Our very first visit here was for Brunch. The place wasn't very busy 2 tables of customers (two people each) indoors and one table outdoors. We were greeted and sat pretty quickly by the woman behind the register. Had a delicious brunch menu and a nice drink menu. I was very excited about the build your own Bloody Mary. We waited close to 40 minutes before anyone came to the table again. This place wasn't busy at all, nor were there a lack of staff (3 people behind the counter talking with one another). The woman who sat us was talking with several other employees behind the counter and then just disappeared. I went from being excited to just becoming hangry. When the waitress did make her way back to our table we just ordered food that we thought wouldn't take long and skipped the drinks (this sucked because I didn't really order what I wanted because I wasn't sure if it would ever come to the table). Customers came and went. When the food was eventually came to the table we requested refills, they never came. I'd hate to say that the bad service might have been targeted directly at us, due to our same server taking orders at other tables right away and getting them drink refills quickly. I'm trying to go over what we did wrong or if we said something rude in any way. I worked in food service for many years and I find that I'm usually overly nice and forgiving when things are busy (not busy at all on this day). Food was good which is why this review didn't get one star. Might review this place again if I hear back from management about this. read more

My coworkers heard it was good here so we decided to get lunch from them, the lady that answered the phone kinda had an attitude, the orders came out a bit wrong, & they forgot one of my co workers food. My food personally is not that good, all i got was a crispy bbq chicken sandwich- the crispy chicken is burnt, there's no bbq, and they put cheddar instead of american like i asked & it's kinda disappointing & sad because i know a lot of the time workers just want a good lunch & don't have time to wait around for it to be correct or go back & get what they missed. Came by after work. Really like the Latham location. Figured I give it a try. The location is well placed but like the Latham location parking is an issue. The inside is smaller than I expected and I wasn't the only one to make that comment either. Seems like everyone made that comment I spoke to. The staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and the beers on draft. The menu is the same as Latham and the food is just as good. The inside has a small amount of tables(8-10) the bar has 10-12 seats at max. The outside will be hopping in the summer and was told they will make it super nice as it gets warmer outside. My family and I went on a busy Saturday night, bring a coat if the weather is cold because the restaurant is drafty. There was a long wait for a table and a long wait for food however our waitress was attentive and wonderful. My dad's burger bun was burnt slightly but it was a non-issue for him. Our food was amazing, and my only con to my salad is the dish was so full it was hard to stir to spread the dressing around. Definitely worth a stop in! read more

I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich, which the menu states is $14.95 for either grilled or fried chicken. It arrived and was accompanied by a pile of tiny "chips." The sandwich was OK, but definitely not worth $15! Then the bill arrived and it was for almost $20. When I asked my server why it was so expensive she informed me that there's a $3 up-charge for fried chicken (this is not indicated on the menu, and who would pay $20 for a mediocre chicken sandwich?) A quick chat with the manager fixed the situation (took off the extra charge), but overall this was a crappy experience. The more I think about this, I'd much rather have four (Yes 4) Popeye's chicken sandwiches (at only $3.99 a pop) for the same price as this ANY day. I thought this place was great. We were in Troy, NY for the week and stopped for lunch at the Tipsy Moose before heading back home. It was Friday early afternoon so not crowded at all. Waitstaff was super friendly, and wearing masks and food and drinks were delivered quickly. We were able to sit outside an appropriate distance from the two other couples sitting outside as well. I ordered a German beer which they allowed me to sample first which I thought was really nice. For food I started with a side house salad with ranch dressing which was crisp, fresh, cold and the dressing was delicious. Unsure if it was homemade but it was great. We had the buffalo chicken wrap with chips which was fresh and delicious and the Turkey Reuban which was out of this world. First off, I've never in my life seen beer battered bread on a menu but this is a game changer - all sandwiches should be made like this. It was crispy and even though fried, was not too oily or heavy. It also did wonders for holding the sandwich together. I swapped out the sauerkraut for coleslaw (shoutout to the table next to us who did this and gave me the idea) and it was perfect; they probably should just make it like that permanently. Went to this location in Troy and it was delicious! We started with an appetizer of boneless wings tossed in sweet chili sauce. Entrees included the Moose Knuckle burger with a side of chipotle mayo for the fries and the Honey BBQ Chicken Wrap, sweet potato fries and and a side blue cheese. The first time I ate at the Tipsy Moose I realized this was a place that was over busy and under spaced. However the dinner food was pretty decent so I convinced my girlfriend to try it too. We went during breakfast and sat in the middle section where the tables only seat two. Again the food was decent. However we were continually getting brushed and jostled by people attempting to maneuver through the cramped middle section where the tables are situated very close together to optimize the small seating capacity. We returned today - off peak - with the intention of being seated at the four patron tables that utilize the outer section and surround the cramped middle section. The person who greeted us when we entered told us to sit in the middle section. That section had only one empty table while the outer 4 person tables were almost entirely empty. We asked nicely for permission to take a seat at the outer tables and she rolled her eyes and said "sure." Not a promising response. After sitting there a while a waitress showed up and said "More people coming or just you two?" When we said just us she turned away without a another word to help someone else. When she was done with them she turned to us and tossed the menus on the table with a loud clap and walked away. Message received. We got up and left. What a shame that something as simple as wanting to be comfortable while eating would generate such a petty response. This is the Troy location near HVCC. I've never tried the Latham location so perhaps the staff are less combative at that location. At any rate we won't eat there again and hopefully this review will, at the very least, warn others that the staff is not above being conspicuously rude. read more

