I am a regular here because of the outstanding ribs. My grandsons and husband like them a lot. I had a holiday lunch here on a Wed. with my Book Club. I was looking forward to a bowl of French Onion Soup, but it was a disappointment. 3 stars at best. --The onion slices were not soft from a long sauté and not browned from proper preparation. --The broth was bland, and the bread pieces were mush. I ordered the appetizer Pub Ribs, and they were praise worthy as always. My friend enjoyed them as well. Another friend got a serving to go to bring home to her husband. The small salads were good. Their balsamic dressing is tasty. The Pumpkin Soup was a hit. One friend got the Gobbler Sandwich. It was about seven inches tall. She was surprised. You certainly could not take a bite sandwich style. The height came from the large amount of lettuce on top of the turkey. Another enjoyed a very good Reuben and coleslaw. Service was good at first since we arrived right at opening. Later, server was busy with other tables. She refilled cups of coffee but not water glasses. Our table was bussed mid lunch to remove used plates. Big issue: Two stars for the ambiance. Six of us were seated at a large round table in one corner of the main dining room. I have always been a big fan of this restaurant but my most recent visit it seemed like the food wasn't the same as it used to be. The quality wasn't there. The taste was off and it just wasn't the wonderful experience that I have always had here. While I have never had a bad meal here and would certainly state how good everything is, the bartender who is regularly there is beyond rude, disrespectful and classless. Every 2-3 words out of his mouth is an F-bomb. He insists ppl order drinks before even handing them a menu for good. Customers have walked out stating they didn't come there to be mistreated and/or disrespected. He complains (by cursing and speaking loudly & negatively) when families / ppl with children are seated near the bar, making it extremely uncomfortable for the customers and impossible for the family to enjoy a meal out. This has now happened 2x to us, so despite very much liking their food, we will never go back. For some reason, I think he's one of the owners, which if I'm right, the problem will only persist and if I'm wrong they should fire this guy immediately. He's disgusting and disgraceful! read more

Came here after my parent's hit a few buckets on the driving range. We were told it was a 45 minute wait but we were seated quicker than that. Service was great, our waitress was very nice and attentive. The wings are delicious here! The spud bites were also delicious! I got the bacon cheeseburger, very good, however the bun was a kaiser roll which I didn't realize. It was very interesting to have that with a burger, wasn't my favorite but my sister loved it with her burger. I was told the fish and chips are the best menu item. Fries are very good as well. It's still covid so we made a reservation because FB advertised they have music tonight from 5 - 7 ! It sure isn't gonna be the collage crowd cause they're still sleeping. They know their business cause the place was packed. We were seated right away not far from the guy playing the guitar... playing James Taylor type songs great for listening and enjoying dinner all in one. We sat in the back room previously a porch and in the past few years the owners enclosed it with windows. Except for the little to bright lights the room is just great. Clean, newly remodeled and will hold maybe 75 or so people. All servers had on masks according to CDC rules and customers too until they were seated to eat. We have to follow the rules until we are finished with this darn pandemic! DH ordered a beer and I ordered a Downeast Cider @ $10. ish and a Duo half soup half chicken salad sandwich and a cup of mushroom soup $9.49. The soup was home made and the sandwich and all other menu items use Hellman's mayo my favorite! Not everyone uses it and they list in on the menu! That's a major plus. My how time flies. It's been over seven years since we've eaten at O&O's, and even longer since we've had their popular smoked ribs or pulled pork. Still not yet ready to experience an inside-dining experience and recognizing that the sun would be setting soon and contributing to a quickly dropping temperature outdoors, we opted for takeout. My wife decided on the Fish & Chips ($12.49) with Saratoga chips. The portion of haddock was plentiful with a nice thick, crispy batter coating. The Saratoga chips were fresh and crispy also. The only downside was our decision to do takeout meant that by the time I got the food home the fish had a more noticeable oily taste than it likely would have had if eaten hot from the kitchen. I ordered a Full House Combo ($27.49) consisting of a half rack of ribs, served with my choices of BBQ chicken and pulled pork, and choices of baked beans and Saratoga chips as sides. Our dinners also came with a freshly baked loaf of bread with an herbed butter. The bread was delicious enough that I ate the entire loaf by myself. Of course, that meant that I'd be leaving some portion of my meal for tomorrow. I made it through half of the ribs, they were very tender and tasty, a small portion of the BBQ chicken, all the pulled pork, just because I couldn't stop, and all of the baked beans. The chicken breast seemed a little dry, so that will likely be doctored up tomorrow. The leftover ribs I know will be delicious, whether reheated or not. They were obviously busy on a Friday night, as I overheard the hostess tell a phone caller that she didn't have an opening for the next two hours. But my order was ready when I arrived three minutes early. It was nice to have once again enjoyed our meal from O&O's. read more

