WHAT BROUGHT ME HERE Located in the heart of downtown Troy, Emry's Garden stood out to me as it sits on the corner of an intersection in direct view of cars passing over the bridge into the city. I decided to eat here in celebration of getting a new job in the city. THE ATMOSPHERE Arriving at 8pm on a Friday night, the whole restaurant was packed. I made reservations so we were seated immediately. There was almost no overhead lighting- instead, most of the restaurant was lit by downward-lighting lamps at each table. Each table had a jar of flowers which added nice color to the environment; it was woodsy, but not in the polished, laminated sense. It felt more natural, cabin-like, combining well with the shrubbery, paintings with big frames, natural lighting from windows, and giant mirrors. The place was small, packed, and loud with people and background music. That's my only minor complaint; it was quite loud from all the people and everything was tight together, and I think the music was good, but would be even better with some more abstract, atmospheric score. This isn't the place to watch the game; there's no TV's. But it is the place to order a fancy cocktail or a Banana Bread Old Fashioned. And there is a bar. THE SERVICE I happened to know our waitress from high school on accident and she was wonderful. We were checked up on frequently, our food arrived fast, and the conversation was enjoyable. THE FOOD I ordered the Mickey's Riggies, a Rigatoni dish in marinara sauce mixed with peppers, chicken, mushroom, and Parmesan cheese. Flawless. My friend & I also got Bavarian Pretzel sticks as our starter and man, that buffalo sauce was good. Costed $60 without tip. THE BATHROOM My design professor once said if you want to understand the personality of a restaurant, check out its bathroom. Well, that didn't really apply to this place. The men's bathroom was a little jank, unlike the great atmosphere of the restaurant itself. It wasn't disgusting, just a little jank. BONUS: THE SPEAKEASY Yes, there's a speakeasy, but you're not going to learn about it on this Yelp review. You should visit it yourself if you get the chance. Dress up. read more

4 Stars! Although I've been to Emry's Garden for different events, this was my first time actually coming for dinner--and what a fun night! I happened to see a notification on social media that they were doing $1 oysters and immediately jumped online and grabbed a 5:30 reservation! If you've never been to Emry's Garden, you're missing out on the cutest little space! It's absolutely beautiful, filled with greenery, quaint décor, and so many cozy touches. It has such a warm, inviting feeling the minute you walk in. They also had live music that night , so the patio was definitely bumping! We were seated right away and our drink order was taken quickly. We started with a dozen oysters and the Ahi tuna appetizer. The tuna was very similar to an ahi tuna nacho--and WOW! Absolutely delicious and something I will 100% be ordering again! We were a little disappointed that they didn't have mignonette for the oysters, but honestly, the oysters were still completely delicious! By the time we were ready to order another dozen, we were told they were sold out. But honestly, I wasn't surprised--the restaurant was packed and it seemed like every table was enjoying those $1 oysters! Our server was very sweet , although the service was a little slow. I'm guessing that had a lot to do with how busy the restaurant was that evening. Oyster lovers, take my advice: Order more than a dozen right away! We'll definitely be back, and next time we'll either come a little earlier or make sure we order enough oysters to satisfy the craving! Overall, such a fun evening in a beautiful setting. Right place at the right time with the right people and although it was my first visit, they have a repeat customer now. Went for happy hour Friday night and had the best time. I was supposed to visit a year prior last summer and they were closed. As a predominantly plant based girlie, I looked forward to trying their food. Danielle was working the bar and mannnn is she a rockstar. She was fast, attentive, busy and still made the perfect drinks. My cauliflower bites were the perfect texture, and tasted like fresh cauliflower lightly breaded in rice flour and fried then dipped in the mango habanero sauce I chose. Amazing. My margarita was perfect as well. I'm a flower girlie as well and I LOVED the fresh flowers all around, and all the plants too! It's absolutely beautiful in there!! I love this place . I love the space. I love the ambience. I love the music. This is a really chill bar with food that we've been coming to, on and off for a couple years, even before it was Emery's (The Beer Garden)- it's just a great spot. But today we came in for happy hour and had a perfect margarita and an Aperol spritz, which gave me a renewed appreciation for Aperol. To tomato off I had the most awesome delicious shrimp tacos that I've had in a very, very long time. It's worth the trip just to the shrimp tacos. Trust