I had French toast with bacon, strawberries and pure maple syrup all of which had an up charge and came to $28 before tip so a little on the pricey side for a basic breakfast. Arrived at noon on a Saturday and got seated right away. It's clean, modern and open. Our waitress, Isabella, was perfect. Give her a raise! She made us feel like we were her only table despite a busy day. My kids had pancakes and bacon, I had a Reuben with steak fries and I took a whole wheat Mediterranean wrap with gyro meat and sweet potato fries to go. Wow! Honestly, the best Eggs Florentine I have ever had. Eggs were perfectly cooked (I love that gush) but more amazing was the spinach and feta blend beneath that perfect egg. And when I asked about the home fries, the waitress offered that she could make them extra crispy (psychic!). Our waitress was fabulous! Breakfast is always better a rockstar! Bottomless coffee and attention without hovering. We were seated near the back where it would be quieter (to help us hear) but ended up right under a speaker. Our take out was so good yesterday that we went back today and stayed for lunch! My work pal and I wanted to try all of the cool little restaurants in the corner and we picked this yesterday. We brought the food back to our office. I got the chicken Souvlaki with the side of sweet potato fries. So good and the perfect lunch size! Very fresh. I think next time I'll ask for more Taziki sauce but only because I like it so much. Today I got a turkey club with a side of Mac salad. Again perfect lunch size it was big but it wasn't overwhelming I almost ate the whole thing. The macaroni salad was really good. It had little bits of carrots and celery in it and was cold. Mmm The service was great. Very friendly staff. The place is immaculate. Bright and shiny although it is painted dark. They're open from 7 to 3 so make sure you get there! The Delaware Cafe is a gem! Exceptional food and service with personal care and attention given to each customer! Such kind staff always willing to help! I have a gluten allergy and they have always been willing to work with me! The last time I was there, the owner came out and asked me questions to help him understand what I needed and actually asked me what my worst fear was. I was able to talk to him about my cross-contamination fears and he listened and cared! I have had a wonderful meal each time I've visited the cafe, with no problems whatsoever later. They take good care of me. I really love the homemade corn beef hash! My son has no allergies and he loves all of their Benedict's. They are truly treat! The good: Food is consistent and is what you would expect from a plaza cafe. Service is prompt, efficient and courteous. Busters work vey hard and are to be admired for their efficiency. Facility is clean and pleasant. The bad: Pricing. I ordered quiche of the day which came with a side salad. I was charged for the dressing to go on my salad... not for extra dressing, just that which would ordinarily accompany a salad. In general the prices are at the higher end for this style of cafe, but I guess the owner must feel that in Delmar he can get away with it. But charging for salad dressing????? The Delaware Cafe opened recently in the Delaware Plaza, tucked in the back right corner between Sudy Thai and Los Panchos in the former Delmar Bistro space. The space was redone nicely with a casual modern atmosphere with long padded seating along much of the walls with tables & chairs and table seating in the front window. They serve breakfast all day and lunch. The breakfast menu offers egg dishes, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, French toast, waffles, homemade corned beef hash, and breakfast sides. The lunch menu offers sandwich plates, burger plates, griddle melts, gyros, chicken souvlaki, spanokopeta, salads, soups, sides, and Pepsi fountain drinks. The pricing here seems fair. I stopped by Delaware Cafe for lunch very recently. There was only one server taking care of the dining room and seating customers. It took about 4 minutes to be seated since the lunch rush was winding down. After I was seated, I was given a two sided menu and I requested an ice water as I was deciding. For a starter, the Lobster Bisque Bowl ($5 plus tax) was served piping hot, which had plenty of minced seastick in the orange bisque, oyster crackers on the side. For lunch, the Chicken Parm Sandwich ($15 plus tax) served with choice of side (small side of macaroni salad) had cut crispy chicken smothered in a thick tomato sauce and melted mozzarella cheese on a buttered grilled brioche bun, very hot to the touch. I used a fork & knife tobeatvthis big tasty sandwich. The homemade macaroni salad had firm elbow macaroni with mayo, carrots, celery, a good cold side. After I finished my food, the server brought over the check, which was $21.60 with tax and before tip. The server brought over a portable SpotOn payment reader (card payments) to finalize the bill. Overall, a good sitdown lunch and adequate service. I will have to stop in again to have breakfast and also try the eggplant fries with tzatziki sauce. read more

My husband and I had the most delicious meal today at Delaware Cafe. We love the clean, new atmosphere and excellent service here. Today was not our first visit (we've had breakfast and sandwiches on other occasions) but it was our first Greek experience at Delaware Cafe. We were greeted and seated by the owner and after talking to him about his Greek roots (my heritage as well) we decided to try his Greek recipes. The chicken souvlakia and spanakopita platters did not disappoint. The Greek salad was topped with a big hunk of feta, drizzled with oil and fresh oregano...just perfect. Our sweet treats (baklava and rice pudding) were outstanding- fresh and delicious. We will be back soon for sure. So glad to have a such a great spot in Delmar. read more

