As always, an amazing experience. We try to hit this place up as much as we can, which is usually 6-10 times a year. It would be more if we lived closer. Today just exemplified why this is a great restaurant. We ordered off the specials menu; mostly because you may not see something again! Starter was Fried Butternut Squash Ravioli with a maple dipping sauce. Crispy, tender and the butternut filling was not overly seasoned letting the squash shine. We ordered a December Melt (melted Brie, fried ham, apples, chipotle honey mustard on a toasted Baguette. The spicy sauce complimented the warm sandwich fillings. So good, we ordered one to go for football tomorrow. We also ordered Texas Goulash (cavatappi noodles, pulled pork, bacon, peppers, jalapeño and some BBQ sauce). This dish was savory and the meat was tender!! Every bite was a melange of sweet, creamy, salty, crunchy. And to drink, another special menu item , the squall stuck cider. A peach spiced cider cocktail with New Scotland Spirits (SHOUT OUT!) Winter Wheat Whiskey blended with apple cider, pumpkin spice and brown butter. This really complimented both meals. Stopped by for lunch on a Monday with a friend of mine. This was my second visit and I was excited to explore more of their menu items. I found an appetizer that sounded interesting... potato perogies wrapped in bacon with a balsamic vinegar. They were excellent! There was a hot Italian combo on focaccia bread with red peppers, mozzarella and a few other cold cuts. This was something I suggested that they add to their regular menu, it was so good. Today was my second time here and I look forward to going again. Excellent food and service. Trip #1 was a year ago and we sat at the bar for salad and chicken wings and beer. We loved this place in the first trip but today was a bust. Reuben was not like last time. It was not grilled but it was on toast. Weird. Prime rib sandwich was not hot and it was mushy and impossible to eat. For $19 and an up charge for fries. I do still love the fries. Even the drinks were off. The menu is hysterical with names of meals and the food is amazing. The triple decker was light and filling (I could only eat half) and their fries are crunchy and delicious! I recently had a party catered by Babbling Brook catering and I don't even know where to begin. Everything, every single item we ordered was amazing. Highly, highly recommend the sliders! Any and all of them! The chicken and the burger sliders were even amazing reheated the following day. The caprese sliders might be my all time favorite. The pesto mac salad and ranch potato salad, absolute perfection. The cheese platter was wonderful. I have never had so many compliments on the food at one of my parties. The catering trays and insulated container to transport the hot sliders were the icing on the cake. Everything was ready to go when I arrived to pick up my order, I was packed and on my way within 5 minutes. We also enjoy dinner at the restuarant whenever possible. Fantastic meal for four on an early summer Friday night. We ordered a number of things off the specials menu ... pot roast, beef burrito, shepherds pie. Portions were huge. Plenty to take home. Flavorful, well cooked with some extras ... fried green beans instead of potato fries were excellent (crispy, light, not greasy) and the pot roast wasn't drowning in gravy with plenty of carrots and mashed potato. We enjoyed specialty cocktails and local, craft drafts. Our server was excellent, freindly, humorous and on the spot. Never more than a minute between needing another drink and her arriving table side. And the food runners (high school kids) in their uniform shirts were very disciplined and well managed. Good crowd, a few open tables including ours looking out over the brook. Finally, price point is perfect. Dinner for two off the specials menu with craft beers and tip was about $75. read more

We went for lunch today for the first time and it was amazing. From the moment we walked up we loved the ambiance. The decor was amazing. The service was exceptional. I had the Poached Salmon BLT, which I highly recommend. My husband had the turkey club. It was huge and flavorful. The pickles are homemade and very tasty. The Babbling Brook is about a 40mn drive southwest of Albany and if the name wasn't any indication, it's located right next to a brook. Their location is great for a spring, summer or warm fall day. There is available seating outdoors and also a large grassy area near the brook where you can just relax and enjoy nature. We ordered bacon-wrapped pierogies, boneless wings tossed in PB&J sauce (not pictured), garlic asiago fries, 2 chicken sandwiches, and a Philly cheesesteak wrap (also not pictured, sorry). The boneless wings were delicious. Deep-fried so they were crispy. And the meat wasn't dried out. The PB&J sauce was awesome too. The bacon-wrapped pierogies were great. The bacon wasn't burnt to a crisp and paired well with the pierogies. The roasted garlic asiago fries were bomb.com! I opted for hot sauce drizzled on mine and I thought they were awesome. The melted cheese tasted great and my own improvement would've been adding more of it. Let's talk about that chicken sandwich though. It's a novelty sandwich. I haven't seen it done before and only recently learned about it through a local foodies group. The sandwich tasted okay and I will be trying it again. I just felt as if the ice cream was too much and spicy honey didn't bring the heat like I hoped it would. Next time I'll add bacon and request just 1 scoop of ice cream rather than the 3 it came with haha All in all, we will be returning. The service was quick and our food arrived to the table hot. Rather, it tasted like some damn lemon ditch water. You could surely find better tasting water at a waste treatment facility. Amazing place to eat. We had the Black Cherry chicken wings which were out of this world, sweet, sticky, followed by a little heat. The Sheppard Pie with the Guinness gravy was a double thumbs up! We will be back next year, can't wait! read more

