If you like dive bars then get ready to dive in! I thought twice once we walked in but one we got in the door we were welcomed by regulars and staff alike. The atmosphere is worn and dingy but the warmth and welcoming of the people are well worth the visit. We have driven by this place so many times while visiting Albany and thought no way I would go in there but we were looking for lunch and the reviews were so great we had to try them and I'm glad we did. We had the cheese Quesadilla and Mexican fries. Both were excellent. I really want to try the build a burger but unfortunately today is our last day in town . It's a dive bar that serves pretty good burgers and fries. Dive Burger? Everything is hearty. They serve water and/or soda in plastic pitchers...with straws, of course. I had the Salivator burger which had American cheese, fried onions, and Salivator sauce (Horseradish sauce and Russian dressing). Who knew that American and Russian would make a good combo? This place is amazing. Total dive bar. But possibly the best burger I've ever had in my life. The beef was fresh and delicious and the burger was huge. They were like eight slices of bacon on my burger. Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and Kenny Rogers have been playing on the sound system. I assume my dog feels the same way because she devoured her patty even after I mixed it into her food. Their burger building worksheets are clear and service was super fast. We almost missed this gem! The Build A Burger pub is inside Everyday pub. It's definitely a dive, but the burgers are the bomb!! We found this when staying in Albany for one night, after looking for food near our hotel. You can choose from the house special burgers described in the menu or create your own, making your selection on the provided order sheets on the table. Water or soda is served with a straw in a small pitcher, more than enough to go with the meal. Service was quick and friendly. If the name is Build a Burger, you must have a burger. I ordered a glass of water while I was waiting for my takeout. My "glass of water" was actually a mini pitcher with lots of ice and a straw. I was so thankful because I was helping someone move and it was super hot that day. I'm so glad we decided to give it a try. We accidentally drove past it on the first try, but honesty was easy to find I just distract easy. Had the cutest red Van with a fat boy statue out front. Bacon is extra, but that's really it. The pictures don't even do justice to how much food this was. The burger was humongous and packed with everything I love. The interior is what I imagined the 80's were like (90's baby here ) but in the best way possible. The service is always a familiar face and friendly. The menu is to the point, no frills. What a great find! We were performing for an event in Albany and found this place while searching. We were all intrigued and had to give it a try. When we arrived it was just as pictured. We were a group of 10 so I went in to make sure the group size wouldn't be a problem. I was informed that everything was made to order so it may take a little time and that meals would come out as they were prepared. No problem! I decided to get cheddar cheese, bacon, and their homemade sub sauce on my burger. It was all-around delicious. The burger was juicy and the beef was tender and flavorsome. In addition, the bun was toasted and had great taste. The highlight of the burger was definitely the sub sauce. It was similar to a Russian dressing, but it was even better. The sauce was sweet and went great with the burger. Contrarily, they put way too much bacon on the burger and I couldn't taste anything else. I simply removed most of it, but they need to put less on. To flip the script, the fries were respectable. They were crispy and seasoned. It was my birthday and I wanted to go out to eat. However, previous years' experiences were disappointing (bad food, not acknowledging my birthday after ID'ing me, etc.) and the place high on my list is currently closed. So, I picked here. I knew it was a dive, and I knew I wasn't getting "fine dining." We came here on a rainy Friday evening after calling first to confirm that they were open, had indoor service, and made their own fries (some pictures on Yelp show frozen steak fries). All were yes, and upon arriving we were seated in a booth all by ourselves without another soul for 20'. Five or six others were seated at the bar. All the tables had televisions which were tuned in to the Lottery network, and two other TVs had a golf game on. However, one TV behind me was playing old music videos. In the course of 45 minutes we got two CCR songs (Hey... it was John Fogerty's birthday too!), Cindi Lauper, and Dire Straits with a Bon Jovi chaser all mixed in with weird nineties songs. An eclectic mix, but it was that or watch lottery balls drop. The interior was painted dark black on the ceilings, and we wondered if it was an old disco club or something in a previous life. We ordered their burger/fry specials. They have a lot of toppings to choose, including vegetables and cheese. Bacon is extra, and if you want to doctor up your fries you need to order them separately as they won't upgrade the regular burger/fry deal. We both ordered cheeseburgers, mine with jalapenos and the wife's with hot Italian peppers. Hot tip (giggle): the Italian peppers are chopped up and much better. Burgers came within 15 minutes and looked ready to explode. In fact, cutting them in half caused them to fall apart. But boy were they good! The beef wasn't seasoned with salt but the rest of the toppings carried the flavor workload. And the thing was huge, barely fitting in my mouth. Copious amounts of homemade, crispy fries came on the side and were perfect to dip in the side of honey sriracha sauce I had ordered. The bun stole the show, though: buttered, crispy, soft like brioche, but chewy around the edges. Sadly, they mis-cooked my wife's burger twice but let us keep the reject so I was able to enjoy her first error burger the next day. And the bun was still good then! I won't mention names but another place run by a group of guys was my previous favorite spot for a burger, but the five of them can take a hike. This place has them beat on all counts except ambiance (and free peanuts). As Han Solo would say, it doesn't look like much but its got it where it counts. read more

Came in based on the Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint. Great, friendly, local, atmosphere with amazing food. I had the burger medium/ rare and it was spot on, maybe rare for some but bang on for me. My toppings were cheddar, raw onion, the cherry peppers, and tomato with fries and gravy on the side. I should have went with the fried onions to scrape off the burger and mix with the gravy but I can do that next time. The fries are fresh cut and went very well with the gravy. Local dive bar with OUTSTANDING burgers! Burgers are so big they are hard to wrap your mouth around them. My 10 yr old daughter could not stop saying that it is the best burger she's ever had and I would agree that it is one of the best. There's a spacious covered deck out back with wood and plastic tables - clearly the smoking area, and with parking lots on either side, but still green and relatively peaceful, especially in the middle of the day. When I looked at the menu, I thought the price for added bacon ($3) was kind of steep, but when the burger came out, I understood why. There were probably 6 full slices of bacon on top of it! The other toppings I ordered were also plentiful. The fries were hot and fresh, and the drink I ordered was indeed served in a mini pitcher.