Rustic and log cabin vibes. Very cool tavern style! Portions are very generous- you will most likely have left overs. Staff is very nice and easy to have a conversation with. Normally happy with Tipsy Moose. However The last two times I ordered at the Troy location I have had troubles. The last time I ordered I waited 45 minutes passed the time they told me it would be ready in the parking lot. They clearly had made a mistake. It finally was ready some food hot some food cold. I figure everyone makes mistakes no big deal. I placed another order tonight. Nothing but disappointment. The French onion soup with brisket comes in only a large. Thinking it would be sizable I went for it. It comes in a 8 oz container not even full. For the price this is a big let down. Ordered the wings, garlic parm and medium for the sauce is what I asked for. I got maybe a drizzle of medium. There is no flavor or sauce on them. Update called the manager was very nice guy. Growing pains. It's common with new restaurants, including one that is opening a second location. People need to hold the review until after a few visits so they have time to grow into the staff and the location. Shall I say - "Brunch wasn't built in a day". I have ordered here numerous times for lunch, takeout and made a couple trips for sit down including one for brunch. We wanted a good meal prior to jumping on a plane on vacation. Tipsy Moose did not disappoint. The take out we have done has been very good. No major mistakes that we have found yet. It does take some time, and I will elude to the growing thing I brought up earlier. New staff, new kitchen, etc. I give you a pass on this also. At least on the first few tries. The sit down we had the day before vacation was spectacular. I had the benedict 3 ways and a cold Moosehead. She had the Monte Cristo with the french toast bun, also with a Moosehead. Where you lost a star was I had asked for a bottle and got the draft instead. But no matter. I'll be back. The benedict three ways was spectacular. Great blends of spice and textures. I will change up the order I eat them in next time though. Just to see how they are in a different order. Saved the traditional for last, and should have had that first. It was all beyond expectation in flavor and price. My only complaint is that the place is too small. I know it's a good location and it was nearly ready made already, but just too cramped and the line and wait is too long. Good problem to have though I suppose. We love our tipsy moose! Mac n cheese flight was delicious, the beer is always cold and extra! The chicken sandwich is also very good. The buffalo dip was a special us was very "hot" and our server did warn us. But still very tasty. The variety is on point! Brandon and missy are the best, serve was fast and they were very attentive. Most every time we go it's hard to find a seat, it's always so packed. It's a great place if you single and ready to mingle or if your on a date or just want to hangout with a couple of your friends. Ok they messed up my order and by time they fixed it the rest of my table was done eating.... BUT they still earned 5 stars from me! Today, the fixings were left out on a table near the door and everything was fried and cold. We were actually guessing at what we were eating, but the actual drink was pretty good. The morning scramble was just ok. I believe it was bacon bits, not real bacon and the potatoes they use I think are frozen out of a bag. I've only been for brunch, but the Troy location seems to have solved all of the provlems that the Latham location has. The parking lot, while still not a great size, is larger and more accessible than the Latham spot. The inside is also larger. The service has been great each time I've been here and I've never felt like I had been forgotten about, which has happened more than once in Latham. Much like the other one, the food is great and the decor is fun and rustic. It's definitely worth driving the extra few minutes to get here and I look forward to going back. read more

I've been to the Tipsy Moose in Latham and I enjoyed it very much. This one is good, but not as good as the one in Latham. First, I ordered the sausage gravy fries for an appetizer. About an hour past and they still didn't come out. The manager came out and explained they messed up the order and he said that he would take it off the bill. I appreciated it very much. For an entree I ordered the flight of three Mac and cheese. I went with the lobster, pulled pork, and brisket. The pulled pork was the best. It was creamy and bbq sauce mixed perfectly with the cheese. The lobster was the second best. It was also very creamy and there was plenty of lobster in it. The brisket was by far the worst. First, there was jalapeños in it and it simply didn't work at all. Also, the brisket itself tasted weird and undercooked. The meal came to $20 which I feel is too much for Mac and cheese, but they do give you a lot. Overall, I enjoyed this Tipsy Moose, but the one in Latham is better. read more

Went for brunch and was pretty disappointed. Normally we like the tipsy moose. My partner ordered the quesadilla. He said it was pretty bland and uneventful. It looked it. I ordered the monte cristo with the burger. One word, awful. The French toast bread it was sandwiched between wasn't French toast as the rest of the world comes to know French toast. Maybe out of a frozen box? Idk. But the whole thing, to the rare to medium rare (I asked for medium to medium well) prepared burger to the spicy mustard. Awful. We first tried the Latham one about 5+ years ago, and didn't realize they had expanded until just recently. Tipsy Moose is high-quality pub fare, with great mac & cheese, wings, poutine and more. LOVE the moose sticks! Weekend brunch is equally delicious (try the breakfast tacos, morning scramble or chicken and waffles!), tho I would love to see them utilize something like Yelp waitlist to help move through the line. Very small locations, all of them, so there can be a big eat-in wait if you don't plan ahead. With that said, our take out orders have always been well packaged, which makes getting to go an easier option. Drink menu is always great too. Overall, it's great food in a cozy and increasingly convenient location(s). What more could you want? read more

I had really high hopes. In their defense I was there on the first day they opened the doors. One big thing I noticed was their pricing. They had a great beer on tap by Grimm called Kites are Fun, a 12oz pour for $9. Another local craft beer bar in the area had that same beer, the same day $8 for a 16oz pour.