The staff is very friendly and attentive. We got a seat right away even though it was a holiday weekend. Server came right over and owner was present both in the kitchen and on the restaurant floor. I tried this place today because I was a huge fan of the restaurant that used to be in the same spot, and wanted to see if it was a similar fare. I went in and looked at the menus before deciding if I would eat and the staff was immediately rushing me to sit down. Once I ordered my food came out quickly which was nice, but was so hot I couldn't taste the flavor of what I was eating. The waitstaff didn't come to check up on me until my plate was almost completely cleared, at a time when there were only 2 or 3 other tables occupied in the whole restaurant. No sooner had I eaten my last fry than I found my check on the table without any consideration for if I might want to order dessert, or anything to go. Now I understand I walked in to the restaurant a 45 minutes before it closed, but the fact that I was in and paid and out in about 20 minutes or so for a sit down cafe made me wonder why I didn't just go to a fast food place instead. The food tasted great, even ignoring the fact that my Sandwich kept falling apart on me. And the Atmosphere is pleasant. But the entire experience made me feel rushed, like it was a problem I was there. I didn't even get the name of my server in case I needed to ask for anything. This is a great place to get breakfast or lunch. The service is usually pretty good. The food is very good. A lot of things that some restaurants order from Sysco or other restaurant distributors they make from scratch like their blue cheese, dressings, things like that. You can ask for real maple syrup for their breakfast items (for a slight up charge) The hospitality is fantastic which these days is what makes or brakes a restaurant for us. Several times when I've gone in and the owner happens to be there he's given our kids big chocolate chip cookies to go (also from scratch of course) at no charge, just to be nice to the kids and them happy. Nice ambience, usually pretty full but I don't remember ever waiting for a long time for a table. A good choice if you want delicious traditional Greek diner or café food with great hospitality and nice service. read more

Fairly typical breakfast menu. I ordered a cheese omelet with rye toast. Also came with fried potatoes. My friend ordered the florentine omelet but was told it was unavailable. She easily chose the veggie omelet. Seems to me they must have been out of spinach? Um, there's a grocery store in the same shopping center. Food was brought very quickly and was nicely plated. I'm not a huge fan of fried potatoes and these were a little heavy on garlic seasoning, now what I want in the morning. On Sunday, 1/19/25, I had the chance to eat at the Delaware Cafe in Delmar, NY. I ordered the Lox Benny. Seeing they had many Greek specialties; I could not resist and also ordered the Spanakopita. My husband ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad. Both were wonderful meals that exceeded all our expectations. The Lox Benny came with perfectly executed poached eggs, a creamy and rich hollandaise sauce that was smothered over plump English muffins and the most delicious smoked salmon I ever tasted. It was real smoked salmon with a thick texture. The home fries made with red skin potatoes were also delectable as was the Spanakopita. I could tell the Spanakopita was made with imported feta and was home made. My family was born in Italy, and I have family members and friends from Greece who always cook from scratch with the finest ingredients. That is what I tasted today at the Delaware Café. Homemade quality food made with the finest ingredients. The servers were kind and efficient. The atmosphere was clean, fun, and neat. The colors of the restaurant, including the walls, dishes and cups were a crisp white accented with a beautiful cobalt blue. Across from my table was a simple Kalamata olive tree decoration which reminded me of the Greek Islands. The white walls were decorated with large photos from the town's past. Perusing the menu, I saw a chicken souvlaki platter and gyro platter that I cannot wait to try. Besides the Greek specialties, there are also all the classic breakfast and lunch items you would expect, from Belgian waffles to burgers and salads. I left the restaurant thinking this is a great addition to the Albany and Delmar area and look forward to going back again. read more

Wonderful home fries and beautifully prepared Eggs Benedict with the most perfectly poached eggs and tasty Canadian bacon. Just right portion sizes; not too much food, not too little. My companion's Benedict included a gorgeously plump English muffin. As I cannot eat wheat, my eggs were placed on less fancy, gluten-free bread. That was the only disappointment. Service was attentive but did not hover, as the coffee mugs are large enough that wait staff don't have to come around every three minutes to refill them. The best part of all was the cleanliness. The glass windows and doors were noticeably fingerprint- and smudge-free when I first entered the cafe, and the interior also shone. Importantly, it wasn't clean simply because it is a new establishment. The staff member who cleaned off the table next to us was incredibly thorough, methodically wiping down every inch of its top surface and sides, as well as every seat. It sounds over the top to say it, but the ketchup bottles actually sparkled, and the salt and pepper shakers wore no grease. I complimented the owner on the attention to these details. This was an unexpectedly great breakfast experience and I will be returning to try other items on their menu in the future. Although I was so busy enjoying my meal I didn't think to take photos of the place or our plates, know that it was fresh food, well made, and presented with care.