I found this place back in January, and boy am I glad I did. I haven't had a bad meal there ever, the food really is just incredible. The portions are bigger than usual-you really get what you pay for Brad and his team have come up with some really incredible flavors. The chicken Parm might be one of the best ones I've ever had in my life. of a Thanksgiving chowder? Totally on a level of its own. This was a very busy place for seemingly being in the middle of nowhere. We sat outside which was very nice as inside did not have very much ambience. As other reviewers have stated, the staff is pretty young so you need to be patient . I though the food was mediocre, not bad but not great . I ordered the boneless chicken wings that were tossed in a very good "medium" buffalo sauce . Unfortunately because they were so thin, they were overcooked leaving them chewy and dry . I also ordered a side of ff and Cajun coleslaw . The coleslaw was the highlight of our meal . It was delicious . Hubby ordered the French dip sandwich which he said was ok . We did do the molten chocolate chip cookie dessert and that was delicious . Our problem with the young staff came when we asked for coffees and our after dinner drinks to be served in snifters . Unfortunately he paid no never mind to that and brought them out in bullet casing shot glasses . It's ok though , this was not fine dining and I just would have appreciated him saying there are no snifters at the bar . Would I return ? Probably not . My almost full drink was knocked over by accident by our bartender. Instead of our bartender suggesting a new drink or other option, she just said sorry for the spill, cleaned it up and after helping others (after 15 minutes) and us ready to leave (asked for our tab) I said to her my drink was almost full and I would like it off the tab, she then said " are you sure I was about to make you a new drink "... a little late for her response and unprofessional. There's a full bar I was impressed ahead Guinness and some ethics although there scotch selection according to my companion was not up to par. something for everyone on the menu. I ordered a half pastrami sandwich and substituted the rye beware that the mustard do use has an over abundance of horseradish and will clear your sinuses out! Choice of chips fries or sweet potato fries. The waiter recommend a honey spicy chicken and waffles or with ice cream I wasn't up for today maybe another day. Delicious place! The menu has different and great options. I wanted to try one of each things. We got the Mac and cheesy fries, bacon wrapped pierogis, kick-asserole, southwest chicken wrap and green bean fries, Mac and cheese, thanksgiving sandwich, Reuben, pulled pork sliders, BBQ cauliflower bites and garlic parm wings! Everything came out prepared correctly... Warm and tasty! They also have a large selection of beer and a full bar. We are definitely going back to try other things on the menu. We've been meaning to try this place and finally got around to it 2 weeks ago. We went for an early dinner so it wasn't crowded. We sat indoors in the cozy dining area with interesting memorabilia adorning the walls and a big fireplace at the end. Our server Aleigh (?) was so pleasant. She gave us time to review the menu while she quickly brought our drinks. We opted for the bacon wrapped pierogies as an appetizer. OMG, so good dipped in the hot sauce! My husband and I each had the salmon BLT wrap. The salmon was moist and fresh and the chipotle dressing gave it a nice kick. We plan to visit again to dine on the outdoor patio overlooking the creek and again in the winter with the fireplace going. read more

