    Crunchy caramel French toast
    Leo Y.

After decades of driving by this café, we finally decided that today will be the day that we try it. We pulled into the parking lot, drove the whole length without seeing a spot, looped back onto New Scotland, and then went for a second landing approach. This time, a car had recently left, and we were able to secure a spot. We sat in the car for the next five minutes, watching the line stretching out of the door, to see how long we would have to wait, and if it was worth it. After seeing three couples leave over those five minutes, we decided to wait. We realized that it was worth the wait as soon as we walked in. The restaurant, while relatively small, is much larger than what we thought, based on the view from the street. There's a small waiting area with a few chairs, then a decent sized open kitchen, with four or five people preparing food. Bar seating wraps around it and then a sizeable dining room surrounds it. I'm not good with estimating seating capacity, but I would guess that there were around 100 guests seated around us. There were two servers, someone who I assume was an owner/manager, and someone bussing the tables. We went with the specials, of crunchy caramel French toast and crab cake egg benedict, with a side of the house made corned beef hash, and a coffee. We read online that the place is cash only, and there were no prices listed for the specials, so we made sure to have a few extra 20's with us, to cover the bill. The food and coffee were delicious, with generous portions, and beautiful presentations. There's even a TikTok channel, set up by the restaurant, showcasing the food! After polishing the meal, we were given a paper bill, that we took to the register up front, settled it, and then dropped the tip into a basket of cash. This is a place that we will definitely come back to, as well as bring others to, as it instantly rose to the top of my breakfast places in the area. The large, private parking, clean bathroom, and ATM machine, all make it a much easier place to frequent, which combined with top notch food and service, make it a winner.

A while back I had asked for suggestions on where I could get some good biscuits and gravy and someone recommended here. I finally got a chance to make it out there yesterday and loved it. It's a cute, no frills, diner style spot located in a small strip plaza with plenty of parking. The menu is small and simple but the food is homemade and everything you could ask for. The pictures don't really do it justice. I find a lot of places load you up on bland uncooked homefries. But here I thought the portions were perfect. I ordered my homefries well done like I always do and they nailed it. They tasted like they were cooked in some kind of animal fat so some might be turned off but I loved the flavor and barely needed to add any salt & pepper. The prices were very reasonable and two orders of biscuits and gravy, a side of sausage, and a tea came to $28 after tax. They are cash only but there is an atm inside. They weren't very busy at 11:30 on a Saturday but the service was exceptional even for being slow. Our waiter was super friendly and the food came out in about 5-10 mins it felt like. Even though I don't live very close I would put this on my list of regular spots based on our experience and can't wait to go back so I can try the homemade hash next.

Best corned beef in capital land. Poached eggs cooked perfectly with a delicious yolk. I even loved the rye toast with butter too!

A solid delicious affordable breakfast every time. Bob the owner keeps everyone happy, feeling welcome and enjoying delicious straight forward food. The attention to the food is not lost! I love the corned beef hash with poached eggs and rye toast. Best in Capital Land.

The first time I was there I had the avocado toast, which was great. My friend had their breakfast burrito which he thought was soggy and fell apart but hey it happens. Food delivery was very slow the first time, but our server was nice and the drinks were flowing so it was fine. Our table all has 20+ years each in the service industry, we get it. Today once again the crunchy French toast was amazing. We got it for the table to share and everybody couldn't get enough. The service was just really weird. It was like she really didn't want us to be there. And she didn't want to be there. She wasn't really rude, but she was pretty indifferent and took a long time to come back to the table. A second round of drinks was obviously off putting to her. Then I needed a change for a 20 so I could just leave cash for the check and hadn't seen her for a while so I asked another server who just walked by and said I'm not your server without even making eye contact with me. When I got the change, she was a little bit rude with me about it. It was 1 o'clock, they were past the brunch rush. It was just an odd experience with the server. I get having a bad day, but you shouldn't make it so obvious that you wished that you didn't have to be there.

Both areas have ample seating and invite you to stay and relax a bit. I opted for the chicken and waffles. A+ The breakfast burrito was good, but was not the typical flavor profile of what I've had previously. People next to us ordered the Hangover Hash and it looked plentiful and enough to feed two! Amazing overall with lightning fast service. The receipt has a QR code allowing you to pay with you phone. Very convenient. We ate here twice in four days and hope to visit again the next time we're in town.

