    Crunchy caramel French toast
    Leo Y.

After decades of driving by this café, we finally decided that today will be the day that we try it. We pulled into the parking lot, drove the whole length without seeing a spot, looped back onto New Scotland, and then went for a second landing approach. This time, a car had recently left, and we were able to secure a spot. We sat in the car for the next five minutes, watching the line stretching out of the door, to see how long we would have to wait, and if it was worth it. After seeing three couples leave over those five minutes, we decided to wait. We realized that it was worth the wait as soon as we walked in. The restaurant, while relatively small, is much larger than what we thought, based on the view from the street. There's a small waiting area with a few chairs, then a decent sized open kitchen, with four or five people preparing food. Bar seating wraps around it and then a sizeable dining room surrounds it. I'm not good with estimating seating capacity, but I would guess that there were around 100 guests seated around us. There were two servers, someone who I assume was an owner/manager, and someone bussing the tables. We went with the specials, of crunchy caramel French toast and crab cake egg benedict, with a side of the house made corned beef hash, and a coffee. We read online that the place is cash only, and there were no prices listed for the specials, so we made sure to have a few extra 20's with us, to cover the bill. The food and coffee were delicious, with generous portions, and beautiful presentations. There's even a TikTok channel, set up by the restaurant, showcasing the food! After polishing the meal, we were given a paper bill, that we took to the register up front, settled it, and then dropped the tip into a basket of cash. This is a place that we will definitely come back to, as well as bring others to, as it instantly rose to the top of my breakfast places in the area. The large, private parking, clean bathroom, and ATM machine, all make it a much easier place to frequent, which combined with top notch food and service, make it a winner.

A while back I had asked for suggestions on where I could get some good biscuits and gravy and someone recommended here. I finally got a chance to make it out there yesterday and loved it. It's a cute, no frills, diner style spot located in a small strip plaza with plenty of parking. The menu is small and simple but the food is homemade and everything you could ask for. The pictures don't really do it justice. I find a lot of places load you up on bland uncooked homefries. But here I thought the portions were perfect. I ordered my homefries well done like I always do and they nailed it. They tasted like they were cooked in some kind of animal fat so some might be turned off but I loved the flavor and barely needed to add any salt & pepper. The prices were very reasonable and two orders of biscuits and gravy, a side of sausage, and a tea came to $28 after tax. They are cash only but there is an atm inside. They weren't very busy at 11:30 on a Saturday but the service was exceptional even for being slow. Our waiter was super friendly and the food came out in about 5-10 mins it felt like. Even though I don't live very close I would put this on my list of regular spots based on our experience and can't wait to go back so I can try the homemade hash next.

Best corned beef in capital land. Poached eggs cooked perfectly with a delicious yolk. I even loved the rye toast with butter too!

A solid delicious affordable breakfast every time. Bob the owner keeps everyone happy, feeling welcome and enjoying delicious straight forward food. The attention to the food is not lost! I love the corned beef hash with poached eggs and rye toast. Best in Capital Land.

Place is gross. Cooks in back live streaming on TikTok. They will grab their phones occasionally then grab food, without changing gloves.

Gracie's is an elevated diner experience...all the breakfast and brunch things you could want, but up a couple levels from a classic greasy spoon diner. Not dissing the greasy spoon diner experience...love that...but this is based in that historical experience, with an overall nicer experience in terms of food and atmosphere. Also, before we get into the specifics, here are 2 words which would bring me in from just about anywhere: Donut menu. Yes, they make their own donuts here, and that's enough reason to stop in, take out, or worship at the front door. We got our donuts to go after the meal...The coffee was GREAT. Too often, coffee, which should be the opening star of a diner experience, can be flavorless, browned water. Here it was good. Bold as I needed it to be, and the perfect foundation for the rest of the meal. My next go-to if they have it brunch experience is biscuits. They have them...you can get a biscuit on its own or, heck, go for a mini biscuit basket! I live for a biscuit-forward establishment. The Full Breakfast (submitting biscuit or potatoes for the meat) would have been my choice, but I decided to roll my own and ended up with a biscuit, fruit cup, and side of Hash Browns. The biscuit was good, large, and perfect with butter and honey. They make the hash browns to order - large hash brown patties - and with 2 different orders of them at the table, one was overcooked, too brown, and not impressive...but the other was perfect and delicious...bordering on potato pancake territory in presentation and flavor. Our server was fantastic...we had a large party encompassing 3 different tables in the middle of a Sunday morning (On Easter no less), which is, of course, the busiest time of the week. She was friendly, enthusiastic, and never made us feel rushed. If I found myself in the Hudson Valley again, Gracie's would be a definite destination for me.

