This time was better! I went per a recommendation for some hygge holiday decor and it served! Our waiter was great and the drinks were cute and tasty. My husband loved his BLTea which was huge! I got the soup of the day (black bean, chicken and corn soup) and dipping fries for my meal and I was full happy. The only thing I would say, is the menu choices could be better for me. I wanted a salad with a protein. Salad is $17 and to add, at the cheapest, chicken is $7 making for an expensive salad. I'd like them to add a salad that includes a protein initially but otherwise will return.

The food was delicious, the drink selection was extensive and the staff was courteous, kind and on point! Highly recommend and hope to come back soon!

We stopped in with a group of 12 to have some Din-din before the King and Country concert at the MVP Arena. First....drinks are great from beers to cocktails. Everyone enjoyed their drinks and I especially loved my "espresso martini ". I don't remember what it was called but it was good. Second....appetizers were also good but average. One thing tho, they have fries with multiple sauces. If you're a French fries lover like me then get that. Nice change from ketchup I got a really delicious burger. We were in such a rush I forgot the name but it was great. Hubs got the fish and chips. Not great. It was just greasy and bland. The waitstaff was great. Checked on our large party often which is nice. Also we were in the room upstairs and it's a cozy place. We basically took over up there because we met other friends so our party kept growing.

Amazing service! Walking distance from our hotel. We got the Kedgeree with tofu, which was delicious - but a tad more red pepper flake would have put it over the top! We also ordered a class cheese burger with the most delicious fries! The inside looks just like you were in an old English pub. They had some great beers on the menu, but the dessert menu was lacking with only 3 options - carrot, chocolate or cheese cake. Can't say enough good things about our waitress. She was on point and very friendly! Would recommend!

We loved it so much that we had to go back the next day to try some more ;) We ordered BLTea and chicken pot pie for dinner and they were absolutely amazing! The chocolate cake for dessert was perfect. We had our 9-month old with us and our server was very accommodating and kind. We went back for my husband's birthday brunch and the seating upstairs was so cozy and loved the ambiance. They gave him a big cup of beer (of his choice) so that was really nice. Highly recommend their fish n chips and traditional English breakfast as well.

Great service! Sat at the bar and Emerson took great care of us. Cute little building located downtown. Great live music and great people!

Came in before our tour of the USS Slater. We would not pass up having lunch in 300 year old building. We enjoyed our lunch very much! I got the French Onion soup with a side of potato salad. I also got the spiced apple margarita. It was the cheesiest , most flavorful French onion soups I've ever had. I eat a lot of French onion soup too. The croutons were so flavorful. And the bread that came with it was light and toasty. Just perfection. My husband got the bangers and hash. He said the sausage was flavorful. The hash was soft with a nice crisp. The gravy wasn't too heavy. He got the Boddington beer. He said it was flavorful and not too heavy. I'm so jealous we don't have this place in Boston. Yes we have our own old pubs but really this place is fantastic.

A nice relaxing pub with great, friendly service, outdoor and indoor seating, some English beers on tap and great pub food. The fish with the fish and chips had a nice crunchy batter, the bacon butty on toast was properly executed. Not a light sandwich. All in all, a pleasant place for drinks and food in downtown Albany.

This was the perfect place to be for lunch on a crisp, sunny autumn afternoon. I've been to this lovely historic building before, but I don't recall ever stopping in for a meal. Hats off to the fry cook. What a great fry job. As a foodie and sometime health nut, fried food isn't a regular part of my diet, but everything that jumped out at us from the menu was fried. Perhaps it's also part of the bar food culture. Anyway, Olde English is famous for its Fish & Chips, so my husband put in an order for that. There was also an appetizer called Chicken Tikka Croquettes. They were essentially chicken and potato meat balls seasoned with Marsala which we had to try. We shared the delicious meal and barely managed to finish it. The batter on the cod fish was different. It wasn't breaded. It was beer-battered. In fact, there was on so thick I felt as though I was eating fish encased in zeppoles. To me, that was a great thing. I love zeppoles, but it's been years since I've had them. I can tell you that the coleslaw was great, too. I'm fussy about slaw. I can also tell you that the slaw was so good that my husband was reluctant to share, but he did. The fries were wonderfully crispy and so were the croquettes. While I enjoyed the latter, I actually had more than I needed. I washed it all down with some Allagash White, which tasted great. We actually ate at the bar, because at first we weren't sure if we would stay for lunch, but we're glad we did. We look forward to coming back. Next time, I'd like some Bangers & Mash. Both our bartender and the server who assisted her were attentive, well informed and very welcoming. The drinks and food arrived quickly. The antique decor on both floors is beautiful. Even the ladies room is lovely. The antique pictures on the walls and the metal bathroom door handle that looks like an alcohol bottle are a nice touch.

I'm really glad I research where I'm going! Dining at the place was so interesting. It is such a cute, quaint spot. We enjoyed learning about the history of it and looking through the decor. The food and service were also good. We ordered the fish &chips and BLT. Both came with a HUGE portion of steak fries. The tartar sauce with the fish was really good (which I am picky about). I am so glad we enjoyed a lunch at this historic restaurant.

Fish and Chips - ours had way too much breading but was still delicious.

The place is cute and they have a nice patio. However service was painfully slow. Average food that is overpriced.

We arrived on a Saturday night around 6PM and there were three people at the bar. By the time we left around 7PM, there had been at most nine people including us. Either it was an off night or it is a quiet bar. The bartender was friendly, though he accidently forgot to bring our drinks and I had to remind him 15 minutes later. We ordered wings and loaded fries, and food came up relatively quickly. From what I understand, the kitchen guy was new. It showed in the fries, which were cooked but not crispy at all. It was like eating a loaded baked potato... not bad, but not fries. (They took them off the bill- thank you!). The wings were good and varied in size, though of our 10 Buffalo wings only one was a drumstick. I like flats so it was okay with me, but odd. We later ordered 10 more wings and my wife said she liked the Lemon-Pepper seasoning. They have happy hour specials from 5-8 which is nice, though three items were out by the time we arrived. I would have loved to try their maple-bacon wings but they had no maple syrup. In the room next door was a pool table and it might be fun to play sometime if we come back.

New owners, new review…read more There was an everchanging group of friends who would gather weekly, prior to Covid, on a Friday evening at an establishment down the street from the Washington Tavern (better known as WT's to regulars) for a drink or two. Once a year on the Saturday before the St. Patrick's Day parade these friends would shift to WT's for what was known as "corned beef day." With new ownership of WT's it was about time that a call was put out to those friends to reunite. WT's was now the ideal place. Arriving on a Thursday at 4:30 we quickly realized that they didn't open until 5PM. They were kind enough to let us have a seat inside until the bar and kitchen were open and operational. They were not aware of our planned gathering so I will not nitpick about any service. In fact, the bartender who also acted as our server did a miraculous job handling the drinks and separate-check food orders for what grew to about 15 people in the backroom by the kitchen. Kitchen staff also did a wonderful job of getting the food out in a respectable time for our unexpected gathering at the start of their day. All the food I saw coming to our table looked inviting - wings; smashburgers; flatbreads; and someone's salad. I had a pint of Guinness with a Southern Smash burger ($16). There was plenty of flavor and a mix of textures as I took my first bite into the soft roll surrounding the smashed beef patty, a crunchy onion ring, fresh leaf lettuce, sliced tomato, American cheese, and a sweet BBQ sauce. Even the pickle spear on the side was tasty. A true surprise was what I believe were house-made potato chips - so crunchy with an herbed dusting that escapes me but helps to make them addictive. I foresee additional gatherings here in our future.
