We have not been for quite awhile. We had just finished a wonderful historic event held at both the Schuyler Mansion in Albany and the Crailo historic site in Rensselaer (go to these places. Super interesting history.) We decided to stop in for a drink. When you come in, the first thing you notice is the gorgeous, vintage bar. Yowza! We sat at the bar and were greeted by bartender Jordan. Super friendly and makes a fine old fashioned! Perfect music in the background playing and nice people at the bar for fun cocktail chatting. Check out this local gem!

The best thing about this restaurant is its clever name. It aspires to be an English/Scottish pub, but it falls short in the ambience department. It's pretty much like every otter gastropub I've been to. The service was tremendously slow. It took about an hour to get our drinks when there was only one other couple in the place, and then the food came probably 45 minutes after that. There was only one person working, sadly. I'm not sure if this is an oversight by management or this is customary for the restaurant. I had the $18 smashburger, which I felt was overpriced. Some friends had other things that were extremely adequate in taste, but nothing special. It evidently has a wonderful selection of bourbons, so if you like bourbon, and you're not in a hurry, you could give it a try.

Grilled cheese, mashed potatoes, and pretzel bites

The place was busy which was surprising given it was only like 4:30pm. I liked my grilled cheese and mashed potatoes. The mash in particular was very tasty. My mom wasn't a fan of the pretzel and sauces though. The place was cute, well decorated. I would come back.

Dismayed by wait staff. Totally arrogant girls work here, who snub their nose at clientele. Fire 'em. You are hemorrhaging diners. Wait 'til they read this review.. It's bar food. Beers come in a collection of bric-a-brac glasses (it never matches, what's in the glass). When I ate here, the bar-brat klonked the plate down and walked off in a fit. Never even asked, if it's good. Big mistake - because that's the ONE (only - even if the food is shit, I'll say it's fine) thing I care about. Always! Ask. Me. About. The. Food. Capito?? Just a quick: "Everything okay?".. and guess what? I'll leave a 30% tip. Just 'cause you're inquisitive! Not here. Loch and Quay, has the politeness of a horse stall. Which is probably where the delinquent bar-snot should relocate.. Review: 2

Half order of spinach artichoke dip and buffalo chicken wing dip
    Sara P.

Visited while in Albany for a business. It was near our hotel and had good reviews so we decided to check it out, and we were glad we stopped by! The place had a fun bar vibe, with a big old wood bar. The staff was friendly. The menu had a variety of sandwiches, paninis, and other typical bar food. We wanted an appetizer and were having a hard time deciding between spinach artichoke dip and buffalo chicken wing dip, but I loved that they had an option where you could get a half order of each so we didn't have to choose! I was going back and forth but ended up choosing the chicken pesto panini and I was happy I did, it had good flavor. My husband had seen the cottage pie on the menu when looking online and had his heart set on it. He was happy at his choice, and it definitely looked hearty. I have traveled to this hotel a few times for work, and this place is in walking distance, I would definitely consider coming back again, and recommend you give it a try if in the area, especially if in the mood for pub fare!

Great little spot to grab lunch on the road. Deli sandwiches and burgers hit the spot. Tiny place, be warned fries aren't an option! Still perfect for lunch. Gluten free bread available.

I was in Albany for a little while, waiting for a bus to take me to NYC, so I had some time on my hands with my family to get a bite to eat. I got a bloody mary and a Caesar salad. The food was delicious, it all came quickly, the restaurant was pretty cool, and you could even see the cooks in the kitchen through the door making your food. We all had a pretty great experience and enjoyed our time there even though it was short. I would definitely recommend that anyone come here if they need somewhere to go for a quick bite, whether because they're waiting for a train, on a lunch break, or relaxing with friends/family. I can see myself coming back here if I'm ever in Albany again.

Basic burger with Swiss and side salad

Stopped in for lunch. The bartender Deshawn was handling the whole place very efficiently. He did the tables inside and outside as well as the bar. Quick and friendly service!! I had the basic burger with Swiss with a side salad. I'm not much of a burger person but he recommended it and it was delicious. Cooked perfectly. Fresh lettuce, tomato and onions. The pickles were really good too - a little tangy.

Roast Beef Club Sandwich with Macaroni Salad

This place is tiny but very quaint! Lots of alcohol too! There was one server for the whole place so it takes awhile to get your food. Otherwise, she was super friendly. The sandwiches were delicious! They were not heavy. We ordered the macaroni salad as our side and it was soooo good. I'm not a Big Mac salad fine but this was perfect. If you're not into macaroni salad, you can order a bag of chips or a salad as the side. I would come here to try the other items on the menu.

    The George

I can't believe I hadn't been to Loch & Quay before! My wife and I came in at lunch on a Saturday before going to an event at the nearby MVP Arena. We sat at the bar and talked to the very friendly bartender/server. She recommended The George burger to me, which I promptly ordered and it was a great recommendation. It was a perfectly messy burger - I'll be honest, I switched to a fork and knife after a few bites - and it came with a pickle spear and bag of chips. Their beer menu is pretty impressive, especially if you count their can list alongside of it. We didn't try their cocktails, but I was definitely tempted by their Betty White Russian (R.I.P.). It isn't a large space so I can imagine it might get a bit crowded and hard to find a seat during busier times, but I enjoyed it when it was a bit quieter. We'll definitely be back soon!

