busy but still took a bit to find out if we could push together some tables. All of the food was excellent and the beer list was as well and everyone found drinks they liked from the options available. The food was plentiful and we all left with leftovers. The only disappointment was everyone else's food came out at once and I waited an additional almost 10 minutes for mine to come out with no indication of the issue. Thankfully when it did come out it was very tasty, but everyone else was halfway through their meals and it would have been nice for someone to check in with me. read more

I didn't have the highest of expectations for the Tipsy Moose, but wound up very pleasantly surprised. A coworker and I stopped here for lunch and were happy to see it was steadily busy the entire time we were there. I hope that means it'll stick around a little longer than some of the previous restaurants on this site. The beer list is nice and I think there's something for everything here. I had the steak salad and was very pleasantly surprised to get a decent amount of steak, cooked to order (medium rare) over what seemed like a baking pan's worth of lettuce. To split hairs, I'd say that I would have liked to see more of the other "stuff" in the salad, but the steak was so juicy and had just the right amount of fat that I'd say I'd order again with no reservations. A lot of the menu seems like heavy comfort food and it all looked delicious as I looked around the restaurant. I'm glad the Tipsy Moose is here, hopes it stays, and will definitely be back. read more