me people. This shit is the real real. The specialty cocktails look yummy and I'll have to try one next time. We sat outside on this warm late spring evening. I ordered the curried coconut mussels and he ordered the Lloyd personal pizza. The mussels were from the appetizer section but were plenty to eat as a main course. They were well cooked and soft not rubbery.I wish I had more toast to soak up the delicious sauce. Ordered the shrimp tacos to share but I think it's good as an entree too since it's quite substantial. Very generous with the ingredients. Love the combination of sweet fruits, diced peppers and vegetable and grilled shrimp. The creamy dressing pulled all the flavors together. We also ordered the sliced pear and arugula pizza. This place is beautiful inside. It's cozy with nice lighting and lots of plants. We loved it. We came in for drinks and apps and it did not disappoint! The salted vanilla espresso martini is amazing...must try at least one! The sunshine Tina was delicious. It's a large scoop of guacamole with ahi tuna on top and served with fried wonton skins. This place is simply outstanding! My sister and I were out for the evening and went here for dinner. When my sister saw a entree called Quintessence teriyaki Chicken, she became extremely excited & happy. She explained to me, that this is one of the best dishes she ever had at the restaurant Quintessence in Albany. The server "Liberty" was fantastic as a server! I told her how happy my sis, with this hoping it was like the original entree she had. Liberty said, It is exactly the same because that Chef is here! Very happy sister. Had a party of 8, owner immediately started being extremely nasty to my party the second we walked in the door and asked for our reservation. She accused us of coming in with a smaller party than originally booked but FAILED to realize we had called twice the two prior days. She continued to argue and raise her voice, while the rest of the staff watched in horror of her behavior. We left I would never support/give business to a loser like her. Alert: First timer here. A few things to know beforehand. Parking is horrendous; there is No off street parking. Had to parallel park. I didn't see a changing table in the restroom. No high chairs, or at-least we asked for one and one was never delivered. That being said, not really a place for the kids more of an adult outting spot. Saturday night at 6pm showed up, sat right away. We wanted outdoors but we were not able to be accommodated with our request. A little disappointed as it was 80 and sunny. The indoors greets you with a warm welcome, divine presence of fresh flowers, cute little farm style tables and chairs, mostly mismatched and an array of different kinds of plants. We sat by the windows that had Edison lights around. Very cute, but no AC was on and the garage doors open to the outdoor patio needless to say there was no breeze to be felt and it was sweltering in the window seats. The food menu was a decent variety of dishes and additional menu for the pizzas. Pictured is all the menus we were given(food, beer, cocktails and wines). The presentation left something to be desired however the pretzels were very soft and just the right amount of salty crunch, it's served with a cherry beer cheese. The cauliflower bites were deliciously tasty and tender. Chicken sandwich was huge with nice juicy flavor and my favorite served with FRESH CUT fries. Beers ordered were basic, left me a little bitter. Margaritas were flavorful I was told. Our service was pretty mediocre nothing to write home about, nothing was above and beyond. Our highchair never had showed up even though we had asked a hostess for one. The nice thing about this restaurant was that there were different people from all walks of life. My friend and I get together every 3 weeks and try a new place! This week's adventure was over to Emery's Garden. Upon arrival we were sat immediately with no wait, our server was quick and attentive ensuring we never had to wait for a refill. Food was also served quickly and did not disappoint. For drinks we had the prickly pear margarita and pumpkin spice espresso martini! They were so delicious and refreshing. For dinner my friend had chicken croquettes and I had the burger with a side salad. Both dishes came out hot and fresh, they were both tasty we had no complaints! For dessert we shared a crème brûlée, I had never had this before and it wasn't my favorite. My friend loved it but she loves crème brûlée! My boyfriend recently moved to Troy, and I come to visit from New York City. Emry's Garden is a gem and a real asset to the neighborhood. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are always welcoming. The manager, Carl, has such a genuine and friendly way about him, which I really appreciate. That kind of hospitality really stands out. The prices are reasonable, the drink quality is great, and they have a fantastic cocktail menu with a wide variety of options. Their weekday happy hour is also a great bonus, and the outdoor space is wonderful when the weather is nice. The food has been consistently excellent. I've had the pizza, seafood, and pasta, and my boyfriend loves the tacos, pizza, and pasta as well. We always leave satisfied. Two favorites were the champagne shrimp appetizer and the chicken croquettes. The ambience is very cozy, with many plants, and beautiful lighting. The dining room is rustic meets shabby chic. A well welcomed escape from the uninventive and sterile food chain restaurants that fill the Capital Region. We loved the staff. My friends and I came here for dinner and even with a reservation we had to wait a little so I definitely recommend making one if you're trying to go during peak hours. Their cocktails and beers were really good, I definitely recommend the Elderberry mule and poppyseed lemon drop! I also think their pretzel bites are a must have!! We were huge fans of Quintessence all during it's tenure. We tried the Chicken Teriyaki at Emry's and it is the exact same preparation. We found out the reason is because Donnie is the same chef who worked at Quintessence and he also prepares them for Emry's. And it is always great to see Amy at the hostess station when we walk in. We remembered Amy from her days at Quintessence and now she is a co-owner of Emory's. Others try to imitate, but Emry's Chicken T's are the original deal--- so plump and juicy, the spinach noodles are the same and so is the dressing. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this establishment. We made reservations in advance of our date night. We had added that we would be on a date night in our reservation and we were placed at the cutest corner table with the most comfortable bench seats with tons of pillows. I started out with the Jules drink which was delicious, light and refreshing. We had the mussels as a starter and were blown away at the delicate white wine sauce and perfectly cooked mussels. Them the main entrees. My husband has the Salmon BLT. It was gorgeous with fresh Norwegian salmon, perfectly cooked, maple bacon, 9 grain bread, hand cut fries (GF btw) and a pickle because no BLT is complete without one. I had the short rib ragu pasta. I subbed GF pasta and it was amazing. You would have never known it was GF. It was absolutely divine. The short ribs were perfectly cooked, the red sauce with red wine, carrots, onions and garlic was beyond my expectations. Came for dinner on a Thursday evening. The restaurant had a respectable crowd but I had no problem getting a table, even as a party of one. The ambiance was so calming. I'm a sucker for anything with flowers, so when I saw the lush green dining room I was sold. The lighting is dim, the furniture is wood, and there are plants all around. I was a little worried that it might be too funky, because I've been to botanical coffee houses where it smelled super earthy - I was happy to find that the plants here were aesthetic but had no aroma! We waited almost 2 hours for our food and when it came out it was not worthy of the wait. The staff and management had no idea what to tell us and kept saying that the food was almost ready. So after contemplating an appetizer the server explained the restaurant was out of the smoked cheese. We started with tasty pretzel bites served with a small plastic ramekin of spicy cheese sauce. After one pretzel bite our entrees arrived flooding the tiny table. My friend order steak chimichuri with wilted fries and firm Brussels. My salmon and risotto entree was not plated well. About four round cups of oily risotto with salmon atop. My salmon was prepared to order medium and not overcooked. I came here on a Friday night for a friends bday. Will say it was busy. I made a reservation and we waited about 25 min till we were seated (reservation at 7:30 and we sat at 7:55). There isn't really a place to sit and wait so it was kinda awkward to stand around and we felt like we were in the way. I don't think they do anything for birthdays - or at least they didn't bring anything out which is fine but just so people know. They use open table for their reservation which I love. Emry's is a super cute and fun beer garden/restaurant in Troy. They have a wide selection of delicious beers and beautiful cocktails, there's something to drink for everyone. The food was also quite good- I had the Santa Fe salad and it was quite perfect, the perfect size and mix of items and the dressing was perfectly tossed in the salad. My partner got the steak with cornbread and Brussels sprouts- the steak was great but the corn bread and Brussels sprouts were quite bland (both needed some sweet or heat or both, they tasted very plain). The place itself is so pretty, and it will certainly impress your friends and family if you take them here. I wasn't sure if they had parking, there was a lot in the back but it was unclear if it was for the restaurant or some place else. The decor both inside and out was wonderfully and tastfully done. The music on the patio was a bit loud for my liking but it didn't last long. Inside, though seemed to have a warm ambiance.