I've never been to place in person so can't speak to ambience or service. However, as far as take away is concerned the salmon dishes I've ordered were so basic that it could have been cafeteria food. I ordered the chef's inspiration salmon which was dill and lemon. And all I want to know from the chef is, "Are you ok? Do you need help?" Was that inspiration from a depressive episode? If so, I feel for you. The salmon was dry AF, the baked potato was from the same desert and neither had any real flavor. I don't know about their other dishes but if this is any indication I won't be queuing up to try something else. read more

Otis and Olivers during covid distancing is a much more pleasant experience than my previous visit. Tables are spaced far enough apart so you enjoy your meal without a din from other diners. Being Good Friday I went with the special; a shrimp po boy. Truth be told (yes I was informed by our wait staff prior) it was a wrap rather than a traditional po boy. More importantly though, it was a tasty sandwich with a tiny bit of heat. Multiple fried shrimp with a cole slaw that is dressed with a habenero hint dressing stuffed into a tortilla wrap. It was good. Accompanying my sammy was my choice of fries. I prefer my fries closer to well done but these were ok and plentiful. Could have gotten cole slaw, saratoga chips, fries or mac salad. SO got the fish and chips. It's a large piece of white fish and tartar sauce and fries. Large parking lot, pleasant wait staff, reasonable prices and a view of two guys hitting balls. read more

The restaurant was a typical golf club restaurant. What I can say it was very spacious and nice inside. To start off. We went with a party of 4. 2 adults and 2 children, age 3 & 5. The menu was perfect for littles. They ended up getting a Cheeseburger, and Grilled Cheese sandwich. They loved both, and got vanilla ice cream for desert. And now for the adults. The drink menu was great. I order a dirty martinI, extra dirty - which they nailed... and a sloop juice bomb. My standard go to. The meal came with bread, and a awesome garlic butter. For appetizer we ordered pretzle sticks, which came with an awesome bacon and pub cheese. My wife ordered boneless wings with mild sauce. She thought it would be ok, our recommendation would be to order medium, as the mild eas VERY mild. For the main course i ordered full rack of ribs which basically fell off the bone. It was amazing. My wife ordered the veggie wrap which she said was excellent. The desert menu looked really good, but I can not comment in the desert as we were stuffed. Thought our kids ordered a scoop of vanilla ice cream, so they were happy Service wise. Everything was great. Our waitress was prompt and attentive. Otis and Oliver's is a beloved pub/tavern in Latham attached to a public golf course. I bet people love to stop by when they are done shooting 18 holes! I had heard from several sources that O and O makes great ribs. In fact they have been voted the best in the Capital Region. I came here to watch a football game (Go Bills!) with a friend and we dove in to their menu. What we discovered is that they are an old school tavern serving old school cuisine. They are certainly not "hip". We started with some draft beer. Which was flat. Major party foul there! We switched to Sam Adams in the bottle because, well, we could not justify ordering another draft. We ordered two apps, the Spud Bites and Hot Wings. The spud bites were essentially a pile of home fries covered with cheese, bacon and scallions, served with sour cream on the side. Props for using real bacon but nothing really inspired here. The wings were cooked perfectly and the hot sauce was manageable. I enjoyed the blue cheese. My buddy insisted their was loads of black pepper added to the sauce which he did not care for. Finally we ordered the famous ribs. It came with a choice of sides so we went with onion rings and I tried the lobster bisque. The bisque was quite good. A standard recipe that was well executed. The onion rings were standard from the bag frozen variety. The ribs? Best in the area? Not really. Pork and chicken can be cooked to the point where it falls a part but is devoid of flavor. When this happens to ribs it probably means they were steamed in a liquid too long. I can't prove it but I think they may parboil the ribs which is a big no no in my book. John Stage from Dinosaur BBQ writes in his cookbook about the tragedy of parboiling meat. The ribs at Otis and Oliver's were mushy and almost devoid of flavor. They fell off the bone but that does NOT make a good rib. The sauce was the bomb and they cooked the ribs under the broiler to create a delicious caramelized exterior. That is what people are drawn to. To grab a drink and a quick meal after golfing or while watching a football game this is a decent spot. The staff was super friendly too. Maybe they have some other menu items that score a culinary touchdown but Otis and Oliver's is a bit tired from my perspective. read more