The color scheme is amazing, and the service is second to none. They move efficiently throughout the restaurant; they don't have just one person assigned to each table but use a group approach, and you can order at the table with the app, which is cool. Bartender Benny was great! The food, I'll say, was fair. I do believe the prices don't fully reflect the quality, but the overall feel is great. The champagne machine is a great touch, so that was unique. This is a very upscale brunch, but it's worth the hype for the decor. Parking is not the easiest, but it's worth it.

This lot is rocky and wet but the main lot was full and circling back on Western Ave was not fun. Saturday at 130pm was a busy time and I was unable to find a table. There was a seating area with three dingy white chairs and a small low top table where I was able to sit. The chairs need to be re- upholstered! The stains are so noticeable on the white fabric. I started to order using the QR code but it was involved so simply order at the counter. The server will give you a table number and you can relax before your order is delivered. My coffee drink was served incorrectly in a to go container despite having an in house table marker and having my food brought to me. I waited in line at the counter and asked if my drink order was correct? The sever asked if I liked espresso?? I replied by showing him the display picture of the drink and his response was Oh we were out of glasses. The pastry was fluffy and crusty but not as substainal as it appears before you take a bite. Despite the service issue the items I ordered were well flavored and delicious . I would return and try a full menu item.

Gracie's is an elevated diner experience...all the breakfast and brunch things you could want, but up a couple levels from a classic greasy spoon diner. Not dissing the greasy spoon diner experience...love that...but this is based in that historical experience, with an overall nicer experience in terms of food and atmosphere. Also, before we get into the specifics, here are 2 words which would bring me in from just about anywhere: Donut menu. Yes, they make their own donuts here, and that's enough reason to stop in, take out, or worship at the front door. We got our donuts to go after the meal...The coffee was GREAT. Too often, coffee, which should be the opening star of a diner experience, can be flavorless, browned water. Here it was good. Bold as I needed it to be, and the perfect foundation for the rest of the meal. My next go-to if they have it brunch experience is biscuits. They have them...you can get a biscuit on its own or, heck, go for a mini biscuit basket! I live for a biscuit-forward establishment. The Full Breakfast (submitting biscuit or potatoes for the meat) would have been my choice, but I decided to roll my own and ended up with a biscuit, fruit cup, and side of Hash Browns. The biscuit was good, large, and perfect with butter and honey. They make the hash browns to order - large hash brown patties - and with 2 different orders of them at the table, one was overcooked, too brown, and not impressive...but the other was perfect and delicious...bordering on potato pancake territory in presentation and flavor. Our server was fantastic...we had a large party encompassing 3 different tables in the middle of a Sunday morning (On Easter no less), which is, of course, the busiest time of the week. She was friendly, enthusiastic, and never made us feel rushed. If I found myself in the Hudson Valley again, Gracie's would be a definite destination for me.

As a Jazz fan I appreciated the playlist throughout the night. Our server Dennis came over and took our drink orders. I had the Manhatten which was really good - walnut liqueur, bourbon, orange peel and a cherry. My date had the martini which I tasted and was also pretty good. For appetizers we were going to get the fingerling potatoes w/ chickpeas but our server recommended the Korean lettuce wraps (we got them w/ mushrooms). These were pretty good but kind of messy for my liking - you put them together on your own and are provided with romaine lettuce, kimchi, pickled veggies, mushrooms/beef and a "spicy" sauce which I found lacking in much heat (I am a bit of a heat seeker). We also got the "warmed" spiced olives which were definitely a hit for me but not so much my girlfriend. For mains I had the "smoked" brisket en biere w/ cauliflower and gravy. The meat was super tender, well seasoned but I really don't think it was smoked - the texture was that of braised beef, not bbq. That being said, it was quite good along with the riced and roasted cauliflower. My girlfriend had the pasta dish w/ mushrooms. I tried a bite and thought it was OK - she thought it was a bit pricey ($29) for what it was, I agreed. We're not big desert people but Dennis mentioned the tiramisu and we're big fans so we ordered it and it might've been the best bite of the night, really enjoyed it especially the crumbled pistachios.