If you like great food served enthusiastically by a team of servers in a down-home atmosphere, run (don't walk!) to the Babbling Brook in Berne. This was the Friday night before Halloween and the owner had outfitted the walk up to the restaurant with all manner of animatronic ghouls and goblins to set the tone for the restaurant experience. We were greeted and seated by Little Red Riding Zombie and quickly noticed that the entire staff were in costume. She was our waitress but we were happily surprised when she was assisted by Zombie Nurse and a scary Clown (my girl was NOT so happy about the clown, until she brought our lava cakes!). Very fun place to be! For apps, I had the Pint O Bacon (just as it sounds!) and my girl had the shrimp cocktail, with shrimp so big and fresh it could easily have been a meal itself! We then ordered the Loaded Ziti special and it did not disappoint. Topped with pepperoni and loaded with 4 cheeses, meatballs and brisket it was sensational! I really loved that they had a nice variety of food on the menu but didn't try to cater to all possible tastes. This allowed them to really focus on delivering their best with every meal. I asked to speak to the owner, Silky, and raved about the place to her astonished and relieved smiling face. She told us that she and her husband went looking for a place to live in 2020 and found this restaurant and ice cream shop with a home. Oh yes, and Silky was pregnant at the time! My husband, our adult son and his dog, and I came to the Babbling Brook on Saturday evening, against our son's expressed reluctance to drive "to Guam" for dinner. We pooh-poohed his objections and enjoyed the drive from Latham/Colonie. Because we had the dog, we sat on the porch as directed and were warmly greeted by Winter, who provided us with exemplary service throughout our meal. She was funny, friendly, courteous and plain ol' NICE--a real credit to the restaurant and to whomever raised her. We ordered three drafts--two Blue Moons and a Druthers All-In IPA for me and mercy! those glasses were filled to the brim and delivered without a drop spilled. We also ordered a appetizer to share, the Spicy Cheesy Dill Pickily fries and they hit every base. My husband ordered a double burger, but Son and I couldn't NOT order the hot honey crispy chicken with vanilla ice cream sandwich. All came with homemade pickles and great potato chips. Everything was excellent. I was SCREAMING about the chicken with ice cream. Whoever dreamed that up deserves a trophy and world-wide recognition. Quaint and comforting. Had the 2 for 25 special. Starting with a garden salad and Cajun cordon blue soup. Salad was more ingredients than I'd expect! Came with shredded beets, onion, cherry tomatoes, black olives, shredded carrot, cucumber and mixed greens. I coulda done without the first 4 items, but once I scooted those off it was delicious. Husband liked the soup but was too spicy for me. Our mains were the sirloin and buffalo Mac and cheese. Steak was buttery and delicious, a little heavy on the gravy. It lay atop a mashed potato and zucchini medley. The Mac was awesome. Great crunch on the chicken. Gemelli pasta. Sour cream was unnecessary. We both had the brownie sundae for desert and it was perfect. Absolute delicious. The waitress was very cheerful and helpful. I also had the strawberry peach tart. Tart is right. This place was great. We got our food and beers from the bar and ate down at the picnic tables by the creek. The hot honey fried chicken sandwich with ice cream on top was ridiculously good. We really wanted to like this place as it is less then 10 minutes from our house. The food is actually pretty good but we have tried it four times and every time the service has been lousy. It almost seems like the wait staff has never eaten in a restaurant. When you seat somebody the first thing you do is hand them a menu and see if they want a drink. Not sit them there for 10 minutes with nothing in front of them. We had a comedy of errors every time we eat there. From getting a appetizer and then having ours meals show up about 4 minutes later to having to get up and go get our own drinks at the bar because the waitress was MIA. The weird part is they seem over staffed for such a small place. It's not rocket science, seems like they really need a seasoned waitress to show the younger staff how to take care of guests. Unfortunately 4 strikes and your out, we will be traveling a little further to the Maple Inn where the food probably isn't as good but the service is top notch. read more

Our waitress was lazy, we got better service from the bus girls and other waitresses. They do not give free refills on soda, the glasses were small compared to most and worst off they were $3.00 a piece. Last, as we were done and the waitress asked if we were paying with cash or card? I asked why and she said cards are a 4% up charge because that's what they get charged. That should have been posted on the menu, but more importantly as we are predominantly a cashless society you should charge what's required and if anything give a cash discount. It's just frustrating and when you get better service elsewhere for the same prices or better you put these places on the "we won't go there again" as we did this place. read more

We had a variety across the menu and everything was really good, but the hot honey chicken ice cream sandwich is something you have to try. We had the kids who are now big fans. My wife ordered a specialty coffee drink from the bar that was "dangerously delicious". Setup is welcoming and cool, off the path but worth the drive. We waited for an hour to be seated. Finally once seated we ordered a drinks and and then placed our orders for food. We ordered two BLT's and southwest Cajun sandwhich And wings. While the wings were good the chicken was hard and dry. Couldn't even eat it. The BLT was flavorless which is usually really easy to make but the bread wasn't crispy and was soggy. There was a total of 1 1/2 pieces of bacon on the sand-which altogether, I wish I took a photo. There was no mayonnaise on the BLT when I received it so I asked for mayo and they charged me an extra $1.00 for it. The service was a joke. There was no one to even complain about my sandwich to. They were all gathered to the side talking and on their phones. No one came back to ask us if we needed refills which we did. We ended up taking our drinks to the bar and getting them ourselves. The refill price for two Pepsis was outrageous considering how watered down it was and they only gave you a half a can of soda and put majority of ice in it. I will never go back there to eat. Also we weren't the only ones because the guy across from us got brought a new burger and it was so nasty he and his wife left it and ended up leaving. read more

They can't get an order right. First time I ordered a medium rare double burger with egg and bacon. Made it home and found out I received a single with nothing on it. Chalking this up to just a simple mistake my wife and I ordered a second time. This time I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Cobb salad. I received a salad for sure. Wasn't buffalo chicken.