We had lunch here after a round of golf at their Mill Road Acres course on Sun5/01/22. We sat in the bar area. Their outdoor deck are was closed this day. But all good where we had lunch. Server #14 brought menus and took our drink orders. Bloody Marys (2 @ $8.50ea.) were spicy & excellent, two bottled beers ($6.ea.), & a wine ($8.). Lunch was served in 20 minutes- cold orders were cold & hot orders were hot. My bride had the TUSCAN CHICKEN 12.99 grilled chicken topped with sautéed spinach, roasted red peppers, and fresh mozzarella cheese on a kaiser roll. Sister had a tuna salad platter ($12) & her friend had a bacon cheeseburger w/ onion rings ($15). I had a bowl of their house specialty CARIBBEAN WHITE CHILI 5.99 white beans, chicken, sausage, bacon, a hint of jerk seasoning, and topped with cajun cornbread crumble. Unique & excellent. What a perfect place to go on a miserable, dark, rainy late autumn night. We were looking for comfort food in a cozy setting and we found it here. We were seated right away in the bar area. The atmosphere was relaxed and filled with people's happy conversation. My son ordered the Monterey Chicken Sandwich which is grilled chicken topped with apple-infused BBQ sauce, melted provolone cheese, scallions, and shredded cheddar and monterey jack cheese. He chose fries as his side. The sandwich was well made with juicy chicken and a generous sprinkling of scallions and lettuce and tomatoes on top. The fries were average and not homemade but they were crispy and satisfying. My husband ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich described as tender pork shoulder with jalapeño BBQ sauce. He said was exactly how he expected it to be in a good way. He enjoyed the fries as well. I went for a Sirloin Steak Salad. I had a hard time choosing between homemade Blue Cheese or Balsamic Dressing. I chose the later and it turned out to be a good choice. The salad was fresh tasting with a generous amount of blue cheese anyway. The sirloin was tasty with a good steak flavor. Most of the slices were nice and tender with only a few having some undesirable grizzle. I enjoyed the portobello mushrooms and the tomatoes were nice and fresh tasting not always easy at this time of year. We were too full for dessert or coffee. This was a restaurant that my wife and I went to on one of our date nights. We got here and we had to wait for a table and it seemed like we waited an extremely long time and I noticed that the table that we sat at was already clear even though we had to wait. We were waiting for about 45 minutes before we were sat down. It was a very loud atmosphere and I wasn't too impressed with the server who also was the bar back because they were trying to balance their jobs between the two so it probably was not their fault. They had very cute decorations all over the place though and it was nice to look at. We ordered potato skins and they were really dry and had no flavor at all unfortunately they were not something I would ever order again. I had the Ruben and there was barely any dressing on it at all and it really didn't have much flavor to it either but it was okay. My wife's sandwich was pretty dry as well overall we weren't impressed with the experience but it was nice to be out and about and I never look at one experience as being the overall experience to a place. Before I wrote this review, I visited the Venue twice, once for Lunch and once for Dinner. Both visits were rewarding and enjoyed. For lunch I met with a retirement group and we had fun. I ordered the "Fish and Chips" with French fries and New England Clam Chowder. It was a huge piece of fish and fries with a choice of tarter sauce or Cocktail sauce. Fish was really nice and crispy just the way I like it. The chowder was also good, nice and thick and creamy. I started dinner with the French Onion soup which was topped with a good portion of cheese and extremely yummy. My choice for dinner was the broiled Scallops which was cooked in butter and wine, sautéed spinach and twice baked potato. Everything was cooked to perfection and was very tasteful. My wife had a combination platter consisting of roils and chicken, twice baked potato and vegetables. She also enjoyed her dinner! My only problems overall is that there were only 5 scallops with my dinner ($19.99) and the room was very loud so it was hard to hear our friends who we had dinner with. Maybe we picked a night when all the louder people decided to go out for dinner. On the positive side, our waitress was excellent and took great care of us. So the big question is would I return.... When we come up to Albany from the city, we always make it a habit to visit this place. This has been our third time here and everything we have tried has been delicious. This time around we came for the prime rib special. Although the prime ribs were a little overcooked, we all said we would come back for it again. We usually order the wings for appetizer but this time we opted for the spinach dip. We weren't a fan of it- personal preference. As my brother in law would put it, it "tastes like the fake cheese from 7-11". The waiter (Hi Noah!) was very nice about it and told the manager, who promptly came over to the table and let us know she would take it off the bill. Very nice of her to do!