First, your Brunch menu and food are excellent, when we finally got our food - after roughly an hour of waiting - I was instantly reminded of why Dove and Deer is great - bold flavors, excellent preparation, gorgeous plates all in a city that desperately needs it. Second, I really felt bad for the 3 people responsible for running an entire restaurant on a Sunday (two waiters and one person in the kitchen). They did their absolute best, were so kind and apologetic, but obviously completely stressed out and frazzled. Tables got up and left after waiting for someone to get back to them - and we almost did too. It's unfair to restaurant staff to put the burden of running an entire place on them. I get if someone called off and you're short staffed 1 or 2 people, but did everyone call off? Besides 3 people? Come on. You have a real opportunity to be a go to brunch destination, my advice is to staff appropriately and give it a real go or risk customers not getting to experience the greatness that is your food - and taking their dollars to someplace far more mediocre. The only reason this isn't a 2 star or 1 star review is because of how hard your staff tried, and how good your food is (when it finally shows up).

The bar tender, Noah, was impressive and friendly in that he knew his liquor stock very well, and could explain the flavor intricacies of the various types of bourbon, vodka, and gins. They also offer some non,-alcoholic beverages for the "designated driver" of the group too. We watched Noah make everything from regular and "dirty martinis" with fresh ingredients, as well as one drink where he used a butane lighter and some tiny cedar chips in a straining tool above the drink to give it a fresh, authentic smoky look and flavor. Noah knows his stuff!!!!! The patrons were friendly, diverse, and easy to socialize with if you chose to do so. The establishment is pet friendly for "socialized pets" with a water bowl outside the establishment and some free Milkbone treats inside. Keep in mind that this establishment is a "tasting room" with the majority of products from the New Scotland Distillery, but there are other options. Just don't expect to get a Bud Light Draft or food here. The only downside is that parking in the Lark Steet and State Street location is difficult to obtain without some effort, but we managed to park our vehicles 2 blocks away. This is not a direct criticism of the establishment because the experience is well worth this minor potential inconvenience. We would definitely go back there again, especially for the specialty drinks or the flights and half flights of their bourbon and vodka products. Thank you once again, Noah, for a pleasant and educational evening!!!

I'll be honest - my heart sank as we got there, I almost cried. The neighborhood is *sketch*. The outside of the restaurant didn't look like much - but I felt better once we got in. Beautifully decorated with great lighting, lounge-style atmosphere. Great Latin music. We sat on the bar side as it was less busy. Beautiful bar with lots of options! Bartender made us **amazing** margaritas... omg were they strong! Loved it! Since we had never been there before, we played it safe. First we went with a fried calamari appetizer - not the best, but not bad - but then it's not typically something you'd order at a Mexican food restaurant. Boyfriend had the street steak tacos as main - hold the cheese as he forgot his lactaid, lol - and I had the steak quesadilla. Delicious! We loved it. The steak was especially well seasoned, not overcooked and sides were yummy. We ended the evening with churros - definitely homemade and on par with the ones we love at El Mirador in NH. Boyfriend even took his life in his hands and had some of the ice cream, couldn't resist - it was that good! Overall, as Boyfriend put it - this is absolutely a hidden gem type of spot - service was spectacular, food was delicious and we would totally return! Yes, you can make reservations which is what we did to ensure we would have a table on Friday night. It wasn't necessary but with a larger crowd it is a must if you are expecting to get seated otherwise you may just have to rely on luck. We had a variety of eaters in our group but Savoy was able to accommodate all. Appetizers. Soups, salads, burgers, and even hotdogs most menu items can be customized to be made vegan. This often means omitting the cheese. And here is where I think this should have been a five star experience but they lost me on this... burgers can substitute a Beyond patty for an additional $3, infact, the only burger on the menu made entirely vegan is the "Far Beyond Lark" with fries which was price at $24. Literally the most expensive burger on the menu. It's 2026, the cost of Beyond or Impossible meat is almost the same as beef. Why are vegans still being penalized to pay a higher price when dining out? If anything make the vegan burger the same price as the others and add a $1 substitution fee to make any of the others vegan with vegan cheese, Beyond burger patty, and vegan mayonnaise. Just a thought. All the burgers come on a lovely toasted brioche bun but because it contains egg, the vegan substitute is a sad gluten free bun of dispare and remorse. The cauliflower wings were delicious, I got Nashville Hot but something in them almost gave me Indian food vibes like a curry of some kind? The fries are the absolute best, I love a basket of good hand cut French fries. The guys at the table who ordered their burgers enjoyed them, although they needed extra napkins but that's not always a bad thing. Overall, great experience! I would love to go back. I hope to see in the future a menu change to be more inclusive of customers on a plant-based diet considering their health and not how deep their pockets are.

The building itself is impressive, although maybe not quite as impressive as the castle-looking building next door. Our party of seven settled in at the bar as there otherwise did not seem to be a large enough table for all of us to gather around in either the main lounge area or a small room off to the side. The dark wood paneled walls, large fireplace, assortment of easy chairs, couches, and high desktop table gave off a feeling of warmth and welcoming. The friendly bartender introduced herself (sorry I've forgotten her name) and informed us that spirit-wise, the bar was capable of preparing the standard, traditional drinks like Manhattans, martinis, etc. All beers were poured from cans, and at my request, she recited the names of about six that were available. I don't believe anyone in our party inquired about the wines that were available. The building simply calls out for an explanation of its history. Upon our request, the bartender offered to provide either the "brief" or "full" option. We requested the full history. She was obviously well up to the task. You would be amazed at the variety of things you could learn here. Just to touch on a few key topics that were mentioned, consider Alexander Hamilton's wife, puffed rice, Bab-o cleanser (cue up the jingle), Bishop Gibbons, and an orthopedic surgeon. I don't know what the normal food arrangements are in the Lounge. I'm guessing that our out-of-town hosts requested some snacks for us as a few bowls appeared with mixed nuts, crackers and cheese, fresh grapes, humus, and warm pretzel/croissant rolls, and a plate of prosciutto wrapped cream cheese.