This a worthwhile place to pop in for a good meal in a nice…read moreriver view location. There are plenty of pleasant surprises on the menu for all sorts of diners. Our server was friendly. I hate to leave a harsh review but I see others have had the exact same complaints and this isn't my first bad experience here. Once we sat down and had our sandwich orders taken it was at least an hour till our food was out. I had to go to the kitchen after about 45 minutes and they said, oh, it is right here and brought out the bread/ biscuits app someone had asked for. Bread = 45 minutes. The rest of the entrees then trickled out slowly one by one ensuring half the table were done eating before the last salad finally arrived. We had assumed our server's shift had ended because I never saw her again in the restaurant until I went up to get the check form the cashier. She thenpopped out from somewhere to take over printing out my check. I suspect we were auto-gratuitied looking back but she never mentioned it. I failed to check and was just dying to get out of there It seemed like there were lots of staff but where are they and what are they doing?? . People at tables were just rubbernecking around looking for someone. No one was on the floor. No one was out in the tables. No one was watching food, timing, drinks, turning the tables, etc. It was busy when we arrived but almost empty by the time we left. We were there for over 2 hours. I wonder if there are systems in place that were created out of inexperience and are now the sunk cost way of running things. Are there sections? Does the hostess know how to manage pacing? Does the server understand timing and to check the tables? I don't mean to sound pedantic, I just don't think there are people here who understand that the job is to manage the flow, "but was it busy?" Yes, it is supposed to be. If you cannot serve someone, you need to wait to seat them. If you can't handle the tables, close a section. Just filling tables and figuring it out is unfair to diners. Thank god you can go to the front to get your check or we might still be there. :( No owner response needed

We were surprised at the lack of customers when we arrived at 6 PM on a hot and muggy Tuesday. There were a couple of parties on their covered patio, but only one booth in their dining room was filled, and there was no one at the bar or in the cocktail area. This is a shame, especially with the old style jazz music that was playing and the attractive ambiance. And, I'll say right up front that our meal was enjoyable with top level service. From their list of crafted cocktails my wife decided upon a zero proof Elixir, Scarlet Begonias ($14), crafted with Lyre's London Gin, earl grey and butterfly pea flower simple, and lime. It was quite flavorful and beautifully presented. While they didn't offer any draft beer, my eyes immediately focused in on Left Hand Brewing's Milk Stout Nitro ($9) - I hadn't had one in a long time, and its flavors of brown sugar, vanilla, and coffee were still so amazing. One of the highlights of our meal was the Forager Toast ($18) that we had as an appetizer. The lightly toasted and flavorful bread was topped with herbed ricotta, local roasted mushrooms, and arugula greens with an oil drizzle. This was so tasty. For her entrée, my wife chose the Scallops Marrakesh ($32) with a half-dozen large scallops over tomato, garlic, olives, and chickpeas with Moroccan spices on dressed arugula with grilled lemon. While the scallops lacked a more beautiful browning from searing, the dish was otherwise very good. As a side note, the half portion she took home that evening was even more flavorful the following day after all the flavors had more time to meld together. I ordered the Seafood Thai Curry ($36). The mix of mussels, arctic char, scallops, seasonal vegetables, and a very flavorful yellow curry with jasmine rice off to the side, was truly a hit with me. While the spiciness was not too great, it was definitely noticeable and perfect for my palate. I was too full after eating all my Seafood Curry to consider having dessert, but my wife had saved room by planning to bring a portion of her entrée home. Her choice was the Pistachio Tiramisu ($15). Beautifully presented with its ladyfingers soaked in espresso liqueur, mascarpone cream, pistachio glaze, and whipped cream with an espresso dusting, it tasted as good as it looked. She allowed me a taste. Relaxing with cups of freshly brewed coffee at the end of your meal is always a good idea at either Mint location. I believe it may be FTO French Peru from Capital City Roasters.
