Went to the Broken Inn yesterday. A long hot saturday spent in the beaming sun, All I wanted is some nice, cold, creamy ice cream. But guess what I got stuck with GRAINY CHOCOLATE VANILLA. Absolute 0 taste since 0 of it was mixed!! I will NOT be coming back. Very disappointed. Do better Broken Inn.

Cute & comfy backroom dining area.

We remembered that The Broken Inn serves basically sandwiches and appetizers, and that was what we were in the mood for. Our Sunday 5ish arrival found the place mostly empty with more staff than customers. Needless to say, service was prompt and friendly. The bar area has high-top tables with coin operated gumball machines filled with M&Ms located beneath each high-top. The backroom dining area is several steps lower than the bar and offers comfortable booth seating away from the bar's TV. We were promptly provided with a refillable bottle of tap water to serve ourselves with as we perused the menu. FYI, Niskayuna water tastes good. Man (and woman) does not live on water alone, so we ordered a Diet Pepsi ($3) and a Guinness draft ($8). Both of us decided on The Broken Inn Burger ($18) - an 8 oz. patty topped with homemade "jam" (bacon, real maple syrup, & caramelized onions), lettuce, tomato, onion, and choice of cheese (we both chose cheddar over American, Swiss, or provolone). While Fries are included, my wife subbed Sweet Potato Fries ($1). Both of our patties were cooked beyond the requested medium-rare in our opinion, but the meat was still juicy. The inclusion of the "jam" made for slippery contents within the fresh brioche rolls. While the burgers were tasty overall, the jam does not give you a bacon-forward taste like whole strips of bacon. The caramelized onions provide an occasional crunch which is a welcomed texture juxtaposition. The fries were good, especially the sweet potato fries. I can see us returning to try some of their sandwiches. Note: They only accept cash, and 3% of each purchase goes to a Niskayuna cause.

Niskayuna was in need of a "Cheers" lots of locals are always saying we need somewhere we can walk to and enjoy food and drink and meet up with friends. Well this is the place. This place is located in Old Niskayuna which is an area where there are a lot of residential homes with sidewalks! We arrived at around 6pm on a Friday night and it was busy but we got seated right away!.. The decor was lovely lots of memorabilia, old booths, signs, vintage bar very charming. Our server Erica came over and we recognized her.. a friend of a friend!... just like in Cheers!! Thank you Erica for the great service! She took our drink orders, sangria & beer and gave us some time to look over the new menu. DH ordered a reuben - $16 served with sauerkraut, swiss and russian on rye side of cole slaw and a pickle... he said it was good and huge and I ordered turkey club - $16. Large amount of delicious roasted turkey and Hellmans mayo (I know because I had Erica check in the kitchen :)) in between. Cole slaw & a pickle too. We ordered a side of fries... DH has to have his fries... All -n- all every thing was good but not exceptional.. I think eventually things will get better maybe some specials. The best part its close by home. We do have to drive but only for about 10 minutes.

Small place with big personality & even bigger sandwiches! I have been here a few times already. I haven't tried brunch, but heard good things. They have a good selection at the bar. Wine pours are good size. The staff is all very personable. Soft serve year round too! On top of it all, they are very involved with the community. It is cash only, but part of the sales is donated to a local cause every month. Follow them on fb & learn more.

Great portions and reasonable pricing. The fact that a part of sales goes to local causes is even better! I can't wait to see how everything is once the opening weeks kinks are worked out.

    Reuben Sandwich and moscow mule

This place is very unassuming from the outside but the inside is very nicely decorated and has a cozy feel to it! The waitstaff was super friendly and funny, and they made an amazing flavored mule for me. Their sandwiches are HUGE and you get a lot of food for a single order. I'd definitely come back here again!

Turkey club sandwich is HUGE !!!!

If you're a seafood lover, they do a great job with their seafood dishes. The table next to us ordered shepherds pie and it looked and smelled amazing, I could hear them raving about it. We started with the seafood stuffed mushrooms, and we're starving so forget to take a picture. The portion was generous and plenty for 2-3 people to share. I ordered the seafood boil which was a special and it was so flavorful, loaded with garlic and a side of drawn butter. My husband ordered the seafood fra diavolo, it was loaded with seafood and had a very good sauce.

Back in the day they would have pizza brought over from their pizza shop across the street bud the pie was good. Fast forward to our trip this year. It was our 19th year wedding anniversary and the wife and I were looking to try something new. The pictures from the food looked great so I figured this was worth a shot. Upon arrival we were greeted very warmly and the bartender and waitress were both warm, friendly, and it was all very natural like we just walked into there home. The place is decked out in craft Irish stuff but it was just at patty's the week before we had gone but I imagine that is a typical look there. We both had a dirty martini which was made very well and the waitress served them table side with the remainder left in the glass fir us to pour ourselves. Very nice touch! We had scallops wrapped in bacon and a French onion soup as an app. Both were good but the soup was a bit cold so we asked to have it warmed up. The staff handled it well they didn't make a huge deal and just got us a nice hot soup with no excuses or rambling on about this "this never happens" or "staffing issues". On to dinner. I had the steak Au Poivre with mashed and veg. All of it was done well and the portion was perfect. The wife had chicken piccata which had a great egg batter on it and a nice white wine butter sauce. We also ordered some Togo meals for the kids and they enjoyed them as well. They had boneless wings, a burger, and a chicken parm sub. I would definitely recommend this place for a medium priced dinner and drinks. Very friendly staff and the place was super clean and well put together. We will be going back!

From the moment we met Jocelyn and Jared and tasted their food, we knew they were the right caterers for us. From the freshly baked sourdough Roman-style pizza and the seafood paella to the fried chicken, brisket, and everything in between, these two know how to prepare amazing food for large groups of people, serve it fresh and hot, and make your wedding feel like their only priority. Let's start with the wedding itself. Their range of menu options and bar service is so vast that you will surely find what you're looking for. And if you don't, they are more than willing to adapt to your desires. We worked together to create the best menu for our big day and it came together perfectly. The photos you see online are real. The food is not only delicious but served beautifully. And they work with the Owls Hoot Barn (among other venues in the area) all the time so have everything perfectly coordinated with the venue. We also hosted our Friday night welcome party and Sunday family brunch at their pub, and it was the perfect location, set five minutes from where our guests were staying. They were so hospitable and accommodating and went the extra mile to prepare the venue for our guests and make it the most beautiful, special spot for these moments. Not to mention the food, which was amazing. Their fee includes everything, so there are absolutely no surprises. Their staff is wonderful. They do it all, from food to the bar, from small gatherings to large affairs. We feel like family and look forward to eating at their pub for many years to come. Thank you Jocelyn and Jared, for making our wedding weekend so special.
