This would be exactly the type of place I'm always looking for when I just want to chill out if the music was a little lower. Just a small, unassuming, laid back bar atmosphere with some solid food. We started with the homemade mozz sticks. 4 large logs that were fried until the cheese was almost liquid. These were the main reason I wanted to come here and they were great. Next I got a Caesar salad. Unfortunately, I didn't care for the dressing on this and couldn't eat much of it. It just tasted like straight anchovies. Last I got one of the specials, a chicken parm sandwich. It came with a nice big cutlet, lots of sauce, and cheese on a ciabatta roll served with fries. I liked the sandwich a lot and the sauce went really well with it. The fries were obviously made in house because they were thick wedges. Not my favorite style but good if you are into that. They don't have a huge menu but it's got all the staples. Next time I go I definitely want to try the wings. read more

MCaddys is a cozy pub located downtown Troy. We've visited many times but never sat down for a full dinner. The bar was decorated and festive for Christmas and busy for trivia. The sandwiches were tasty, gooey grilled cheese and stacked high turkey club. We stopped in here during Chowder Fest to sample their corn chowder. While we really didn't like the chowder (very watering and not well seasoned), the atmosphere here is nice with plenty of room to spread out away from the bar and enjoy a quieter corner. They also have a patio that would be nice in the warmer weather. Bathrooms here were nice and clean and the staff was fine. Not sure I would return here to eat considering our experience with the chowder, but it is nice atmosphere to enjoy a drink. read more

Cool neighborhood bar with great food. The three of us were staying in a nearby Air BnB and stopped in for dinner and drinks. We had the spinach & artichoke dip, which was served with a grilled cheese for dipping, the pulled pork sandwich, hot wings and fish and chips. Everything was excellent. Soft Opening First Impressions: Existing in the ashes of Finnbars, McAddy's has risen -- Hitting hard on their soft opening. McAddy's currently gives off the impress of no frills pub-fare, which is a refreshing break from the current onslaught of restaurants opening up with niche, dressed-up menus. Sometimes I just want a simple bite and a beer! Their current menu is spare on options, but big on flavor. I've had the ruben, which easily placed stole my place for a go-to ruben in the Capital Region. Corn beef was excellent on it and sliced directly against the grain. Bread was toasty and full of rye flavor. Sauerkraut was sharp, but didn't weigh down the rest of the sandwich. A basic sandwich done right. I've also had the mozzarella sticks, which were spot on. Can't skip the melba. Still, I can't help but feel like this is just Finbar's with a different time. Even the receipts still say Finbar's. I'm not sure why the identity crisis bothers me a bit, but I'm sure it will be figured out by McAddy's in due time. Cheer McAddy's; keep blazing the way for real pub food! We stopped in here for a drink while checking out the weekday night life around Troy last night. The atmosphere was cool, they had trivia going on (for the life of us we didn't know where it was actually taking place, we never checked the patio but the guy was over a loudspeaker around the entire first floor I think.) The bartender was nice, service was good and quick. We went upstairs to check out the "game room" and we were pleasantly surprised!! They had skee ball, darts, and pool! The upstairs was empty except for us, probably because it was Wednesday night around like 9pm. It was fun for sure and we will definitely be back. read more

Went for a drag show brunch on Mother's Day. Show was fun, though the dj kept the music too loud for comfortable conversation between sets. Great staff, very clean place including restrooms. Charming courtyard too. I think this event may have been catered, but we had excellent food. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a favorite pub! read more

Had the loaded bacon mac and cheese. It tasted like they used real cheese and I appreciated the use of thick cut bacon pieces and not crumbled bacon. Also had their fresh cut fries which were fried to the right crispy level and had a nice seasoning. The good thing about the meal is that it was not an oversized portion and still hit the spot. Went here for lunch on a Saturday and had a great first visit. The service was stellar and hit the mark as both attentive and personable. Nice environment, but this review is about the food only. The wings and fish/chips were good but the kid's grilled cheese needs some work lol..The server took one look and took it off the bill. The only person working was the bartender she came over with absolutely no personality asked us if we wanted food, we checked out the menu and ordered macaroni and cheese chicken wings and a Reuben . I had a draft beer that was semi warm and the others had soda. The macaroni and cheese was probly the best of all 3 items but not really great overall, the chicken wings were and looked disgusting . they were made with some kind of whiskey rub and the Reuben was very Unappealing and tasted horrendous Service was non existant. This is a first hand account of my trip here shortly after they opened. It was terrible. The food for our entire group was burned. When we complained they tried to tell us it was supposed to be like that. It literally turned to ash in our hands lol. In fairness they did take some stuff off the bill. Unfortunately the were not able to do seperate checks for our large group and we literally had to sit there with pen and paper dividing it all up. They only had one waitress and everything took forever. They wouldnt let us order because the kitchen was backed up. This was a Tuesday and it was not crowded. It was unusually dark inside. Finbarrs (prior owners) couldn't stay open and this place did everything worse than Finbarrs. Hope they turn it around but not a good start. read more

We went to Troy to eat lunch and unintentionally ended up at McAddy's and were very happy we did. We had been to this establishment a few years ago and did not come to realize until after we sat at the bar that it was not actually the same place as it has now been under new ownership for a couple years. Our experience was still great if not better than it was since the last time we were there. They had a nice selection of beer on tap. All the beer on tap was listed on a chalk board categorized by type of beer, e.g. sour, ale, wheat, dark, etc, and they had a few listed under each type. We were still undecided on which beers to get so the bartender was happy to give us some samples to taste test which was extremely helpful. The menu had quite a few things on there that looked really good. They also had a specials menu that the bartender told us they rotate out monthly. I decided to go with the goat cheese grilled cheese sandwich on the specials menu. It was so delicious. It had bacon and apple on it that complemented the goat cheese perfectly. It also came with a cup of tomato soup that was thick enough to easily dip the grilled cheese into. My boyfriend had the whiskey chicken quesadilla. Also very good according to him. Overall very happy our original lunch choices fell through and we ended up at McAddy's. The service was exceptional and we had quite a few good laughs while we were there. I had lunch here last week and was very impressed. The food was good. Had been there when it was Finbars and I always liked the spot. I heard that the new owners are doing more with the place like live music and trivia nights. My only suggestion would be to track down the recipe for Finbar's french fries- they were incredible! McAddy's is a relatively new pub in Troy, and the interior ambiance is both friendly and inviting whether you're heading to the bar or for a bite to eat. Their wings were delicious and the loaded bacon mac and cheese is worth it. It's also in a centrally located area and the parking garage is right around the corner. It's also a brief walk to the Riverfront Park and Monument Square for anyone wanting to go on an after-dinner stroll. Well done! read more
